Rap veteran turned actor LL Cool J is in talks to star in a spin-off of CBS’ television show, NCIS.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, LL is in talks to play the role of a tough, but likeable U.S. Navy Seal.

The rapper, who starred in the NBC/UPN hit sitcom In The House, from 1995-1999, was tapped to develop, produce and star in various T.V. shows for the network.
In 2007 LL starred as a detective named “Manny Baxter” in the 2007 pilot The Man, which aired on CBS.
Actor Chris O’Donnell is also up for a part as an undercover police officer on the new spin-off, which will debut during an episode of NCIS this spring.

Tale of the Tape is here, once again, to keep your ears clean and your mind sharp from the best and the worst of the (mix) tape scene. And this week, it just reminded us that it, like the relationship between Kanye and the media, it was all good just a week ago.
Why was it just all good? We start off with an uninspired Leak, and then wonder if it really is Just A Mixtape. We then get a reapplication of Hamiltonization, a visit from a couple of Dirt Merchants, and find out about the will of Boston.
Lil Wayne
The Leak 6
D.O.A
Every once in a while a Hip-Hop head can hear an artist teetering off the edge to the land of over saturation. Wayne crossed that line a while ago, but DJs seem to not get the message. The Leak 6 not only proves that everything Wayne spits on is not gold, or even decent for that matter (So Fly). Even if you got some exclusives from somewhere, some just arent worth putting out (Hot Revolver).
Mack Maine
Just A Mixtape
One & Done
Young Money affiliated artists have been getting some heavy buzz lately. Artists like Drake and Nikki Minaj have had their fair share of the blogs, magazines, and interview attention. It makes Wayne seem like he has an ear for young talent. However to bring a screeching stop to all the positive buzz comes Just A Mixtape. Mack Maine doesnt inspire anyone with lackluster freestyles (Mack Maine Adresses), forgettable songs (Man Cry), and over used concepts (No Panties). Frankly, this should be passed over like every other tax write off.
Charles Hamilton
The Best Of The Hamiltonization Process
Peep It
Charles Hamilton has had plenty of time on this column. The eccentric Harlem based residents Hamiltonization Process has brought the world, or at least the internet, a glimpse of him in his best (Brooklyn Girls), worst (Loser), and more often than not, odd (Lacey Duvalle). DJ Skee has bundled this all up to deliver to people a collection of the mans work. If you liked him before, and wanted to get a glimpse of just who this guy is, then look no further.
Dirt Merchants
Show Me The Way
Heavy Rotation
Coming from Californias capitol are the Dirt Merchants. Their latest project, the first in 4 years, Show Me The Way, is a good, albeit short, collection of work to prime listeners in as they prepare a sophomore LP. They seem to be a group that works together well in tandem (Show Me The Way) and can really hit with beats and rhymes (Prime Time) in that California style (Northern Cali). Hopefully it wont be another four years until something new comes out.
JTheS
My Will
Heavy Rotation
Boston is a strong music scene. With acts like Termanology, Statik Selektah, and Big Shug, its a wonder why they havent received that blow up treatment other cities are getting. JTheS, which stands for Jake The Snake, has recently released My Will. This tape has the ability to turn any Hip-Hop head into a fan with solid backbone of boom bap (Oil), mixed in with good production (In And Out) and solid rhymes (My People). Dont sleep on this one.
TALE OF THE TAPE:
Mogul 50 Cent has won the latest battle in his ongoing legal war with ex-girlfriend Shaniqua Tompkins.
The New York Supreme Court has dismissed Tompkins’ breach of contract allegation against her former beau.
Last year, Tompkins filed the $50 million dollar lawsuit against 50, real name Curtis Jackson.
In the case, Tompkins claimed that while she and 50 were together, the rapper made an agreement to split half of his future earnings with her.
Under the alleged rules of the agreement, Tompkins would remain at home and take care of their son.
This arrangement would give 50 time to fulfill commitments required for his music career, such as studio time, interviews, label meetings, and shows.
According to Tompkins, 50 reneged on this arrangement after becoming a superstar following the release of his multi-platinum debut, Get Rich Or Die Tryin’.
50’s lawyer, Brett Kimmel released a statement yesterday (February 5) applauding the court decision.
“I just received word that 50’s motion for summary judgment has been granted,” Kimmel said. Shaniqua Tompkin’s $50,000,000 lawsuit has been dismissed, in its entirety, with prejudice. Once again, justice prevails.”
The former couple has been at odds since early last year when 50 won a court order to have Tompkins and his son removed from his Long Island mansion.
When the property mysteriously burned down in a raging fire, both parties accused the other of arson.
To date, both have multi-million dollar lawsuits against each other over the accusation.
At press time, 50 Cent is continuing his media campaign against Miami rival Rick Ross, in preparation for the release of his long-awaited album Before I Self-Destruct.

TODAY’S RUMORS!
THE DAILY TWO CENTS
No daily two cents! This is a recession! Every penny counts!
50 CENT HAS WHAT?! MANNN CALL IT OFF! PLEASE!
Look here. I dont want to see anybody get ruined over this beef. I mean that. I really think Rick Ross is dope as an artist. But 50 Cent is just overdoing it right now. I am getting a rumor that 50 Cent has obtained the video of Rick Ross at his graduation from his corrections gig. I kid you not and the source of this information is somebody that has been dead on in the past. Oh boy.
Also, 50 Cent is reportedly looking to sign Jacki-O to G-Unit. No disrespect, but I dont know why he would take it that far. I think he might just fly her into NY like the baby moms or something. Anyway, Jacki apparently has a story to tell. I wonder if Trick Daddy has something to say. He was rumored to be going to G-Unit a ways back anyway. I have seen that the South is very unified and I dont know that well be seeing too many people turn on Ross and side with 50. I could be wrong though.
RICK ROSS GETS WITH YOUNG BUCK TO GET 50 CENT??
Here is the rumor on the other side of the coin. I am hearing that Rick Ross might be making some big movies. We havent heard from Young Buck in quite some time. But I am hearing that Buck and Ross might be joining forces to go at 50 Cent. This is very scant information, but it makes sense. As far as I know, Buck is still signed to 50 and still very dope. He may not be getting out of that deal this way. Why not go for broke, eh?
LIL WAYNE GOT SHOT?
Now, last night I started getting people asking me, Did Lil Wayne get shot?! I didnt know what to say, because I didnt hear that one at all! You know how it goes though! When two people email you about the same thing, you have to look into it. After a couple of calls and emails, I found that Wayne was perfectly OK and lacked any new holes in his body. He will make it to the Grammys for all to gawk at.
WHAT RAPPER IS LOOKING FOR THE IRS?
Good lord! A big name rapper (who shall remain nameless) reportedly did a last month and a well attended show. He apparently got half his guarantee for the concert upfront in cash. That was a smooth $150,000. Got this info straight from someone working the tour at the arena. Why anyone needs $150,000 in cash is beyond me, but I guess you need to make it rain somehow. I guess the second half of the money came from a check. I hope they are reporting that money, because they are truly looking for the IRS if they arent.
I HATE THE MUSIC GAME!
Im mad at Dr. Dre! There is a rapper named the Last Emperor. Do you all remember that name? Hes from Philly and a lot of people from PA and Delaware know and love this brother. Very lyrical and very smart. He got signed to Aftermath back in the 90s. Anyway, he never came out under Dre. The point? I heard the Last Emp is now a mailman somewhere in PA. Never fear, I am hearing hes got a new CD coming out this year and its going to be freakin incredible.
Click here for my fav Last Emp song, but make sure you look around for him. I will keep you updated.
IRV GOTTI CATCHES A HIGH SCHOOL GAME
I was chatting with the homey Jaren and hes a student at Rutgers University. Yesterday at school, there were a couple of high school basketball games held at the Louis Brown Athletic Center at Rutgers. For whatever reason, Irv Gotti was spotted sitting courtside at a high school basketball game between St. Patricks High School and St. Benedicts. Perhaps one of his kids plays for the team or cheerleads? If I am correct, Madison Square Garden hosted a game between the Cavs and Knicks and everybody was likely there. You know, Big Bron and Jay. Oh well! Its nothing and something at the same time.
DIDDY WALKS AROUND THE METAL DETECTORS!
What? Somebody thought they were going to search Diddy? No, siree. Diddy Combs refused to attend a party where he was the HOST, because the police wanted to search all of the guests including him. I heard Kobe Bryant and DJ Clue were among the big names at the party. But when they tried to pat him down, Diddy went spazz-ola and claimed he was being disrespected. Diddy left and never came back. He did hit DJ Clue to see if he could come in the back way. Diddys not letting anybody get the jump on him.

RANDOM QUOTES
Katie Couric said something that could warrant a pause for some reason.
She asked Lil Wayne “can you take me on a little journey through your face?”
Ray-J aint dating no Whitney Houston, like I told you. Brandy says too! (Rap-Up magazine)
Well, every time I ask Ray J about Whitney he always says thats just his friend. Hes not dating her. And I dont think that he would lie to me. I said, Well Ray, thats not the way it looks. People think that you and Whitney are in a relationship. He was like, Well, thats what theyre gonna think, but Im telling you the truth and Im not dating Whitney. Whitney and I are just really good friends and thats it. When I ask Whitney, she says the same thing, unless they are just pulling the wool over my eyes. But I think hes telling the truth.
Joaquin Phoenix says that his rap career is getting him respect for trying.
“My experience afterward was I had a lot of dudes come up and say, ‘We really respect you for doing it, putting yourself out there, and going with it.’ Because I think true hip-hop heads know that it’s hard, it’s going to be a hard transition, and people are going to be lining up just to make fun of me.” (translation: we pity you, dude.)
Travis Barker is supposedly back with his ex Shanna. At a Grammy party, he talked about it:
“[I’m] here with my babies’ mama, my wife and my kids, and I really can’t be happier.”

EPIC FAIL OF THE DAY!
My god. They must sell stupid in 40 ounces now. Police in Cleveland charge that a man called 911 after telling a dispatcher that two men had guns on him. Naturally, the man was in danger for his life. Guess what he did next? This dude straight up asked the dispatcher to hold on while he made a drug deal. HE DID THIS. Police arrested Alejandro Melendez for possessing cocaine. SMH. Dude hung up on the 911 person so the person called back to make sure he was OK. When the person called back, he put he/she on hold and made a drug sell. Rick Ross, this dude isnt. He said, “What you need? A 10-pack? You need a 10-pack? All right.” The cops came through and found coke on him.

Some 50 Cent News That Has Nothing to Do With Rick Ross.
I’m sure you remember that 50 Million dollar lawsuit 50’s son’s mother, Shaniqua Tompkins, filed a while back suggesting that 50 said she could have half his money? It was dismissed. According to thisis50, his lawyer said this:
“I just received word that 50’s motion for summary judgment has been granted. Shaniqua Tompkins’s $50,000,000 lawsuit has been dismissed, in its entirety, with prejudice. Once again, justice prevails.”
Looks like Mr. Jackson is on a roll.

“Big Bills” (Blaqstarr remix)
Harlem, New York rapper Jim Jones appeared in Manhattan Criminal Court this morning (February 4), where he pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor assault charges.
The rapper was officially charged on January 5, for his role in a Christmas Eve brawl with members of Ne-Yos entourage.
Jones was issued a summons by the New York Police 18th Precinct to discuss the brawl, which happened in the Louis Vuitton store on 5th Avenue in Manhattan.
Today, through his attorney, Scott Leemon, Jones stood before a Judge, where he entered a plea of not guilty.
I entered a not guilty plea on his behalf and [Jim] was released on his own recognizance, Scott Leemon told AllHipHop.com, adding that the Assistant District Attorney sought a $1,000 bail for Jones, which the judge denied.
A motion schedule was set today, with Jones next court appearance coming on March 24.

AllHipHop.com has confirmed that Joven Pineda Deala, brother of Black Eyed peas member apl.de.ap, was shot and killed yesterday (February 3) in the Philippines.
According to Chief Inspector Wilfredo Paulo, Deala’s girlfriend witnessed the murder.
The pair was reportedly eating in the victim’s car while outside the woman’s Angeles City home.
After the slaying, the gunmen allegedly fled the scene on foot. Deala, struck with a mortal head wound, died on the way to a nearby hospital.
At press time the police have no suspects, but confirmed they are looking for two individuals. Chief Inspector Paulo elaborated there was no apparent motive for the attack.
apl.de.ap is a founding member of the international superstar group Black Eyed Peas.
Since forming in 1992 under Eazy-E’s Ruthless Records, the Los Angeles-based group has undergone several musical and lineup transformations in route to selling 27 million records worldwide.
The group’s fifth album, The E.N.D. (The Energy never Dies), is slated to be released in May.
apl.de.ap has not released an official statement on the tragic crime, but has confirmed he will attend his brother’s funeral. Joven Pineda Deala was 21 years old.
