As for banning TIP from speaking to the kids...

Let me first say that I live in Atlanta, and the school system is fucked up.  Some counties are on the verge of losing their accreditation.  Especially in counties like Clayton...where kids are still using text books from the 1960s, and I ain't exaggerating when I say that!  ATL needs all the help they can get, and I think TIP (because he is a convicted felon with charges, but still overall successful) speaking to the kids would be a good look and even beneficial to the kids.  It sounds to me that ATL doesn't want to get outdone by a convicted felon.  

The older I get (I'm 28 now), the more and more I see how America operates on a double standard.  It's bullshit...plain and simple.  The best way to reach the youth is either through the youth, or through one who can relate.  America hates it when cats like Jim Brown can mediate between gangs and squash beef that the system can't even squash.  But if one of their heroes did it...please believe that revolution would be televised!

During "The Ryan Cameron Show," the radio host reported that the motive for the shooting may be over a promoter mistakenly thinking he had T.I. booked for an after party. The promoter supposedly found out that he had been duped by a person who said they could secure an appearance from the rapper. When they found out that T.I. was at another party he went to the location with several other men and waited for T.I. to leave the club.

The men allegedly used a .25 caliber pistol and a 9 mm handgun in the attack on T.I. and members of Grand Hustle, including Johnson. Reportedly one of the assailants was also hit, in apparent exchanged gunfire. He escaped though, and averted detection by being treated for his wound across state lines.

Cameron went on to report that authorities are currently holding two suspects in custody.

The way I see it, you can't be mad at the school system on this one. They made the right choice. What about all the children he's spoken to BEFORE he caught the charges. It nullifies what he's taught, so to alot of them, I'm sure he looks like a hypocrite. To go now and talk to more youth would be pointless unless we knew for SURE that he was done with that lifestyle. Hell, it's supposed to up to the parents ANYWAY. What's REALLY fucked up is that, for those kids we KNOW don't have some kind of authoritive figure in their lives and need help, we don't step up and HELP these kids ourselves as communities. There's no more love, everybody's out for themselves, but, I guess that's just the times we live in...right?

T.I. has BEEN trying to help the community, but the thing is, if he hadn't gotten caught with those guns, (AND NOT THAT HE WON'T GET MORE), cats would've lost their lives. And you KNOW some of them would've had children, who now, would have to be fatherless. It's a never-ending cycle my dude. So in essence, he'd only be helping some, while tearing others down at the same time.

I think T.I. is the perfect person to speak to the kids. Shit all them lil niggas do is listen to rap all day and get into trouble. and if a person like T.I. spoke to them, A well known award winning rapper who has some street cred, they would fuckin listen. Also I wanna say something about this "Snitchin" Thing. I hate how the term is thrown around. I agree with what you said about getting older and realizing how life really is. Not only that but its like that all over the world.

I was raised in the Westside of da A (Allen Temple, Vine City, Simpson Rd and MLK to name a few spots I've lived in)  and am proud to see how far T.I. has come......but I feel that dude fell off. There's no other way to put it. He needs to do something else besides entertainment when all of this clears up. All in all I wish him and his loved ones the best.

Why can't we all just get along? How about we sit around a campfire and listen to "American Terrorist" by Lupe or read and discuss "How the World Really Works" by Alan B Jones. Such media only touches the tip of the iceberg in regards to the true source of our societal problems.
