Turls “My Plug”

This week’s offering on The Signal comes from Turls, who’s dropping the visuals for his track “My Plug.” The video premiered on Pigeons & Planes earlier Monday. Turls drops bars about robbing his plug (probably a bad move) with a long, drawn out, monotonous drawl that somehow works over the electronic-laced trap beat. Check it out above, and be on the lookout for Turls’ Destruction of A Heart project, dropping soon.

Meek Mill Tops Taylor Swift On Billboard Artist 100 Chart

(AllHipHop News) Meek Mill could be having his best week ever. The MMG star’s new album Dreams Worth More Than Money is the best selling album in the country, and the Philadelphia representative is leading the way on another chart as well.

Billboard reports Meek knocked off Pop superstar Taylor Swift from the pinnacle of the Artist 100. The “All Eyes On You” performer skyrocketed from 72 to 1 on the chart, making him only the third rapper to reached number one after Drake and Kendrick Lamar.

The Artist 100 takes data from album and track sales, radio airplay, streaming, and social media fan interaction to rank national popularity among music acts. The rest of the top five includes Swift (2), The Weeknd (3), Maroon 5 (4), and Ed Sheeran (5).

Meek’s sophomore studio LP selling 215,000 copies played a big role in his rise on the Artist 100. 78% of his points on the chart were based on albums sales. His recent Twitter spat with Joe Budden garnered a lot of attention online and likely helped Meek score points in the “social media interaction” portion of the calculations.

OG Maco: I Love Future But He’s Destroyed Countless Lives, I Manipulated Over 40 Million Minds

(AllHipHop News) Future may be wondering what did he do to become the center of attention this week. First his name came up in A$AP Rocky’s commentary about Atlanta rappers sounding the same, and now fellow ATL native OG Maco addressed the Dungeon Family affiliate in a series of tweets.

Maco went on an extended Twitter rant about weak-minded fans being negatively influenced by famous artists. The statements included the “U Guessed It” performer writing, “I love Future but also I understand Future has destroyed countless lives by making it cool to be a drug addict. 56 Xans isn’t cool.”

While Maco mentioned Future by name, most of the tweets seemed to be directed at the general public. He even admits to taking advantage of “idiots.” Maco adds, “I manipulated over 40 million minds and counting based on the exact same principles that I’m preaching. Who’s more qualified to say this?”

Above the Line: An Interview with Adrian Younge

Adrian Younge is a well-renowned producer and composer who made a positive impression on listeners via the Black Dynamite soundtrack, Something about April, and his work with The Delfonics.  So it’s no surprise that, because of his fascination with soul, he would get the opportunity to make his mark on hip-hop’s landscape too… And he did.

ghost1
Adrian Younge and Ghostface Killah in Philadelphia, PA (2013).

In addition to being sampled by DJ Premier (PRhyme) and Timbaland (Jay Z’s “Picasso Baby” and “Heaven”), Adrian produced 2013’s Twelve Reasons to Die starring Ghostface Killah.  It was a concept album about how Ghostface as Tony Starks goes to war with an Italian crime family.  The project received rave reviews, and left fans yearning for more.  Thankfully, the dynamic duo reunited for Twelve Reasons to Die II which comes out today.

AllHipHop recently had the pleasure and privilege of speaking with Mr. Younge about, among other things, his working relationship with RZA, writing narratives for Ghostface, and creating the sequel to an amazing piece of work.

Not unlike the Wu-Tang Clan, Adrian Younge ain’t nothing ta f**k wit.

AllHipHop.com: As someone who has also scored movies, how did that experience benefit you in the process of producing beats for emcees to rap over?

Adrian Younge: To back up a little bit, anybody can score a movie if given the job.  Whether they do a good job or not, we don’t know.  But I think that being a film composer, someone that gets it and actually applies the music, it allows you to open up a spectrum of feeling.  You’re now allowed to approach the music from an audio visual perspective.  When people score films, the job is to be visual.  When people make music, it’s about evoking feeling.  It’s great when you get both feelings and being out of their head.  And that’s what I tried to do with this project.

AllHipHop.com: RZA has a real cinematic feel to his beats and then he transitioned into film scoring.  Does it work the other way too?

Adrian Younge: Yeah, for sure. Working with RZA [too],  I’d idolized him so much before I met him and became friends with him.  And he mentored me.  I still learn a lot from that dude.  It’s crazy because I never ever would have expected I’d be in a situation where, with all the things we’re talking about knowing, he can come to my studio and I can be like, “that beat is sampled” or he can tell me what he did for this certain sound on 36 Chambers or Return to the 36 Chambers.  It’s a special relationship that I have and I admire luminaries like RZA, Premo,  and all those types of people.

AllHipHop.com: Between your two projects with Ghostface, your music was sampled by Timbaland and appeared on Jay Z’s Magna Carta Holy Grail, what type of impact has that had on your career?

Adrian Younge: What it really did was  help open me up to an audience.  It was a blessing, man.  And it further  inspired me to push and go harder and to try to get other people to be exposed to this musical movement I’m trying to make.

AllHipHop.com: Sequels sometimes make people skeptical, especially when the original is good.  That’s obviously the case here with Twelve Reasons to Die being really dope.  What’s your response to people whose inclination is to say, “Why tamper with a good thing?”

Adrian Younge: I’m one of those people, unless you’re going to try and make it better.  And that’s what I’m actually trying to do.  I’m trying to make a better product as opposed to making a new derivative version with the purpose of just selling records.

AllHipHop.com: What did you think you could improve on from the first album?

Adrian Younge: It’s one of those things where I make music for myself and hope other people like it.  So, from that perspective, I don’t feel like I fell short.  I feel like it was a natural progression from part one.  I feel like I wanted to do was go in a darker, deeper direction.  I feel it’s more captivating than the first and, the thing is, some people don’t want music like that.  They just want music they can bob their head to.  It’s a turn off, and so it might not make some people like it as much.  And it’s funny because there are people that didn’t like the first Twelve Reasons to Die because they don’t like my production.  So you never know.  The only shortfall that people could find in part two is that it’s a deeper and darker album.  If some one doesn’t want it to be deeper and darker, then it’s a shortfall.

AllHipHop.com: One of the biggest differences between the first and second album that I noticed is that Raekwon appears on multiple tracks.  Did you feel any additional pressure making music that will likely be compared to Only Built 4 Cuban Linx?

Adrian Younge: Not at all.  Because that’s already a classic.  I try to make classics.  I don’t try to make things that aren’t good.  It’s always a pleasure to see that people care about the kind of music I’m making because there are not a lot of people out there doing this kind of stuff.  It just feels good to get the warm reception.

AllHipHop.com: Were you in the studio with Ghostface?

Adrian Younge: Stuff was sent back and forth, both times.  But for both [albums], I’d write a whole script and send the script to him.  Then from the script, I’d tell him what the narrative was and he’d go from there.

AllHipHop.com: That’s really cool.  So you’d send him a beat and a narrative, then he’d write a rap to the beat based on the narrative you sent him?

Adrian Younge: Exactly.

AllHipHop.com: What is it that you hope to achieve with this project?

Adrian Younge: Nothing more than making an album where people enjoy it.  It’s not like I’m making it to get a bunch of accolades and all that stuff.  I want to make it so people can enjoy it.  That people enjoy the music I make really means a lot to me and so that’s what I’m really looking for.

AllHipHop.com: 70’s soul music has obviously been very influential in your work.  What do you think today’s music can learn from that era that will make it too stand the test of time?

Adrian Younge: To me, when something is classic, whether it came out today or thirty years ago, it falls all in the same pot.  A Tribe Called Quest is just as classic to me as Curtis Mayfield.  When you get above the line, you’re above the line.  So my thing is I just want to make music where I am always above that line.  And that’s my goal.

Mission accomplished.  Get Twelve Reasons to Die II; available now!

Internet Sensation Tyrone Shot In Chest For Attempting To Have Sex With Man’s Wife?

There have been reports that internet sensation Tyrone Jones was shot three times in the chest after approaching Darnell Williams, a resident of Houston, asking to have a moment with his wife, basically implying engaging in a sexual act. Jones is known for his Youtube series that shows him approaching couples and demanding crude sexual acts. Allegedly eye witnesses say that Jones was asked to leave several times, but him and his crew refused to leave. This caused Williams to shoot Jones in the chest with a 9 millimeter gun. Williams is said to have reported the shooting to the police once Jones’ crew informed him that it was a prank. Although Jones is expected to recover, both men have been charged with separate crimes. Jones with trespassing, and Williams with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm by a felon. These pranksters go too far sometimes. They need to think about their safety instead of how many hits they will get online.

Mob of Philly Police Officers Attack a Cuffed Man?

After barks of “tase the motherf**ker,” and a dehumanizing comment referring to him as a “piece of s*it,” Tyree Carroll, survived his encounter with a police mob of 26 officers. Back on April 3, Mr. Carroll was initially stopped on Germantown’s, Locust Ave., for riding his bicycle the wrong way down a one-way street. After complying with the officer’s directions, Tyree, was unexpectedly attacked by the growing gang of Philadelphia peace officers, this according to JasmyneCannick

In the recently surfaced video provided courtesy of the Tyree Carroll Family, vicious kicks, punches, and blows from multiple police batons are unleashed upon an immobilized Tyree. The footage was recorded via a cell phone. Since its discovery the PPD has been compelled to launch an internal review of this harrowing demonstration of  police brutality, reports the HuffingtonPost.

During his testimony at Carroll’s preliminary hearing on June 30, arresting officer John Ellis of Philadelphia Police Department’s narcotics squad, alleged that earlier in the evening, he witnessed what he considered to be a narcotics transaction between Carroll and unidentified men. Although, he testified that he didn’t witness any goods or money exchange hands, that didn’t prevent him from stopping Tyree for suspicious activity. Eventually 5.3 grams of crack cocaine were purportedly found on Tyree, who remains incarcerated.

Tyree Carroll, the father to a toddler child, was recently visited by the Pennsylvania Prison Society, and it expresses that he has yet to receive any medical attention for the lingering pain from the injuries he sustain from his brutal beating. Currently Carroll faces a litany of charges from that fateful night which range from multiple drug charges, aggravated and simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, and resisting arrest. A confirmed asthmatic, Tyree, has taken responsibility for biting an officer after he was placed into a chokehold. He asserts that his chest seized up and he thought that his life was ending.

The following video is very graphic. In the words of Mr. West: “I say f**k the police, that’s how I treat ’em. We buy our way out of jail, but we can’t buy freedom..”

The Legendary and Beautiful Taylor Wane talks Adult Films, Entertainment and Life !

Long before Lisa Ann, Pinky, Sasha Grey and Roxy Reynolds there was Taylor Wane. The legendary “Queen of P###” has seen over 25 years in the industry and has established herself as one of the most renowned pornstars of all time and perhaps the FIRST milf ever before it even became it’s own genre. Taylor Wane hails from the U.K. and she took the time to do an interview with us on her experiences in the industry.

Where are you from and what was your upbringing like ?

I was born and raised in the North East of England: Newcastle Upon Tyne. Youngest of 5 kids in a working class family. I had a great childhood even though we didn’t have a lot of money, I had a lot of love from my family. I loved being outdoors and playing sports. I never spent time inside watching tv or playing with toys, just wasn’t my thing. I was a tom boy up until I was around 18 years old. I never wore makeup or dressed girly. I loved school! I don’t think I ever took a day off even if I were sick. I wanted to be an A student and I was. Education was super important to me and still is. Education is power.

Were you always ambitious ?

I was ambitious from the get go. I worked jobs before and after school each day and weekends. I would save the money and then give loans and charge a lot of interest. Haha.. I was motived, hungry and had endless energy. I loved the North and the people but England was just too small and constrained for me so I worked hard and figured a way out of a small city and moved to London. London was exciting and awesome but hard to get by. It’s very expensive to live in a city like London so I didn’t get to eat much and worked hard just to be able to live. They were definitely the lean years, in all ways.

The age old question you’ve probably been asked a lot – but for those who don’t know, how did you first get into the business ?
One day one of my model friends from the Agency I was signed with told me about Los Angeles and how much modeling work there was there compared to London. I just wanted to work, every day if possible so I made the arrangements and set off on my journey not knowing where it would take me. I was introduced to an agency, at that time Jim South of World Modelling in Van Nuys, CA. It didn’t take me long before I was working every day and my popularity rose quickly as there were no British girls in the business at that time. Here I was. Blond, busty, british and had a mouth like a sailor. Something that stood out back in 1990. The p### girls weren’t known for being very vocal and talkative in their scenes. I had worked nights on phone sex lines in the UK and could talk dirty for hours if it meant keeping the guy paying per minute on that phone call. So once I was in a p### movie with my dirty mouth, it stood out from the get go.

Was it hard getting into the business or dealing with it ? What did your friends and family say ? Were they supportive ??

It was so easy getting into the business and even though I am NOT a nudist I just took to it right away. I have always been very sexual and the fact I could work every day and have sex just seemed like the perfect fit for me. In the beginning (1990-1991) sometimes I would shoot 3 scenes a day, in different studios. By 1994 I was voted Box Cover Girl of the year by AVN as I was on dozens and dozens of movie covers. By June 1994 I was the first well known Adult film Star to grace the cover of Penthouse Magazine. Back in the early 90’s, Bob Guccione didn’t feature p### stars as Penthouse Pets. After the success of that June 1994 issue, they had to re think their stand point on that.
It was also that year, after Penthouse was published the British Tabloids got wind of my US success and it made front page news in the UK. My family now Knew what kind of modeling I was doing in the USA…. Nude and p###..
Then I got THE CALL… Not all p### talent are lucky that their family, even if not happy with their decision will stand by them. Mine did. I was blessed that I had such a remarkable bond with them, even though they were conservative in their thinking.

Let’s also talk musical interests, who are some artists you like listening to ?

I like so many different artists, because music allows you to explore feelings you are having at any given time.
Whether you are sad, happy, amped, in love, whatever. There is a song and an artist that can let you express and experience your feelings in such a remarkable way.

So, who do I like? Who do I not like is the question… 🙂 from the greats like Pink Floyd, Led Zepplin, Queen to some of my current artists like Maroon 5, Pink, Lady gaga, Madonna, John Legend. I love such a wide variety of music from Nina Simone, Eminem, Blake Sheldon, Lil Wayne, Beyonce, The Black Crowes, Bob marley, Bruno Mars, Calvin Harris, David Guetta, Kanye West, Dr Dre, Ed Sheeran, Rhianna, Faith Hill, Imagine Dragons, James Blunt, James Morrison, Jason Mraz, Jay Z, Jennifer Hudson, John Mayer, Johnny Cash, Michael Jackson, Ray Lamontagne, Pharrel, Sam Smith, Sex Pistols, Snoop Dogg, Pit Bull to name (not a) few. 😉

Do you have any favourite artists ?

Right now I’m obsessed with Blake Sheldon. haha… A girl that grew up as a Punk rocker now loves this country star but his music just feels good. Really it all depends on the song. If the song moves me, then Im all about it. I go nuts when Pit bull comes on the radio. All his songs make me wanna dance like crazy! His music is infectious, in a good way.

Who was the most famous person you’ve ever met or seen that made you freeze and forget your words or couldn’t muster the strength to approach ?

Anyone that knows me knows I have had a long list of very famous friends, lovers and rendezvous’s and I haven’t kissed and told yet. I’ve never met someone that made me freeze. My balls are too big. 😉

What are 5 things about you people would be surprised to know ?

After 24 years in the business most of my fans know everything about me. I’m a lot more conservative than one would imagine. I really like to play things out like: there’s a time and a place for everything. I keep a low profile and spend my time painting, working out, hiking, reading, studying whatever I’m into at that time, hanging with my dogs, I love cooking.

Without naming names and excluding p### if you have ever dated an entertainer, who would you say are the best lovers ? Regular guys or entertainers ??

Like I said earlier, I won’t name names but honestly, p### guys are good at sex. You aren’t really feeling love emotions during filming but s###, when they eat p#### or do s###, its really f###### good. haha… I think you can bring out the best in (almost) anyone. Good sex is about connection, being open minded and being free!

Have you ever been to rap concert before ?? Any funny stories (without naming names !!)

I did go to one show where one of the guys in the band while on stage stopped to write down my number.

Is it better to give or to receive ?

It is always a good feeling to give, but if you receive in return it feels amazing…

Three things about you most people don’t know?

I’m a home body, I like to paint and make things, and I am very conservative.
