“I mean, everybody’s going in on this project. They’re trying to figure out what they want,” said Jordan. “That’s another incredible franchise. It’s pretty crazy! We’ll see how it happens. I don’t know how I can do everything.”

Jordan previously worked with Star Wars creator George Lucas on the 2012 movie Red Tails. The 26-year-old has also been linked to a few other movie sequels. He is set to star in the next Rocky film, and it has been reported that he is in consideration for Independence Day 2 and The Fantastic Four.

Pharrell Williams Says Will.i.am “I Am” Lawsuit Is Baseless

(AllHipHop News) The ongoing legal battle between music producers Pharrell Williams and Will.i.am over the rights to the phrase “I am” continues. According to TMZ, Pharrell is now requesting that Will’s copyright infringement case be thrown out.

[ALSO READ: Pharrell Teams With Google For i am OTHER YouTube Channel]

Will.i.am sent a cease and desist letter to Pharrell earlier this year stating that P’s “I am OTHER” brand was too closely related to his own trademarked “I AM”. In response, Pharrell filed legal papers asking a judge to allow him to continue using “I am OTHER.” Will then counter-sued saying the musicians’ similar styles and their mutual level of success in the entertainment business could confuse consumers.

The latest move in the back-and-forth is Pharrell seeking Will’s case to be thrown out. Pharrell believes Will’s claim that the two have both “achieved great distinction” is inaccurate, and therefore would not cause any confusion between “I AM” and “I am OTHER.”

Apparently, Pharrell also alleges that Will.i.am has a history of infringing on other people’s copyrights and has been sued in several infringement cases in the past. Pharrell wants the right to use “I am OTHER” without any legal consequences, and he wants Will.i.am to cover his lawyer fees.

Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, Game and More Show Us How The West Was Won

It was an epic night last night in the city of Irvine, CA as some of the West Coast’s biggest names gathered at the Verizon Amphitheater to put on one of the year’s best shows. Snoop Dogg (not Lion), Ice Cube and Game were at the top of the bill which was rounded out by veteran acts such as The Dogg Pound, Xzibit (joined by King Tee and The Alkaholiks), Jayo Felony, Kid Frost and Rodney O & Joe Cooley.

In true Southern California fashion, the crowd was still filing in just as the 3rd act (Jayo Felony) was finishing up, however, those in the crowd were setting the party atmosphere to jams like Felony’s “What Cha Gonna Do,” Kid Frost’s “La Raza,” and Rodney O & Joe Cooley’s “Everlasting Bass.” The crowd was finally good to go once Xzibit hit the stage as he launched in to memorable cuts like “Multiply” and “What’s the Difference?” X to the Z then let his Likwid Crew brethren Tha Liks and King Tee perform their signature songs from the 21 and Over and X.O. Experience albums.

Vets Daz and Kurupt of The Dogg Pound took fans back with “We Can Freak It,” “Let’s Play House,” “What Would You Do,” and other West Coast classics. Kurupt’s little brother Scoe joined them on stage as backup as well as longtime affiliate Bad Azz.

Game was late to take the stage and the crowd was getting a little restless and rowdy as a few scuffles broke out in the seats. I also witnessed a few ambulance stretchers with people who had passed out drunk. After nearly a 40 minute wait, Game took the stage and immediately took everybody back to The Documentary days. After going in to newer songs like “Ali Bomaye,” Game was joined on stage by Tyga for a performance of “Faded,” and afterwards given his official YMCMB chain by his new labelmate. Some songs later and after 10 G-Unot’s, Game went back to The Documentary for “Hate It Or Love It” and teased a performance of “One Blood” before his time ran out. Actually, according to the timer on the side of the stage, it had been up for about 10 minutes. He killed it though. I got some feedback from audience members and they agreed with my overall assessment.

Ice Cube, WC and DJ Crazytoones took the stage and once again proved why they are one of the best live acts in all of Hip-Hop. Stage presence, chemistry, classic hits – it’s all there. The audience’s frenzy was at its height at this point and all it took was Cube’s verse from “Natural Born Killers” to set it off. The trio performed “Gangsta Nation,” “We Be Clubbin’,” “Put Your Back In To It,” “You Know How We Do It,” and “Check Yo’Self,” just to name a few. Ice Cube ended with “Today Was A Good Day” and naturally everybody in the damn arena sang along word for word… It really was a sight to behold.

Snoop Dogg took the stage and came out to an awesome screening that included clips of The Godfather, Scarface, with images of his own film performances including the one used on the Up In Smoke Tour (where Snoop and Dre blast away together in the liquor store). It was a combination of old and new for The Doggfather with sets ranging from backup dancers to just about his entire Dogg Pound crew (Daz, Kurupt, Soopafly, Bad Azz, Warren G). I noticed that quite a few in the audience were leaving so I went out to ask a few why they were leaving during Snoop’s performance and of course it came down to the usual Southern California attitude of wanting to beat the traffic. All in all, it was a truly epic night. I’ve been to quite a few shows out here on the West and this was about the livest I’ve seen an audience get. I brought back some pictures from the show. Birdman, Tyga Anoint The Game As he Signs To Cash Money

(AllHipHop News) The Game cemented his new affiliation yesterday at the annual How The West Was Won show, when Tyga gave a Cash Money chain to be put on the Compton-bred rapper’s neck.

The pair had just finished performing Tyga’s song “Faded” when Tyga did the deed, certifying what the Birdman had said earlier in the day.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Is There A Bidding War For T.I.?

As you already know, T.I. is no longer on Atlantic Records. The ATL don left the label earlier this year and is now a free agent. I am hearing that the acclaim associated with his last album Troubleman has gone a long way in the industry. I heard there are a couple major labels vying for Tip’s attention. His last album went gold so he’s still a player in the game. I also heard that Atlantic did shove a lot of money in the promotion of it, so the financials may not have worked out on their end. Nevertheless, T.I. is going to be staring on “House of Lies” with Don Cheadle now. So he good.

A3C from a Fan Perspective

A3C is a hip-hop fan’s fantasy. The annual festival is getting bigger every year. Check out this story of one fan’s 2013 A3C experience.

ProducerBattleHubbarthResized-9756

Needing a break from the Detroit daily grind, I called my friend Kashka in North Carolina to see if she was up for a visit during her fall break. My friend, and underground Atlanta hip-hop artist and chef, Dillon announced that he had gigs at A3C with artists I wanted to see. Kashka was down to meet me at the festival. I left Detroit super late Wednesday night with my girl Nicole for the ATL. The 11-hour drive wasn’t too bad, the scenery is quite pretty and like with every trip to the South, a Waffle House stop was made.

Kashka made it into town and we checked in at The Highland Inn. A pretty garden waterfall greets guests outside and the building has quaint character like any hotel from 1927 should. We upgraded to the king-sized suite, a last-minute change that the front desk hooked up at a killer rate and we weren’t disappointed.

Next step was to pick up an A3C wristband from one of the redemption locations. It was a bit confusing; we went to the boutique in East Atlanta Village where the online map sent us, only to be sent down to the entrance of another venue. I also found it odd they did not have any physical festival programs at the “will call” location.  After some slices at Grand Central Pizza it was time for the Left Field Experiment at 529. At the end of the night Paten Locke and Edan brought one of the most creative hip-hop shows I’ve ever seen, hands down. I had a big stupid grin on my face the entire time. Bucket list show, check.

EdanPatenLockeResized

Kashka wanted to dip to see Ghostface in the Old 4th Ward, but getting around didn’t seem so easy. There was an A3C shuttle, but we didn’t want to split up and we didn’t know exactly how often the shuttle was running, or from where. The festival revamped to take place in different neighborhoods this year and the way it was so spread out was the biggest complaint I heard all weekend. If everything was nearby, that quick detour to see Ghostface might have happened.

Timothy Bradley: The Modern Day Marvin Hagler

Timothy Bradley and Juan Manuel Marquez will face off on HBO PPV Saturday Oct. 12 in what is expected to be an epic bout.

(KNOCKOUT NATION) For Timothy Bradley, his upcoming fight with Juan Manuel Marquez isn’t about money. This is all about respect. Although he is unbeaten with a record of 30-0-1 (12 KOs), the general boxing community doesn’t believe that he belong with the likes of Floyd Mayweather, Marquez and the man many think he was given a gift decision against, Manny Pacquiao. At this point, Bradley demands your respect and will run through any opposition that stands in his way. Knockout Nation spoke to Bradley and got his take on the upcoming fight, why he is “The Modern Day Marvin Hagler” and whether he wants to face Floyd Mayweather or Manny Pacquiao next.

KNOCKOUT NATION:
When was the moment that you figured that you and Marquez would be on a collision course? Was it after the Pacquiao fight?

Timothy Bradley:
I’ve always wanted to fight Marquez. Most of the time he was either tied up with Pacquiao or somebody else. After he knocked out Pacquiao I knew I’d get a shot at him. It was weird. Early on this year his team put out a statement saying he would never fight me and I should forget about it. After the Provodnikov fight they were all “We want to fight Bradley!” They must have seen something in that fight. I didn’t fight like I normally fight. I chose to brawl more than box. They feel like I am damaged goods and they are going to expose me and knock me out. I’m here to tell everyone that’s not going to happen, I’m 110% and I’m fine. Everyone will definitely see a fired up and determined Bradley who is going to prove to the world that I’m one of the best fighters in the game today. Whether I’m #1, 2 or 3, I’m right there.

KON: Did they make a mistake by looking at your last fight with Provodnikov?

Bradley: Absolutely. I think they feel that I’m a fighter at heart and when the tough gets going and I’m going to fight, they are right about that. But people always say that you’re only as good as your last fight and I think that’s baloney. I think you can always get better and adjust. If that’s the case, why do fighters bounce back after a loss? Many fighters do that. They made a mistake wanting to fight me. He’s a great fighter and Nacho is a great trainer. He’s just got to come out and take my title from me. He wants to be the Mexican fighter to win five belts in five weight classes and that’s not going to happen.

KON: Do you think Marquez is a more difficult opponent style wise than Pacquiao?

Hip-Hop Rumors: Will The Wire Return To Netflix?

I am hearing that “The Wire” may actually be coming back. AND, I am hearing that it may be coming back to Netflix! Holy S**T! Can this be life? Well, apparently there have been rumors of this nature for some time now so we don’t know for sure if its true. But a 6th season of The Wire would be crazy. It seems like people feel that the show is a tool for educating people about the drug game, particularly the kids. And in case you didn’t know, Netflix is killin’ it with the original programming. Its the new HBO!

In the meantime, check this out. Its called “Omar Lives”

Hip-Hop Rumors: Mona Scott-Young Plans to Focus More on ‘Love & Hip-Hop LA?’

We’ve heard by now that the Love & Hip-Hop franchise could be expanding to cities like Miami, New Orleans, Los Angeles and Houston but the new word on the street is saying that execs at VH1 are only going to pick one out of the three and that Mona Scott-Young plans to focus on LA. Here at AHH, we’ve been hearing our share of insider reports but this new news comes from Sandra Rose.

This is from an apparent email sent to Sandra Rose:

Mona has been granted by VH1 to have another Love and Hip-Hop city spin-off out of Houston, Los Angeles, and New Orleans. She can only pick one city out of the three. ____________ [identifying information redacted] she told me they have casted Tyga and Blac Chyna, Miss Joie (Bow Wow’s baby mama), Karrueche Tran (Chris Brown’s girlfriend), Lola Monore (Wiz Khalifa’s former artist), Jasmine Sanders (Chris Brown’s and Young Jeezy’s ex girlfriend), Jas Prince (Christina Milian’s boyfriend). And if the LA one gets the final greenlight by Mona it will be co-proudced by Ray-J who is bringing on his protege rapper Yung Berg, and will feature Ray-J’s own drama with his two side pieces, Teairra Marie and Princess Love (former #2 of Floyd Mayweather).

The letter closed out alleging that the cast with the most internet hype will most likely get the greenlight from VH1 execs and that Mona Scott-Young is really banking on having the LA edition get all the glory.

Epic Fail of the Day: Weatherman Eats Cat Vomit Off the Floor

Some people take the 5 second rule way to far. We all know that it’s one of those concepts that it’s best to keep contained to the privacy of your own home (don’t front, at least 90% of you have dropped something on the floor and picked up and ate it). Yet Scot Haney, a weatherman in Connecticut, decided to act on his urge to eat off the ground while on set at work, with cameras rolling, and it turned out he didn’t even eat what he thought.

Haney scooped up and devoured a handful of cat spit up off the newsroom floor, thinking that it was Grape Nuts. Just watch:

Epic Hood Win of the Day: Man Removes Bullet From Collarbone After Six Months

I’m conflicted. It’s a double fail that he got shot in the first place and he doesn’t have health insurance but to manage life for six months with a bullet lodged in your collarbone and then pull it out yourself is some G ish. Check this dude out as he removes the bullet. Eff a hospital.

I hope that doesn’t keloid.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Was Floyd Mayweather Set Up?

Looks like some chick named Princess Rivera may have set Floyd Mayweather up to get robbed over the weekend. First of all, how does this happen? I would think that Floyd would have iron clad security the way he flosses. At the least, I’d expect there to be a lot of people around his place. Anyway, this chick Princess Rivera was also exposed by 50 Cent as being a jawn that let both Ray and Floyd smash. Seems like this chick has a way with her men. The word on the street is that she has done this in the past and now she got Floyd for some of his bucks through another party. I can’t call it, but she should be careful if any of this is true. She’s moving fast!

Cam’ron Talks Past Falling Outs With Artists, Possible Reality Show + More (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) Cam’ron was begrudgingly up early on Power 105 The Breakfast Club and was opens up about all his past bad dealings with artist, Jay Z fued, origins of his infamous Pink clothing trend when he started.

Angela Yee and DJ Envy both corroborated Cam’s claim that Dipset music is not allowed in the 40/40 club with the latter revealing that Freaky Zeeky was once kicked out of the 40/40 Club. A story that Cam’ron remembers vividly even mentioning :

Eight bouncers came, he called me later that night, they kicked him out. He was there for a whole ‘nother event and eight bouncers came and surrounded him. Man, what’s kind of hate is that? Juan, I’m disappointed you man. We better than that.

In the interview, Cam’ron says he denied Def Jam’s offer for Vice President of Rocafella because it was only $500,000. This contradicts a claim Cam’ron made during an interview with MissInfo four years ago where he stated he asked Def Jam for half a million but was denied.

Cam’ron says he hasnt spoken to Ma$e for “three or four years” and says Ma$e the once close friends originally fell out because of Ma$e shortchanging him on the label deal Ma$e struck with Jermaine Dupri. Cam’ron claims the deal was for “maybe $2 or $3 million and [Ma$e] giving everybody $10,000.” After his departure, Cam’ron claims Ma$e began experiencing trouble and then left to Atlanta:

I was making sure he was good in the streets and then when I stopped messing with him it was like an open free-for-all. He was getting into fist fights in Harlem. People were threatening him. People were taking his chain. So, it wasn’t me, it was just a bunch of stuff that was going on in the streets with other people and I just think he got tired of it and broke out.

The loquacious Dipset general later revealed that his and Vado’s separation resulted from a text message exchange where Vado accused Cam’ron of slandering his name “in the streets” and never believing in him.

Check out both parts of Cam’ron’s extensive interview with Power 105 The Breakfast Club below:
