(AllHipHop News) A number of influential Hip-Hop acts will take part in City Parks Foundations 25th annual SummerStage concert series. Jay Electronica, Pharoahe Monch, Public Enemy, Big Daddy Kane, Doug E. Fresh, Force M.D.s, Roy Ayers, Kool, Herc, Nice and Smooth, The Awesome 2, EPMD, Brand Nubian, Gil Scot-Heron and others will hit the stage as part of Hip-Hop at SummerStage. Over SummerStages 25 year history, we have been responsible for bringing high quality, free concerts across all genres of music to the public,” City Parks Executive Director David Rivel told AllHipHop.com. “Hip-Hop has always been well represented in our offerings because it is a musical genre that grew up in NYC alongside of SummerStage.”This years SummerStage will expand beyond Central Park and will include over 100 musical acts, in addition to dance and theater programs in all five boroughs of New York. Up-coming Hip-Hop stars and well established legends such as Q-Tip, KRS-One, Pete Rock and numerous others have performed at SummerStage, Rivel stated. Now with our expansion into all five boroughs of NYC, we are looking forward to bringing Hip-Hop music to more New Yorkers than ever before.”According to Rivel, this years SummerStage has a focus on groups that have their roots in New York. City Parks Foundation is the only nonprofit organization that offers park programs throughout New York City. The Hip-Hop at SummerStage concert series kicks off June 1st with a performance by Jay Electronica in Red Hook Park in Brooklyn, on June 1st. The series concludes August 15th in Central Park with a performance by Public Enemy, Blitz The Ambassador and 7th Octave.
