Young Jeezy Named Senior VP Of A&R At Atlantic Records; Still Signed To Def Jam As Artist

(AllHipHop News) Young Jeezy has been named Senior Vice President of A&R at Atlantic Records according to Atlanta’s Greg Street, who announced the news last night on his V103 radio show.

The news was then tweeted out by DJ Folk, one of the masterminds behind Jeezy’s CTE movement, and later confirmed by Complex. He wrote, “Young Jeezy is now the Senior VP of A&R over at Atlantic Records. Woah.”

Although no details have been revealed regarding Young Jeezy’s full role in the position, it is interesting to note that he is still signed as a solo artist, with Def Jam Recordings.

Young Jeezy has been with Def Jam since his first album, Let’s Get It: Thug Motivation 101, was released in 2005, up to his fourth studio album, TM103, which dropped last December.

His most recent feature appears on the new single, “Hold On (Shut Up),” from Machine Gun Kelly’s Bad Boy debut, Lace Up.

  • Sure….Rap about Drugs, Violence and P****, and then you qualify to
become Senior VP at Atlantic Records….No College Degree required.

1 thing he has that no man straight outta college has…7yrs hands-on experience

    • HIP HOP SAVIOURS

A&R SHOULDN’T BE NO COLLEGE MAN JOB ANYWAY. IT SHOULD BE A PERSON THAT’S REALLY KNOW MUSIC AND EAR IS TO THE STREET. NOT NO ONE PICKING MUSIC BASE ON WHAT A BOOK TOLD THEM OR WHAT OTHER NON-TALENTED ASS FOOLS AGREEING ON.

      • I disagree it should be a combination of both….A College Education and Great Knowledge of music…..Point is rappers only limit themselves to only RAP music…..They are afraid to discover other genres of music or different ways of learning new things, and that’s my point because you are sitting here telling me that a Gangsta rapper like Jeezy should be the A&R of a major label because he is a rapper and know other rappers….What about the larger scale of music that doesn’t include Hip-Hop? Jeezy has no knowledge about that…..Experience is great but thats only a fraction of what a true A&R should bring to the table……………………………………………………………………….Hip-Hop is not just about Rapping it’s a business and most rappers only know how to rap and no clue about the business….But you will hear soon how fast Jeezy is replaced by someone else, because that how the BUSINESS of Hip-Hop works.

You sound like you hatin real hard right now damn jus be happy for the man instead of wishing him to fail.SMDH

      • I am not happy because their are tons of young eligible people who can take on a great opportunity as senior A&R, but instead they give it to an already established artists like Jeezy who has no clue what to do with such powers…..So forgive me if I just want to see a new face in the industry who can possibly bring Hip-Hop into a new direction.

      • My brother i`m afraid what yo hear is what you heard. That dude response is worse than a black on black crime!

      • acewonders

They picked up Jeezy to help them sign and develop HIPHOP artist, Atlantic can pick up someone else for other genres. Please stop hating, envy is sad.

      • Stop using the word “Hating”—That’s sad.

    • All I am saying is let rappers be rappers and let A&R’s be A&R’s……That’s why the Hip-Hop community is so watered down because CEO’s are trying to be Rappers, Rappers trying to be Singers, Singers trying to be actors, and no one is happy with their craft……..Jeezy should continue to rap and have them find a real A&R with the correct disipline, skill and passion….Allow someone else the chance to shine is all I am saying.

  • Nemesis_Enforcer

What does Jeezy know about A&R-ing a project? What talented artists has he signed? No qualifications for these executive positions. And then people wonder why the rap music industry is all backwards.
