(AllHipHop News) Yesterday (Jan. 14), Aja Brown, mayor of Compton, CA made a special announcement via her personal Twitter page. She announced that in an upcoming ceremony Kendrick Lamar will be award the key to his hometown. In a concise tweet Brown expressed her adoration for the Good Kid.

Lamar’s artistry and actions continue to make history. Following the highly successful release of his sophomore effort, To Pimp A Butterfly, K. Dot has earned 11 Grammy nominations. Mayor Brown has scheduled the key gifting to take place next month on Feb. 13. This comes two days before the Grammy awards.
