(AllHipHop Original Series ) Earlier this week (January 28th) Dom Kennedy spoke EXCLUSIVELY with AllHipHop about Get Home Safely, his rise to fame and more. During the interview, Dom Kennedy gave a profound and poignant analysis of the uproar over Richard Sherman’s rant on San Francisco 49ers receiver Michael Crabtree following the NFC Championship game. For this edition of AllSports, Dom’s unedited and full analysis is placed on center stage:
It’s America. It’s America. It’s America. That’s really what that came down to. People getting out of line, and not even getting out of line, but showing their emotions over showing a passion. He probably been playing football since he was younger than 10 years old. Seven or eight years old, you know what I’m saying? That’s like doing the same thing for 20 years and getting to the top of your sport and making a great play and letting some of that emotion off against somebody who wants it as bad as you.
I feel like that’s what you want to see, you know. That’s what you want to see. You don’t see the NFL suspending them or fining them or none of that. If anything it helped the NFL and it brought more awareness to the cause. I don’t think it was bad at all. You hear a lot of words thrown around now by people who don’t know nothing about racism and this and that.
It was just two young Black guys competing on the football field. It’s like, it got to end somewhere. Man, they on the football field. Those are two guys who went to college who make a living playing professional sports. It has to end somewhere. They didn’t do nothing wrong or anything bad. It’s just unfortunate, now it came down to two Black guys. I don’t think I’ve ever seen an instance where it was two Black guys and there was this much racism.
