P### Hub, GoFundMe, The Grammys, & Pizza Hut Try To Fix Kanye’s Bad Week

Kanye West has certainly had a pretty interesting month. From Twitter rants, SNL meltdowns, skipping out on attending the Grammys (until they give him Album Of The Year), and announcing that he is in debt, Yeezy has been going through a lot. Kanye’s personal woes didn’t stop a few companies from poking fun. P### Hub and Pizza Hut jokingly asked Kanye to contact them so they can help him get his money up. When Kanye announced he wasn’t attending The Grammys, The Recording Academy/ The Grammys asked Kanye was his voting membership even still active. To help Ye get out of debt, fan and graphic designer, Jeremy Piatt has created a GoFundMe account urging everyone to help Kanye out. Mark Zuckerberg may have donated a few coins had Kanye not asked for his help on Twitter. LOL. Oh yeah, and Kylie Jenner moved forward with her Puma deal. Keep your head up Ye. Are you feeling his ‘The Life Of Pablo’ album?

You can donate to Kanye’s GoFundMe HERE.

Here Slim Jesus goes again with some sort of controversy and drama. Slim Jesus dropped his 4th song called “Facts.” In the song he takes aim at Lil Mouse asking who he is. He also says he’s [finally] talking real sh*t and rapping about the homies who are going through it. How are you feeling about this one? Any Slim Jesus fans in the house?

Guess What Rapper Spent $1.1 Million On Uber?

Have you ever thought your Uber receipts were extremely high? Well, they can’t possibly be as high as Wale’s! Wale claims he spent $1.1 million on Uber. Wale… ummmm where were you going? At this point we are sure it would be cheaper to hire your own driver. When asked how he spent so much on the popular car service, Wale said,

“Goin to @FrencHMonTanA crib and stayin for dumb long while the meter was on a few times.”

If Wale is using Uber that much, he may want to negotiate some kind of deal with ’em.

EDITORIAL: I Pray To A God I Don’t Believe In…And you probably do, too

ptagidbi artworkWhen I was a kid, just like most of you who are reading this, my religious beliefs were handed to me from parents who’s beliefs were handed to them. Whether you were raised Christian, Muslim, Jewish, or Taoist, more than likely it was because some adult informed you that worshipping God is what you are supposed to do. I started questioning my belief at an early age, when everybody was able to catch the Holy Ghost except me. I even faked it a couple times to see if maybe the Holy Ghost would be like “Hey, that girl right there is hella down with us” and then come to me for real. It didn’t happen, it actually earned me an ass whooping. Yet, the true turning point was when I found out, in my teens, that Christianity had been forced on Black people during slavery. I was p#####. I felt betrayed and disgusted, and on Sundays when my mom woke me and my sibs up to visit the church my family owned, I would beg not to go. That earned me an ass whooping, too. And it was one of those “You told Harpo to beat me” levels of ass whooping. But you know what? It was totally worth it.

My song “Praying to a God I Don’t Believe In” is the first song I ever wrote about my beliefs. It’s part of a larger project called “Gone But Not // Duality” that is all about making a statement on how the past affects the future. This famous piano player named Lee Musiker did a whole album of really beautiful, original piano pieces, produced by Ira Antelis. Usually, when you are dealing with folks who have worked with superstars like Tony Bennet and Christina Aguilera, you don’t think of them as the kinda people who’s music would be easy to sample. But Lee and Ira actually went looking for producers and artists to remix their stuff, that’s how I got involved. To keep with the concept of the project, I thought about something in my life that is “gone but not,” and the first thing that came to my mind was… well… God. I’m not more enlightened than anybody who’s reading this. I’m just not scared to be honest about what I don’t know.

I have friends of multiple races and have dated my fair share of long-haired white boys, but despite being counterculture I am unapologetically black. So much so that whenever people ask what I’m mixed with, I reply “I’m mixed with slave and other slave.” Just like you, I’m still figuring out life as I go along. Too often, religion takes away personal responsibility and puts it in the hands of the dude in the sky who somehow doesn’t care when children are dying in Israel and Palestine but totally cares about being shouted out during music award ceremonies when some overhyped rapper wins in the “Best New Coon Ni**a” category.

I have seen “God” change the lives of people who are recovering from substance abuse. I have seen thugs become husbands and hoes become housewives. For those people, God is not only real, but necessary. But where was God when I underwent molestation and sexual abuse as a kid? Where was God when I was a teen runaway, cross-dressing so I wouldn’t get caught? Where was God during the Transatlantic Slave Trade, during the Jewish Holocaust or the Bombing of Hiroshima? The same higher power that has been such a loud motivating force for others hasn’t been much more than a quiet whisper for me. I’m not an atheist or an agnostic, because in order for me to pick a title I would need to know where I stand on God. All I know is it’s my job to be a good person, whether the big homey in the sky has my back or not. And that’s why, when people ask me what I believe in, my reply is “I believe in myself.”

(AllHipHop NewsNipsey Hussle and his team are working to celebrate Black History month. On behalf of The Marathon Clothing, the lyrically-adept business-man is helping to cultivate a poignant protest. Its Black Lives Matter Collection boasts six “limited-edition” t-shirts that are a somber reflection of America’s plague of police violence.

Yesterday (Feb. 17), in an Instagram post, the “Don’t Take Days Off” wordsmith announced that this endeavor is “non-profit.” Against a black background, the word Crenshaw is divided and stacked. Candid black-and-white photos of the snatched souls of people like Tamir Rice, Freddie Gray, and Sandra Bland are used to voice a silent cry for equality.

Dr. Khallid Muhammad and Fred Hampton Got A Grammy Monday?

Now, the homie D’Angelo won a Grammy. Here you go:

Record Of The Year

“Really Love”

Best R&B Song

“Really Love”

Best R&B Album

“Black Messiah”

BUT…the question is. Did some straight up revolutionaries get an award with the brother? I am being told “YES.” Dr. Khallid Muhammad and Fred Hampton are both sampled (their voices in speeches) on “Black Messiah” and therefore, when D’Lo won, they won too. I know “we” don’t care about their awards, but STILL!

The Game responded:

In response to “50”……. When I heard banks was in Dubai, I told my n#####, “we’re goin thru to holla”…. My team thought I was on some b####### & thought we was going thru to kick off some b#######… I then told them, “Naw, we ain’t on that… We on the other side of the world enjoying ourselves, 1/2 y’all ain’t never even left LA… So we gone go thru, show banks party love & im going to personally let him know that me & him are ?… It’s been 11 years since I seen banks & the funny thing is, I told myself.. When I got there I was going to go off his energy… & when we seen each other, it was instantly all good energy, so we chopped it.. threw back a few dranks & took a flick for old times sake to kill the negativity & tension that had once tore one of the GREATEST RAP GROUPS ever apart !!! At some point, you gotta be a MAN about certain situations so last night that’s what I decided to do.. It was MY DECISION !!! Whether Buck, gone admit it or not… I talk to that n#### all the time.. As recent as few months ago when I was in Nashville & it was all love…. Don’t front now my n####… This is ME !!! As for me & you “50”… Our past has proven we could both get on some gangsta s### if need be, being that lives have been lost on both sides….. Lives have been taken from friends, & fathers taken from kids.. Which could’ve easily been MY LIFE or YOURS….. If you choose to ignore the GROWN MAN approach & continue to harbor HATE for me & my side… That’s your decision. I can’t speak for Banks, but my pride was swallowed last night along with a shot of Hennesey in that club…… Whatever it’s gone be is what it’s gone be, I said my peace #HateItOrLoveIt

Bobby Shmurda Blasts D.A.: My Constitutional Rights Are Being Violated (Audio)

(AllHipHop News) Yesterday (Feb. 17), Bobby Shmurda voiced his opinion on two trending subjects. The Brooklyn rapper opened up on the topics of his staggering $2 million bail and his supposed beef with 50 Cent, this according to ThisIs50

When discussing his highly contested bail Bobby blasted the New York District Attorney’s office. He suggested, that in addition to woefully experiencing a languished legal system, that his inherent constitutional rights are being violated. “They ain’t trying to give me the deal because they know if I come home, I’ma beat this. So, right now, they trying to hold me in here as long as possible,” said Shmurda.

[ALSO READ: Not Again: Bobby Shmurda Gets Hit With Another Legal Woe]

Bobby believes that the government is working to sabotage his right to due process. “So, they’re trying to hold me in for like three or four years. And then try to give me time served or something but they don’t got nothing on me. I’m not even supposed to still be here,” he then claimed, “I got several lawyers maintaining my case that’s saying that the bail is supposed to be dropped and these charges are supposed to be dropped.”

Next he questioned if his case is being used to build a political legacy. He challenged, “The bail is not even supposed to be high due to the Emory Law Book. But they violating my constitutional rights. They violating my civil rights that they are just flushing it down the toilet for they own political reasons.”

Moving from bail to bars Bobby shot down rumors concerning an alleged beef with 50 Cent.  He effectively dismissed the notion he has any problems with the Queens rapper.  He insisted, “I don’t do the Rap beef… I don’t got time for all that. First of all, I’m in jail. How I’ma beef with someone when I’m in jail?”

Begging the question, the “Hot Boy” spitter concluded with, “That’s not my character. 50’s cool. So anybody who knows me knows I don’t do that Rap beef sh*t. 50 ain’t never disrespect me.”

Minister Farrakhan Has Message For Rappers During 2016 Saviours Day

This weekend, the Nation of Islam will celebrate its 86th year of existence in North America during its annual Saviours Day Convention this weekend in Detroit, Michigan.

This year’s Saviours Day comes on the heels of The Nation of Islam’s “Justice or Else!” march in Washington, D.C. last October, which drew a million people commemorating the original Million Man March. It was there that Minister Farrakhan called for and sparked an economic boycott of Black Friday shopping and Christmas. In addition to workshops, panels and other public events, Minister Farrakhan will deliver his annual speech.

This year the keynote is titled “Divine Instructions: Commands for 2016.”

“There are a lot of people who have listened to me for generations, and some of them were bold enough to say ‘we’re tired of speeches Farrakhan. I don’t want to hear one more speech.’ As I heard such criticism and thoughts, I said, ‘you know everything that needs to be said, I’ve said it. It’s now not things to say, it is things to do” – Minister Farrakhan

Part of “Divine Instructions: Commands for 2016” will be directed squarely at the Hip-Hop community. Minister Farrakhan has long-held the belief that rightly guided Hip-Hop could lead the world’s youth toward liberation.

The Nation and the Minister have also been involved in deescalating several of rap’s biggest conflicts, including the so-called “East Coast/West Coast” wars, as well as the Ja Rule/50 Cent beef.

Over the years, numerous rappers have supported the Nation of Islam and their efforts, including Jay Z, Rick Ross, Snoop Dogg and T.I. Some of the genre’s biggest names from Detroit and nationwide are expected to attend the events this weekend.

Minister Farrakhan will also discuss the importance of the upcoming elections in light of the Islamaphobia being spewed by Republican candidates like Donald Trump and Ted Cruz during the keynote.

Minister Farrakhan’s “Divine Instructions: Commands for 2016” keynote will take place at the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit at 2:00 PM EST. The speech will also be viewed in over 190 cities in the United States, Europe and the Caribbean. For more information click here.

Manny Pacquiao Loses Nike Deal And More

(AllHipHop News) Manny Pacquiao made a big boo boo when he compared gay people to dogs.

Until the comments, Pac Man was sponsored by Nike despite losing to the likes of Floyd Mayweather, but after 8 years, his contract was terminated.

“We find Manny Pacquiao’s comments abhorrent,” said a Nike statement. “Nike strongly opposes discrimination of any kind and has a long history of supporting and standing up for the rights of the LGBT community. We no longer have a relationship with Manny Pacquiao.”

Pacquiao maintained that homosexuals having sex was “worse than animals.”

He would later apologize on Facebook, but not before he lost his deal with the sneaker and sports brand. Apparently, he also lost over 2 million followers on Twitter.

RIAA Execs Discuss Rihanna’s ‘Anti” Going Platinum & New Rules For Album Award Certifications

(AllHipHop News) Late last month, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) received some criticism for its decision to certify Rihanna’s 8th studio album Anti as platinum just days after its release.

The recognition was based on 1 million sales of the project to Samsung and not directly to consumers. Billboard spoke with RIAA executives about the controversial Anti certification as well as the changes to the organization’s formula for rewarding platinum, gold, and diamond plaques.

[ALSO READ: Rihanna’s “Anti” Album Downloaded Over 1 Million Times In 14 Hours]

“There are two key requirements for the certification program. That there is consumer demand and that the artist and label get paid a certain minimum amount. We satisfied both of them with Rihanna,” said RIAA director of the certification program Liz Kennedy. “We got the data from the service, we saw the redemption of the download codes. They couldn’t just send the album to consumers, the consumer had to initiate the acquisition. The redemption is the indication of the demand.

When asked about reports that some of the 1 million Samsung free downloads were given to customers overseas – which would not count toward RIAA certifications – chairman/CEO Cary Sherman stated 1 million downloads were confirmed to take place in the United States.

There has also been some push back against the RIAA altering its Gold/Platinum/Diamond Awards program to include on-demand audio/video streams and track sale equivalent totals. Numerous artists instantly earned plaques when the announcement was made on February 1.

Among the performers to see their albums certified platinum under the new rules were TDE’s Kendrick Lamar (To Pimp A Butterfly) and G.O.O.D. Music’s Big Sean (Dark Sky Paradise). However, TDE label head Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith rejected the idea of his artist accepting a Platinum Award without actually selling 1 million units of his project.

“For a while we’ve recognized that we would need to put streaming in the mix as consumption changed — but we needed to do it carefully. So we started with the easiest one to change, the singles awards,” explained Sherman about the RIAA rule changes. “We watched that and made sure it worked out, and then after about a year, we started on the albums. While looking at how to implement for the album, we went through an elaborate process, getting feedback form the industry, and going through the same data analysis that we did for the single.

According to the exec, ten years ago nearly 90% of the albums sold in that year reached gold status (500,000 units shipped), but now only about 30% were eligible. The RIAA suspects around 40% of the top 200 best-sellers for the year will be eligible for gold certification under the new rules.

This was not the first time the Recording Industry Association of America adjusted the requirements for its awards. Proof of 500,000 units sold or an equivalent of $1 million in sales was needed to gain gold certification in 1958. The Platinum Award was instituted for albums selling over one million units in 1976, and the Multi-Platinum Award was instituted in 1984. Then 1999 saw the arrival of the Diamond Award for sales over 10 million.

Catalog LPs are also being affected by the new RIAA rules. Michael Jackson’s classic 1982 album Thriller – the highest selling album of all time – went up by 2 levels. It is now certified 32X platinum.

Longtime Rivals LL Cool J & Jay Z Seen Together During Grammy Weekend (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) The saying goes “time heals all wounds.” That may be true for LL Cool J and Jay Z. The two iconic rap stars have not always seen eye-to-eye, but LL posted a video to his Instagram page which included Jay, his wife Beyoncé, and Soul/Funk legend Nile Rodgers.

[ALSO READ: Puff Daddy & LL Cool J Discover Facts About Their Family History On ‘Finding Your Roots’ (VIDEO)]

According to the location marker on the IG vid, the four performers were at the Staples Center, the venue for this year’s Grammy awards ceremony. The clip included a caption that read, “Such an amazing time last night. Congratulations to everyone who won, performed and helped make last night a success. #GRAMMYs @beyonce #jayz #nilesrodgers.”

The history between the New Yorkers has been rocky. Back in the early 1990’s LL reportedly lost a series a secret rap battles to an unsigned Jay Z which led to some animosity. The “Mama Said Knock You Out” rhymer was also vocal about his displeasure for the way he was treated during Jay’s tenure as Def Jam president.

The LL/Hov cold war also included Jay taking a slight jab at his rival in a 2010 Rolling Stone article. The Roc Nation founder said at the time, “We’ve seen people like LL [Cool J] have longevity, and we respect the heritage of what he’s done, but it’s not like, right now, he’s competing on the same level as Lil Wayne.”

Then in 2013, LL downplayed Jay’s Magna Carta Holy Grail album receiving a platinum plaque because Samsung bought 1 million copies. The Queens native suggested, in his view, the RIAA certification was not as valuable as selling directly to consumers, because fans did not actually pay for the project through the Samsung deal.

LL told Revolt, “Numbers are numbers. In the numbers is truth, but in terms of touching the people it’s a little different. For me as an artist, I still want to be able to touch the people individually. It still matters to me.”

Stephen Colbert Clowns Kanye West’s Plea For $1 Billion From Mark Zuckerberg (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) The Late Show host Stephen Colbert wants the world to lend a hand to Kanye West. Colbert did a comedic bit on his late night program which called on people to help Kanye overcome his reported $53 million debt and finance his visionary inventions.

[ALSO READ: Kanye West Blasts ‘SNL’ & Taylor Swift In Leaked Audio Rant]

Kanye went on a Twitter spree recently that included the superstar Hip Hop artist asking Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and Google co-founder Larry Page to donate $1 billion to fund his creative ideas. Colbert used his show to joke about Ye’s plans such as a “7 Screen Movie Experience” and “Emoticon Auto Correct.”

Colbert also clowned several of Kanye’s tweets. One message from the G.O.O.D. Music leader read, “Ima fix wolves.” The post was most likely about the track “Wolves” off The Life Of Pablo album, but that did not stop Colbert from calling on the audience to help Kanye upgrade actual wolves.
