Cardi B’s allegedly throwing a microphone during a scorching Las Vegas poolside performance has landed her in legal trouble, as an Ohio woman is now suing the rapper for assault and battery over the 2023 incident.
The lawsuit, filed by a woman identified only as Jane Doe, claims the Grammy-winning artist hurled her mic directly at her after Doe tossed water onstage at Drai’s Beachclub.
The incident occurred during a daytime event as temperatures climbed into the high 90s Fahrenheit. According to Doe, she was following Cardi’s own request for the crowd to splash her with water to cool her off in the desert heat.
Doe alleges that Cardi B “overreacted” when she launched the microphone into the audience, striking her and causing injury.
The moment was captured on multiple videos that quickly spread across social media platforms, sparking widespread conversation about celebrity behavior and crowd interaction during live shows.
Las Vegas police opened an investigation after the incident, but no charges were filed against the “I Like It” rapper.
The microphone at the center of the controversy was later auctioned off for $99,000, with the proceeds benefiting the Wounded Warrior Project and the Friendship Circle of Las Vegas.
Doe’s legal team argues that the sale “exacerbated emotional distress” for their client.
Attorney Cierra N. Norris, representing Doe, is expected to hold a press conference in Las Vegas to address the lawsuit and provide additional details on the case.
