Wiz Khalifa’s Uncle Shot and Murdered, Wiz Speaks On It

(AllHipHop News) Today is a somber day for Wiz Khalifa and his family. His 20 year old uncle, Imani Porter was gunned down yesterday (January 8th) while sitting in his car in the parking lot of a Steak-n-Shack store at the Waterfront shopping complex in Pittsburg, PA.

According to reports, two men are suspected for Porter’s murder while sitting in the front seat of Chevrolet Impala where police found narcotics in and around. After being shot around 8:10 P.M., Porter was pronounced dead at UPMC Mercy.

Following the news, Wiz took to his personal Twitter account to voice his grief over the loss of his uncle:

Two men who were seen fleeing the scene in what appeared to be a white Pontiac are suspected of Porter’s murder. Local police authorities are asking anyone who may have information on the suspects to call the Allegheny County Police Homicide unit at 412-473-1300.

The question is, who doesn’t have a reality show these days? And if there is still a facet of society that hasn’t been exploited via reality TV, just hold on because it’s coming soon…allegedly.

Word around the business is that there are a few gay male media personalities in New York City who are being considered for a potential show. Some work within the urban realm and others mainstream. Part of the scandal is that some of the men being considered are out, while others…not so much.

Internet personality Kid Fury is said to be one of the personalities producers are considering but my little birdy wouldn’t give me anymore names for the potential look. This isn’t a concrete plan just yet because things are still being worked out.

T-Pain Talks Being Upset Over Praise For Kanye West’s “808s & Heartbreak”

(AllHipHop News) T-Pain is credited by many as the person who revived the mechanically altered vocalization in music that was previously used by artists like Roger Troutman. While T-Pain made a name for himself with his Auto-Tune hits, perhaps the most celebrated album that incorporated the technique is Kanye West’s 808s and Heartbreak.

Pain recently told VladTV that he was actually thrown off by the attention Ye’s fourth album received. According to the Florida singer, he felt as if he did not get the proper recognition for his work with Auto-Tune prior to Kanye’s 2008 project.

“I respect that s**t, but the praise that he got from it was like ‘Oh, my God. This is so creative. This is the new s**t’,” said T-Pain. “I’m like what happened to 2005 when I dropped Rappa Ternt Sanga and it was the same album? That’s kind of weird. It just feel like I was unappreciated.”

During the Q&A, T-Pain also discusses the creation of Auto-Tune as well as working with Kanye on 808s and their collaborative track “Good Life” off 2007’s Graduation.

Sources Claim Allegations Young Jeezy Attacked His Son Is Just A Set Up

(AllHipHop News) Social media went crazy this week when news broke that Atlanta rapper Young Jeezy was arrested for allegedly attacking his 17-year-old son in 2012. Sources reportedly close to Jeezy tell TMZ that most of the information being reported about the incident is false.

The sources claim Jeezy and his son Jadarius did get into a heated verbal argument, but the only time there was any physical contact between the two was when Jeezy pushed Jadarius to the floor after the boy got in his face. The argument apparently began because Jeezy told his son that he did not want him staying at his house any longer because of his “punk kid” attitude.

Jeezy was also accused of making terroristic threats against Jadarius during the altercation, including saying that he would kill him. The rapper says that the exchange only included the statement, “I brought you into this world and I can take you out of it.”

TMZ sources say Jeezy’s arrest was instigated by Jadarius’ mother, Tenesha D####, as a set-up in order to get more money from the rapper.

J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Drake, & Wiz Khalifa Make Forbes “30 Under 30” Music List

(AllHipHop News) The careers of J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Drake, and Wiz Khalifa have all gotten off to a tremendous start. All four emcees experienced chart topping music, successful tours, and award nominations. They can also add another accolade to their resumes. Cole, K. Dot, Drizzy, and Wiz were all named to Forbes’ third annual “30 Under 30” list for musicians.

On J. Cole the magazine writes:

Jay Z’s first signing at Roc Nation is now a hip-hop force in his own right. Sophomore album Born Sinner debuted at No. 2 on the charts with sales of 297,000, nearly matching Kanye West’s Yeezus. Now grossing six figures per night on his world tour, Cole is here to stay.

On Drake:

The former Degrassi star has pulled in over $30 million in the past two years, boosted by live shows and endorsements with the likes of Sprite and Kodak. Look for him to build on that with his latest arena tour in support of new album Nothing Was The Same.

On Kendrick Lamar:

Dr. Dre’s latest protégé earned $9 million last year after releasing smash hit Good Kid, m.A.A.d City and playing over 100 live shows. Better yet: he earned seven Grammy nominations, more than any other artist besides Jay Z.

On Wiz Khalifa:

“My flow’s so sick you might want to absorb this,” the Pittsburgh native rapped last year. “Best believe every year young Khalifa gonna make that Forbes list.” He has, for the third consecutive year, while raking in $14 million from strong sales of his music, merch and concert tickets.

Other artists to make Forbes’ “30 Under 30” music list include Rihanna, Miguel, and Janelle Monae. The sports list features Kevin Durant, Brittney Griner, LeBron James, and Derrick Rose.

DJ Drama Joins A&R Team At Atlantic Records

(AllHipHop News) The man behind Gangsta Grillz mixtapes series is now the newest executive at Atlantic Records. DJ Drama has signed on to partner with the label’s A&R team.

“I’m extremely excited to embark on this new chapter in my relationship with Atlantic Records,” said Drama. “My first two albums as an artist were on Atlantic, and I’m now looking forward to working with Craig and Julie in a new capacity, helping them break the label’s next crop of amazing talent.”

DJ Drama’s debut album Gangsta Grillz: The Album and his sophomore project Gangsta Grillz: The Album Vol. 2 were released through Atlantic and T.I.’s Grand Hustle imprint. Besides his own work, Drama has helped craft mixtapes for Tip, Lil Wayne, Young Jeezy, and many more.

“A hugely influential force in the Hip Hop community, I know he’ll be a tremendous asset in signing and and developing artists and making amazing records. It’s great to be renewing our relationship, and I’m looking forward to making music together again,” stated Atlantic Chairman & CEO Craig Kallman.
