Hip-Hop Rumors: Did Ol’ Dirty Bastard Steal Rhymes For His Albums?

Method Man is letting all of Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s secrets out of the 36 Chambers. In a recent interview with Complex magazine, Meth claims ODB stole a majority of the lyrics on his debut album, Return to the 36 Chambers: The Dirty Version, from RZA and GZA.

“Dirty took all their sh*t and made it his own, and GZA ain’t say sh*t. Most of [Dirty’s verses] was GZA’s sh*t. I remember GZA and ODB got in an argument one night, and GZA was like, ‘N#### most of that sh*t on your f*cking album is mines anyway!’”

Meth did give ODB credit for writing “Brooklyn Zoo,” but not without throwing Big Baby Jesus under the bus one more time:

“I could go through the discography, I could tell you which ones he wrote. Like “Dog Sh*t” on Wu-Tang Forever? ‘Calling me a dog/But leave a dog alone/Because nothing can stop me/from burying my bones’ – I wrote that when I was 15 years old.”

I’m not sure why Method Man would attempt to tarnish what’s left of Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s legacy, but it’s foul nonetheless.

Until next time…Xaviera

Hip-Hop Rumors: Nore Dead? Gadhafi Alive?

NORE DEAD? GADHAFI ALIVE?

What is the world coming to? I woke up today and found out that there are rumors of life and death about Nore (the rapper) and Moammar Gadhafi (the leader of Libya).

Well let’s get to the first part – THE RAPPER. You know most of us don’t care about that BS international news that really affects us. Apparently, rumors swirled around about Nore being dead today. But why? I don’t know, but it seems the viral gossip circuit momentarily killed Nore off because of some confusion around one of his friends. A friend of Nore’s sadly died and people got it mixed up. So, Nore is alive and well in Miami in mourning. At least we aren’t mourning him this morning.

Now to the REAL NEWS….

Per CNN, Moammar Gadhafi has apparently been slain in some attack. He may be captured, but CNN has said that they, as a company, cannot quite verify if he has been killed. Here is what they are saying now:

Rebels said Moammar Gadhafi was killed when fighters attacked the house where he was Thursday, National Transitional Council (NTC) Information Minister Mahmoud Shamman told CNN. “He tried to flee and they killed him. When they met him, he was alive and he was killed in action,” Shamman said. Shamman said the NTC’s chairman or prime minister will officially confirm the death.

The minister of information of Libya said, “”He tried to flee and they killed him. When they met him, he was alive and he was killed in action.”

Click here for a play by play on CNN, because I am already hearing that he was wounded, not KILLED.

Hmph….what do you think of this? I know my boy ED OGz will have something to say.

Rick Ross Forced To Cancel Another Show This Weekend

(AllHipHop News) Rap star Rick Ross has been forced to cancel his fourth concert in less than a week, since suffering from a serious medical affliction last Friday.

Organizers for the Tru 2 Music concert have announced that the event planned for Sunday (October 23) at the Nokia Theater has also been postponed, according to a spokesperson from Tru Royalty Entertainment, co-promoter of the show.

“We truly want Rick Ross to be at 110 per cent so that he is able to offer fans a once-in-a-lifetime show. His healthy recovery is our main concern, and we have worked with management to ensure the new date gives Rick Ross enough time to recoup [sic].”

This is the fourth show that Rick Ross has been forced to cancel since suffering a pair of seizures on Friday (October 14).

The rapper missed a show in Memphis, Tennessee, after suffering from a seizure while taking off for the gig, from Fort Lauderdale Florida.

He was also forced to cancel a show at North Carolina A&T, as well as a show at Georgia State University.

Representatives for the rapper have yet to issue a statement regarding his medical condition.

The concert, which was also to feature appearances by Busta Rhymes and Eric Bellinger, has been postponed until January 14.

Russell Simmons Celebrates 15 Years Of Art; Plans To Take Gallery International

(AllHipHop News) A number of executives and artists turned out to support hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons, who hosted an annual gala for his Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation.

Russell Simmons and his brother Danny, hosted the 2011 Gold Rush Awards, which were held at the Bombay Sapphire East House of Imagination in New York tonight (October 19).

“Art education really changes people’s lives,” Russell Simmons told AllHipHop.com. “It really allows people to think their way out of whatever struggle they claim. The first thing to be cut from educational budgets is the arts, so we must find ways to fill the void. The couple million dollars we raised is really just a drop in the bucket compared to what’s needed. We need serious financing and funding for the arts in school.”

The event was held to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Simmons’s Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation.

Over 2,000 students have benefitted from the four different galleries the foundation operates, in four different schools in New York.

Danny Simmons told AllHipHop.com that the foundation was expanding

“We’ve been doing this a long time,” Danny Simmons told AllHipHop.com “it’s important work for our culture. These people are our voice. I started my first gallery 25 years ago, and we are ready to step out on to the international stage.”

Danny Simmons said that exhibits were being planned in Dubai, South Africa, and Ethiopia.

The event also honored Sherry Bronfman, who was given an award by the Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation, for her longterm work with the organization in the art community.
