Jay-Z Sued Over Insurance Dispute For Maids, Servants

(AllHipHop News) Rap star/mogul Jay-Z has been hit with a lawsuit by the Workers Compensation Board of New York.

TMZ.com reports that the Workers Compensation Board of New York has filed a lawsuit against Jay-Z, over an $18,000 fine over a dispute regarding workers compensation insurance.

The rapper was sued for the $18,000 for not having the proper insurance for his domestic help for three months in 2009.

The insurance was meant to cover domestic workers in Jay-Z’s house, including his cooks, maids and drivers.

A court ruled in favor of the Workers Compensation Board of New York and ordered Jay to fork over the cash, for not having the proper insurance.

But reps for Jay-Z claimed that he quickly acquired the proper insurance for his domestic servants and disputed the $18,000 fine.

According to TMZ, the $18,000 bill was the result of a “clerical error.”

In related news, Jay-Z’s 40/40 Club will reopen in New York City on January 18.

The club closed in June, to undergo $10 million dollars worth of renovations that includes a new bar, VIP section and menu.

During the reconstruction, Jay-Z was l criticized for his choice of labor to work on the 40/40 Club.

In September, the Carpenters Union in New York protested Jay-Z for hiring nonunion labor by erecting five large inflatable rats, in front of the 40/40 Club.

Reps for Jay-Z said they had no obligations to hire union workers and claimed members of the union used the “N” word during the protest.

UTFO's Doc Ice Preps New Album

(AllHipHop News) Rap veteran Doc Ice of legendary Hip-Hop group U.T.F.O. is planning to release a new solo album.

Doc Ice landed in the Hip-Hop history books when he co-wrote the classic single “Roxanne, Roxanne.”

In 2012, the rapper will drop The Doctor Will See You Now, his third official solo album.

“I’ve heard many people say that we are in the day of the singles, and I feel they say that because they’re incapable of making an album that would keep the consumer happy,” Doc Ice told AllHipHop.com.

“I decided to drop this album to show that albums are relevant and they give the listening audience more of a commitment from the artist,” Doc Ice
said.

Doc Ice rose to fame with the song “Roxanne, Roxanne,” which was released on Select Records in 1984 and started the “Roxanne Wars” which produced over 20 answer records.

The group released their self titled debut the following year, which contained classic Hip-Hop tracks like “Beats and Rhymes,” “Lisa Lipps,” and the R&B hit single “Fairytale Lover.”

Doc is already promoting The Doctor Will See You Now’s first single “The Come Back,” as well as the album’s second release, “They’ll Never Be,” which features R&B veterans Full Force.

The Doctor Will See You Now is due in stores in early 2012.

As you know, I love the UK…well I just wish I had their accent. The latest with Kanye is that he is looking to move to the UK to make his career leap forward more than it already is. Not only is he working on new music, but he’s also about to move to the United Kingdom for his fashion endeavors, according to rumor. They are even saying he may put his music on hold, which sounds false to me. But, this is all in preparation for Fashion Week in Paris. I think earlier this year, he caught some heat for his fashions and may be looking for some “get back.” He’s reportedly looking for apartments right now.

(AllHipHop News) Last night (December 27), one half of the Slaughterhouse regime, Joe Budden and Joell Ortiz, performed for a sold-out crowd of hardcore fans at S.O.B.’s in New York City.

Before the show, AllHipHop.com got a chance to speak to Joe and Joell about a number of topics; however, one of the interview’s standout moments occurred when Joe was asked about his often-talked about mixtape Feature Presentation.

Over the past several months, many updates on the mixtape as well as songs from the project have hit the net.

Joe often tweeted about his hopes and plans to work with the likes of Blu, Elzhi, Kendrick Lamar, Phonte, J. Cole, and more.

In the video below, Joe explains why exactly the mixtape will not be released in its original form.

ATF Picks Up Soulja Boy's October Gun and Weed Case

(AllHipHop News) The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has decided to take on 21-year-old Soulja Boy’s case, after the rapper was arrested in October of this year in Temple, Georgia.

Soulja Boy, born DeAndre Cortez Way, was pulled over on Interstate 20 for a traffic violation.

After searching the car, officers found handguns, thousands of dollars in cash and more than five ounces of marijuana.

According to the Temple police, Soulja’s accomplices, Dontay Lamar Bates, Camron Wagner and James Raymond Smith were all charged with felony possession of marijuana, possession with intent to distribute and were also charged with the possession of a firearm.

“This office has not charged a defendant named DeAndre Cortez Way, a/k/a Soulja Boy,” Yvette Comer, representative of the U.S. District Attorney’s Office said. “Otherwise, we do not confirm or deny federal investigations in any matters.”

John R. Murphy, special agent for the Drug Enforcement Agency’s Atlanta Field Division, told the Times-Georgian that the case did not meet requirements for federal drug investigation.

“There were some initial discussions about taking it federal, but it didn’t make any federal guidelines,” Murphy explained in a statement to reporters. “As far as the drugs, it was five ounces of marijuana, that wouldn’t even register on a federal level. If you’ve got a rapper that could show legitimate income, that could be contested as being legitimate income, and without a substantial amount of drugs, we didn’t have anything that would rate a federal drug charge on that.”

Soulja’s attorney Kip Jones had not returned calls regarding the case as of Tuesday afternoon.

Yooooooooo! Happy New Year! It looks like BeyonJay or Jeyonce or whatever yall call them…will have their baby TODAY! Apparently, there are some nurses that don’t know the law and have decided to talk and related that the VIP section of Labor and Delivery Suite at St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital in New York has been bought OUT. And that means the ever caked up couple has made their accommodations KNOWN. Apparently, B was shaking her groove thing recently and may have helped the baby come down. We’ll see if this is the best year ever for Jay or will he start off 2012 that way.
