AHH Stray News: Mos Def, Diddy, B Real

Rapper/actor Mos Def will host the “Sneakers Required New Year’s Eve Ball 2008″ at La Terra in San Francisco tomorrow (December 31). Contrary to the normal dress code restrictions often placed upon Hip-Hop fans at various establishments, organizers are requiring attendees to wear their most fashionable pair of sneakers. Those who attend are also being asked to bring an extra pair to donate to local charity H.E.A.R., which educates musicians about hearing protection. In addition to Mos Def, Goapele, DJ Mr. E., DJ Namane, Mike Tiger and others are expected to perform or spin during the evening. The event kicks off Monday at 9:00 PM.

Sean “Diddy” Combs will be formally honored with a star on the famed Hollywood Walk of Fame. Next week, Combs will be honored with his own star on one of Hollywood’s biggest attractions, which starts on Hollywood Boulevard and extends over 3 ½ miles. The walk features legendary celebrities who have made an impact in the worlds of music, film, radio and television. Combs first broke the news to AllHipHop.com in June of 2006. “It’s beyond my wildest dreams to think that one day I’m going to be walking down the street and walk past all the different great names, Sidney Poitier to Oprah Winfrey, to Frank Sinatra, Clark Gable, Humphrey Bogart,” Combs told AllHipHop.com.

B Real of Cypress Hill recently released a new mixtape titled The Gunslinger 3: For A Few Dollars More. The album, which was released nationally on Latin Thug Records, is the third installment in B Real’s Gunslinger mixtape series. The Gunslinger 3 is hosted and mixed by legendary DJ, Tony Touch. The album was produced by B Real and is the first project recorded at The Temple, B Real’s new private recording studio complex in Los Angeles. The Gunslinger features guest appearances by Sick Jacken of Psychorealm, Willie Malo (Mellow Man Ace), Cynic, Trace Midas and upcoming artists Young Dee and Viviana. Representatives for B Real told AllHipHop.com that the rapper was preparing to release his first official solo album in 2008.
