Kendrick Lamar has been relatively quiet since the end of the Black Panther: The Album era in 2018. While K. Dot’s music releases have been sparse over the last three years, the Top Dawg Entertainment emcee did launch pgLang in 2020.
There is still a very secretive element to Kendrick Lamar and Dave Free’s new artist service company. The pgLang website has virtually no information displayed except for what appears to be a mission statement that is mostly blacked out.
In recent months, pgLang was connected to The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights [Remix]” lyric video and Calvin Klein’s “7” campaign. The brand is also closely aligned with 2020 XXL Freshman Class member Baby Keem. Lamar actually interviewed the California-based rapper about pgLang and other topics in October 2020.
It now appears Keem and Kendrick are also focusing on presenting more music in the near future. A video uploaded to Baby Keem’s Instagram page had fans of both artists excited to see what was possibly coming from the tag team.
In the IG clip, someone in a black hoodie is seen inside a recording studio. An unknown voice can be heard as a song plays in the background. Immediately, IG users began questioning if that was Lamar talking.
The fact that Boi-1da commented under Keem’s post with three fire emojis led to more speculation that the Grammy-winning producer was somehow involved with whatever the pgLang crew is putting together. Boi-1da previously worked with Lamar on songs such as “The Blacker the Berry” off To Pimp a Butterfly.

Is Keem’s purposely cryptic Instagram post a precursor to the follow-up project to his 2019 mixtape Die for My B####? Is the 20-year-old performer ready to drop an official studio album? Is Kendrick Lamar on the cusp of returning with new music? It seems these are the questions they want the public to be asking right now.
Baby Keem earned a Platinum plaque for his single “Orange Soda” from Die for My B####. His present catalog also consists of 2018’s The Sound of a Bad Habit mixtape as well as several EPs. The track “Hooligan” debuted last September with a music video directed by Jake Schreier.
Damn is Kendrick Lamar’s most recent studio LP. The Pulitzer Prize-winning album was released in 2017 to critical acclaim. In addition, Lamar scored several hits off 2018’s Black Panther: The Album, including the Oscar-nominated “All The Stars” with SZA. He also showed up last year on Busta Rhymes’s Extinction Level Event 2: The Wrath of God.
