Ice Spice has officially joined the voice cast of The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants, marking her animated film debut and a fresh track just in time for summer.
The Bronx-born rapper is lending her voice to a new character in the upcoming Paramount feature set to hit theaters December 19, according to Deadline.
She’ll also contribute an original song to the film’s soundtrack, blending her signature sound with the underwater world of SpongeBob SquarePants.
The movie brings back the beloved sponge and his crew for a ghostly adventure centered around the Flying Dutchman, voiced by Mark Hamill. The plot follows SpongeBob and friends as they navigate a mysterious fairground while confronting the ghostly pirate.
The cast also includes Regina Hall, George Lopez, Sherry Cola, and Arturo Castro, along with the original voice actors from the series.
The film marks a full-circle moment for Ice Spice, who released the track “Bikini Bottom” in 2022—a nod to SpongeBob’s hometown that quickly became one of her breakout hits.
After the casting news broke, Ice Spice reacted with a simple “yay!!!” on her Instagram Stories, showing her excitement about the project.
The animated role adds to a growing list of firsts for the rapper, who appears in Spike Lee’s upcoming film Highest 2 Lowest.
On the music side, Ice Spice dropped her first major release of the year with the “Gnarly (Ice Spice Remix)” alongside KATSEYE on Friday (June 6).
Ice Spice will perform with the group at the 2025 Kids’ Choice Awards on Saturday (June 21).
