Drake Tells Court He Had Nothing To Do With Detail Getting Brutally Beat Down

(AllHipHop News) Drake is asking a judge to dismiss a lawsuit filed by producer Detail over a beating he allegedly suffered at the hands of the rapper’s bodyguard in 2014.

Detail, real name Noel Fisher, launched legal action against the “Hotline Bling” star in June, claiming Drake set him up by inviting him to his Calabasas, California property, only to have a security official, named Chubbs, allegedly attack the visitor.

The beatmaker claimed his jaw was broken in the reported bust up and required multiple surgeries, while he suggested the incident was revenge for Fisher turning down an earlier offer to executive produce Drake’s music, which would have tied him in to an exclusive deal.

He demanded unspecified damages for the assault case, including funds to cover his medical bills.

Drake has now hit back at Fisher, insisting he had nothing to do with the altercation.

In new court papers obtained by DailyMail.com, the Canadian artist accuses Fisher of provoking Chubbs, maintaining his bodyguard had simply acted in self-defense.

He goes on to blame Fisher’s injuries on his own carelessness and negligence, and requests the lawsuit be thrown out and for the plaintiff to pay his legal bills regarding the case.

Fisher, who made an appearance on Drake’s 2015 track “305 to My City,” is the producer of hits by Lil Wayne, Wiz Khalifa, Jennifer Lopez, and Beyonce, for whom he created “Drunk in Love.”

Faith Evans To Drop Album “The King & I” Featuring Duets With The Notorious B.I.G.

(AllHipHop News) R&B songstress Faith Evans is dropping an album entitled The King & I,  featuring duets, remixes, and unreleased verses with her deceased former husband The Notorious B.I.G.

Billboard reports that a hologram of the legend produced by ARHT Media will be used for the first video released to promote the new project.

The new hologram also has the potential to be used in a live setting as well, along with various other potential applications.

“Hypothetically, if a brand wanted to use it in a commercial, to sponsor a tour or an idea, if it was something in the neighborhood where he grew up or in a venue that was familiar to people or his lyrics — we’re thinking from that perspective,” Biggie’s former manager Wayne Barrow stated.

Barrow also added: “We have the opportunity to take him to places that he’s never been before, but where he’s revered nonetheless: Japan, China, London.”

In addition to Faith’s upcoming project with the legend, the singer also has completed a documentary featuring footage of Biggie at home and in the studio.

The new documentary and upcoming album The King & I are both set to drop March 2017.

YG Says The Rap Game Is F-cked Up!

A lot of rappers new and old have been frustrated with the state of Hip Hop and the issues with the rap game and it’s current status.

YG recently decided to take to Twitter to voice his frustrations about some of your “favorite” rappers.

“The rap game f**ked up,” he tweeted.

He followed up with another tweet that read,

“P#####.”

We are uncertain as to what caused the “My Hitta” rapper to tweet these things, but we do know he’s no stranger to controversy with others in the business.

As you know. YG is also unhappy with the current state of politics and this crazy election. The rapper has embarked on his ‘F-ck Donald Trump’ tour where he performs a track that has the same title.

Yes, the rap game is messed up, but is it fair for YG to speak on it? Is he part of the reason why it’s messed up or is he an exception?

Chief Keef Blasts Colored-Haired Rappers, Says The “F-ggot Sh-t” Is Ending In 2017 (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) Did Chief Keef take shots at Lil Yachty and Lil Uzi Vert?

That’s the question people are asking after watching a video of Keef blast rappers with colored hair during a show in California.

“All these f-aggot ass n-ggas rapping today, shaking they booties and all the gay ass sh-t, until 2017 that’s how long they got,” said Chief.

The Chicago native added, “All these blonde-head, blue-head, orange-head… they can finish shaking they ass. All that f-ggot ass sh-t, it’s ending in 2017.”

According to KGW, police believe a fight broke out prior to the shooting. Game had not begun performing before the incident took place.

There are no reported victims at the moment. It could be possible a wounded individual left the scene before police arrived.

French Montana Cancels Release Of Sophomore Album “MC4”

(AllHipHop News) French Montana has revealed that he will not be dropping his sophomore album MC4 at all.

The album, which was slated to be a follow up to his Mac & Cheese mixtape series, was originally announced to be hitting the market August 19 before being pushed back to an October 14 release.

MC4, now permanently shelfed, was expected to have features from Nas, A$AP Rocky, and Koda Black, among many others.

The Bronx native stated that ultimately issues with sample clearances led to the project’s demise.

“Songs like “I’m Heated” and “Two Times” couldn’t be cleared, which ruined the feel of the album French said.

Despite the recent setback the rapper says he has a new project 70 percent done.

Do The Parisian Po-Pop Want Kanye West?

UH OH! Police want to talk to Kanye West. They have insinuated that the robbery involving his wife Kim Kardashian maybe an “inside job.” The police have stated that somebody may have told about Kim Kardashian’s wearabouts before she was robbed and assaulted in Paris. Kanye West was nowhere near the incident, as he was performing in New York. However, he was still commanded by Parisian authorities to come in for questioning. Kanye has not been cited as a suspect, even if he is wanted for questioning. Police sources say Kanye has not been cooperative, even though these claims have not been verified by AllHipHop.com. Kardashian was relieved of $11 million in jewelry, according to reports.

Spectators and experts have suggested that the robbery was an insurance scam or publicity stunt.

The West’s have not been acting like the robbery was a scam. They have been huddled up in their home until today, where they came out.

I think she got robbed legit.

50 Cent’s First Son Is Open To Reconciliation!

Everyone knows that 50 Cent and his oldest son, Marquise Jackson don’t have the best relationship. In fact their relationship is basically non-existent other than a few shots traded on social media here and there.

Marquise has embarked on his acting career journey, and he is doing his own little press run. While crashing an interview his mother was doing with the Raq Rants show, Marquise revealed that he’s actually open to reconciliation with his father.

When Raq asked Jackson if he missed having a good relationship with 50, Marquise replied saying,

“Of course. That’s my father at the end of the day. I don’t know 50 Cent; I know Curtis. I’ll talk to him if he gets therapy. If he gets therapy and he figures out a lot of unresolved issues that pertains to himself, I’m more than willing to work it out.”

Marquise says he’s trying to carve out his own lane because his dad’s fame has actually caused him to shy away from a lot of things because he doesn’t want to be in his father or anyone else’s shadow.

Jackson says seeing 50 post pictures of his little brother doesn’t bother him because he would want 50 to learn from their relationship to better himself to be a better father. Marquise says why would he not want his little brother to have a better life than him.

Either Marquise is leaving something out and has great media training, or 50 is really tripping. We hope 50 can put his differences aside and mend the relationship with his first son.

Beanie Sigel Says Tupac Wouldn’t Approve Of Today’s Mumble Rappers & Their Skinny Jeans

Beanie Sigel is NOT here for the new generation of cross dressing mumble rappers.

Sigel chopped it up with BET for a “Bully Alert” aka shots fired public service announcement.

Basically, Beanie Sigel claims that if Tupac was still alive, a lot of the bulls-t you see in Hip Hop today would not be going on.

Beanie Sigel has always payed homage to rappers like Tupac and the Notorious B.I.G. for the mature content found in their raps, and the actual lyricism they showcased in their early 20s. According to Beans, he can’t really rock with these young rappers because they are in their early 20s as well, but the substance isn’t there.

“I know for a fact that we wouldn’t have grown men walking around with skinny jeans with their butt out. Dudes wouldn’t be wearing dresses. People wouldn’t be dying their hair purple, green orange and putting yaki and remy whatever you want to call it in it. The content of the music today wouldn’t be the same words repeated 50 times on a nice beat and a 808 drop. Men would be men. Women would be women. Ima leave it at that,” said Sigel

Does Beanie have a point? Would Tupac have been critical or open-minded and accepting? If Pac was still alive, we would hope these non-lyrical mumble rappers wouldn’t have made it through the gate.

Kehlani Talks Receiving Backlash Over PartyNextDoor/Kyrie Irving Controversy (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) Earlier this year, Kehlani reportedly attempted to take her own life after facing significant backlash online over rumors she cheated on her one-time boyfriend Kyrie Irving with PartyNextDoor.

Kehlani laid low from the public for months following the incident, but the singer recently returned to the spotlight by sitting down with The Cruz Show.

“I’m strong enough – thank God – to be able to talk about it in a positive way. And only push forward in an inspirational way and not dragging it on or a victimizing type situation, because I wasn’t a victim. I’m never a victim. I refuse to be a victim,” said Kehlani.

She added, “I think it was a combination of things. I think, one, the response was insane. Two, I think people forgot I was a 21-year-old going through the biggest heartbreak of my life.”

The “Crzy” performer acknowledged she is still dealing with emotional issues on a day-by-day basis.

Kehlani also declared facing the PartyNextDoor/Kyrie Irving situation in front of the world made her tougher.

“It’s not too much that can hurt me now,” stated the Oakland native.

Chance the Rapper Feels A Connection With Hillary Clinton

(AllHipHop News) Chance the Rapper just landed the cover of Billboard’s 2017 Grammys Preview” issue, along with Alessia Cara and Maren Morris.

All three of the artists sat down for in-depth interviews, where they discussed politics, race relations and a myriad of other subjects.

Chance, who’s father Ken Bennett is tight with President Barack Obama, said he was definitely voting for Hillary Clinton in the upcoming elections.

“Hillary Clinton, by far… I can’t really speak on her policies but I feel a certain connection to Hillary Clinton that’s just not there with Donald Trump,” Chance told Billboard.

In June, Chance flexed the power he has over his audience when co-signed a peition on Change.org to make mixtapes eligible for Grammy Awards, even though they are not commerically available for sale.

In June, the Grammy’s capitulated and announced that albums released solely through streaming platforms are now eligible for an award.

His latest album Coloring Book, earned the distinction of being the first act to earn a spot on the Billboard 200 chart from strictly streaming.

Coloring Book was not available for sale and exclusively premiered on Apple Music, garnering almost 60 million streams, which was enough to land him the #8 spot on Billboard’s Top 200 album chart.

Chance explained to Billboard that his protest and subsequent victory was simply a reflection of what happens to people color in society, everyday.

“Colorism and racism don’t stop when you’re a musician or when you have wealth or when you’re in any given position,” Chance told Billboard.com.

Bean Sigel Goes “Grim Reaper” On Meek

(AllHipHop News) Beanie Sigel isn’t really on of the rappers that you should test. The Philly rap vet ended a new diss song towards Meek Mill with “nrecords / I’m coming.”

The new song, “I’m Coming,” is not a full diss towards Meek and his Dreamchasers, but it is potent nonetheless.

Beanie’s characteristic voice has changed since being shot and losing a lung, but it makes the song even more potent as he is forced to deliver the shade in more creative ways.

The song premiered on Power 105.1 on Thursday morning through DJ Envy. Listen to it below.

A Conversation With Angie Martinez On The 2Pac Biopic, The State Of Hip Hop Media & Her Own Legacy

(AllHipHop Features) Because of her successful three decade career in entertainment, Angie Martinez has been dubbed the “Voice Of New York” and is undoubtedly one of the most prominent media figures in Hip Hop culture.

Martinez is lending her popularity and prestige to help raise awareness and inspire action for a positive social impact around education.

The Power 105 radio personality will host the TIDAL X: 1015 charity concert on October 15.

As a Grammy-nominated performer in her own right, Angie is set to share the stage that night in NYC with superstars such as Beyoncé, Ms. Lauryn Hill, T.I., Nicki Minaj, Alicia Keys, Common, and more.

Besides teaming with Tidal to introduce the performers at the Barclays Center later this month, Martinez’s 2016 had another major moment. The Roc Nation signee also released her New York Times best-selling book My Voice: A Memoir.

I spoke with Angie over the phone a few weeks back. We got the chance to chat about her memoir, the forthcoming 2Pac biographical movie All Eyez On Me, and how she wants to be remembered.

Congratulations on the success of your memoir.

Thank you. I’m super proud of it.

With the success of the book and with all the amazing stories in it, have you thought about transferring that into a biopic or documentary?

This has come up a few times. I have had some conversations with people and expressed some interest in doing that with the book. I’m totally open to it.

I spent a lot of time on that book. It wasn’t just something that I slapped together. To me, it’s like my baby. I shared the story of my life, my career, and my lessons.

If I were ever to translate that into another medium – whether it be TV, movie or doc – I want to give the same amount of love. I’m totally open to it, and there has been some interest. But nothing that I have to announce yet.

MyVoice_Digital_Final[2]

Is there any interest in doing another cookbook?

Maybe at some point. That was a book I wanted to do for myself and have exist in the world. I met this amazing chef that had something to offer in that space. I really wanted to put some of my thoughts and his amazing recipes out there.

That was more of a collaborative project. Not to say that I wouldn’t be open to it again, but I think it was a one time thing. But who knows?

One of the most talked about parts of your memoir is the section covering your interview with 2Pac. There’s an actress playing you in the 2Pac biopic. Have you had the chance to see the movie yet?

I haven’t. I kept trying to do it. I know some people that have seen it, and they told me great things. I was actually in L.A., and I tried to get with [director] Benny Boom because he was going to do a screening for me. We just weren’t able to get it done.

The girl that’s playing me [Lian Amado] – her role is super tiny, so I’m not worried about it. [laughs] I don’t know what it is specifically. Nobody has said, but I think it’s a tiny part.

I heard nothing but good things about it which makes me very happy. That’s a story that has to be told the right way. But I hear they got it right.

I heard it from some solid people. People whose opinions on the matter I would trust. Big Boy from L.A. and Snoop Dogg spoke to me about it.

September 13th. ??

The 20th anniversary of his passing just happened. I read that you said you often reflect on Pac and in particular that interview you had with him. Did he cross your mind over the last  few weeks? What was going through your head about his legacy?

You know what’s interesting? One of the things we talk about a lot is Pac’s legacy, how much it still resonates, and how much people are still connected to him. When you think about it, he was 24 when he passed. Do you know how much life he lived in 24 years?

He lived a life in 24 years that most people don’t live in 50 years. When you think about how young he was…. when we were coming up, we didn’t look at him as young. We just looked at him as one of us.

Now when you’re older and look back, it’s like “Wow. He was 24 and did all that.” It’s really fascinating and unimaginable. It makes you wonder about what he would have been able to accomplish with just a few more years.

What are your thoughts about this ongoing conversation on the difference between 90’s Hip Hop and today’s rap music?

I’m not one to be like, “Oh, it was better then. Or it was better this time. Or the 80’s were better. Or the 90’s were better. Or the 2000’s were better.” I just think Hip Hop is a fluid thing that is always changing and evolving.

There are moments when I was a little kid listening to stuff in the 80’s that I thought was the illest. There are moments in the 90’s that I thought were the illest. Or the 2000’s. Even some of it from now, I like. I don’t necessarily like to compare too much. I feel like it’s forever evolving.

I like to ask people about their thoughts on the strengths of Hip Hop media now and what are areas where we could probably work on to improve on what Hip Hop media produces.

I did this press run with my book, so I met some great people. I had some amazing interviews with people that love the culture. Ultimately, it has to be rooted in that. You have to love the culture. You can’t just be in it because you’re trying to get your Instagram followers up.

It has to start with a love for the culture, because that’s what takes it further by asking the deeper question or writing with passion and conviction. If you’re just trying to get some social media numbers or something, that ain’t where the substance is going to come from.

I’m hopeful for it. It’s like anything else. It’s easier for people to get in, so it’s a lot of fluff. But also, within there, there are gems. There are people who love the culture, have something to say, have an opinion, and care.

I think it’s up to those people to go extra hard and make sure their voices are the loudest. And it’s the responsibility of the community to support those journalists to make sure there are great stories being told all the time.

It’s harder now too, because artists have their own outlets. They don’t necessarily need the journalists. You can say whatever you want to say on your own blog posts. So I think it’s a little bit harder to develop a brand with some substance, but it’s also more necessary than ever.

Lupe Fiasco put out an hour-long solo podcast celebrating the 10 year anniversary of Food & Liquor. He basically said, “I don’t have to do an interview. I’ll just talk and fans will listen to this. I don’t need to sit down and have a conversation with a journalist.

But then it’s also one-sided for him. Nobody is challenging him. He’s only offering what he thinks people want to know. I would think you would want somebody to push you and challenge you a little bit. That’s how you get to the goods.

Would you like to see more high-profile artists do interviews?

Yeah, of course. I think even if you’re very choosy and choose one or two. It’s important for artists to really matter too. What’s your legacy going to be? You have to be pushed a little sometimes. Your story has to be told from an outside voice, not just your own. For that reason, I think the journalist is always going to be important.

You mentioned the word “legacy.” What do you want your legacy to be?

I think I’m still working on it. I think I’m still creating it. There’s so much more I want to do. I definitely want my legacy to be somewhat grounded in that I was somebody that loved the culture and had its best interest at heart.

Someone who always tried to do the right thing. Someone who pushed myself further and in turn pushed other people further. I think also something about giving people a voice. When I first started there were not a lot of platforms for rap artists to tell their story. That’s part of what I loved and still love about what I do.
