Rhymesayers Rapper Brother Ali Arrested For Trespassing in Occupy Protest

(AllHipHop News) Minnesota/Rhymesayers rapper Brother Ali was among 13 protesters arrested yesterday (June 21) at an Occupy Homes MN rally in Minneapolis

According to (WCCO) CBS Minnesota, Ali Douglas Newman aka Brother Ali was arrested at the Cruz family home on the 4000 block of Cedar Avenue in south Minneapolis.

Brother Ali was arrested on charges of trespassing and refusing to depart, afterwards posting $50 bail when he was processed at the Hennepin County Jail.

“Just got home from jail. 13 of us arrested showing solidarity with the Cruz family and Occupy Homes worldwide. The struggle continues.”

The protests for the Cruz family stem from a 2011 foreclosure, when the mortgage’s original holder PNC Bank didnt accept an online mortgage payment.

As punishment, the bank imposed a fine of 2 months payment and the family was forced to foreclose when they couldn’t pay.

The Cruz’ were supposed to be evicted on April 26, but when authorities carried out the order on May 23, they were met by a large group of protesters.

They again tried to evict the family on May 25, but protesters had tied themselves together to the home.

Police arrested five protesters at that time, but failed to take the home.

A spokesperson for the Occupy Homes MN movement said Freddie Mac currently has obtained the Cruz family’s mortgage and has requested an eviction.

Protesters continue to negotiation with PNC Bank to allow the Cruz’ to keep their family home.

Daily Word: See the Whole Picture! (Don't Lose the Forest for the Trees)

Happy Friday, my visionaries!

Welcome to the last day of the week, but still another opportunity to make great things happen! Today’s Daily Word is dedicated to your vision and your ability to see the whole picture. I once had an elementary teacher who always said “Don’t lose the forest for the trees.” As a young adolescent, not trying to understand what the phrase meant, I always thought it was the dumbest thing… I thought… if you’re already in the forest, how can you lose it for the trees??? It just didn’t make sense!!

In actuality, people do it all the time. We set grand goals for ourselves (the forest) and break them down into small pieces (the trees), but while trying to accomplish the small pieces, we sometimes lose sight of the bigger picture. Sometimes the answer might be another small piece, but we get so caught up in the current situation that we jeopardize the grand prize!

See the Whole Picture!! Always remember what your original goal is, and do what’s in the best interest of reaching that goal. What you can see beyond is what you will eventually get! See more than just today! See where you want to be ultimately, and keep that vision in your mind’s eye! The future belongs to those who see and prepare for it today!!
-Ash’Cash

“With vision there is no room to be frightened. No reason for intimidation. It’s time to march forward! Let’s be confident and positive!” -Charles R. Swindoll

“Envisioning success brings you an inspiring image, but bringing that image to life requires action.” -Larina Kase

“Vision without action is a dream. Action without vision is simply passing the time. Action with Vision is making a positive difference.” -Joel Barker

“People only see what they are prepared to see.” -Ralph Waldo Emerson

“The most pathetic person in the world is someone who has sight, but has no vision.” -Helen Keller

“There are always flowers for those who want to see them.” -Henri Matisse

“If you see yourself as prosperous, you will be. If you see yourself as continually hard up, that is exactly what you will be.” -Robert Collier

“See things as you would have them be instead of as they are.” -Robert Collier

Big Hutch Sues Dr. Dre, Aftermath, Interscope, Ruff Ryders and EVE

(AllHipHop News) West Coast pioneer Big Hutch is claiming theft and deception, and is suing multi-platinum West Coast producer Dr. Dre., his Aftermath Records, Interscope Records, Ruff Ryders and and multi-platinum Philly femcee Eve over the 1999 single, “Love Is Blind.”

Hutch stated the song was stripped of some of its original components and released in September 1999 on the album, Let There Be EVE… Ruff Ryders’ First Lady.

The album which sold 213,000 copies in the first week, and eventually went on to sell over two million copies according to Soundscan, is certified double platinum.

In 2000, “Love Is Blind” was nominated for “Best Rap Video”, and the album received “Best R&B/Soul Female Solo Album of the Year.”

Big Hutch, nephew to R&B legend Willie Hutch, says that in December 1997, he was introduced and hired to produce, at the time, an up and coming artist known as EVE.

Hutch says, Mike Lynn, as head of the A&R department at Aftermath, introduced him to the EVE project, and that later it would be just him and EVE in the studio producing an array of tracks.

Hutch asserts that he co-wrote and produced “Love Is Blind,” and that when EVE made the transition from Aftermath to the Ruff Ryders, all parties failed to give Hutch credit.

In addition, Hutch says that between 2000 and 2001, while serving as the VP to Death Row during Suge Knight’s incarceration, Hutch approached Aftermath to assist him with retaining compensation for his involvement, but was told, ‘We can’t help you. You have no proof.’

Aftermath further explained to Hutch they could not put anything together to help obtain the rights to the song he “helped produce.”

Hutch continued on with his own music career while battling Aftermath, but was incarcerated from July 2004 to August 2007. Prior to his incarceration Hutch says he, “stored and warehoused all his musical catalog, and it wasn’t until this year 2012 that he finally stumbled across his ‘proof’, for the original.”

“I’m not trying to take away from what EVE has done, but I was a key in helping EVE create a hit record,” Hutch said.

Hutch was signed to the late Eazy-E’s Ruthless Records and had a group called Above The Law. Hutch and Above The Law’s 1990 Living Like Hutstlers debut album release was selected as one of The Source’s “100 Best Rap Albums Ever” and claimed The Billboard 200 at #75 and Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums at #14.

He acknowledges himself as Dr. Dre’s “understudy,” in his legal press release and is currently signed to Psychopathic Records, home to the famed Insane Clown Posse. Hutch plans to release an album ICP’s label entitled The Only Solution. Hutch currently also heads his own label West World Records with his business partners with the label Big Shot Music Group.

EVE, Dr. Dre, Aftermath Records, and Interscope Records have yet to comment. More news will be released as details emerge.

EXCLUSIVE: Iggy Azalea Sets the Record Straight On Her Grand Hustle Deal And Split From Interscope

(AllHipHop News) Iggy Azalea has had quite a year and is showing no signs of slowing down. From her YouTube hits “P*ssy” and “My World” attracting a lot of attention in late 2011, to the release of her Ignorant Art EP which helped the Australian femcee land a spot on XXL’s Freshman Class cover in March, to her affiliation and signing with T.I. and Grand Hustle, the 22-year-old beauty just keeps it moving.

Despite all of the accolades, Iggy still has detractors to prove wrong, and she’s more than up for the challenge. With her second release, Glory EP, set to drop before the end of July, she’s still hard at work on her upcoming debut album, The New Classic.

The New Classic was set to be Iggy’s major label debut with Interscope Records, who she signed to back in late January in a joint venture deal with T.I.’s Grand Hustle. In the months since her signing, rumors and reports suggested that she had been dropped from the label and that when T.I. had classified her as a “free-agent,” that she had severed ties with the Grammy Award-winning rapper.

Not the case according to Iggy who told AllHipHop.com in an exclusive interview that while she is no longer with Interscope, all is well with her and Tip and she is still 150 percent a part of his Grand Hustle label and Hustle Gang movement. At the end of the day, according to her, “business is just business.”

As she waits to settle an offer to distribute her debut album, Iggy has continued to work both The New Classic and Glory EP, which will be arriving first to hold fans over until Classic is released later this year.

EXCLUSIVE: Slaughterhouse Discusses International Grind, Hating The Music Game

(AllHipHop News) Slaughterhouse, the Shady Records lyrical quartet, have become international darlings through their years-long grind.

In a recent cover story for The Source magazine, the group, which is comprised of Royce Da 5′ 9″, Crooked I, Joe Budden, and Joell Ortiz, talked about being accepted outside of the underground circuit.

Said Crooked I, “I think Slaughterhouse fans across the globe, they have all that energy. They all have that love for real lyrics.”

“They’re coming to see four of the illest MCs, and they haven’t fun with us,” agreed Joell Ortiz. “It’s a big ol’ party. I don’t feel like we’re the performers and they’re the audience. I just feel like we’re all partying together.”

Crooked I also told The Source that he didn’t think the group would be possible, but they represent a change in Hip-Hop.

“If you would have came to us all four individually, before [Joe Budden’s 2008 album] Halfway House, and asked us to be a group, I don’t know if it would be a group today… To me, this is the first group ever to assemble four dudes from four different cities – covering the map is a symbol of unification.”

But, that unification came from a lot of trials, Joe Budden said.

“I almost despise a lot of aspects that come along with this industry. All the red tape. All the politics,” Budden said. “Everything that is in between me and my direct talent and the fans. The industry will jade you. The a**hole I am today is the man that y’all created.”

Slaughterhouse covers the magazine, but there is also another cover that pays homage to the late Adam “MCA” Yauch and the Beastie Boys.

Hip-Hop Rumors: 50 Cent Weighs In On Breezy Vs. Drizzy Fight – Picks A Winner

Another celebrity has spoken out about the Chris Brown vs. Drake bottle fight, and this time, we have it on tape, so they can’t take it back a la Lil’ Kim. 50 Cent added his two cents into the conversation, and went as far as choosing who he think would come out on top if Breezy and Drizzy got into a fight.

“I’d take Chris, because of all of the physical movement and dancing that he does. He just be slipping and moving and Wham, and I don’t see Drake doing that.”

“Chris be having his shirt off, he has one of those MMA fighter looks,” said 50 Cent. “Like he might have done karate as a kid.” “He might put him  [Drake] in an arm bomb, break it on the floor.”

During the interview with KMEL Radio, 50 also shares his thoughts about the Pacquiao-Bradley fight being fixed, and how he lost money on a bet for Pacquiao. Check out the full interview below:

"Everybody Hates Chris" Star Tyler James Williams Tries His Hand at Rap On Disney Soundtrack

Tyler James Williams built a name on the hit TV show, “Everybody Hates Chris”, but the recent premiere of Disney’s Let It Shine has put the spotlight on him as an artist, too. The movie garnered 5.7 million viewers, and is now the #1 TV movie of the year among kids and tweens, and Williams is not only a part of the cast, but also featured on the soundtrack.

Williams recently performed in New York City at an album release event for the Let It Shine soundtrack, alongside recording artist and actress, CoCo Jones.

Multifaceted and gifted, it’s pretty clear we will see a lot more of Williams’ solid talent.

Let It Shine, a re-imagining of the classic Cyrano de Bergerac story (an 1837 play written entirely in verse), set in the contemporary world of Hip- Hop and gospel music. The movie stars also stars CoCo Jones, Trevor Jackson, Brandon Mychal Smith, Nicole Sullivan, and Alex Désert. It was directed by two-time DGA Award winner, Paul Hoen, and includes hit songwriters and producers on the soundtrack. The soundtrack is also climbing various charts, including Radio Disney.

Big Meech's Former Girlfriend Sabrina On The Long-Lasting Legacy of BMF

The Black Mafia Family (BMF) remains a story of legend. One of the biggest criminal drug gangs in recent history, BMF allegedly made over $270 million in drug sales. And, as an aspiring record label, they garnered the attention and the ear of the Hip-Hop industry. The leader, Big Meech, is still a name constantly dropped in rap songs and profiled on television shows.

Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory is currently serving the fourth year of his 30-year sentence at Lewisburg U.S. Penitentiary, a maximum security prison, where he is under a 23-hour lockdown. Flenory was recently transferred after violence erupted at his former Jessup, Georgia prison, where over 200 inmates had started wearing BMF tattoos. Proof that his name and legacy continues to far-reaching influence.

Today, June 21, on Big Meech’s 44th birthday, AllHipHop.com sat down with Sabrina Peterson, Meech’s former girlfriend – with his permission – to talk about the man behind the myth:

AllHipHop.com: Thank you for talking to me, Sabrina. What do you think is the biggest misconception about Meech?

Sabrina: That he was ruthless and cold. When people think of a Boss, they think of a cold-hearted person. I wouldn’t say he wasn’t intimidating, but he wasn’t mean. The motive behind this whole thing from the way he explained it to me, he just wanted to see dudes run together, be a family, and everybody be on the same level money-wise. It went all bad, but the initial intention was good.

AllHipHop.com: Do you think that if he could he would change things? What would he do differently?

Sabrina: That’s something I would have to ask him, that’s such a personal question. I can say what I think he should do differently, but I didn’t create his empire, and I can’t be the person to say how it should have been created differently.

AllHipHop.com: What would you do differently, if anything?

Sabrina: I don’t think I would do anything differently. We had a debate one time about how flashy he was, and how maybe he shouldn’t be so flashy and maybe he should slow down and not throw money in the club, or put billboards up everywhere. His response to that was that he was already going to jail. Every n*gga that do what he did always ends up in jail. And this was way before he went to jail, he said, the difference between him and them is that he is going to get letters. But, for other guys, no one may care if they go to jail, but they also won’t care if you stay. The downside for Meech is that because of his influence, people on the political side care that he stays there.

AllHipHop.com: What did you learn from him?

Sabrina: What I learned from him? Wow. A lot. I learned marketing, I learned public relations. I learned how to deal with people a lot. I learned a lot from his lessons, such that you can give the whole world to some people, and people won’t reciprocate it back. As far as when it comes to my business, I would reach out to him, and he would give me business advice.

AllHipHop.com: It seems like you all also had a mentor type relationship.

Sabrina: Definitely. He gave me a lot of advice on my businesses. He was my go-to person. When I don’t know how to deal with a new dude I’m dealing with… he actually called me once out of the blue and told me to lose weight [laughter]. Those are some of the things that make him really, really special to me. I’m proud that he’s proud of me. For me, I loved him so much and I cared about him so much, it was always in the back of my head to show him that he needed me, I captured his heart through my hard work and my hustle. When I want to give up on my salon or my business, I find my strength in him still.

AllHipHop.com: What is your relationship like now? How often do you talk?

Sabrina: Since December, I can’t talk to him. Prior to that, as much as we could. He only gets 300 minutes a month; however that rations out between a call here and a call there. He still has to call his son’s mom, his mother. He loves a pen pal, so he has girls, fans, who have written him that he might talk to. I’m happy for them, because without them, it would be hard for him to hold on. It’s part of my probation. For the three years that I’m on probation, I can’t talk to him.

AllHipHop.com: I’m sure that’s difficult.

Sabrina: Yeah, it’s real difficult, because I need him. When he is going through all of this stuff, I can’t be there. Through his daughter, she is able to talk to him about me, and I am able to find out how he is doing. Sometimes it feels like the only way we can communicate is through energy.

AllHipHop.com: What was dating like after him?

Sabrina: It’s wack. You got a man with big body parts, big money, big shine, then you see these other dudes, they got ok-sized body parts, ok-sized money, ok-sized shine. [laughter] At the end of the day, those things are attractive. The level of respect and power he had was an attractive thing. He’s a hard act to follow. You got all these n*ggas out here who want to be him or be like him. You got one dude in your bed and your main dude on The History Channel, your heart, and your mind. You go to the club, you hear, “I think I’m Big Meech,” and the dude you with dancing to the song. [laughter] It’s a hard act to follow.

AllHipHop.com: What would you tell other girls about that lifestyle? Or being with a man with that lifestyle?

Sabrina: I would tell other girls… don’t get caught in the flash. Once you get to a certain age, you need to know that fast money stops, fast men get slowed down. You don’t want to get so caught up, especially here in Atlanta. These young girls are attracted to the flash and the glitz. But there is a flipside; the flipside is some days are painful.

I’m 33, and I’m starting over again. When you choose that lifestyle, it eventually chases up. I didn’t know when it was going to catch up to me, but I’m glad it did, because until it does, you barely sleep. Always looking over your shoulder, wondering which car is the cops, but I ran my business from a standpoint of fear because I never knew when the Feds were going to come in a take it from me. Now, I can move on with a clean slate and tell my story. Maybe somebody will see through what I went through and make different decisions.

AllHipHop.com: What were you indicted for?

Sabrina: I was indicted for seven drug charges. I was convicted of lying to a federal officer. That’s what I’m on probation for.

AllHipHop.com: Was your indictment related to BMF?

Sabrina: No. It was after Meech.

AllHipHop.com: If Meech was to see this article, what is something you would like to say just to him?

Sabrina: That I love you. I’m going to keep grinding and keep shining. They got me f*cked on this Federal probation thing, and I’m glad to be able to actually say this to you. I’m hearing about what you are going through; I’m hearing about Lewisburg. Stay strong. Don’t go crazy in there. Don’t lose your mind and lose your sanity, because that’s what they really want you to do, they want you to bow down.

I know that you got everything it takes to maintain and continue to be the boss that you are where you at. I feel bad that I’m not powerful enough to make the moves that I need to make for you. It frustrates me every day. I hope that my prayers are enough to get you through right now. I ain’t going nowhere as long as you ain’t going nowhere. I might be with a hundred n*ggas but only one n*gga got my heart.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Wait A Second – Did Lil' Kim Call Drake "B*tch-Made" Or Not?

Yesterday, the Phoenix Times released a story yesterday claiming that Lil’ Kim lashed out against Drake in a recent interview with them. According to the newspaper, Lil’ Kim called Drake “b####-made” for his recent fight with Chris Brown and implied that he was a homosexual. Check what she allegedly told the paper below:

“You don’t gotta be a tough guy to be a rapper, but don’t dress up in Gangsta Drag when you a b-tch. Drake’s a bottom – y’all know what I mean when I say that,” reads the fake interview. “What I know about Drake is he is b-tch-made. Meaning he’s an instigator, and a p—y.  He had no issue stepping to Lil’ Kim, I’m like five feet tall. But he didn’t try stepping to Chris, a man, because he’s simply a coward.”

As we all know, Lil’ Kim had an issue with Drake last year during the height of her beef with Nicki Minaj, so these statements are not too far fetched. But according to her publicist, Lil’ Kim never made these statements and never even had an interview with the paper. Check out the statement Kim’s publicist sent to HipHopWired below:

“As it pertains to the story that was allegedly posted by the Phoenix Times, I would like to inform fans, media, and the general public, that the fictitious editorial is just that,” says her publicist. “My client did not participate in any interview with the Phoenix Times or anyone else for that matter. As Kim’s publicist, I oversee all media matters and have never arranged anything with the Phoenix Times. Please disregard this nonsense and any other foolishness.”

Alright then. Do you believe Kimmy Blanco?

Hip-Hop Rumors: Pusha-T Says Lil' Wayne's Diss Record Was "Trash"

Pusha-T kept it all the way real in an interview with Funkmaster Flex on HOT 97 in NYC last night. The G.O.O.D Music rapper spoke on an array of issues, including Nicki not performing at Summer Jam and the Drake/Chris Brown fight.

But first things first, we all want to know what Pusha-T thinks of the Lil’ Wayne’s diss record, “Ghoulish”. Check out what he said about the diss below:

“It was horrible. It was trash. It wasn’t great. I haven’t said anything about it ’cause I didn’t think it was good enough to respond to.”

That was a brutally honest answer. Pusha-T admitted that he was still confused about the whole thing and wants to know what was it that caused Lil’ Wayne to go off.

“He’s already said what he’s said. At the end of the day, I think him saying what he said was in his best interest, to admit that you were emotional in reacting to something. I still want to know what part pertained, what hit you? I wanna know.

“I was surprised by anybody, Wayne specifically, answering ‘Exodus.’ I’ve never seen one record that didn’t say a name cause so much of a firestorm.”

Pusha-T revealed that G.O.O.D Music label head Kanye West and he have never spoken about his beef with Lil’ Wayne.

“I don’t talk to ‘Ye about rappers. I blacks out. I get busy. I stand by myself. We ain’t talked about it once.”

Pusha-T also spoke his mind about the Chris Brown vs. Drake beef and may have taken a shot or two at Drake in the process.

“I would have never thought that the two was at it like that. I really wouldn’t have put them together and that whole situation. I didn’t like it. You know Chris from Virginia. I ain’t like that. You know, bottles and cuts and all that… That’s weak.”

But when it came to Nicki Minaj pulling out of Summer Jam, Pusha seemed to be riding with Nicki on this one.

“I thought it showed a real level of camaraderie by her listening [to Wayne] and not performing, and sort of banding together like, ‘Yo, we ain’t doing it.’ There was some solidarity there. I thought that was fresh.

“Let’s call a s#### a s####. [Peter] Rosenberg attacked her. Rosenberg was doing him, but that’s what he does. He’s an outspoken guy, everybody knows that. … I definitely would have performed, just for the sake of my fans. I know Rosenberg’s personality well enough to know that this is what comes with the territory. It’s a cruel world out here. Everybody got their own opinions. When Rosenberg disses me, I’ma black out in a verse immediately the best way I know how.”

Was that a warning shot to Rosenberg to keep Pusha’s name out his mouth, unless he wants to end up on a song?! Pusha also said that there will “definitely” be another Clipse album on the way, and he cleared up any rumors that he and (No) Malice have broken up.

“A lot of people get that twisted and they say, ‘You and your brother broke up.’ We can’t break up, we brothers. It doesn’t happen that way. He went and did his book and I went on a solo venture. We definitely coming back with another Clipse album.”

I can’t wait for that Clipse album! Side note: do you think Drake is going to respond to Pusha calling his actions “weak?”

Lil Wayne Earns 100th Entry On Billboard's Hip-Hop/R&B Charts With "Pop That"

(AllHipHop News) Lil Wayne has officially earned his 100th entry on Billboard’s Hip-Hop/R&B Charts with the debut of French Montana’s “Pop That” record at #57 which features Wayne, Rick Ross, and Drake.

Wayne is only the third artist and second rapper in history to reach the 100th entry milestone since the R&B chart was created in 1942. However, Jay-Z currently holds the record for rappers with 108 charting entries, while the all-time charting leader is James Brown who saw 111 of his songs make their way to the R&B chart between 1956 and 1993 according to Billboard.

Wayne’s first appearance on the Hip-Hop/R&B chart was in 1999 when he appeared on Juvenile’s#### single “Back That Thang Up.” Eventually the song peaked at #5 which was the first of 29 entries that Wayne has had in the Top 10. He is currently tied with Ludacris for a rapper having the most Top 10’s.

If there is any asterisk to be added to Wayne’s accomplishment, it would be that only 31 of his 100 charting songs were his own, while the other 69 were records that the New Orleans native was featured on. Wayne’s first song as a lead was “Tha Block Is Hot”, which featured his fellow Cash Money artists at the time, Juvenile and B.G.

According to Billboard, “Lil Wayne’s popularity hit new heights in 2011, when he bowed a career-best 22 titles. He also logged his longest No. 1 run as a featured act on DJ Khaled’s “I’m on One” (11 weeks). The track also features Drake and Ross – the same guests who join Lil Wayne on his milestone 100th chart entry.

“Of his 100 charted songs, Lil Wayne has sent eight to No. 1. Among rappers, only Weezy’s protégé Drake and Jay-Z, each with nine, have more.”

Jay-Z on the other hand has had 69 of his 108 songs chart while the other 39 were records he was featured on.
