A California woman has gone viral after claiming that she found male bodily fluid in a McDonald’s PlayPlace.
On May 18, @lil___red posted a TikTok describing the experience, which has amassed over 1.1 million views as of this writing. “It can’t hurt to share and raise some awareness,” she said.
What Went Wrong at the McDonald’s PlayPlace?
The woman says that she went to McDonald’s with her boyfriend and his niece because the young girl wanted to go to the PlayPlace. “She wanted to go, so we were going to take her,” she said.
She said that when they got there, no other customers were inside the restaurant at the time. According to her, her boyfriend’s niece immediately goes to the PlayPlace after they order their food. She said she then decided to go play with the girl.
The story takes a turn when she finds an unusual substance on the slide, she said. “So, we’re having fun playing around on it, and we’re gonna go down the slide,” she said. “I go to the slide, and I feel something on my leg.”
She said she initially assumed that the substance was jelly, so she went to the restroom. Once in the bathroom, she wipes the substance off, and it smears, she said. She said that after being suspicious about the substance, she decided to smell it. “It is what you’re thinking,” she says. “I don’t know what I can say here, but it came out of a man’s body.”
The woman expresses how disgusted she was upon realizing what she had found. “In the children’s PlayPlace slide at McDonald’s, people,” she says. “This is where your kids are supposed to go and play. That’s so disgusting. That’s so messed up.”
What Happened Upon Realizing What She Found?
She said that once she informs the employees, they immediately shut down the PlayPlace and clean the slide.
The couple realizes there is a camera around the corner that could reveal who went into the McDonald’s. Upon seeing the camera, she said her boyfriend called the police. After making the call, the boyfriend reportedly was informed that the police do not come to these types of calls, as there is nothing they can do.
The woman said she and her boyfriend asked the McDonald’s employees if they could watch the security camera footage. However, she said they were told they were not allowed to show the footage, as it was against McDonald’s protocols.
The woman expresses frustration at not being able to do anything about the experience. “The same person can come back tomorrow and literally do the same thing, and your kid can slide down in it,” she said.
Commenters were overwhelmingly disgusted by the situation and felt that the police should have been more involved. “I’m confused why the police wouldn’t get involved?” asked one commenter. “They need to take this seriously.”
“Call your local news station 100%,” added another. This is absolutely atrocious.”
Could the Police Have Done More?
Legal experts say police typically can investigate situations involving bodily fluids in public spaces, especially when children may have been exposed. This includes instances where the initial evidence is minimal.
Many states treat public sexual acts, masturbation, or intentional e########## in a public area as crimes such as indecent exposure, public indecency, lewd conduct, or disorderly conduct. In several jurisdictions, penalties can become more severe if minors are present or if the act occurred in a place intended for children. Legal sources note that these laws generally apply when someone intentionally exposes themselves or engages in sexual conduct in public where others could reasonably encounter it.
Many law enforcement officials and legal analysts also say police could at minimum document the complaint, create an incident report, collect witness statements, and determine whether security footage existed before any evidence was cleaned.
