(AllHipHop News) The legendary Hip Hop group A Tribe Called Quest released their debut album People’s Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm 25 years ago. To celebrate the anniversary, the New York collective is re-releasing a remastered version of the project with remixes by Pharrell, Cee-Lo Green, and J. Cole.
Three of the four members of ATCQ spoke with Hot 97 this week about the new version of Instinctive Travels. Phife Dawg, Ali Shaheed Muhammad, and Jarobi White also addressed why a full reunion tour is unlikely to happen within the next year.
“We’re all doing different things. At the same time, it’s a business, but I think it’s ridiculous we’re not touring,” said Phife.
When asked if lone holdout Q-Tip was concerned that the expectation level was too high for a successful return, Ali replied, “Naturally, I think there’s a hint of that, but I don’t think we would have that issue. We really connect with the human spirit, so that’s not a problem. You don’t want to overdo something, and you want it to be special.”
Ali did not close the door on the idea Tribe could tour together at some point in the future. Fans can watch the crew perform this evening (November 13) on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The reissue of People’s Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm is in stores today.
