Dr. Jan Adams has said that his medical practice has suffered tremendously after the controversy surrounding the death of Dr. Donda West, the mother of rap star Kanye West.

Adams said that things have gone “horribly” for him since the beginning of the November 2007 ordeal and that his business is “almost destroyed.”

The doctor was cleared of any wrongdoing in the case, which saw much of his own personal history reported in the media.

Adams, at the advice of his council, has not talked to media since appearing on Larry King Live on November 25, 2007.

He said that the autopsy report clearly absolved him of wrongdoing and should clear up his public perception to the masses on King’s show on Tuesday.

“I don’t think the autopsy cleared up things in my mind. I think the autopsy said what I expected,” Adams told King. “As far as I’m concerned, the autopsy — at least the autopsy report suggests nothing went on during surgery, nothing went on during recovery. OK, she’s now gone home. We need to look at that period. I think that’s what’s open.”

Although his name has been cleared, Adams’ lawyer said informing a judgmental public will prove to be a challenge.

“I think he can recover his name. But, you know, one of the problems that he faces is that, again, because of this patient/physician privilege, patients can comment and say whatever they want about him. But he can’t do the same,” lawyer Michael Payne said.

Adams concluded saying that the malpractice suits against him represents a problem with Americans attempted to get an unjust pay out.
