9X Grammy Award Winning Super Producer Bryan Michael Cox & Toyota Honor Veteran & Emerging Artists At Grammy Brunch

9X Grammy Award-winning super producer, songwriter, and musician Bryan Michael Cox hosted his annual “Breakfast Club” Grammy brunch at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Los Angeles.

Some of music’s elite and rising stars gathered hours before the Grammys for party and purpose as Cox once again honored music legends and emerging stars who have made incredible impacts on music.

Cox’s “Breakfast Club” brunch was once again powered by Toyota with a mission to not only honor groundbreakers, but also to support and celebrate the mission and work of the Music & Memory organization. Music & Memory is a non-profit committed to helping people overcome cognitive and physical challenges through music, and in support of the organization’s work, Toyota presented a $10k grant to the organization during the event.

This year the “Breakfast Club” brunch honored one of the architects of neo-soul, R&B singer Maxwell, and veteran songwriter, Siedah Garrett, who co-wrote Michael Jackson’s hit song “Man In The Mirror”. Veteran journalist Sway Calloway brought his special touch to the event as he held down the Toyota red carpet.

Maxwell and Sideah joined the all-star list of previous honorees that includes Sean “Diddy” Combs, Swizz Beatz, Jon Platt, Chris Hicks, DJ Khaled, and more.

Bryan Micahel Cox, Maxwell & Siedah all got a chance to reflect on Maxwell and Garrett’s influence and impact on music. Garrett also revealed that she has been the voice of Toyota in their commercials for years.

Cox shared touching anecdotes about the first time he heard the music from both, and Maxwell encouraged young singer-songwriters to think about longevity and creating timeless and classic music that they would be proud to perform at age 50.

Emerging singer-songwriter Guordan Banks was also given an honorable mention as his story of using music to overcome a speech impediment as a child was shared. Bank’s story was a true testament to the power of music, and how it connects us all.

Bryan Michael Cox took a moment to share with AllHipHop’s Rea Davis, the importance of his annual Grammy Weekend brunch.

“The importance of this brunch is really to give to the people that I care about. The musicians, the talent, the creatives, the songwriters, the producers, the artists. That’s really why I started this brunch, and it really just gets bigger and better. I’m super proud of this event; I’m just happy. My fondest Grammy memory is probably, I mean I won 9, but the won I won for Mary {J. Blige]. Mary embraced me in a way that a lot of artists [hadn’t]. A lot of times artists..if you aren’t the super producer in the video talking on the record [jokes], a lot of times, you get forgotten. Mary made sure that me and Johnta [Austin] didn’t get forgotten,” said Cox.

Congrats B. Cox on all of your success!

Michael Jackson Still Rules Album Sales; “Thriller” First Album Ever To Earn 33x Diamond Status

(AllHipHop News) Michael Jackson continues to justify why he gained the title “The King of Pop,” eight years after his death at the age of 50.

Michael Jackson’s landmark album Thriller has just been certified as the first album in history to earn 33x Diamonds.

That means the record has sold 33 million copies and streams, making it the best-selling release in history.

Worldwide, the overall sales for Thriller, counting physical copies and streams, now surpasses the 1 billion mark.

“Thirty-five years later, Michael Jackson’s Thriller remains as timeless and iconic as ever,” said Cary Sherman, Chairman, and CEO, Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). “Thriller has now become the first and only album to achieve an RIAA 33X Diamond Award, a moment forever etched in Gold & Platinum Program history. Congratulations on another ‘Thriller’ milestone.”

Mike’s album Bad was also just verified 10x Diamond, in recognition of United States sales and streams of 10 million units.

Thriller also had an impact on Hip-Hop and has been sampled by numerous rappers, including Esham, Nas, Redman, Dr. Dre and others.

Will Angie Martinez Finally Release The Full Version Of Her Famous 2Pac Interview?

(AllHipHop News) Angie Martinez wrote about her now-famous 1990’s era interview with Tupac Shakur in her best-selling memoir My Voice.

The question still remains if the legendary radio personality will ever let the world hear the full 2-hour audio from that conversation.

Martinez addressed the likeliness of that Q&A coming to light during an “Ask Me Anything” session on Reddit.

She responded:

Of course this is the first question. I really wish I had an answer for you. I was working on trying to get in touch with his mother before she passed to ask her if she had any ideas of what she would want to do with it, just out of respect and unfortunately, she passed and I just haven’t really figured out a plan of action, since then, but I do know that people really want to hear it. It is my intention, at some point, to put it out. I just want to make sure that it’s done in the best way, most respectful way possible.

The Pac interview has been kept in the vaults because Martinez felt it could have upset some of his rap peers.

At the time, the tension between West Coast and East Coast rappers was at a high, and Martinez did not want to add to the possible hostility involving Pac, The Notorious B.I.G., and others.

Martinez’s AMA also included a Reddit user asking the Power 105 host if she still had a cigarette pack she took from 2Pac during their interview.

The native New Yorker stated:

I totally do have it. It is in a storage box in my storage room. There’s like two cigarettes in it. And yeah, it’s weird, I find little things here and there. Like, I have Eazy-E’s business card that he gave me at an event once. I found that recently. And not even just in my career, like I literally have a pin that just says Champs, when I used to work at Champs. It’s like my employee pin. It says, Angie. I have that. So yeah, I’m not necessarily a packrat, but I do have four bins of like things that are pretty cool to have. Just like laminates from all the events and things like that. Yeah, a ton. I have a ton of stuff. I found you know those little cards that come with the flowers when you get flowers in the mail? I found a card from Damon Dash that said “Sorry – Damon Dash”, so I don’t know exactly what he was apologizing for, but it must of came with some flowers in a bottle or something. I just found that not too long ago, which was pretty cool.

Did Kanye West Ban Media From His Yeezy Season 5 Fashion Show?

(AllHipHop Rumors) Apparently Yeezy Yeezy is not here for the press right now.

When celebs and event planners want to keep things low profile they ban media from covering the event sometimes.

Apparently Ye’s Yeezy Season 5 reveal was a bit different than his past NYFW shows.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
According to ET, West has calmed down tremendously following his hospitalization, but he’s still been concentrating heavily on the fashion show.

You probably noticed that you didn’t hear much about the show this year, and very little media coverage as Ye reportedly had that guest list on LOCK!.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

“His main focus is making this collection great, having his close friends and family there, and have the buyer have the most positive experience,” said an insider.

Ye’s Yeezy Season 4 reveal was reportedly a disaster with models being dehydrated and being unable to walk in uncomfortable shoes. Oh yeah, it started an hour late in 90 degree weather also.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This time Yeezy opted to show the world his new collection without the media present. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

“They don’t want another element to make more drama. The last fashion show on Roosevelt Island was a disaster, and the media made it even worse. They’ve learned they don’t need the media to make it even bigger. His focus is on getting the fashion community to accept the line and his creations. He is just focused on production elements of the actual show right now,” said an inside source.

Well those who were “lucky” enough to get an invite, did get a copy of the Yeezy Season magazine as well as a t-shirt with the words “Lost Hills” on it.

With or without media, if something crazy goes down Yeezy, best believe it’s going to get leaked immediately. LOL.

I just want more out of Ye’s line. His line is something I’d expect from a mumble rapper to be honest.

Russell Simmons Says Anyone Who “Isn’t A White Male” Is A Risk Ahead Of Massive Pro-Muslim Rally

(AllHipHop News) Thousands of people of all faiths and ethnic backgrounds will join Russell Simmons, and a mixture of religious leaders on Sunday (February 19), to protest Donald Trump’s “Muslim Ban” to show solidarity with people who follow Islam.

Russell Simmons and longtime associate Rabbi Mark Schneier, who head up the Foundation For Ethnic Understanding (FFEU), will host over 50 organizations at the second “Today, I Am A Muslim Too” rally.

According to Russell Simmons, anyone who is not a white male is in danger under President Donald Trump’s administration.

“African-Americans, women, Latinos, Asians and LGBTQ are all at risk, but there is no freedom in that privileged status either because the spirit of the oppressor is oppressed as well. We are living in a time when unity will make America great. This is a special moment for all Americans of good will to band together to promote the kind of compassion and equality for others that we want for ourselves,” said Russell Simmons Chairman of the Foundation for Ethnic Understanding.

Rabbi Schneier said he was profoundly inspired by the worldwide demonstrations over the travel ban following the infamous executive order, which was ultimately blocked by the Supreme Court.

“We need to come together again, in the heart of Times Square, people of all faiths and ethnic backgrounds,” said Schnier who organized the first “Today, I Am A Muslim Rally Too,” which drew over 5,000 people in 2010.

The rally is scheduled to take place from 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM in Times Square, at the corner of 48th St. and Broadway.

Roy Jones Jr. Talks Floyd Mayweather vs Conor McGregor And MMA vs Boxing

(AllHipHop Features) Boxing and MMA have become fierce rivals in recent years and the combat sports don’t see any waning in the competition. Future boxing Hall of Famer Roy Jones Jr is set to fight this weekend in Wilmington, DE and he is not holding anything back. Jones, a Pensacola-bred, is fighting a man that specializes in bare-knuckle brawls. AllHipHop’s Chuck Creekmur talked to the 48-year old living legend about his views on Floyd Mayweather’s prospective fight with UFC’s Conor McGregor and the general state of boxing vs MMA.

AllHipHop.com: When you retire from the sport of boxing. How do you want to be remember?

Roy Jones Jr: I was a man off my word. When the opportunity came, I did exactly what I said I was gonna do. That’s the only reason I am fighting. Everybody says, “Ahhh, you should quit.” I told that man (Bobby Gunn) if the opportunity ever came up that we were gonna fight, we gonna fight.

AllHipHop.com: We mentioned Floyd Mayweather. It looks like they are going to make this fight with MMA fighter Conor McGregor. It is gonna be “a thing” for the people, but I think its going to be easy work for Floyd. Do you have any thoughts on that?

Roy Jones Jr: (Laughs) It is a big event. We must admit that. I’m not going to say its not a big event, but if people think Conor McGregor, (an MMA fighter) with no true boxing background is gonna beat Floyd Mayweather, they are out they’re minds. We’re going to watch it, because its an enormous event…not because Conor has a chance. They don’t call Floyd Mayweather one of the greatest fighters ever for nothing. People need to get that understood.

AllHipHop.com: You fought an MMA dude last year, I think.

Roy Jones Jr: I sure did.

AllHipHop.com: You lit him up.

Roy Jones Jr: What else did he expect? That’s what we do. If we go to MMA…if Floyd goes in there with Conor McGregor (and does) MMA, Conor McGregor is gonna beat the hell outta Floyd. That’s what Conor McGregor does. But if Colin gets in that ring, he’s got another thing coming. Its not gonna happen.

EXCLUSIVE: Fighter Roy Jones Jr. Is Back For Boxing, Bars And Brawls

AllHipHop.com: And boxing, lets be real, we don’t see the same star power as people like yourself. Floyd almost seems like the last of this breed. The personality aspect of it. Do you feel its the same? What can boxing do to come back in the eyes of the average consumer, not guys like us.

Roy Jones Jr: We are in the microwave era. When I say that, I mean we want everything to happen quick. If we don’t have quick and right away, we don’t want to take the time or put in the time. When I came up and when Floyd came up, if you had been boxing for a year, there was nobody, nowhere that thought anything of you. Nobody was gonna become a champion in boxing in a year. That was not gonna happen in our day and time. That’s how different the skill was. Nowadays, it don’t take but 2-3 fights (in boxing) and 1 fight in the UFC, and you can be world champion. Its like the microwave era, used to having things quick.

Now, somebody (MMA fighter) that wouldn’t have been nobody as a boxer, because it took too long for them to develop or learn the whole skill. But now you put a few skills together, you do some Jiujitsu or whatever, some wrestling, put all that together and you can be champion in a couple months. Its really not how we were raised. Its not happening just in boxing – all sports. Now you can play against one team all the way until the semi finals and you can (join other opposing team) the next year and everybody is OK with it. Back in the day, we would have never thought Magic Johnson would go play with Michael Jordan. We would have never thought Julius (Dr. J) Irving would go play with Magic Johnson. No! That was not gonna happen. We didn’t have to worry about that. That was not even a fear. Nowadays, that can happen and we might be ok with it. Not just boxing, all sports have been watered down.

AllHipHop.com: Right.

Roy Jones Jr: We live in it, but we don’t have to conform to it. I’m still me. I’m a fighter. I don’t got no fans. I fight for a living. I don’t care who it is. They want it, they can get it. That’s what Roy Jones knows. That’s all I’m gonna ever know. You want it? Come and get it. I got it for you.

AllHipHop.com: Aiiiiiight! We’ll be there for the fight, Roy. We appreciate you and love you, man and salute.

Roy Jones Jr: Thank you, appreciate it.

Roy Jones Jr meets Bobby Gunn in a clash for the WBF World Cruiserweight Championship.

Killa Cam Was Ready! Cam’ron & Joe Budden Have A Big Misunderstanding!

(AllHipHop Rumors) Uh oh! So apparently Joe Budden weighed in on the tension between Dipset’s Cam’ron and Jim Jones during his recent -I’ll Name This Podcast Later’ segment.

Budden addressed Cam’ron saying he copyrighted the name “ByrdGang” without consulting Jim Jones first. As you know, ByrdGang was a rap collective formed by Jones in 2006. Cam always claimed that he felt it was a spinoff of Dipset though. Budden decided to let it be known how he felt about the situation.

“Dog, when he said, ‘You told me you wasn’t doin’ nothing with ByrdGang, so I copyrighted it,’ I would’ve f***ed him up — immediately! I’m f-cking you up, I don’t care if you’re my brother. I don’t understand that.” said Budden.

As you know, Killa Cam is always ready for a clap back, so he caught wind of it all and had something to say!

Word got back to Cam and of course the fade was offered up to Budden via an Instagram post.

“Somebody wake Joey up.. Cause he ain’t gonna open my Dm.. Despite what people think.. I got genuine love for capo. We know each other’s families.. It would never go there. (Not on my end) but u.. U can’t afford these problems.. U think ransom was at ya door..,” said Cam.

Welp apparently Budden called Cam quickly, because Cam took down the original post and replaced it with a video of Budden’s girl, Cyn Santana, rapping “Suck It Or Not”, and said that he apologizes for “jumping the gun.” LOL!

Woman Arrested For Harassing Sean “Diddy” Combs Says She Was Recruited By The Devil

(AllHipHop News) A woman in Florida who pretended to be the fiancé of Sean “Diddy” Combs, was recently busted for insisting she was assaulted and beaten by the business mogul.

An insane series of incidents started unfolding in Miami Beach, Florida last month, after Jermelah Jones made several 911 calls, claiming Diddy’s own family was holding him captive and assaulting him.

Jones made her initial calls to 911 on January 23, alleging that she was Diddy’s fiancé and that he had been taken hostage.

When police responded to Diddy’s estate in Miami, his relatives answered the door and stated the hip-hop mogul was fine and sound asleep, cuddled snugly in his bed.

Diddy also told police he was not engaged to Jones and had never even met the woman before in his life.

Jones’ behavior intensified in early February when she made more 911 calls to the cops, who told Jones she would be charged with a crime if her antics did not come to a halt.

She eventually showed up at Diddy’s house and attempted to get inside. Cops tracked Jones down and charged her with making false statements to law enforcement officers.

According to reports, Jones told police she had been “recruited by the devil and his people.”

Migos’ Offset and Takeoff Make Power Move With New Global Publishing Deals

(AllHipHop News) Rappers Takeoff and Offset from hit rap group The Migos made a significant business move this week when they entered into a worldwide publishing deal with Reservoir Media.

Reservoir’s Faith Newman signed the pair to a worldwide contract, which will cover the administration of their entire catalog.

The deal will place Migos’ music in movies, TV shows, films and other avenues, with the intention of maximizing their earnings beyond traditional music channels.

“Migos is without a doubt the hottest hip-hop group in the game right now,” Reservoir SVP of A&R and Catalog Development Faith Newman told AllHipHop.com.

“I can’t wait to work with Takeoff and Offset to help them capitalize on their huge success,” added Newman, who brought the rappers to the roster.

Some of the achievements over the past three years for The Migos includes creating hit singles like “Look At My Dab,” which went viral when Cam Newton helped popularized “the dab,” in addition to their song “Versace” with the Drake.

The Migos latest chart victory came thanks to their song “Bad & Boujee,” which shot to #1 on the charts, just like their latest album CULTURE.

Migos joins Reservoir’s growing Hip-Hop roster, which includes Nate “Danja” Hills, Statik Selektah, 2 Chainz, Joey Bada$$, and others.

Joey Bada$$ Releases Mountain Dew & NBA Sponsored Song “Victory” (AUDIO)

(AllHipHop News) Earlier this week, reports began circulating that Joey Bada$$ was teaming with Mountain Dew and the NBA to release a new track.

Joey’s “Victory” has now hit Soundcloud.

The song includes the Brooklyn native giving a shout out to his sponsors and name dropping Cleveland Cavaliers player Kyrie Irving.

According to Bada$$, “Victory” will not be part of his upcoming sophomore album.

“Victory is not on #aaba. It is a song that I did in collaboration with [Mountain Dew] & [NBA] for #AllStarWeekend,” wrote the Pro Era frontman on Twitter.

A November 2016 tweet from Joey stated A.B.B.A  would be released at the “top of the year.”

However, an exact release date for the project has not been announced yet.

Joey’s debut studio album B4.Da.$$ came out in 2015 to positive reviews.

The LP featured production by Kirk Knight, Statik Selektah, DJ Premier, Hit-Boy, and others.

Adele Doesn’t Love Beyonce As Much As She Claims!

(AllHipHop Rumors) Adele seemed to win over some and get the side-eye from others while seemingly dedicating her Album Of The Year Grammy win to Beyonce in light of Beyonce’s snub for the very same award.

While Adele has claimed for sometime to be a dues-paying card-holding member of the Beyhive, it seems like she doesn’t love Beyonce as much as she says she does.

Adele gave an eyebrow-raising performance in the George Michael tribute at the 2017 Grammys. The tribute wasn’t stellar, and home girl was off key a time or two, but it was a “most talked about” performance because Adele restarted the performance midway through it.

Welp it looks like we will be talking about it for a new reason today! According to Billboard, the tribute wasn’t supposed to be a solo performance, Beyoncé and Rihanna were going to also be a part, until Adele shut it down.

Apparently George Michael’s family didn’t want a tribute initially, but when they finally gave in, Adele was their only option.

Adele claims that the family was very specific that it be her in the tribute, but Michael’s manager actually wanted RiRi, Bey, and James Corden to celebrate different George Michael songs from different eras since Corden launched his “Carpool Karaoke” series with Michael in the passenger side!

Apparently Adele “knew” exactly what she wanted to do with the tribute, and it sounds like: be selfish to me! Wouldn’t you have rather seen all of them in the tribute!

Pusha T Talks Release Time For “King Push” Album & Confirms Kanye West’s Working On New Project (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) G.O.O.D. Music has already started off 2017 with a #1 album, thanks to Big Sean’s I Decided taking the top spot on the charts.

The label is looking to drop more projects this year.

G.O.O.D.’s president Pusha T spoke with 93.9 WKYS’s The Fam In The Morning, and he revealed his own LP should be arriving before summer.

“Springtime, I’m coming with a new album entitled King Push,” said the Virginia native.

In addition, Pusha confirmed G.O.O.D. Music founder Kanye West and R&B singer Teyana Taylor are also working on projects.

“Ye’s working on a new album. Teyana Taylor is working on a new album,” Push stated.

Martin Shkreli’s Listening Event For Unreleased Wu-Tang Clan Music Reportedly Cancelled

(AllHipHop News) Martin Shkreli was reportedly ready to play unreleased music from Wu-Tang Clan in New York City.

The controversial public figure had announced “An Evening With Martin Shkreli” on Facebook.

The “presentation/lecture” was reportedly scheduled to take place at Webster Hall on January 20 and would have included the indicted pharmaceutical executive playing tracks from his unreleased music collection.

Shkreli reportedly purchased the one-of-a-kind Wu album Once Upon a Time in Shaolin for $2 million, and he claimed to have access to Lil Wayne’s long-delayed Tha Carter 5.

After posting promotional items on Eventbrite and social media, the man also known as “Pharma Bro” returned to Facebook to reveal his NYC event will not happen.

“Webster Hall has cancelled the 2/20 event,” posted Shkreli. “It’s sad that a couple of threats can cancel a 500 person event people wanted to go to.”

In addition, Shkreli faced protests while attempting to give a speech at Harvard on Wednesday night.

The protestors began chanting “people over profits” outside the university’s venue.

Shkreli was heavily criticized when his company raised the price of an AIDS-related drug from $13.50 to $750 per pill.

He was arrested for securities fraud in 2015.

Chance The Rapper Addresses Donald Trump’s Threat To Send “The Feds” To Chicago

(AllHipHop News) Chance The Rapper has become the latest Chicago-raised artist to weigh in on Donald Trump’s Twitter statement about the violence in Chicago.

“If Chicago doesn’t fix the horrible ‘carnage’ going on, 228 shootings in 2017 with 42 killings (up 24% from 2016), I will send in the Feds!” wrote Trump on the social media platform in January.

Chance and Chicago Bulls player Jimmy Butler were asked about the tweet during an interview with ESPN The Magazine.

“I hope he’s coming in to do some type of federal overturn of our state and city budgets in terms of schooling and housing. I’m tired of n-ggas talkin’ about Chicago like it’s a Third World country. Like, that it’s not a place of booming business with a very successful downtown and all types of new development,” stated Chance. “It sounds like he was announcin’ he was going to war with Chicago. I don’t like to look at sh-t through that lens.”

Butler added, “You go down there and you change people’s lives. You make them want to do better for the next person. And that’s when Chicago is going to be a beautiful place, and nobody’s comin’ here talkin’ about how bad it is like he said, like a Third World country. ’Cause that’s not it.”

Previously, Chi-town representatives like Common and Twista have also addressed the President’s threat to use federal power to counteract the violence in the city.

Kanye West Unveils New Yeezy Line During New York Fashion Week

(AllHipHop News) Three months after being hospitalized for exhaustion, rapper Kanye West made his first major public appearance on Wednesday, turning up for his Yeezy fashion show during New York Fashion Week.

With his wife Kim Kardashian West in the front row next to Vogue editor in chief Anna Wintour, West debuted the fifth season of his high-end athleisure wear collection for Adidas to the fashion world’s elite.

The show, which has become one of the most exclusive presentations during recent fashion weeks, was not live-streamed on the music streaming website TIDAL as some of West’s shows have been in the past.

Many social media users expressed their frustrations when they learned they would not be able to watch online, but critics were positive about the 39-year-old singer’s latest runway show, saying the emphasis was on his new collection, rather than him.

“To me it felt like the most traditional fashion show that he’s done,” said Rickie De Sole, W Magazine’s fashion market and accessories director, who was at the show.

“It had a polish to it. It felt like a serious fashion show. It felt substantial and there was less hoopla. It really was all about the fashion,” De Sole added.

The collection was dominated by denim, high-waisted jeans, hoodie sweatshirts, baseball caps, cargo pants, knee-high boots and, of course, sneakers.

Muslim model Halima Aden, the 19-year-old Somali-American who competed for Miss Minnesota wearing a burkini and who recently scored a major modeling contract with talent agency IMG, strutted the catwalk wearing a floor-length fur coat and a hijab.

Buzz had been building around the appearance of the so-called “Yeezy Runner” after West was photographed wearing the oversized white sneakers by paparazzi in January.

Kardashian appeared in athleisure wear herself, a sleeveless, see-through turtle neck shirt, track pants and an over-sized winter coat, all of which were maroon.

During the presentation, there were roughly 150 posts per minute about the Yeezy line on Twitter, according to social media analytics firm Zoomph.

The “Jesus Walks” singer emerged as one of Donald Trump’s most high-profile supporters during the 2016 election campaign and met the then president-elect at Trump Tower in New York on Dec. 13, making him the target of outrage and sarcasm from fans on social media.
