Man i never comment on songs that much, but this shit is the best song I've heard in a minute. His album is going to be one of his best. Every since his resurrection from the battle with Jay, it just seems like he knows his future. Like he's not confused on his craft.  Because before the battle, Nas was lost. He didn't know his place. The Nastradamus album is proof. But now he's better than ever. Nas needs to write Jay-Z a thank you note asap!!!

Naz is not the same rapper he was back then, not feeling him, too be honest never really liked his songs. I am failing to understand your motivation though, for going on about Nas not having as much as Jay-Z or 50 Cent or the business matrix we are all in.

Yall both are on point with your views.  Me and my homie use to have that same discussion.  We live in a capitalist society, so of course, money is the root of all power and evil.  I commend the Jay's, 50's and Russells for taking it to the next business level and illustrating the options for those who don't know or understand.  I also commend the Nas's and Dave Chapelle's who put money and fame secondary to doing what they feel is right for our people as a whole.  IMO, we should try to mimic the best attributes from both groups and use those to rebuild our communities and educate our people to the American game...cause that's really all it is...real life Monopoly.

I mistook you though. I totally agree on the subject of basically assisting others in raping oneself from bearing much of the fruits of labor. Whether it's this cd, a label, television, so on. I totally agree.

Notwithstanding, I believe there are times where one may forgo the immediate, personal, financial return for the long-term investment in ones own people. And that was really the basis of my first argument.

I understand it's a business and all, but have you been listening to this music lately? Looked at the media as a whole lately? I'm asking because for the most part, I've been forced away from it by the offensive shit going on. From the songs on radio being a "Bust It Baby", "Lollipop" (which I like), "Pop Bottles" and so on, constantly rotating... It gets to a point where, when the moons align and there's a song like this from Nas, some songs from the Roots, Joell Ortiz (if ever), the potential money return is an understandable investment in not only having something worth listening to, but putting ones own culture (hip hop, for example) back in a respectable bracket.

Basically, if you were a millionaire already (assuming he is), could you entertain the notion of forgoing yet another commercial hit for the impact of a positive message to your culture and possibly making a difference? Because if not for these instances, we're left with two choices, 1. Little girls listening to shit like, "I juss gave her a nick name, it's wet-wet/
Cause when we finished she mess up all the bedsets"  and then we act like we don't know what the hell happened to us or 2. Just abandon the damn genre and go to the catalog from the oldheads where they were actually saying something.

Ive only fucked wit 3 of Nas albums ( Illmatic, I AM and Stillmatic) but this shit might turn out to be his best album. Everything so far is crazy and he actually got good tracks this time around so far. This is some shit I would bump a year from now. This aint hott its timeless!

Nas is the man!  I like how he puts out what needs to be heard.  Although I don't like the 'N' word, I'm cool with the song and the album.  I was tempted to join the ranks of the haters that didn't like the fact that he changed the name, but then I realized that he just want the people to have this album.  The message won't change, just the name.  And right now, we all know the point he's trying to get across with this album, so the name shouldn't make any difference at this point.  Definitely coppin' this one when it drops.  ONE!

You might as well cut all the business corporation talk. The "business" ain't working no more. Neither is the old formula for putting artist out. That's why the major labels are scared. Because they are sinking ships, and their $5 fast food formula ain't working no more. Everything is digital now. They don't know how the adjust. Radio play? That means absolutely nothing now days. There's plenty of entertainers (because the folks on the radio that I hear are not MCs or even rappers) get spins 20 million times a day. Hit single and all, yet they do not sell 1 album. You got to ask yourself why is that? The answer is because the consumers are tired of that micowave music.

Back to Nas, the song sounds fine to me. I appreciate the substance. For everybody cimplaining about he doesn't sound the same, his voice, blah blah blah. The man is not 18 anymore, he's 35. Stop looking for a re-creation of Illmatic. Just appreciate what he's trying to do now.
