Juvenile Busted With Weed After Police Search House

(AllHipHop News) New Orleans rapper and former Hot Boys member Juvenile was arrested earlier this afternoon after police found a small amount of marijuana in his home.

According to reports, a neighbor called police when they smelled the odor of marijuana emanating from a house on Livingston Avenue, in Arabi, St. Bernard Parish.

When police arrived at the house around 3:00 PM and knocked on the door, a producer for the rapper answered the door and a cloud of smoke rushed the officers.

According to reports, the producer, Leroy Edwards, refused to cooperate with police, who obtained a search warrant and later found a half an ounce of marijuana in the kitchen. Juvenile claimed the drugs and both men were arrested. Both have posted bond. Juvenile, born Terius Gray, was at the home to record material for a new CD. In February of 2008, Juvenile was arrested in Jackson, Mississippi, after police found a small amount of the drug in his car, which had expired tags.

Rappers, Execs, Politicians Attend Min. Farrakhan’s Saviours’ Day

(AllHipHop News) A number of rappers, entertainment executives and political figures will gather in Chicago this weekend when the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan hosts The Nation of Islam’s Annual Saviours’ Day Convention.

Wyclef Jean, filmmaker Allen Hughes, Raheem DeVaughn, Freeway Rick Ross, Frank Lucas, former Jamaican Ambassador Dudley Thompson, Iyanla Vanzant and Susan Taylor of the National Cares Mentoring Movement are among this year’s participants in the annual weekend. The convention will be held February 26 and 27th at the Stephens Convention Center, while Min. Farrakhan will deliver his keynote speech, “The Time and What Must Be Done,” at the United Center on February 28th. “I intend in my Saviours’ Day address to provide Divine warning and guidance from the Honorable Elijah Muhammad to the Black community to the American people and to our brother, President Barack Obama,” Min. Farrakhan told AllHipHop.com in a statement. “It is critical that everyone understand the time in which we live so that we can act in the manner that could save our lives.”

Focal points of the weekend include resolving youth gang violence in Chicago and its surrounding communities and increasing the effort to assist the island nation of Haiti, which was devastated by a 7.0 earthquake. “Haiti needs all the assistance she can get. We in the Nation of Islam are organizing our efforts to provide relief and in the spirit of the Million Man March, The Millions Women’s March and the Millions More Movement we encourage everyone to organize their efforts into a National Response to Haiti,” Min. Farrakhan said. Min. Farrakhan and The Nation of Islam have been an influential force in Hip-Hop for decades. In addition to being name checked on numerous albums, a number of rappers are members, including Ice Cube, Kam, Snoop Dogg and others.

He also spoke at Russell Simmons’ Hip-Hop Summit Action Network’s first ever Hip-Hop Summit in New York in 2001.

Additionally, Min. Farrakhan was instrumental in resolving some of Hip-Hop’s biggest crisis’s, including the national East Coast/West Coast “war,” a feud between 50 Cent and Irv Gotti and another between Beanie Sigel and Jadakiss. “If we come together and speak with one voice and use the brightest and best of our minds to organize an effective response to this from the entire Black and Hispanic community of America, what a statement that would make,” Min. Farrakhan stated. “After we assess what we have done and the success of it, we have a working model for bad days that may soon come upon us,” continued Min. Farrakhan.

The Nation of Islam was founded 80 years ago in 1930, by Master W. Fard Muhammad.

The Saviours’ Day Convention begins at 9:00 am on Friday February 26 in Rosemont.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Beyonce Stole Bootylicious? Charles Hamilton Wants To Be A Female MC?!

rumorsDISCLAIMER:

All content within this section is pure rumor and generally have no factual info outside of what the streets have whispered in our ear. Read on.

CHANCE ENCOUNTERS!Peep what my homey Chance has to say about these evil streets! Beyonce  a liar? AW MAN! Charles Hamilton wants to be a female rapper? WHAT?! READ THIS!

BEYONCE STOLE BOOTYLICIOUS????The

production credit at least.  One of Lady GaGa’s producers who also

produced “Bootylicious” says he came up with the track but when he saw

Beyonce take credit for the idea in a television interview he called

and flipped on Matthew Knowles.  Matthews explanation was that he was a

nobody and you have to make people believe the “artist is everything”

to sell records.

Here she is out with the Husband the other day: TREY WARMS UPJay-Z just kicked off his BP3 tour with Jeezy and Trey Songz.  Here Mr. Songz is tightening up his routine in rehearsal:

CHARLES HAMILTON WANTS TO BE A WOMAN?

I was talking to somebody in Charles Hamilton’s camp yesterday and they are NOT happy with the direction CH is trying to go.  He’s currently in Atlanta working on a mixtape with B.O.B. or Bobby Ray (idk) tentatively titled “CHX and B.O.B: Freshman Friday” and he’s recently decided he wants to become a female rapper.  I’M DEAD SERIOUS!!!  Charles has decided he would like to go by the name LADY DOOM from now on.  Apparently the music he has been making is really MF Doomish and he’d like to rap from a “genderless” perspective.  NO this is not a new nickname, Charles really wants to re-vamp his image and has even had a secret Facebook page under the name “Myu “LadyDoom” Zik” (pronounced Music).  They’ve been trying to convince him not to do this for the past few days but he’s got his mind made up to become the best female rapper in the game.  Here’s an image CH sent to illustrate his new self image via a South Park Avatar:

Guess this means no more Sonic. I’M JUST SAYIN!Chris Brown has come out in support of Tiger Woods…he says everyone deserves a second chance.  (Insert witty one-liner here).

If you can’t tell from the lyrics Rihanna has confirmed that “Cold Case Love” from her Rated R album is about Chris Brown.Drake and Nicki Minaj turned down XXL’s Freshman cover this year…should have given it to ’em last year.  Lady Doom made it.

Rihanna hates partying in VIP…she says “I hate when I’m in the spotlight and everybody’s in the club staring. I

can’t even dance or get drunk. I want to get p##### just like you!”

Ice Cube album on the way…it’s called “I Am The West”…you looking out for it???

The Shanell being pregnant rumor was already dispelled but now Wayne has denied it as well.  Shanell IS NOT pregnant.

My new blog is up…you should stop by sometimes.

PEACE – Come Rock With Me @ Chances World

BEYONCE AND CHARLENE HAMILTON, WE LOVE YOU!!!

They keep us talking, but if we stop talking about them then they should worry!

Erk Tha Jerk: Hood Nerd In The Flesh

In an era where entertainment is full of gimmicks it has become a rarity to find someone who does not conform to trends but rather sets their own. Rapping was a hobby at age 12, taken seriously by age 18, and 10 years later Erk Tha Jerk has paid his dues and is definitely putting on for his city. The Rich City [Richmond, CA] rapper is certainly someone that has something refreshing to contribute to Hip-Hop. From his original productions, to his witty verses and melodic hooks, Erk is an all around artist. With his hometown on his back, Erk Tha Jerk is taking his own route to success and continues making singles that solidify why he deserves every achievement he acquires. MusicErk Tha Jerk “Hood Nerd 2 Freestyle”Erk Tha Jerk “Married 2 The Money”AllHipHop: The “hyphy” movement was so big for the Bay that people don’t expect anything else from a Bay Area rapper. How do you debunk that stigmatism?Erk Tha Jerk: I think people need to realize things come and go in every aspect of life. So when it comes to the bay area and the music scene outsiders need to understand “hyphy” is only one side of “us”AllHipHop: You started out in a group about seven years ago, right?Erk Tha Jerk: Ummm I was solo at first then joined “Kali Fam” 3 or 4 years later.AllHipHop: What made you start to take the craft seriously?Erk Tha Jerk: Other people’s reaction to my music. People that knew me were always encouraging me to make CDs and put out more and more songs.AllHipHop: Who were your musical influences, from your town and elsewhere?Erk Tha Jerk: Rappin’ Ron, Too $hort and 40 influenced me. Jay-Z, Cee-Lo, Redman and Eminem also influenced me.AllHipHop: You’re known for production as well as artistry, which is your first love?Erk Tha Jerk: Rap is definitely my 1st love! Production is great but there’s nothing like writing a dope verse or a good R&B song.AllHipHop: What collaborations have you done thus far?Erk Tha Jerk: I’ve worked with alot artist from here at home. In fear of not naming them all let’s just say. Every city and it’s factors have had production or a verse from me. Oakland (Too $hort, Richie Rich), San Francisco (San Quinn, Big Rich), Richmond (Laroo, Erk Tha Jerk) East Palo Alto (Hood Starz) now just waiting on a collaboration with the Big Homie E-40AllHipHop: What inspired the 2007 release of the “HoodNerd” mixtape?Erk Tha Jerk: I was tired of the bullsh*t. N##### out here are afraid of being themselves, so I felt like the music I was making was what was needed for us to get away from the non senseAllHipHop: Is the “HoodNerd” a nickname or an alter ego?Erk Tha Jerk: More like a state of mind. It’s something that I am. A ni**a from the hood that acts and feels like an average Joe, somewhat of a “nerd”fora lack of a better word.AllHipHop: Was the “HoodNerd” a good student? Erk Tha Jerk: In elementary I was an excellent student, in middle school I was an okay student, high school is where it began to go downhill but it was because I didn’t try, so I ended up doing all of the necessary work during senior year and ended up graduating with something like a 3.0 GPA.  AllHipHop: What is your biggest accomplishment as a musician and as a man? Erk Tha Jerk: As a musician, when the right here single reached 76 spins a week. It reached number 1 and was being played more than any other song in the Bay Area. It was the number one song in the bay area. As a man: balancing still being a father and while making great music. Not neglecting my parental responsibilities just because people know my name. AllHipHop: How have things changed for you since that break out period, wherepeople began recognizing you for holding your own?Erk Tha Jerk: It has been bitter sweet. The people that have known you the longest act like you’ve changed when it’s really them who have changed. But people whonow listen to my music show love. It’s all kinda strange I guess. I ain’t really the spot light type of dude.AllHipHop: You had the Pleasure of having your most recent video shot by Taj who has done videos for Nas, LL Cool J, Ludacris, Usher, Rihanna, Ne-Yo, and a huge roster of talent, how did you two team up?Erk Tha Jerk: Taj is from the bay so when he heard my song “Right Here” was #1 he hit me and wanted to do it. I was definitely with it.  He’s a very talented dude. We almost had to do it for the Bay.

AllHipHop: When we caught up with Taj to ask him about you, he said, “In my mind, Erk is one of those talents that Hip-Hop is forced to cherish. He is who he actually says he is. That’s a rare thing.” How does it feel to have such respect from your industry peers? Erk Tha Jerk: It makes me feel like I’m being understood for exactly what I’m putting out there. There are a lot of people that think I’m something I’m not. I’m not complicated, I’m not preaching. All of this is exactly what it appears to be. AllHipHop: What’s next for Erk?Erk Tha Jerk: More music, major deals, more money, no problems [laughter]. Just hard work that’s all. DJ Scream: Heavy In The Streets

For the past two weeks DJ Scream has been riding high off the success of the his newest mixtape release I’m Da Man Pt. 3, done in collaboration with Shawty Lo. The mixtape was released All-Star Weekend and has logged tens of thousands of downloads across the net.

The first release in the “I’m Da Man” mixtape series was the first mixtape to feature Shawty Lo’s debut hit “Dey Know.”

The third installment of the series features guest appearances by Gucci Mane, Lil Wayne, Ludacris and The Dream.

DJ Scream also has a weekly show on Sirius XM Hip Hop Nation called HoodRich Radio that airs every Wednesday at 10PM, as well as a show on at one of the biggest Hip Hop stations in Atlanta, Hot 107.9. on Monday nights at 9 PM.

AllHipHop.com kick’s it with DJ Scream to find out his history, his current plans, what he has in store for the future and some of the artists he’s checking for.

AllHipHop.com: For our readers that don’t know, tell us how you got your start in the mixtape game.DJ Scream: I came up being influenced by local DJs and started at the age of 12. By the time I was in high school I was making mixtapes. I was influenced by the Jelly’s [DJ Jelly], the Tony Touch’s, the Screws [DJ Screw], and the Whoo Kid’s. Always had a mixtape in my tape player. More influenced by the mixtapes than anything else

I started doing them in high school, I kept doing them in college. The first really ground breaking project that I did was I’m Da Man with Shawty Lo, but I’ve been doing mixtapes for a long time before that. I’ve been staying down for a long time. I feel I am a student of the mixtape game, so I feel like I finally graduated and now I’m actually getting my chance to shine.

AllHipHop.com: The definition of a mixtape has definitely changed over the years, can you talk about the definition of a mixtape and what a mixtape means to you?

DJ Scream: I just look at a mixtape as any type of street album or compilation. Anything that is not just completely polished. On an album stuff has to get cleared. That’s really just the answer there, its really just raw or uncut. It could be an artist rapping over other people’s stuff. It could be a rapper rapping over something like a sample that hasn’t been cleared. It could be a compilation of the artist’s greater hits. There’s really no rules or definitions on a mixtape. I definitely love what Drake did last year. I don’t know what you call it, but I don’t know if I would call it a mixtape, it’s a street album. It was dope! Anything but a mixtape, but it was dope, it was the best of the year, whatever you want to call it. Underground album or EP, but in order to call it a mixtape, I think you need a DJ.

AllHipHop.com: What’s up with the new mixtape with Shawty Lo. A lot of buzz around that. What we can expect?

DJ Scream: Shawty Lo I’m Da Man Pt 3 has really been anticipated. A lot of people are buzzing on the WTF ft Lil Wayne song that’s not even out yet, but he just shot a video for that recently. He talks about real life situations and songs like “Why Does Money Make Me Feel So Good?”

AllHipHop.com: So you got your radio show with SIRIUS XM Radio on Hip Hop Nation called HoodRich Radio. Can you tell me about that?

DJ Scream: Well XM and Sirius merged so now its Sirius XM radio. It’s not just 66 Raw anymore. It’s actually on Hip Hop Nation and I got a show called HoodRich Radio. It’s a real ground breaking radio show every Wednesday. It’s basically like a two hour mixtape where I break a lot of records. I always premier Lo’s record there, Wacka Flocka’s “Oh Lets Do It” was originally broken there. It’s was the first place it was played radio-wise. Travis Porter. Swag Surfin. I am always the one cracking the new records on there; I am always cracking that stuff wide open.

AllHipHop.com: Who have been some of the guests on the show?

DJ Scream: I like to interview people that the streets are interested in. I don’t just limit it to just rappers. I have Chris Johnson and Marquis Daniels coming up soon. Really anyone that the streets is interested in, and I have done really every rapper you can imagine. We actually just had Pinky come through; I’ve done a few p### stars. Young Buck has been on the show. Hell Rell, Killa Mike, the list goes on and on. I try to give it a different twist. Like how those people are view hip hop.

AllHipHop.com: Heavy in the Streets is your brand and mixtape series; can you talk about that briefly?

DJ Scream: Yea Heavy in the Streets, me and my manager were just chopping it up thinking about a brand to go with for parties and mixtapes. It’s just like my staple mixtape series. Anytime I think it’s something that I think the streets will be into, I stamp it as a Heavy in the Streets edition. I have been really fortunate for the streets to embrace it and accept it.

AllHipHop.com: What songs should we be looking for right now?

DJ Scream: Right now Travis Porter, Wacka Flocka, Texas got some heat from a few artists. Alley Boy, Big Bank Black from DTE are really doing well right now. They are definitely starting to pick up steam so I would definitely watch for those artists.

Hip-Hop Rumors: What REALLY Happened With Yung Berg, Max B Update, Raekwon’s Return & More!

DISCLAIMER:

All content within this section is pure rumor and generally have no factual info outside of what the streets have whispered in our ear. Read on.

THE DAILY TWO SENSE

This weather has me kind of lazy…here are some good rumors on the way! That ones I have are pretty good though!

WHAT REALLY HAPPENED WITH POOR YUNG BERG!

This dude. I think I am going to write Yung Berger and open letter than is going to tell him what he must do. My sources are telling me the truth, as they see it. Yung Berg actually was in Los Angeles, and he did get robbed. Point blank period. He was not pistol whipped, according to reports. According to my folks, the chain he had was ripped from his neck and taken. It may be time to chain…I mean, CHANGE the style up and rock a no jewels policy. Anyway, Berg just happened to have a reservation at the MGM for the next day. But, when the fight broke out he flew to Vegas that same evening and checked in his room at about 1:36 am.

WHAT HAD HAPPENED WAS…

A couple of people asked me what happened with Maino and I thought it was common knowledge. I guess this isn’t verified, but this is what I heard. As you know, a huge fight broke out the M2 club in New York as Maino and their crew held it down. From what I heard, some regular “joe” dude attempted to jump the “velvet rope” in an attempt to get in VIP. Well, I guess somebody checked him. And then all mayhem broke loose! I’ll never forget that disgusted look Juelz had on his face.

THE RETURN OF ASHER ROTH

I can’t even remember where I got this from, but Asher Roth is back in the lab and he’s working on new music. It is still early so I don’t know exactly what he has in store. One thing I believe is official is that he’s going to be working with the Neptunes on the next one. That’s interesting to say the least. The Neptunes are seeming a bit more earthly these days.

THE RETURN OF RAEKWON!

The indie music game is doing Raekwon right. I do believe we are going to see about three album from Rae this year along. You already know he’s got a thing with Ghost and Meth, but that’s not it. From what I am hearing (and this may be out there) Rae is going to be dropping an album this summer and another one in the winter too. Looking like  return to the 90’s chamber for The Chef!

ILLSEED’S QUICKIES

Trina has denied a relationship with Soulja Boy.

Conan O’Brien is on Twitter now. He’s got his show back! He and Lil Wayne are in a race to see who can get the most followers. No, but they should. Hit him @ ConanOBrien.

DMX has a mixtape coming out very soon, from what I understand.Max B is working on an appeal and reportedly looks good on getting out!

EPIC WIN OF THE DAY!I gotta eat at this spot…to hear the singers!

YUNG BERG, WE LOVE YOU!!!

They keep us talking, but if we stop talking about them then they should worry!

Walmart Underfire For Hip-Hop, Black History Month Selections

(AllHipHop News) Wal-Mart is being scrutinized for its decision to include a number of Hip-Hop documentaries in promotional displays for Black History Month, while rejecting a documentary on the history of blacks in the military. According to a report in The Chicago-Sun Times, the retailing giant rejected For Love of Liberty: The Story of America’s Patriots, a four-hour documentary by Frank Martin, from displays promoting Black History Month.

Th project, which took Martin 10 years to complete, is hosted by Halle Berry and narrated by Avery Brooks.

A number of top Hollywood actors appear in the documentary, including John Travolta, Danny Glover, Walter Kronkite, Angela Bassett, and the late Ossie Davis.

Wal-Mart is displaying DVD’s like Ice Cube’s The Player’s Club and Thug Angel – Tupac Shakur.“To not include that but to include the gangster rap things just seems crazy to me,” Martin told The Chicago-Sun Times. “It just defies logic. At a time when we need to influence young people with positive things, why would they not carry this amazing story?”

Wal-Mart based its decision on sales, price and release date according to a spokeswoman.
