On Black Lives Matter:

I went one step one step beyond. No lives matter. We don’t matter. A lot of times, when people hear “black lives matter,” you know, people are so outside of their selves. The United States citizenry always is outside of itself. They think they don’t pertain to having any involvement in the social conditions or in the systematic makeup of reducing us…

I mean look, we can talk about black lives matter. What about the brown people who are getting caught up in the shrapnel of the border between the United States and Mexico? Does that mean that we don’t give a f*ck? Or that’s not even an issue? So it’s beyond police brutality that might happen in Baltimore or Ferguson. It’s like, what’s out of wack that’s holding the system up when it does wrong? So that’s what that is, in a nutshell. No lives matter if we don’t.

On modern Hip Hop:

The power of black music and the power of hip-hop, especially in the beginning, was groups and collective efforts, but it’s been reduced to one person. You wonder if this is a lawyer’s doing or corporate doing because they didn’t want all these n*ggas in the same room screaming at ’em? It’s easier to neutralize one person than a group of them coming from all angles…

That’s been the coup d’etat of the corporate record industry over rap music and hip-hop. We name a whole bunch of individuals today — whether it’s Kanye West or Jay Z. We individualized an art form that came in as a collective. That’s been the biggest tragedy. So when it comes down to a group like Public Enemy, they just don’t know how to process it.

On Dr. Dre’s alleged assault of Dee Barnes:

Dee Barnes usually goes around and says “You know what? Beats by Dre? No, I was beat by Dre.” You know? And that was happening back in the day. You see when this movie came out Dre had to admit, “yeah, I did some stupid sh*t in my past.” Yeah, you damn right you did. But, I think people should talk to Dee Barnes and not for her. Dee Barnes was left hanging because she can’t have a voice and what she thinks now. Give Dee Barnes an interview.

Before taking the stage at his Forrest Hills Drive Tour Atlanta stop, Grammy nominated recording artist J. Cole hosted a cocktail to kick off the J. Cole for Bally collaboration. The event took place at Bally Phipps Plaza in Atlanta, GA. Those that shopped the collection had the opportunity to win a pair of tickets to attend J. Cole’s concert later that evening. While those in attendance enjoyed champagne and the collection, J. Cole walked around greeting everyone in attendance. Fellow rappers LL Cool J, Slick Rick and more have been spotted rocking their favorite Bally shoes.

J. Cole Bally

Bally has joined forces with recording artist J. Cole, launching an exclusive pair of hiking boots and backpacks inspired by the notion of “urban explorer”. The boots and backpacks will be offered in a range of colors and materials from calf leather to exotic python. Bally is known for their expertise in crafting hiking boots starting in 1950s, when they created the “Reindeer Himalaya boots”, worn by Sherpa Tenzing Norgay when he climbed Mount Everest. Now, the new version of these hiking boots are still a hallmark for exceptional design and comfort, designed to traverse various terrains from cityscapes to mountains. In the short film, ‘Off the Grid,’ J. Cole escapes to Jamaica to disconnect from technology and connect with his surroundings. Bally’s main inspiration is leather as it serves both functionality and creativity. Pop quiz: what other Hip Hop artists have been seen wearing Bally over the years?

Eazy-E’s Daughter Feels ‘Straight Outta Compton’ Didn’t Do Her Father’s Legacy Justice

With every biopic there is someone depicted or someone who is related that doesn’t completely agree with the film. Eazy-E’s daughter Erin Wright feels that the film left out a lot of pivotal moments in her father’s life. She rants that the movie doesn’t show that her father went to court and still made money off of Death Row. She states that the movie shows Eazy getting beat up by Suge Knight, and she claims that this didn’t actually happen. According to her, Eazy actually pulled a gun on Suge! She’s upset that a snippet of “Real Muthaf*ckin G’s” wasn’t played, and she’s not happy about the film leaving out Eazy-E finding Bone Thugs N Harmony. All in all she wants fans to know that in her opinion a lot of Eazy-E’s storyline is missing. She still encourages everyone to go see the film. Wright also says she’s releasing a documentary on her father’s legacy that won’t leave out any details!

Interscope Expected Dr. Dre’s ‘Compton’ To Sell A Million Copies?

Dr. Dre’s new album “Compton” opened with some nice sales numbers. The Doc’s comeback project sold 276,000 (295,000 eau) copies in its first week. That’s among the highest totals for the year, but was it still a disappointment for his label? According to Joe Budden, the answer is yes.

“Interscope expected 800,000 to 1,000,000,” said Joe on his podcast.

Even though Joey’s signed to Shady/Interscope with Slaughterhouse, he may not be the best source for the inner workings of the record company. Regardless, 276K in 2015 is a really good start. Especially since it was only available on iTunes and for stream on Apple Music.

Ice Cube & DJ Yella Discuss Twitter Beefing (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) Obviously, Twitter and other social media sites did not exist when Ice Cube famously faced-off against his former group N.W.A in their classic battle.

But would it have been different if the crew were able to use “Twitter fingers” back in the late 1980’s/early 1990’s? Cube and DJ Yella were asked that question during an interview with WatchLOUD.

“It would have been the same thing,” said Cube about whether he would have written the N.W.A  diss track “No Vaseline.” He added, “Beef is beef. There was beef before Twitter. There’s going to be beef after Twitter.”

Quite of few new school performers are known to jump on the app to voice their thoughts about their peers. Meek Mill’s recent Twitter rant sparked his back-and-forth with Drake – the most talked about rap feud of the year. Yella questioned how can someone really “beef” on social media.

“How can you have beef on Twitter?” asked Yella. “Put it on records that’s it.”

During his sit down with The Breakfast Club, Diddy finally spoke on the rumors surrounding his alleged confrontation with Drake in a Miami nightclub last year.

“I did not put hands on Drake, and I do not want any problems with Drake,” said Puffy. “He’s putting in his work. I didn’t nothing to Drake. Drake is my friend.”

The Bad Boy Records CEO also addressed the speculation he had issues with Drizzy over the “0 To 100” beat. He claimed the situation was just a misunderstanding. But when Angela Yee asked Puff a follow-up question about the song, he revealed exactly why the track was sent to Drake.

“[I sent the song] for him to ghostwrite for me,” stated Puff.

Drake was caught up in his own “ghostwriting” controversy this summer after Meek Mill accused Atlanta rapper Quentin Miller of writing the verse on “R.I.C.O.” off Dreams Worth More Than Money. Drake has yet to directly respond to the allegations. Puff appeared on Meek’s sophomore album as well.

A$AP Rocky Hit With Lawsuit For Alleged Stage Diving Incident

(AllHipHop News) A fan is suing A$AP Rocky for something someone else in his crew is accused of doing. Krystina Clowes is looking to get at least $75,000 from the Harlem rapper for A$AP Mob’s Young Shabba allegedly injuring her back.

Clowes filed a lawsuit claiming Shabba’s decision to crowd surf at an A$AP Ferg concert in 2013 led to her suffering a fractured vertebra. The woman believes Rocky is also responsible, because the entire crew has a history of stage diving at shows.

This is not the first time a concert goer has gone after Rocky legally. The At.Long.Last.A$AP creator was previously sued for allegedly assaulting a woman at the 2013 Made In America Festival. Lisa Wade was also seeking $75,000. The case was settled out of court.
