Wyclef Jean was sitting in his car when he hopped on the Zoom call. Wearing his signature shades and emanating his terminally cool swagger, the Fugees MC was fired up about his latest endeavor, a partnership with retirement service provider TIAA and First Generation Investors (FGI).
Last month, Wyclef debuted a new single called “Paper Right” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, which addresses the financial disparity in our country. He was joined by Pusha T, Lola Brooke, Capella Grey and Flau’jae, who all shared their individual experiences.
But that’s just the tip of the proverbial iceberg for Wyclef. Toward the end of the call, he confirmed the Fugees will indeed resume their reunion tour this year—despite some skepticism from their fans that it would. He also revealed he’s working on some new music with Lil Wayne that he’s not quite ready to talk about yet—but it’s coming.
“I would say to everybody we’re picking back up on the Fugees tour this year,” he told AllHipHop. “If you missed the Fugees last year, catch the Fugees this year. Another big thing I’m excited about is my Netflix movie called Prince of Port au Prince, which is based on my childhood and how I escaped poverty through imagination, so look out for that. That’s going to be amazing. Me and Lil. Wayne, we’re in the studio working on some secret, cool music. So, yeah, a lot of good things to look out for in 2024. We’re coming for sure. 100 percent.”

Fugees—comprised of Lauryn Hill, Wyclef and Pras—embarked on reunion tour in 2021 to celebrate 25 years of The Score. They again reunited last year as part of Hill’s anniversary tour celebration of The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. But in November 2023, Hill postponed most of the remaining dates and explained on social media that she has “been battling serious vocal strain.”
In order to recover fully, Hill said she’ll have to reschedule the remaining 2023 concerts for early next year. But nearly three months into the new year, a new itinerary has yet to be announced, leaving some fans to conclude it won’t be happening at all. But with Wyclef’s declaration, it looks like Fugees fans just need to have a little more patience.
