Singer/songwriter/producer The Dream can
now add label executive to his title, as he been named Vice President of
Island Def Jam Music Group.
The Dream, born Terius Nash, made the announcement today (August 27) via
his official Twitter page.
“I wanna thank everyone at Island Records/DefJam for their faith in me
and making me Executive Vice President of Island Records,” The Dream
said in a statement on his Twitter page. “Thank you to my team..my
manager Mark Stewart & my attorney Aaron Rosenberg for getting this 1st
step of a goal accomplished.”
He went on to thank a number of inudstry executives who have supported
him, including his production partner Tricky Stewart and Island Def Jam
Chairman, Antonio “L.A.” Reid and Universal Records’ Chairman Doug
Morris.
“I look forward to the challenge of rebuilding music for not only Island
Records But for Universal Records as a whole. Today I’m humbled and
blessed,” The Dream said.
For reasons unknown, The Dream also revealed today would be the last day
he posted to his Twitter page, although no reason was given.
The news comes during a high point in the 30-year-old’s career.
Last week, it was confirmed that The Dream and his girlfriend Christina
Milian applied for a marriage license in Los Angeles.
The pair are expected to tie the knot within the next 90 days.
The Dream was married once before, singer/songwriter Nivea, but divorced
her in 2007.
