Kodak Black To Serve 120 Days In Jail On Misdemeanor Drug Charges

(AllHipHop News) South Florida rapper Kodak Black was sentenced to 120 days in county jail, after pleading no contest to two misdemeanor drug charges in a Fort Pierce courtroom Monday, September 19.

According to Sun Sentinel, the rapper will also have his driver license suspended for a year and will be required to pay court costs of $298.

However, Kodak Black, born Dieuson Octave,, will not have to serve the entire four month sentence, as he was given credit for time served.

“At the end of the day, for St. Lucie County, I think he did well,” stated Kodak’s attorney, James Regan.

Kodak Black pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge of possession of 20 grams or less of cannabis, and a misdemeanor charge of use or possession of drug paraphernalia.

The latest case for the rapper stems from a traffic stop last Christmas on Florida’s Turnpike in St. Lucie County.

The 19-year-old artist has also been accused of sexual battery in an incident that occurred in February at a hotel in Florence, South Carolina.

An August 16 plea deal granted to the rapper was quickly overruled after the St.Lucie and South Carolina arrest warrants were discovered.

He was joined onstage by people sporting dark clothes, holding up “Black Lives Matter” signs.

Other stars who took the stage included Desiigner, DJ Khaled, and Gucci Mane, who was released in May following nearly two years behind bars.

For the third consecutive year, Drake led the nominations with an impressive 14 nods, but the entire list of winners will not be revealed until the show airs on America’s BET network on October 4.

NFL Announces Ban Of Kanye’s Cleats; Texans’s DeAndre Hopkins Fined $6k For Wearing Them

(AllHipHop News) Kanye West’s new Adidas Yeezy cleats have been banned from the National Football League (NFL) because the shoes’ design violates a uniform policy.

The “All of the Lights” hitmaker recently sent boxes of his new Turtle Dove Yeezy 350 cleats to a number of top athletes to wear on the football field, and Houston Texans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins was among the sports stars to model the new shoes last week as the new season kicked off.

However, NFL executives have since ruled the black and white boots do not comply with their uniform rule, as they do not feature the required solid base color.

They have since fined Hopkins $6,000 for his fashionable choice, and as a result, he has no plans to wear the Yeezy 350s for a game ever again, unless “Kanye wants to pay the fine,” reports ESPN.com.

Denver Broncos star Von Miller, Minnesota Vikings’ Adrian Peterson, and Buffalo Bills wide receiver Sammy Watkins also showed off the new shoes on the field during Week 1, but it is not yet known if they have also been fined.

The Adidas Yeezy 350s went on general sale online on Thursday, and the NFL ban proved to be a non-issue for amateur players as the cleats, priced at $250, sold out immediately.

Kanye has yet to comment on the NFL’s uniform policy.

The news emerges days after Kanye debuted his Yeezy Season 4 designs at New York Fashion Week, but the presentation was widely panned by critics.

In a pre-show interview with W magazine, he hit out at industry snobs for failing to support his endeavors and blasted those who don’t think he takes fashion seriously.

Lil Wayne Wants To Know How Birdman Spent $70 Million In Advances In New Filing

(AllHipHop News) Lil Wayne claims Bryan “Birdman” Williams blew almost 70% of a $100 million advance meant to fund their Young Money/Cash Money venture.

Lil Wayne formed Young Money in 2003 with a controlling 49% interest in the venture, while the other 51% is owned by Cash Money Records.

Wayne’s $51 million lawsuit against the label claims he was shorted almost $10 million in advances, while getting stiffed on receiving royalties for Young Money acts like Drake and Nicki Minaj.

In the latest filings, Lil Wayne claims Birdman managed to spend $70 million of the advance, on paying royalties,  marketing costs and recording expenses.

Lil Wayne’s legal team wants a closer look at Cash Money’s books, to try and get a handle on how Birdman managed to spend so much money.

It’s apparent that Wayne’s constant legal battles with Cash Money over his royalties and advances has started wearing on the rap star.

According to the lawsuit, Wayne has fought with the label over advances and obligations since 2005.

Furthermore, Wayne claims he’s never received an accounting for how much money superstar rapper Drake has made for the labels.

Lil Wayne recently enlisted the help of Rap-A-Lot CEO James Prince, who vowed to recoup “all money owed to him and my son [James Prince Jr. off the Drake albums.”

As for Birdman, his legal team claims they’ve already handed Wayne and his lawyers over 22,000 documents related to the lawsuit.

One of them men in Coolio’s entourage attempt to claim responsibility for the bag and its contents, but it was quickly discovered the bag was really Coolio’s.

“What’s up everybody? This is Coolio. Just wanted to say something about the little misunderstanding at the airport,” Coolio said in a statement on YouTube. “Everything’s fine. As you can see, I’m at P.F. Chang’s having a meal, and having a few drinks. Canelo Alvaraz Discusses His Career In New Interview

2016 is supposed to be Canelo Alvarez’s year. With Floyd Mayweather’s retirement at the end of last year, the throne for boxing’s premier superstar became vacant. Canelo, with his previous strong ppv outings and popularity, was the only logical candidate to fill the role. He had just decisively defeated Miguel Cotto last November in a well-received pay-per-view, and scored a spectacular one-punch knockout of Amir Khan in May.

Then came the first big misstep of Canelo’s career. After bringing middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin into the ring and vowing to fight him next, Canelo surprisingly vacated his WBC middleweight crown rather than face his biggest threat and most lucrative opponent. The combination of Canelo’s machismo-laced words to Golovkin, and his promoter, Oscar De La Hoya, promising to call to Golovkin’s people asap, made Canelo the laughing stock of the boxing world for several weeks. What happened to the ambitious fighter who forced his promoter to ink a high-risk fight with spoiler Erislandy Lara just to shut his mouth?

Internet jokes and media criticism aside, Canelo’s decisions have yet to hurt him at the box office. His fight this Saturday, against WBO junior middleweight titlist Liam Smith, has sold nearly 40,000 tickets at AT&T Stadium. Should Canelo win, it’s rumored he’ll fight again in December, possibly New York. This would mirror his rival Golovkin’s strategy in recent years of becoming a live attraction on both coasts.

Although Alvarez won’t concede Golovkin’s influence on his potential venue selections, he realizes the importance of building their anticipated superfight in every aspect.

“I fight wherever need to,” he says. “I feel comfortable in any arena. The fans are always welcoming and I’m received well wherever I go. But, Las Vegas has to be a priority when looking at my options.”

The science of opponent selection isn’t “sweet” like the action we see in the ring, but it’s just as important if Canelo’s brand is to remain strong moving towards a Golovkin showdown. According to his promoter, Golden Boy CEO Oscar De La Hoya, there is a “verbal agreement” in place for Canelo to face Golovkin this time next year.

“Canelo is going to build up to being a true middleweight,” said De La Hoya last week. “The plan is to face Smith – a big, bruising 154-pounder – in September, and if Canelo emerges victorious, to start making his way up to 160 pounds and fight Golovkin on equal turf (in terms of weight). We envision Canelo doing a third fight in 2016 either at or close to the middleweight limit and then a fight on Cinco De Mayo at 160 before facing Golovkin in the fall.”

In recent years, Canelo has looked his most dominant against limited, come-forward sluggers, notably Alfredo Angulo (TKO10) and James Kirkland (KO3). Smith fits the pressure fighter mold, but with one key exception — he’s undefeated with none the battle wear and tear that burdened Angulo and Kirkland.

“Smith is a bigger challenge (than Angulo and Kirkland). I’m preparing for a guy that comes forward, is a hard puncher and fast with his combinations,” says Canelo. “I have to be at my best and be able to adjust.”

Canelo has come to accept that Gennady Golovkin’s name will be linked with his for the foreseeable future. He remains calm in answering the ducking accusations and the embarrassment of his May post-fight interview bravado. But the first sign of irritability comes when the 26-year old is asked about his weight.

In his 11-year career, Canelo Alvarez has never weighed more than 155 pounds for a fight. Over his last six bouts, he’s tipped the scales at 155 four times. But the rumors of Alvarez risking his health to stay at junior middleweight over facing Golovkin at 160 gained steam in the immediate aftermath of the Khan knockout. Media, including this author, waited for close to two hours for Canelo to appear for post-fight questions. When he finally spoke at the podium, his opening words were translated as stating the delay was due to being a “little dehydrated” and needing more time to complete the post-fight physical.

Khan estimated Canelo was 180 pounds when they clashed. Smith is on record as stating he expects Canelo to struggle with the weight, and accuses him of only returning to 154 to avoid Golovkin. As for Canelo, he lets out an animated sigh and mutters a few choice words when the dehydration and weight issues are brought up.

“Aw, come on. Look, there was no dehydration issue at all,” he declares. “What happened was they needed to take more blood from me and I had just urinated, but they needed more to finish the testing. The weight is 154 is no issue. That was just a mistranslation on the podium.”

Mistranslation or not, junior middleweight will not be a rest haven. There are Charlo brothers, who hold the WBC (Jermell) and IBF (Jermall) titles. Erislandy Lara, who’s been clamoring for a Canelo rematch since losing a controversial split decision in 2014, holds the WBA strap. And the undefeated Demetrius Andrade, who put the division on notice by outclassing Willie Nelson (TKO12) in June, becomes the mandatory for the Canelo-Smith winner.

“I’m not worried about the other champions,” is all Canelo will commit to on record. “We can figure out the next step after Smith.”

Boxing wears you down. Most fighters on the wrong side of 30 put health and favorable opposition over the tough matchups that make fans salivate. But Canelo is 26. Fans watched the sport make a mockery of itself with the five-year delay in making Mayweather-Pacquiao. In the immediate aftermath, Canelo and his promoter vowed to resurrect the sport by giving fans what they want to see. Was it all smoke and mirrors?

Another Canelo sigh.

“The fight with Golovkin will happen at a good time for the fans,” he assures. “But he doesn’t concern me. My focus is just Liam Smith.”

Is Canelo Alvarez more fighter, or more businessman? We have one year to find out.

Canelo Alvarez vs. Liam Smith airs live on HBO pay-per-view on Saturday September 17.

Kanye West Vents Fashion Industry Frustrations In Interview With W Magazine

(AllHipHop News) Kanye West recently conducted an interview with W Magazine and expressed many of his frustrations with the fashion industry stating that he is often misunderstood.

Throughout the discussion the creative giant often alluded to popular films to illustrate his mistreatment within the world of fashion.

“OK, so you know when Penelope puts together her car? And she’s like, ‘Made it myself,’ and everybody that has professional cars, they say, ‘Look at you with your little car and you’re going to do this,’ and then they break her car, right? That’s basically the fashion world to me,” West cryptically explained referencing Sarah Silverman’s character in Wreck-It Ralph.

The artist also let it be known that he feels that those within the industry will never truly ‘get him.’

“I’m saying that to this date they do not understand who I am. They will not understand until after I’m gone. I am misunderstood and there is no one in fashion that’s on my side,” the rapper/producer stated.

Actor Bokeem Woodbine Says Tupac Planned Feud-Ending Record With Biggie & Mobb Deep

According to veteran actor Bokeem Woodbine, Tupac was on the verge of creating a feud-ending and genre-shifting record before his untimely death.

Woodbine, who also starred in Tupac’s classic “I Ain’t Mad At Cha” music video claims Pac shared the details of the planned record while they were filming the “All Eyez On Me” single.

The secret record allegedly would’ve featured Notorious B.I.G., Mobb Deep, and a few other East Coast rappers, as an effort to end the beef.

“He had a plan to put everybody together on one record and just squash the beef. He wanted to take the power away from the labels that were exploiting the situation. It angered him that they were profiting; he wanted to stop the cash flow. It wasn’t something I was supposed to tell people about, you know what I’m saying? I honored that, and I just waited for that record to come out. But unfortunately, as you know, it never did,” Woodbine told The Fader.

This news comes years after Pac’s untimely death. Lil’ Cease even revealed that Biggie and Pac would’ve definitely settled their beef had they had the opportunity to do so.

Cease always believed if Pac and Big would’ve talked after that infamous Source Awards, things would’ve been different because they saw each other on numerous occasions and nothing happened.

Man this record would’ve been EPIC! Who do you think would’ve brought the best verse?

Despite his confinement, Biggaveli managed to make headlines earlier this year, as Kanye West initially announced the name of his album, which would eventually become The Life Of Pablo, as “Waves,” drawing the ire of fans of Max B’s music such as Wiz Khalifa.
