Rapper/mogul Jay-Z has announce that he will release an album full of all new material this November titled American Gangster.

While Jay-Z's version of American Gangster is separate from the official motion picture soundtrack, the new album is Jay-Z's lyrical interpretation of the movie, which stars Denzel Washington, Russell Crowe, Cuba Gooding Jr. (as Nicky Barnes), RZA, T.I., Ruby Dee, Common and others.

American Gangster is based on the true story of Frank Lucas, who is played by Denzel Washington. The movie chronicles Lucas rise to dominance over the Harlem drug trade in the streets of New York in 1970 by smuggling heroin into the country using the coffins of Vietnam veterans returning home from the war.

The movie is produced by Brian Grazer and directed and produced by Ridley Scott and opens in theaters November 2.

According to the sources, the first single from Jay-Z's American Gangster album will be titled "Blue Magic."

The album will feature a variety of producers, including Pharrell Williams.

Jay-Z's album American Gangster is due in stores November 6.

jay has nothing new to talk about anymore.. lets face it...its not gonna be an exciting album

he's gonna be rapping in that annoying nasal tone that he seems to fancy all of a sudden..

until he goes back to actually writing his lyrics down..which ensures that its not just some incohesive, one liner, filled rants....he just wont bring it...

i rather get a new kanye west album than a jay-z joint.

I think this album will make or break Jay-z. He flow is sick but his time is running out. He is in a totally different space and he might not touch the ears of his fans anymore. He sees the world from a totally different perspective, so i think it will be alot harder for him to talk about his personal life and have the average person relate to him. I still think he can make a good album, but as far as the hunger that he had with RD or BP won't be there.

@ west coast all star,

nigga do your research, American Gangster is about the new approach to being a hood star, at that time frame. Frank Lucas was a gangster by any measure, but he used capitalism and inferior product to corner the game, that is very American. Jay is the same way, he is just gangsta on another level, you can flip gangsta beyond the street. Hell , George Bush is a fucking gangsta.

Damn nigga, everything is not about that street shit, nigga read a book.

people keep saying his last album was wack, but i think it depends on who u ask. a lot of young people couldn't relate to a lot of songs on there. they were expecting him to still be rapping about slangin crack and all that. thats where 50 cent messed up at. everyone knows that he is a rich sob and he is not in the hood anymore. therefore, all the crack talk is irrelevant. people need to make songs about what they actually do and jay kind of did that on his last album. songs like 30 somethin did not sit well with a lot of people because they can't relate. a lot of people are broke as fuck and have horrible credit so that song was not cool with them. i know a lot of older cats that were diggin that song fa real, but most people got offended. he is giving the blueprint on how to make it though.

@misterheartbrea - Please, Please, PLEASE educate these folks potna.

Jay is a gangsta on a whole other level.  You don't have to be IN THE STREETS to be gangsta.  Fools out there...ya'll really think that 50 is gangsta?  Ya'll think that Game is gangsta?  Ya'll think that 90% of these fools rappin' is "gangsta"?  And even with that said...who cares!  You don't have to be a damn G to make a good album.  I thought Kingdom Come was actually a decent album in the "space" that Jay was in.  Dude doesn't live in Brooklyn anymore...he's not on the corner anymore, so why does he have to "revert" to that to keep the heart of the people?  The PEOPLE need to open their eyes and get they damn self outta the hood.  Crabs in a bucket mentality has got to stop.  I do agree, RD and BP were on a whole other level, but Jay was really in different "realms" at the time...

Sounds like Jay is gonna have to "dumb down" his experiences to appease to the weak and simple-minded folks who should be buying his albums.

@cOOP1974A - The reason folks was sleepin' on Jay's album vs. Kanye's album is because of WHERE these two cats come from.  Jay comes from the streets, or at least in some form or fashion, he's been "affiliated" with them.  Kanye is the midwest mid-income kid who went to college but dropped out.  His "backing" isn't the same as what Jay has had, so the streets have had an opportunity to embrace him for something he has ALWAYS been...which is non-confrontational, definitely not gangsta, and just plain as every day type swagger/individual.  SEriously, the hustler AND the law school student can feel and relate to "Can't Tell Me Nothin'"...it's universal.

But not Everyone could relate to 30 Something, or even when he was talkin' bout Hollywood (I do hate that song myself though...lol;).  I mean, basically, Jay put out something the "masses" weren't used too...weren't ready for....So, now he has to get back down to the basics.  The beauty of it is Jay sold 1.5 million of what most people call a "wack" album...and that is WITH all the damn leaking that took place:)

Kanye vs. Jay's "vibe" were fairly similar, but Jay is expected to do MORE with his street savvy...

Personally, I actually like Kanye's album better...but I thought Kingdom Come was GOOD for the realm Jay was in.

AG is gonna be a klassic...just watch...

When he uttered about retiring years ago I knew he was coming back. He did it to put the kibosh on Dame's movements and he did To make that big MOneeey. "For Jay-Z, Inspiration Arrives in a Movie"

He made no apologies for his transformation into a global brand. “Jay doesn’t live in Brooklyn any more,” he said. Rather, he ventured that “Kingdom Come” was a little too “sophisticated” for some listeners. “American Gangster,” he said, would be a return to a tougher, more unflinching view of street life.

Jay-Z is a combination of various styles of rappers who he managed to surpass with extensive marketing skills and the benefit of untimely deaths. The Hawaii Sophie fame Jay-Z would not sell any records. The whole "nigga what, nigga who" song was wack as hell but the kids liked it. The Jay-Z whom the GZA demolished back in the day in Brooklyn would not sell any records either. Jay-Z is AZ/Nas/Biggie/Jazz-O/Big Daddy Kane marketed in a very convenient package.

What I respect about the man is that he does understand the "nature" of the business better than a lot of people out there. Now Biggie had him beat and minus his early demise Jay-Z would have never been "king of New York" by a long shot. Tupac almost killed his career, because when he dropped the first Life and Times of Sean Carter he was on life support man because Pac had them cats shook. Remember this line, "I'm runnin to Pac asking where we went wrong" from "If I should die don't cry my niggaz" uh huh whatever.

Fortunately for a lot of rappers Pac met an early demise. So I appreciate what Jay brings to the game but for people like me that are old enough to remember how Pac single handedly went at all the major New York rappers in the game and still has out sold every rapper in the game even in death I would think that we can all stand to be stronger and come with more heat in our shit than what is out right now. Biggie Smalls is the only New York rapper that stood toe to toe against Tupac. How is HOV getting more burn in the GOAT category than B.I.G. when half his lines are bitten from B.I.G.?

These bammas also need to stop throwing around this "I am the greatest King whatever" shit too because most of Jay-Z lines and 50's lines, and even T.I.'s lines are far from great. Great is Rakim or Kane. They can teach these youngins how to write great rhymes because they are not doing that they think saying shit off the top of their head is profound. That shit is called freestyling for a reason get a pad, pen, or laptop and write your rhymes down.

But on the music, in the ATL gangsta grillz radio just dropped a lil bit of that Blue Magic (yall know they tease the hell out of records they break in the city) but I have to say, it is kind of crazy, Pharrell is stupid on the production

NOVEMBER 6th.

SHit lets be real, Lil Wayne should drop the Carter 3 on Nov. 6, to see who is the greatest alive. Wayne get ya numbers up lil nigga.

You said it dude.  I don't belive cats call themselves hip hop heads and go ahead and diss the cat that their favorite rapper idolizes and 90% chances got their swagger and part of their style from.

Also for someone's defense on dissing J being dat he's old, that CORNY.  They must be tele tubby watching & still pissing bed.  Only time they get their piece wet is when they piss on themselves.

I love everybody but can't stand haters.  Hating reflects insecurities baby!  Can't love nobody to you love yourself baby,
LOL!!!!

Anyways, once again every1 reading this if you have time google "Willie Lynch" and his "How to make a Slave Speech".  Read this and you learn about yourself.

Ok rappers look up to rappers whose been there and done things they hope to accomplish. way to state the obvious.. Jay idolized niggas too. so does that mean if u disliked Big and all the rappers Jays looked up too you have to dislike Jay too? just because a rappers "Looks Up to" which is clearly a stretch of words. If niggas dont like Jay z they dont like Jay z. Damn I understand he a spitter But He aint god.

TOO THE REST OF YALL HIPHOPOCRITES

Yall niggas are HIPHOPOCrites. If yall like a rapper he can do no wrong. But another rapper does something He's shuned.
A nigga like 50 or  wayne  and he's a dick rider But if yall look at yall comments, wow!, wow!.. 50 stop rappin about 100% hood shit and yall niggas uh say alll 50 went soft he aint hood nomore.. "Music doesnt reflect your hood status"!.. Just because Jeezy say he hood on every track yall niggas deem him the realist. But when Jay switch up his content yall make good points, He aint in that space anymore he doesnt need to do that. 50 even said that about Jays  ALbum.. But 50 change his content open up his fan base Yall dont look at why he did yall just judge him on doing it... Thats what make yall haters.. I'm not a Jayz Fan but I'm not going to be hating on him Cause thats what lame ass net niggas do..This site is made up of 75% of Young ass haters who know nothing about hip hop or see the business of Hip Hop.. One nigga say shit and the rest echo cause yall on here for net Fame. Yall niggas hate certain rappers but click on every headline that says their name. JUST to HATE. Haters are a waste of Oxygen 80% of the Time the Other 20%  is needed for motivation. "HAte yaself". dont be mad at the next man because your not there. Be Mad at yourself for wanting to be there But CANT!
