Just keeping it real... You turned a B+ album into a D- Remix Album. Hey, look at it like this...none of these tracks would have made the Real album.. the truth. The Intro is the hottest track on the album, then No Hook, Ingorant Sh!t, and a possible for Blue Magic...the rest???? nope. You have Hello Brooklyn that not even in key with Weez singing.. come on.. listen to it.. music 101.. and other tracks that have been used, sampled or done before.. I'm pretty sure you could have found different tracks for a better fit for Jay-Z than these..and I was waiting for THIS remix album b/c I KNEW it was gonna be fire.. wow, so disappointed this morning. Please tell me this was the cut that didn't make it? I'm not a producer but I have enough musical experience and background to know that you don't just throw tracks together and call it a Remix... This is a perfect example of no matter what HOv do niggaz gone hate. First off I think these mixes is trash except for No Hook and Sweet.  Jay is ALWAYS held to a different standard than other niggaz and thats why people always find something wrong wit his shit. He talks about worldly shit on Kingdom Come and people say he's wack and fallin off. He made "Aint I" and people say he talk about his money to much and they want to hear old Jay. He make American Gangster then its like why he taklin about hustlin? No matter what he do somebody gone find something wrong. I mean can niggaz not attempt to put yoself in the shoes of a nigga from the projects who is worth a half of billion?? No! Since I havent heard the whole original album, i guess my ears are "fresh"...meaning, I dont have the need or desire to compare it to the original album(or any of his previous works for that matter)...with that said, I think it sounds pretty good. Very soulfoul tracks, easy to listen to, and sonically they sound good. For the most part the producers did a job they can be proud of

1st, its obvious (easy to see) that everyone debating this is a Jay fan. I been debating this issue w/a few friends since the CD dropped.  I'm a Jay fan too and I'm glad everyone likes AG, I would hate to see Jay fail, BUT I'M NOT IMPRESSED.  To me its not the lyrics I really have a problem w/its the tracks to me.  He reminds me of Nas now. What I mean is the lyrical content is still in tact, its the track selection that fucks me up. I had at least 4 copies of every Jay album ever made and countless MIX-TAPE & CD FREESTYLES, but the fact is this CD does nothing for me. I don't care if it's a CONCEPT ALBUM, I didn't even buy this CD not 1 copy (not even bootleg).  Concept, Soundtrack or Compilation, I just like good music.

another mc gusto cd damn when does it stop. jay z is alright lil weezy alright when your the best you dont have to say it they were way better b4 they made those Im the best comments. Yeah they sell out thats about it.

Personally, it has nothing to do with "hate" when I say the cd was "alright". It wasn't classic at all.  "Reasonable Doubt" and "Black Album" were classics. This one is pretty good but no where near classic status.  I think people just got all caught up in the hype of Hov releasing a new cd.  That and the dick riders who refuse to admit when their "hero" releases less than classic material.  Look, one of my all time favorite rappers is Nas. I don't download any of his shit, I buy everything he puts  out, but "Nastradamus" and "Streets Disciple" were WACK!!! Doesn't mean its the end of the world, it just means that he had to come harder on his next shit. Stop playing favorites and just listen with an honest ear.  As for this remix album right here, its not workin for me at all.  Not that the beats are wack or anything, but they just don't fit over the original.  I could see Joe Budden taking these and really utilizing them, but for a Hov album... nah.

I just listened to the album. honestly, I think it confirms for me  that Jay is a dope MC, BUT what makes him HOV and Jigga Man, is his production team.... you already know..

NOT ONE of these beats complement this dude... THIS ALBUM IS A COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME... whoever arranged this album was doing it for themselves, to hear Jay over their beats and feel good about it.

I am not a producer, or an engineer BUT I am a consumer, poet, writer, music lover AND I have sense...However, I will say this too - the only song that gave me a reason to continue listening was Rollin'.. but again disappointed by the next track... I feel like listening to Souljah Boy.. YAAAAAHHH TRICKYAAAAHHH

ARGGGH, then I heard my favorite song (Fallen) and it made me want to listeeeen to the real album....

If that aint the truth, I don't know what is... mad props to ya Heart Beat for that real heat!

"I know" is easily the best track on this album, and Party Life. Well I mean we already knew Jada and Style P used that sample in "We Gonna Make". The other hot standout tracks was Success and Fallin. Fallin has that vibe, nice 80's early 90's era. I guess I was looking forward for this track the most, it's one of the best tracks on the original. Blue Magic sounds way better than the original. Last but not least you got to love the American Gangster track. shit is fire.

I don't know what all the fuss is all about. I mean this whole debate was good reading while listening to this mixtape, but everybody is goning to have their own opinion. You can try and sway it all you want, but in the end, it's still YOUR OPINION. What makes a classic album to you may not be the same requirements for the next person. Granted Jay-Z has critically acclaimed albums and gone platinum more times than lil kim's had dicks in her mouth. But there's NO ONE, I reapeat, NO ONE, living that's gonna be able to put out a classic after classic. Because once an artists makes that first one, anything they come out with, EVER, is gonna be compared to their previous one or their best one. It's a fact. No one is a fan anymore in hip hop. We all become record exec's, too worried about how much an artist sold, or our friend who spits better than that person, or deprive'n anyone else a chance to create their own opinon on an album because of how WE feel. Yes he does spit about drugs, money, hoes, cars and all that shit with this album. But everytrack actually says something, and the money, hoes, drugs and shit are characters in the album. Not only does he do that but he also talks about the racism of jenna six, speak on don imus useing hip hop as a scape goat, and our so called "black leaders" speaking for a WHOLE generation and future generations of hip hop that they where against from the start of NWA. So to say he's still spitting about the same stuff he did from reasonable doubt, Blueprint and so on and so forth, is just an unfinished statement. Yes he still involves some of the same things through out his career (i.e. drugs and shit), but he uses those topics in different way to paint a different picture. And artist only has SO many colors, but if his imagination is vast, then there's always gonna be a different picture. But, like I said, that's only MY opinion.

I've been coming to this site for years now and I'm just signing up today because I can't sit by idly as you negroes bad mouth my president.  Did you not hear Pres. Back to the matter at hand.  Heartbeat I've been reading your comments for a while homeboy and sometimes you've been dead on or you miss completely.  How many people in hear like ig'nant rappers...rappers who talk about pushing, murder, and pimping?  Hell I do too.  Well I did but I'm out of that phase in my life.  I'm 23 and a sophisticate, educated black man.  If you want that type of rap Hov made several lps with that kind of tone and did it head and shoulders above the rest (excluding the late greats, but on equal footing).  

I can't stand simple rappers with no vocabulary.  Hov has been intricate since day one.  I bought Reasonal Doubt in 1999 while in Germany and it was all I listened to.  When I got back to Tx it was all I listened too.  My sensibilites won't let me listen to an ig'nant MF rapper.  Jay is a very intelligent guy.  No one can do what he does.  That's why he is in the position he is in.  He's a professional.  I don't care about the remix (which is great buy the way) but giving the original a C+, you're out of your damn mind.  For the following reasons:  1. it was one of Hov's most personal albums (ex No Hook)  2.  great storytelling  3.  everything fit perfectly -- the concept was in tact  4.  word play was incredible as usual  5.  Jay addressed political issues  6.  and he is still growing

So don't use the excuse, "There's better things to rap about", to try and mask that you're a hater.  I don't know how many want to be rappers are on the forum but I think they compose the Jay-Z hater fan club because they are salty.  Long live Hovito!  

I wanted to add some nicknames that y'all can address me by...Ok...first, Mr-If-I-Think-It's-Hot-It's-Probably-Hot...then,  Crushing All Challengers (esp.  heart_beat_of_305MIA -- nothing personal but I think we'de have some good debates)

This joint was definitely a good & worth while listen too. Nice pick of tracks to go w/ the songs, real mello makes me wanna put sumtin in the air and I don't even Blow but nice job tho. I'm a Jay fan regardless Music Wise anyway.
