(AllHipHop News) R&B star Aaliyah lost her life 15 years ago after the airplane she was traveling on crash in The Bahamas. At the time, the “One In A Million” singer was dating music executive Dame Dash. The co-founder of Roc-A-Fella Records was a guest on The Real this week, and he spoke about how he could have prevented the death of his girlfriend.

“There is no chance that, if I was there, we would have been on that plane, so it would have never happened that way,” said Dame.
He added, “If I was there, I would have made sure that that jet that was supposed to be for her – the G-IV – she would have been on that. I wouldn’t have got on that plane, so it probably would have been different.”
Aaliyah died on August 25, 2001 at the age of 22. Reportedly, she and seven others were originally scheduled to fly out the next day on a larger aircraft, but they decided to leave the island earlier than planned on a Cessna 402B.
The airplane crashed shortly after taking off. Subsequent reports found that the plane was 700 pounds over its maximum take-off weight. Traces of cocaine and alcohol were also found in the body of the pilot who died during the crash as well.
