Metallica Kinda Goes Hip-Hop With DJ Mix Master Mike

METALLICA TAPS A DJ PIONEER TO GO ON TOUR…BUT HOLDS THE HIP-HOP?

(AllHipHop News) Hard rock band Metallica will bring some hip-hop on the road with them on their upcoming North American tour.

The group will embark on the “WorldWired,” tour, which kicks off this May.

The band will bring Mix Master Mike with them for the upcoming 25-date outing.

Mix Master Mike, who is a founding member of the Invisibl Skratch Piklz, is also the longtime DJ for the Beastie Boys.

Now, he will serve as Metallica’s personal DJ throughout the evening on each night of the tour.

Mike will skip the hip-hop, in favor of mixing mostly rock records for the crowd, all the while employing his award-winning turntablist techniques.

“We’re psyched to announce that award-winning DJ and producer Mix Master Mike will be spinning some of your favorite (and ours!) hard rock and metal tracks throughout the evening at all of the stadium dates this summer,” the band said in a statement. “A pioneer in the hip-hop and DJ communities, you’ll be able to catch his skillful, hard-hitting scratch work once the doors open each night and between acts before we hit the stage.”

The 25-date stint will kick off in Baltimore, and roll through major American cities like Philadelphia, Houston, Chicago and Miami, before winding down in August in Edmonton Canada.
