Eminem: The Marshall Mathers LP 2 Is Not ‘Necessarily’ A Sequel

(AllHipHop News) A week after the original The Marshall Mathers LP  was released on May 23rd, the album had broken the still untouched single week record for most sales at 1.71 million. It is safe to say that naming an album the Part 2 of such a colossal opus will lead to high expectations, which Eminem fully addresses in a snippet of his upcoming interview with Rolling Stone.

In the interview, Em acknowledges the high expectations he placed on this album given the title and says this is the hardest he’s ever worked in his life:

Calling it The Marshall Mathers LP 2, obviously I knew that there might be certain expectation. I wouldn’t want to call it that just for the sake of calling it that. I had to make sure that I had the right songs – and just when you think you got it, you listen and you’re like, ‘Fuck, man! I feel like it needs this or that,’ to paint the whole picture.

While the 41 year old MC admits his name choice has warranted fans to anticipate a continuation of The Marshall Mathers LP, he wants it to be clear that this album is  more of an homage than a continuation:

So there’s not gonna be, like, continuations of every old song on there or anything like that. To me, it’s more about the vibe, and it’s more about the nostalgia.

The full interview will appear in the upcoming Rolling Stone issue out on November 7th.

Eminem’s The Marshall Mathers LP 2 will be in stores on November 5th.

In other words, “It will be Whack”

    • Slick Blak

The only way Em album will be whack is he is drugged up on antidepressants like on that Relapse bullshit. He recovered on Good meets Evil with Royce da 5’9

      • hotasice

        bad meets evil? fail…

      • Boomie Rogers

        lmao

      • That album was great

      • LaurynHernandex

lmao Royce was killing that white boy on all but three songs and trust me it was just double time flow with no meaning. It’s like having a nascar with no airbags.

      • mirk

you really hate em huh? and how can you compare what people did in their 20s to what theyre doing in their 40s. youre putting way too much effort into this, just dont buy it. now breathe

      • LaurynHernandex

What? When did I compare? YOu can’t expect everyone to like what you like. Especially a 43 year old white man making cartoon noises talking about something that happened when he was 13.

      • LaurynHernandex

His ass didn’t relapse or recover because his crazy ass never healed. Talking about trailers all the dam n time.

      • mirk

      • mirk

haha you deleted it? slick. i dont thumbs down people id rather use my words. you take this pretty serious so im going to pretend you never said infinite was better then his last 4 albums (even tho i agree)

      • LaurynHernandex

Idiot. You’re trying to cover up your tracks.

      • mirk

who are you trying to impress? pathetic

      • LaurynHernandex

I’m not entertaining your retardead asss

      • That may be true, but the project was still good

      • LaurynHernandex

        Nah,it was trash

      • I didn’t think so

      • Boomie Rogers

I’m a fan of Em but his last two albums weren’t that good to me.

    • LaurynHernandex

You assume because he doesn’t like Eminem he must like trap god and boats 2? It’s funny how all Stans know three mainstream rappers a piece and assume eminem is the best out of the real mc’s. Typical stan logic.

  • TimeWillTellu1

Why call it part 2 then? He knows its a flop already and is going after the excuse card.

  • still waiting on that shady records statlanta album.. lmfao

  • saris1

None of the three tracks released so far have done anything for me. I remember when I would replay a new Em song for at least an hour… Berzerk, Rap God, Survival… I listened to them twice a piece and that was enough.
