Mobb Deep member Prodigy was a granted a 30-day stay, after being admitted to an emergency room last night (January 7).
While details as to why the New York bred emcee was hospitalized are unknown at press time, sources told AllHipHop.com that the rapper suffered from complications from sickle cell anemia and was released the same night.
Prodigy, whose real name is Albert Johnson, was scheduled to turn himself into New York State authorities today (Jan. 8) to begin a three and a half year prison term.
The 33-year-old rapper and producer The Alchemist were arrested in New York in October of 2006, after police stopped Prodigys SUV for driving the wrong way down a one way street.
When police searched the SUV, they found a .22 caliber handgun in a console in the vehicle.
Prodigy pleaded guilty to a third count of gun possession and was sentenced to three and a half years in prison in October of 2007.
