(AllHipHop News) Global superstar Will Smith will not be returning to battle aliens in the sequel to his 1996 hit movie Independence Day. After years of speculation whether the former rapper would reprise his role as Captain Steven Hiller, Deadline is now reporting Smith has informed Fox studio executives that he is passing on ID4 2.

The film is still going to be made. According to reports, original cast members Bill Pullman and Jeff Goldblum will be back. Roland Emmerich is also signed on to direct once again. Fruitvale Station and That Awkward Moment actor Michael B. Jordan was linked to the film last fall as well.
