“Welcome To DC Obama”
“Welcome To DC Obama”
“Hood Dreamer”
On Wednesday, November 5, 2008, shortly
after midnight, Senator Barack Obama addressed his nation for the first time as
its soon to be 44th President. For eighteen minutes, in front of a
crowd of approximately a quarter million people representing Americans from
every race, creed and age group, President-Elect Obama expressed gratitude,
abated fears, and spoke of the challenges ahead.
His speech came nearly one hour after
he was declared the clear winner of the 2008 Presidential Election, becoming
not only the first African-American president of the United States, but also
the first Democrat since the first Senator to be elected to the Oval Office
since John F. Kennedy and the first Democratic Candidate to the popular vote by
such a wide margin since Lyndon Johnson did it in 1964.
But even before the statistics were
released, the significance of this moment was clear to the Hip-Hop Generation,
the same group who, according to the pundits, was responsible for Obamas
victory. By the time the President Elect hit that stage in Chicagos Grant
Park, words of hope, feelings of encouragement and preparations for the work
ahead where transmitted via many of the same technological advances credited
for the success of the Obama campaign.
Below, we bring you the Obama victory
speech in its entirety, with some commentary from the Hip-Hop community.
If there is anyone out there who still doubts that America is a place where
all things are possible, who still wonders if the dream of our founders is
alive in our time, who still questions the power of our democracy, tonight is
your answer.
It’s the answer told by lines that stretched around schools and churches in
numbers this nation has never seen, by people who waited three hours and four
hours, many for the first time in their lives, because they believed that this
time must be different, that their voices could be that difference. It’s the
answer spoken by young and old, rich and poor, Democrat and Republican, black,
white, Hispanic, Asian, Native American, gay, straight, disabled and not
disabled. Americans who sent a message to the world that we have never been
just a collection of individuals or a collection of red states and blue
states. We are, and always will be, the United States of America.
I feel that now it is time to become
the American Dream. To be stronger as a people and to understand that my
parents and the struggles of our past leaders did not go in vain.

“This
is my proudest day as an American. We have elected a leader that represents
change and unity. Barack Obama has carved his place in history as a true beacon
of Hope!” Nick Cannon
Obama stands for hope, he’s a great
representation for real people. He helps clear the smog and smoke that has been
preventing us from seeing the future. Now our children have a fair chance. Billy Danze
Its a blessing to conquer all obstacles and roadblocks in our
way, now its on us to support what we believe in to conquer that long
road/recession we are facing ahead of us. Trae Tha Truth
It’s the answer that led those who’ve been told for so long by so many to
be cynical and fearful and doubtful about what we can achieve to put their
hands on the arc of history and bend it once more toward the hope of a better
day.
It’s been a long time coming, but tonight, because of what we did on this
date in this election at this defining moment change has come to America.
Theres a new
benchmark. I think a lot of the
psychological chains on Black people have been erased tonight. I think thats
one of the things that his presidency is gonna mean. Theres literally no limit
and we truly can achieve the zenith. Fonzworth Bentley
A little bit earlier this evening, I received an extraordinarily gracious
call from Senator McCain. Sen. McCain fought long and hard in this campaign.
And he’s fought even longer and harder for the country that he loves. He has
endured sacrifices for America that most of us cannot begin to imagine. We are
better off for the service rendered by this brave and selfless leader. I
congratulate him; I congratulate Gov. Palin for all that they’ve achieved. And
I look forward to working with them to renew this nation’s promise in the
months ahead.
I want to thank my partner in this journey, a man who campaigned from his
heart, and spoke for the men and women he grew up with on the streets of
Scranton and rode with on the train home to Delaware, the vice president-elect
of the United States, Joe Biden.
And I would not be standing here tonight without the unyielding support of
my best friend for the last 16 years the rock of our family, the love of my
life, the nation’s next first lady Michelle Obama.
“This is an
amazing, definitive victory. The melting pot of the United States–young and
old–has spoken. Change is here. We are all engaged again in democracy.
President-elect Obama has his work cut out for him, and at this amazing moment
in U.S and world history, the “VIBErant” citizens of America are
clearly ready work to turn our best hopes into reality.” Danyel Smith,
Editor in Chief of Vibe magazine
Sasha and Malia I love you both more than you can imagine. And you have
earned the new puppy that’s coming with us to the White House. And while she’s
no longer with us, I know my grandmother’s watching, along with the family that
made me who I am. I miss them tonight. I know that my debt to them is beyond
measure.
Tuesday night was really a thank you night. Its a
thank you to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., to Dr. Ralph David Abernathy, to Dr.
Benjamin E. Mays, to Rosa Parks, to Fannie Lou Hamer, to Dr. Joseph E. Lowery,
to Andrew Young, to Rev. C.T. Vivian, to my great-grandparents, and
grandparents and parents, to your forefathers and all of the unsung heroes who
were confident that this day was coming. My posture is really that of thanks. I
just cant wait to see Malia and Sasha running around on that lawn. Thats the
image that I want to see. Bentley
To my sister Maya, my sister Alma, all my other brothers and sisters, thank
you so much for all the support that you’ve given me. I am grateful to them.
And to my campaign manager, David Plouffe, the unsung hero of this
campaign, who built the best — the best political campaign, I think, in the
history of the United States of America. To my chief strategist David Axelrod
who’s been a partner with me every step of the way. To the best campaign team
ever assembled in the history of politics you made this happen, and I am
forever grateful for what you’ve sacrificed to get it done.
But above all, I will never forget who this victory truly belongs to. It
belongs to you. It belongs to you. I was never the likeliest candidate for this
office. We didn’t start with much money or many endorsements. Our campaign was
not hatched in the halls of Washington. It began in the backyards of Des Moines
and the living rooms of Concord and the front porches of Charleston. It was
built by working men and women who dug into what little savings they had to
give $5 and $10 and $20 to the cause.
It grew strength from the young people who rejected the myth of their
generation’s apathy who left their homes and their families for jobs that
offered little pay and less sleep. It drew strength from the not-so-young
people who braved the bitter cold and scorching heat to knock on doors of
perfect strangers, and from the millions of Americans who volunteered and
organized and proved that more than two centuries later a government of the
people, by the people, and for the people has not perished from the Earth.
I feel like I am a part of history.
Just being a part of the process of voting. I forced my family, friends, and
colleagues. We have a responsibility to change our reality. We must continue
the movement. There are No excuses NOW. Finally, we have a Black President.
This is an example and testimony that any minority can aspire and attain anything
they want.” – Fat Joe
None of these presidents ever meant nothing to me. I
know it might sound crazy, but none of them meant nothing to me. No matter how
much they said they were gonna do, or they tried to do, or they actually did,
it meant nothing to me and my type of people. Busta Rhymes
This is your victory. And I know you didn’t do this just to win an
election. And I know you didn’t do it for me. You did it because you understand
the enormity of the task that lies ahead. For even as we celebrate tonight, we
know the challenges that tomorrow will bring are the greatest of our lifetime
— two wars, a planet in peril, the worst financial crisis in a century.
Even as we stand here tonight, we know there are brave Americans waking up
in the deserts of Iraq and the mountains of Afghanistan to risk their lives for
us. There are mothers and fathers who will lie awake after the children fall
asleep and wonder how they’ll make the mortgage or pay their doctors’ bills or
save enough for their child’s college education. There’s new energy to harness,
new jobs to be created, new schools to build, and threats to meet, alliances to
repair.
The road ahead will be long. Our climb will be steep. We may not get there
in one year or even in one term. But, America, I have never been more hopeful
than I am tonight that we will get there. I promise you, we as a people will
get there.
There will be setbacks and false starts. There are many who won’t agree
with every decision or policy I make as president. And we know the government
can’t solve every problem. But I will always be honest with you about the
challenges we face. I will listen to you, especially when we disagree. And,
above all, I will ask you to join in the work of remaking this nation, the only
way it’s been done in America for 221 years — block by block, brick by brick,
calloused hand by calloused hand.
God
forbid, if too much damage has been done if Barack cannot really make all the
improvements, if everything that were looking to get from this man we dont
get, the fact that hes willing to bear the weight and take on the
responsibility, that speaks in volumes to me. That speaks in volumes to our
people. Busta Rhymes
What began 21 months ago in the depths of winter cannot end on this autumn
night. This victory alone is not the change we seek. It is only the chance for
us to make that change. And that cannot happen if we go back to the way things
were. It can’t happen without you, without a new spirit of service, a new
spirit of sacrifice. So let us summon a new spirit of patriotism, of
responsibility, where each of us resolves to pitch in and work harder and look
after not only ourselves but each other. Let us remember that, if this
financial crisis taught us anything, it’s that we cannot have a thriving Wall
Street while Main Street suffers. In this country, we rise or fall as one
nation, as one people. Let’s resist the temptation to fall back on the same
partisanship and pettiness and immaturity that has poisoned our politics for so
long.
Anytime you get
to witness something you were told would never happen, its life changing
because you see a piece of the barrier called impossibility knocked down. But
at the same time, now more than ever we gotta play our part and be held
accountable for our neighborhoods and generation. We cant sit back and yell
save us Barack! Playboi Tre
The change was not just him getting elected. Thats
where it begins. But its Barack Obamas job to provide the vision and
leadership. The work begins now. And I think for us, as a people, weve come
this far by faith, but I think now we really have to redirect our priorities,
which are education, putting our faith first, our pride, our dignity, taking
care of our families, taking care of our communities, learning to care for one
another again. Return to the teaching of our elders. Barack needs us, just as
much as we need him. We are all in this together. Fonzworth Bentley
Let’s remember that it was a man from this state who first carried the
banner of the Republican Party to the White House, a party founded on the
values of self-reliance and individual liberty and national unity. Those are
values that we all share. And while the Democratic Party has won a great
victory tonight, we do so with a measure of humility and determination to heal
the divides that have held back our progress. As Lincoln said to a nation far
more divided than ours, we are not enemies but friends. Though passion may have
strained, it must not break our bonds of affection. And to those Americans
whose support I have yet to earn, I may not have won your vote tonight, but I
hear your voices. I need your help. And I will be your president, too.
And to all those watching tonight from beyond our shores, from parliaments
and palaces, to those who are huddled around radios in the forgotten corners of
the world, our stories are singular, but our destiny is shared, and a new dawn
of American leadership is at hand.
“I am ecstatic! I got the news
arriving in the UK, I’m so proud of the Americans for making that change
happen! Let’s go towards a great new future!” – Estelle
This was a
necessity to preserve America itself. With Obama as a spokesperson, this nation
will be able to accomplish its agenda. His legacy has changed the face of
America. Now the question is: will it change America? Immortal Technique.
“While
we enjoyed this historic moment and victory for change, let’s work smarter and
harder to show the world the change within America. People are paying
attention. We have a “unique” platform to impact change. Let’s make
it happen and today as we continue to move in a greater direction.”
– Londell McMillan, Publisher of the Source Magazine
“Barack Obama is a movement. He has given a new
hope to people across the world that hasn’t really been seen since Dr.
King. I’m glad that I was able to witness and share this experience with
my family and especially my kids.” Shawty Lo
To those — to those who would tear the world down: We will defeat you. To
those who seek peace and security: We support you. And to all those who have
wondered if America’s beacon still burns as bright: Tonight we proved once more
that the true strength of our nation comes not from the might of our arms or
the scale of our wealth, but from the enduring power of our ideals: democracy, liberty,
opportunity and unyielding hope.
That’s the true genius of America: that America can change. Our union can
be perfected. What we’ve already achieved gives us hope for what we can and
must achieve tomorrow.
This election had many firsts and many stories that will be told for
generations. But one that’s on my mind tonight’s about a woman who cast her
ballot in Atlanta. She’s a lot like the millions of others who stood in line to
make their voice heard in this election except for one thing: Ann Nixon Cooper
is 106 years old. She was born just a generation past slavery; a time when
there were no cars on the road or planes in the sky; when someone like her
couldn’t vote for two reasons — because she was a woman and because of the
color of her skin.
And tonight, I think about all that she’s seen throughout her century in
America — the heartache and the hope; the struggle and the progress; the times
we were told that we can’t, and the people who pressed on with that American
creed: Yes we can. At a time when women’s voices were silenced and their hopes
dismissed, she lived to see them stand up and speak out and reach for the
ballot. Yes we can. When there was despair in the dust bowl and depression
across the land, she saw a nation conquer fear itself with a New Deal, new
jobs, a new sense of common purpose. Yes we can.
When the bombs fell on our harbor and tyranny threatened the world, she was
there to witness a generation rise to greatness and a democracy was saved. Yes
we can. She was there for the buses in Montgomery, the hoses in Birmingham, a
bridge in Selma, and a preacher from Atlanta who told a people that “We
Shall Overcome.” Yes we can. A man touched down on the moon, a wall came
down in Berlin, a world was connected by our own science and imagination.
And this year, in this election, she touched her finger to a screen, and
cast her vote, because after 106 years in America, through the best of times
and the darkest of hours, she knows how America can change. Yes we can.
America, we have come so far. We have seen so much. But there is so much
more to do. So tonight, let us ask ourselves — if our children should live to
see the next century; if my daughters should be so lucky to live as long as Ann
Nixon Cooper, what change will they see? What progress will we have made?
This is our chance to answer that call. This is our moment.
Im glad that Im alive to witness
something that has been whispered about since I was born. Its cool to see a
mixed nation embrace a black man thats proud to be a black man. And this is my
first time Im voting, the main reason [being] my last name! Damon Dame
Grease Blackman
“I
registered to vote and actually voted for the first time this year and I am
proud I was a part of history. I never thought I would live to see a black
President and I hope this is the beginning of a major change.”-Gorilla Zoe
This is our time, to put our people back to work and open doors of
opportunity for our kids; to restore prosperity and promote the cause of peace;
to reclaim the American dream and reaffirm that fundamental truth, that, out of
many, we are one; that while we breathe, we hope. And where we are met with
cynicism and doubts and those who tell us that we can’t, we will respond with
that timeless creed that sums up the spirit of a people: Yes, we can.
I watched a Black man become president
in the presence of my grandmother, mother and little brother. I feel a feeling
that no words can describe. America is beginning to reflect our own words, that
it seemed out country had once forgotten. We are all created equal, and now
viewed as such. I feel as though I can conquer the world. No man or woman can
stop me from making my dreams come true and in that, I hope to change lives of
other people for the better. Trey Songz
President
Barack Obama’s victory marks the birth of change. The birth of pride,
progression and inspiration. This is validation of the timeless cliché that
anything is possible. Celebration is in order as we welcome a new
America! –Willie The Kid
I feel proud and hopeful now that
things will change. As a father, a sense of security overwhelms me. This is a
start that our people need to better themselves. Out of this win, I feel that I
will be a better man and I encourage other men to use this as motivation to do
better. Punchline of the group E.M.C
Today
is a new world! Your President is Black! This country and the world are a
better place. All that this nation has endured over the last 8 years – 9/11,
Katrina, The Iraq War, Gas Prices, The Economy, Gore losing, Kerry losing and
Bush – was all for this to happen. Change in America and change in the world.
You better know that if Gore or Kerry had won that Barack Obama would have
never had a chance, so all this happened for a reason. All this struggle had
its purpose. This was our struggle together. So be proud cause now YOUR
PRESIDENT IS BLACK! Isaac Ike Dirty Hayes III
Thank you. God bless you. And may God bless
the United States of America.
Lorenzo Patterson, better known as MC Ren, turned the rap world upside down as a member of the gangster-rap pioneering group known as N.W.A. While fellow members Eazy-E, Ice Cube and Dr. Dre had a more visible presence, the group would not have been the same without Rens razor sharp and rapid hard-hitting lyrics, which served as a proper one-two punch with Ice Cubes loud yet charismatic flow on the classic Straight Outta Compton. The group was left to fill a huge void as Ice Cube departed for a solo career and that meant a much larger load for MC Ren to carry on N.W.As Efil4Zaggin. With Ren as the only true lyricist left in the group the album was forced to rely heavily on music production to make up for the lack of the one-two punch that they previously had. We all know what happened next as Dr. Dre was the next to leave over monetary concerns which gave MC Ren the opportunity to release his solo works, Kizz My Black Azz, Shock Of The Hour, The Villain In Black and Ruthless For Life. The solo material never lived up to the commercial success of his former group-mates; however, Ren was able to attain a very loyal fan base that still exists to this very day. After a long hiatus from the rap game, The Villain is once again ready to strike with a brand new album currently in the works. In this exclusive interview MC Ren takes us to the beginning where it all started, all of the way to his current status where he discusses his new album and his new online radio show. AllHipHop.com: When were you first christened with the name MC Ren?MC Ren: That was like in 1984. I started rhyming in 83 and back then I was calling myself Master Ren, like Grandmaster Flash and Grandmaster Melle Mel. That was like when I was first starting off but the next year I became MC Ren. I dropped the Master because it didnt sound right. Thats how that all came about. N.W.A “Straight Outta Compton” VideoAllHipHop.com: How good were your skills back in those early days?MC Ren: I was good. I was the best in my neighborhood. I could tear your ass up freestyling off the top of the head. It was just me and this other cat in my neighborhood – and a few others that were trying to rhyme back then. I was the best to me. AllHipHop.com: Did you have the rapid style that you are known for, back then?MC Ren: I didnt have that yet. That didnt come until later down the line. At that time I was mimicking Run-DMC. It wasnt until high school that I tried to really get it going and change it up. Then when I got with the group [N.W.A.] I developed my own little style. AllHipHop.com: How did you go about getting in the group in the first place?MC Ren: I was going to do a solo thing first. Eazy had the Boyz N Tha Hood song but it was only local at the time. I knew him and he stayed right around the corner from me. I was just amazed that someone from around my way put a record out. I went and hollered at him, he heard me rhyme and signed me to a solo deal with his label. This was before he blew up. Then it got to a point where I was writing for him and he was like, You might as well just come on in to the group. I just said, Ok, and thats how it all came about.
There really was no time to stop and reflect. It was all building up like do the record, the record comes out, do the video, get banned, the F.B.I. letter all of that bulls**t added up and you really didnt have the time to think about it. It went so fast! Now looking back… Who would have thought?
AllHipHop.com: I bet you had no idea what you were getting yourself in to when you first signed up to be a part of N.W.A. MC Ren: Naw man, really I just wanted to be known locally. I had no idea that s**t was going to do what it did. It was a shock but once we started doing it everything just happened so fast. There really was no time to stop and reflect. It was all building up like do the record, the record comes out, do the video, get banned, the F.B.I. letter all of that bulls**t added up and you really didnt have the time to think about it. It went so fast! Now looking back on all of that, its crazy to me Its like, Who would have thought?N.W.A “100 Miles & Runnin'” VideoAllHipHop.com: Cube didnt have a contract when he left to go solo. Did you not have one at the time too?MC Ren: Nobody had a contract at that time. Nobody in the group really signed anything. It was easy for Cube to leave because of that reason. He was smart and b#### out. I could have held out too but we just looked at s**t differently and it turned out how it did. AllHipHop.com: Do you think that you could have left and had the same solo impact that Ice Cube did?MC Ren: I dont know. Hes had so much success hes really doing it. I dont know what kind of success I would have had. I dont know how big my records would have been but I would have still done me no matter what. AllHipHop.com: Did you really have a personal beef with Ice Cube? Or was it manufactured for marketing purposes?MC Ren: It was real but it was no big ass beef or anythinglike people think that it was. We were mad at him and he was mad at us but it was just verbal. No violence occurred. Whatever was said, it was just on records. After that all of us just cooled down. We are all always going to be connected; we are damn near like brothers for life even if we dont see each other or whatever. Back then, it was just verbal beef. We were mad because he left the group and he was mad back at us. I see a lot of specials and documentaries that talk about it. They say that we dissed him on 100 Miles and Runnin but there wasnt any kind of big diss on it. We were young and people were telling us that he was saying this about us and then people were telling him the same about us. We were young and s**t happened. We cant go back and change it but we are older now and we are men now, we know that s**t was just petty. We are all cool. MC Ren “Final Frontier” Video AllHipHop.com: Did you have any type of communication with Ice Cube during this whole verbal beef? MC Ren: No but when he first left the group we were still talking. He would call me because we were supposed to do a song on his Amerikkkas Most Wanted album. We were supposed to do a song but s**t got so bad that it didnt happen. AllHipHop.com: Do you think that Ruthless Records would have actually let you appear on his album? MC Ren: [Pauses] I dont know man. Now that I look back at it, I doubt it. It was before we started going back and forth with all of that little bulls**t but looking back now from a record companies perspective, I dont think Ruthless would have let that happen. AllHipHop.com: At this point were you now officially under contract?MC Ren: Yes, when he left everybody signed. They rushed to make that happen. The company didnt want that s**t to happen again. AllHipHop.com: Did you have any of Ice Cubes same concerns about money?MC Ren: Yes we all did but when Cube left, we thought that we could still negotiate this s**t and get what we want. It wasnt like the rest of us were just going to walk away. AllHipHop.com: Dr. Dre also left over money issues. Did you ever want to follow him out the door?MC Ren: When he first left, I went with him and he took me somewhere to some record company to hear someone talk about their plans for us. It just didnt seem right to me, so I was cool on it. I was like, Im straight where I am at. I didnt want to leave one situation that I thought wasnt cool and go in to a similar situation. At that point I was just tired of motherf**kers trying to tug and pull on me.
When [Dr. Dre] told me about it, it wasnt like, Leave with [me] and come make Death Row. He was just like, Leave. It wasnt about me not wanting to go to Death Row because it wasnt even formed yet it was just me not wanting to go through all of the bulls**t again.
AllHipHop.com: So you had reservations about the whole Death Row Records thing?MC Ren: When [Dr. Dre] told me about it, it wasnt like, Leave with [me] and come make Death Row. He was just like, Leave. Death Row wasnt really formed then. It wasnt about me not wanting to go to Death Row because it wasnt even formed yet it was just me not wanting to go through all of the bulls**t again. MC Ren “Mayday on the Frontline” VideoAllHipHop.com: Having no Dr. Dre beats at Ruthless must have made you concerned about the quality of music you were going to make in the future. MC Ren: Well, I knew that when Dre left there wasnt going to be an N.W.A anymore. Right after he left, I did my Kiss My Black Azz EP and started doing all of my solo s**t. I knew that N.W.A wasnt going to be anymore when we left and me and Eazy E used to get into it a lot. I would tell him, Man. The music isnt going to be the same without Dre doing it. Eazy wanted to bring in a lot of newer producers and I told him that s**t wasnt going to be the same. It was bad enough that Cube was gone and now Dre was gone. Nothing was going to be the same just a Ren and Eazy record. AllHipHop.com: So Eazy was still pushing the idea of keeping N.W.A. alive?MC Ren: He wanted to. But I could tell deep down when me and him used to talk about certain things that he knew it wasnt going to be the same. He knew that. AllHipHop.com: Did Eazy ever try to pressure you to diss Dr. Dre when they started beefing?MC Ren: Yes, I was. Eazy used to want me to do that. At the time I would tell him, Both of yall are cool with me. It was like having two brothers in the house fighting with each other and the other wanting to stay neutral because he didnt want to get involved. I told E that I dont want to get on one of his records and talk about Dre, the same way I wouldnt want to get on a Dre record and talk about him. When I told him that, he said, Yeah. You are right. For him to say that I was right was something else. Todays rap stars would be like, You arent riding for me? Eazy respected me and was like, Ok. This is between me and him then. He came to the realization that I didnt have anything to do with this. But they worked their s**t out. Dre went over there and made peace with him at the hospital and before Eazy passed he was telling me how he wanted to get N.W.A back together to do something. AllHipHop.com: Do you think you guys could have convinced Cube? Or would it have just been you, Eazy, Dre and Yella?MC Ren: I think Cube would have done it. I think he would have done it if everybody was involved. AllHipHop.com: Before Eazy died were you and Ice Cube on good terms again?MC Ren: Yeah. I saw Cube at that time I cant recall where but I hollered at him for a quick second. AllHipHop.com: What was that conversation like?MC Ren: I dont even remember to tell you the truth. But the situation wasnt ever like, Lets squash this s**t. After we got older, it was just squashed without us even talking about it. Just like when I was on the Up In Smoke Tour with Cube we were rollin on the bus together state to state and we never even talked about all of that old stuff. We probably joked about it once but that was it. MC Ren “Same Old S**t” VideoAllHipHop.com: Thats pretty cool especially since rappers tend to hold grudges after embarrassing stuff is said about them on records. MC Ren: All of the fools that used to battle on records back in the day are all cool with each other today. Its only a problem when motherf**kers start threatening each other with guns and talk about their family and what they will do to their kids and all of that stupid stuff. Motherf**kers get killed talking all of that type of s**t. AllHipHop.com: You released your solo works but they never lived up to the success that Ice Cube and Dr. Dre had with their solo works. Are you disappointed by that?MC Ren: As long as the people that love me bought them, thats all that I care about. There are motherf**kers out there today that will still play those albums. As long as they are playing them, thats cool with me. AllHipHop.com: I was so happy to see you, Cube and Dre come together for a song or two but I really wanted to see a full-scale reunion. Why couldnt you guys pull it off?MC Ren: I dont know. That is a really good question. I couldnt even tell you. We were supposed to do something when we went on tour in 2000 or 2001. We were supposed to record out on the road but it was so hectic and motherf**kers get tired so it never just materialized. AllHipHop.com: There werent any disagreements that prevented anything?MC Ren: Naw, it wasnt like that. Everybody was cool, but it just never happened. AllHipHop.com: So after that failed to happen, what happened to you? Fans havent heard much from you in a long while. MC Ren: After that, I was on a few peoples albums doing a 16 here or a 16 there. Then I just laid back. I just fell back and started living my family life.
Ive been doing this since 1983. All of the record company bulls**t I was just tired of it. After you do something for so long, you just want a break. I didnt want to do s**t with music… Recently I just got that bug again and started writing.
AllHipHop.com: You lost your interest in rap?MC Ren: Yeah man. Ive been doing this since 1983. All of the record company bulls**t I was just tired of it. After you do something for so long, you just want a break. Thats what I did. I broke and took a break. I didnt want to do s**t with music. Im cool with the family and all of that. It was chill. I did some reading, chilled with the family just regular s**t. Recently I just got that bug again and started writing.MC Ren “Ruthless for Life” VideoAllHipHop.com: You didnt participate in VH1s Rock Doc of N.W.A. Why is that?MC Ren: They called me at the last minute to drive way the f**k out there to do it and I was like, S**t! You cant call me at the last minute to do it. So I didnt do it. AllHipHop.com: How are you today with Dr. Dre? You have plans to be on Detox?MC Ren: Not right now. I havent talked to him in a long a** time. Im sure that sh*t is going to be tight but people ask me if I am going to be on it and I tell them no. AllHipHop.com: Do you ever see yourself doing anything again with your former bandmates?MC Ren: [pauses] I dont know man. Its whatever. Right now I just dont know. If something comes up, Im sure that they will get at me. AllHipHop.com: When did the writing bug bite you again?MC Ren: A few months ago. I just wanted to get back in it for my fans that love me and love the s**t that I do. What I do is for them so Im putting this album together called RenIncarnated. Im going to put it out on the Internet for them. AllHipHop.com: You arent going to release this through a label?MC Ren: No. F**k them! F**k those labels. The only way Ill deal with a label is if they break me hella off and I have the space to do what I do. But all of that politicking and ass kissing? Naw, I aint f**king with them or that. AllHipHop.com: You must really have some really bad past experiences with the record companies. MC Ren: I have so many of them. I could write a book about all of my experiences. AllHipHop.com: Have you ever thought about starting your own company so you wont have to deal with them anymore?MC Ren: I could do that but with the Internet I dont need a label to do any of that stuff. With the Internet its so easy to just put that *h*t out. F**k labels thats why everybody is doing their stuff on the Internet its big! Why f**k with these bulls**t labels when you can do it yourself and cut all of them out? Those labels just want to take and take and take. F**k that!AllHipHop.com: Its often said today to rappers who have been around since the 80s or 90s that they dont have their skills anymore. How do you feel about that in regards to yourself?MC Ren: I feel like this man, anybody that comes out and I dont give a f**k who it is. You come out and put out slammin ass albums like Public Enemy did with It Takes A Nations of Millions which was their best album ever but after that one the albums are cool but you cant top that s**t. Its like The Beatles. They came out big in the 60s but their solo work in the 70s could never match it. It was big but it wasnt on the Beatle-mania type of s**t. People cant expect that you are just going to stay like that your whole career. Michael Jordan can probably still get out there and ball but he isnt going to be dunkin on motherf**kers anymore. He did all of that. It is what it is people are going to love you or they are not. But Ive still got my skills I know Ive still got my skills. My skills are harder than most of these n****s in the game! A lot of people dont really have skills only a few. I still can put some s**t together. Ice Cube f/ Dr. Dre & MC Ren “Hello” VideoAllHipHop.com: Do you keep up with todays rap music?MC Ren: Yeah, I check it out. And you know Cube still has skills! He might not be the young Cube but hes the older Cube and hes still got skills. Theres a lot in todays game that cant f**k with him even now! AllHipHop.com: When is the RenIncarnated album coming out?MC Ren: Next year. Its going to be the sh*t. Ive got two songs on my MySpace go check them out. There are two cuts leaked until the album comes out. Im just focused on this sh*t right now. AllHipHop.com: Is it all Ren? Or will there be guests?MC Ren: All me. Im doing the music too me and my homeboy Apocalypse. Its mainly me doing the music though. AllHipHop.com: When did MC Ren become a producer?MC Ren: Man, Ive been doing beats for a long time people dont know! Back when I put CPO the Boss Hoggs album that was produced by me. I did all of that music. Ive been doing beats since back then but I wasnt trying to be out there shopping beats. I just focused on writing. But yeah Ive been doing that s**t man. When we first started N.W.A I got some equipment and I would ask Dr. Dre about this and that and he showed me how to work the SP-1200, 808, and all of that s**t we used to have back in the day. Ive been doing it off and on. Im back into it heavy right now just putting my album together. AllHipHop.com: Whats next for you after the RenIncarnated album? Do you have any other plans?MC Ren: Musically I will probably do some other stuff but right now I am just focused on that album. I also have a new radio show on 92.5 Burbank the MC Ren Radio Show [www.925thewhy.com]. Its going to be a tight show every Wednesday night at 7 PM Pacific Time. Im going to play classic Old School Hip-Hop the kind of music that I grew up to. Ill play some new stuff but I wont play a lot of s**t that you hear on mainstream FM radio. If I play some new s**t it will be some underground stuff that you arent hearing or just some tight s**t. It wont be anything like what you hear on mainstream radio. You will be hearing a lot of classics from Run-DMC, our N.W.A stuff, MC Shan and so on. AllHipHop.com: Since you bring up the classics. Who is MC Rens all time favorite?MC Ren: All time? Thats hard. But my tops are Run-DMC, Melle Mel, Ice-T, Chuck D, KRS-One and Ice Cube. AllHipHop.com: Which influenced you the most growing up?MC Ren: When I was young I used to listen to Run-DMC a lot. I used to like DMCs voice. Growing up I thought that his voice was hard as hell he had the hardest motherf**king voice ever. AllHipHop.com: What do you miss about Hip-Hop that you dont think you see much of today?MC Ren: Originality. Growing up rappers had their own look, their own style, and you couldnt bite anybody. If you did then you were wack and got dissed. Nowadays, everybody looks the same and sounds the same. Biting is allowed now. I miss originality. Back in our day, you had us and our sound. Then you had Slick Rick with the patch and gold chains. You also had Big Daddy Kane and Public Enemy everybody was different even Hammer. Everybody is the same now and they talk about the same things. AllHipHop.com: Ren is there anything you want to leave the readers of AllHipHop.com with?MC Ren: I just want to say for you all to look out for the RenIncarnated album. Check out my MySpace which is www.myspace.com/mcrenofficialmyspace. Check out my radio show every Wednesday night.

TODAY’S RUMORS!
IF YOU SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING!
Email your rumors to illseed at [email protected].
You know, if Barack Obama had lost, I was seriously planning to quit doing the rumors. AJ22 was the only person I shared this with. I didn’t post it, because I didn’t want to back myself in a corner and then change my mind. Anyway, he did win and so I am here.
SHAKIR STEWART REPLACEMENT?
As you know, there are rumors upon rumors surrounding who is going to replace the late Shakir Stewart. At the top of the list, Im hearing, is one Irv Gotti of Murder Inc. Now, I am not sure where Irv is right now, but I heard he has a contract that will expire in 2009. At that point, he will possibly make that move and bring some artists with him. Not sure what that would mean for Ja Rule and the crew. Also, if you remember, Irv was on the short list to move in and replace Jay, but Shakir got the job. R.I.P.
SUPERHEAD KEEPS PLAYING
Superhead continues to stretch that 15 minutes. The chick is pregnant or pretending to be pregnant. Either way people jump on everything. Shes on twitter and she has her icon has a lil mini pic of Bow Wows chest. What does this mean? Sign. Its a clue! She might be preggers by Bow Wow. OR it could be another Black dude that has script tatted on his chest. It does look like Bow Weezy though. Anyway, Karrine now locks her updates, but I dont so check me out in twitter. http://twitter.com/illseed
RIHANNA GETS SICK IN SIDNEY
My good pal Jacob sent me an email on Rihanna getting sick in Sidney. Here is what he said about the show word for word. Running off stage isnt good.
Hey,
Rhianna was sick at her concert in Sydney Australia. She did all of her set except the last song she was supposed to do with Chris brown, he came out, and she wasnt signing just holding her stomach then she ran off stage.
Her set was VERY average compared to Chris brown. He absolutely rocked the massive crowd and really performed. Rhianna sat down for like 3 songs and didnt sound that great, could barley hear a lot of her words.
Apparently ambulance and s### came in to look after her and check her out. Apparently it was from smoke inhalation, which doesnt, surprise me cause her stage was full of smoke and fireworks (indoors).
She did shows the next day with no problem.
Cheers from Australia.

CHARLAMAGNE TO GET HIS OWN SHOW?
Charlamagne might have been fired from his job last week, but I am hearing that he is already working on a new situation in radio. Hes already got something in South Carolina, but I heard there is something else even more provocative on the horizon. No disrespect to the Carolinians of the South.
I will be doing a specialty show with WXBT 100.1 ‘The Beat’ in Columbia, he told AllHipHop.com. “I can do that from up here and it will broadcast down there. Radio is like training, [you] have to stay on that bike to keep the conditioning up for when that big fight comes. I didn’t have a non-compete clause, so I am able to work immediately in New York. I’m just weighing out my options right now.
FIELD MOB IS WORKING
Field Mobs manager hit me up and gave me the scoop on what they are all working on! Here you go:
I wanted to confirm and clarify that rumor about The Field Mob album. Actually Smoke from Field Mob is working on a solo project. He has a solo deal with Sony through an independent named Empire Records out of AZ (DTP is still involved in the project). The album is shaping up to be CRAZY… Ken Jo is definitely the driving force musically behind the project with assistance from Jack Brown, and a possible single produced by Kanai Finch… As for Field Mob they are working on putting together a new project, also most of those tracks being done by Ken Jo, however, the solo project from Smoke seems to be coming first.
R.KELLY DIDNT DO IT!
The nephew of R. has reportedly been shot a couple days ago. The 15 year old could have been trying to rob somebody with his brother, police speculate. The owner of the store had a burner on him when they allegedly came in and he used it. Now others speculate that these young men were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time and got caught directly in the crossfire. R. Kellys relative was hit in the lung and liver. The boy is alive.
THE G-UNIT REPLACEMENT OR A HOAX?
I never heard of Lucky, but who am I? This guy has a new song and hes supposedly the Young Buck replacement for G-Unit. Check out the song, where he sends disses to the former G-Uniter.
POLICE GET TOO ROWDY AT LUPE CONCERT
DJ Maniac Magee hit me up and said that Lupe and his band killed it over the weekend at Florida State, kicking off homecoming week. The only thing is that I heard that the police got way brutal with one of Lupes fans and beat her up. One of the FSU police officers allegedly got way too rough with the very small female student. Nobody quite knows if she was talking back or something when he approached her, she didn’t deserve the treatment she got! By some others it was described as excessively brutal. Nobody really knows why the cop was in such a bad mood. Somebody said he might be still mad that McCain and Palin lost.
GILLIE EXPOSES DIRTY REK
Philly is about to get very hot. Gillie claims his rival is a kid toucher, not a shooter. Man, this is very bad.
SIGNS THE WORLD IS COMING TO AN END
Hey, we all know the lovefest had to get deferred at some point. A 17 year old Muslim kid was beaten with bats in Staten Island because he was either an Obama supporter or Muslim. All he heard was the word Obama before he was attacked on election night after O won.
I heard a man committed suicide after Obama was elected to send a message of opposition. LMAO. That is both a Sign and an epic failure.
EPIC FAIL OF THE DAY
Check this one out. The epic fail of the day is a series of fails all in one. Check it out, because there are some real gems in there. There is one vid where a dude gets hit by 2 cars. I am not saying thats good. I looked at it and couldnt tell if it was real or not. There are a couple really good sports fails too.
ILLSEEDS QUICKIES
Click here for the rumors of the weekend as delivered by Lady Drama.
There are more stupid people than intelligent people. I just want to say that as it pertains to life in general.
If anybody saw my question about Obama and Bush, you would know that I have professed support of Obama and the question addressed the Obama haters. How dumb can people be?
Lil Bow Wow had his sex scene on Entourage. Remember when that was just a rumor? I wish it had stayed a rumor.
Poor Murphy Lee. I heard he was down at Xavier University performing and it didnt go too good. I heard he did the song with Nelly, but he did all three parts. Good luck, dude.
REST IN PEACE: Johannesburg – South African singer Miriam Makeba has died at the age of 76 in Italy. Mama Afrika died of a heart attack. She will be missed.
ILL PICS
If you have kids, make sure they dont see this. Cheetah Girl Adrienne Bailon has some semi-nude pics running around the net! She dates Robert Kardashian and took these for him. Then her laptop got stolen. When it was returned, some private stuff was removed and this is it. For the raw pics, go to illseed.com. Thanks, Perez!
CHARLES HAMILTON FOLLOWS SONIC
Check this out…he is an interesting dude.
MIRIAM MAKEBA PATA PATA
Miriam Makeba sings her most famous song Pata Pata during a performance in the VARA TV-studios in Holland, 1979. Joining her on stage towards the end of the song is her granddaughter Zenzi. Zenzi’s mother (the late Bongi Makeba) is one of the backing vocalists (in the blue dress). For more, click here.
IT’S A NEW DAY
Shout out to Will..Am
Now, what are you all going to do to keep this “change” going? I know what I am going to do…the funny thing I was going to do it even if McCain won. We need to do stuff no no matter what, but it would have been even more important if he and Palin were in office. Peace.

Houstons 97.9 The Box (KBXX-FM) has recruited some of the biggest artists in the citys musical history to present fans with a one of a kind celebration of the citys contribution to Hip-Hop culture over the years.
The station, which is set to hold its annual Los Magnificos Custom Car Show & Concert on Sunday, November 23, will take advantage of the event to take a stance towards unity with a Best of Texas themed concert.
The historical show, which will also celebrate the states continuing musical legacy, will bring together every major Texas Hip-Hop act, achieving something that has yet to be offered to the fans: a day of unity and peace in Houstons Hip-Hop community.
Houston area artists are putting their differences aside to pay homage to the many musical contributions that have shaped the sound of southern Hip-Hop KBXX Program Director Terri Thomas told AllHipHop.com. The idea was to do the event that everyone always talked about but no one has ever pulled off. There has never been an event in Houston that unified the Hip-Hop community: Swisha House, Rap-A-Lot, Screwed Up Click all the major artists will be participating, plus some folks that were instrumental early on.
The confirmed line up of artists includes stars like Scarface, Chamillionaire, Bun B., Slim Thug and the Boss Hogg Outlaws, Trae Tha Truth, Z-Ro, Mike Jones, Paul Wall and Lil Flip.
The bill also leaves room for regional successes like Kiotti, Lil Keke, Chingo Bling, Big Tuck and Fat B, Big Pokey, and ESG, Texas artists who are spearheading the next surge of the Hip-Hop movement.
Also scheduled to perform are pioneers the Botany Boys and Street Military, as well as Wicket Crickett, Wino, Sex Fiends, GT, Mista Madd, Lil O, Quint Black, Fat Pimp, Lil Will, Damm D, and Trapstars.
This show with Houston’s finest is long overdue, exclaimed 97.9s veteran morning show host Madd Hatta, who has been an integral part of the citys music scene and will be one of the events MCs.
Houston artists have represented Hip-Hop for more than two decades, Madd Hatta noted. These artists have contributed to the world and created an economy in Houston unheard of in most cities. Bringing the pioneers together with the new generation of Hip-Hop and paying respect to these trailblazers at this time in history makes it even more relevant.
In addition to the performances, the Best of Texas show will take time out to recognize the contributions of the Screwed Up Click, Swisha House, Wreck Shop and Rap-A-Lot families and present the Geto Boys with a coveted Pioneer Award.
The Los Magnificos Custom Car Show and concert will be held at the Reliant Center in Houston on November 23 from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm.
Hey everybody! Hope all is well. Theres been a few Sundays where Ive stressed how I love a good ole duet, but have I mentioned how much I love a good ole remix too? Well I do, and the song I picked for this Sunday really caught me off guard the first time I heard it. Its one of those joints where you have to take a moment and ask yourself, “Is that !” And then you simply reply, “Wow.”I know some of you are exhausted with hearing T-Pain on every other song on the radio and seeing him in every other video on television. And between him and Lil Wayne, sometimes I wonder when the madness will stop! But anyway, this week for Sunday Selection Ive chosen “Cant Believe It (The Remix)” featuring T-Pain and Justin Timberlake. Yup, Justin Timberlake! I guess T-Pain decided to flip the script and swap out Lil Wayne with his label mate JT, just in time for the release of his new album. And I cant say Ive been all that keen on JT since the whole Nipplegate incident back in 2004, but slowly hes winning back my affection. Justin does his thing with T-Pain, and his guest appearance gives the song more longevity seeing it was almost time to put it in the recurrent category.I am so happy that T-Pains CD is finally coming out. And it’s not because Im one of his biggest fans, its so he can sit his ass down and we can forget about him for a little while. Ever since “Im Sprung” hit the airwaves back in 2005, hes been going strong; saturated all over the place. And that damn Auto-Tune has spread like wild fire and it’s time for someone to put it out. So many artists have adopted it it’s scary! And needless to say, a small break from it all would be good for T-Pain and all Hip-Hop and R&B fans. And speaking of that damn Auto-Tune at the end of the song T-Pain says, “Start signing those papers people. Auto-Tune is on its way out.” Does that mean what I think it does? I know some of you are shouting for joy. LOL… But now, Ive got a question to ask. Are you happy now? Happy to know that the King of Auto-Tune is saying that hes ready to put it to rest or do want it to stick around for a while longer. Let me know what you think. Thanks for checking what I had to say this week.Until next time yall enjoy this weeks Sunday Selection Cant You Believe It (The Remix)Can’t Believe It Remix w/ Justin Timberlake – T-PainPoll Answers
Less than 48 hours since his abrupt dismissal from WBLSs The Wendy Williams Experience, Charlamagne Tha God is preparing for his return to South Carolina radio, he revealed to AllHipHop.com exclusively today (November 8).
Charlamagne, who hosted his own show for six years on Columbia, South Carolina’s Hot 103.9 (WHXT-FM), will be back on airwaves in Columbia as early as next week.
Charlamagne joined The Wendy Williams Experience in March 2006, adding more spice to the controversial syndicated afternoon talk show.
He was terminated from his position as Wendy Williams co-host just minutes after the broadcast on Monday (November 3).
Citing budgetary constraints as the reason, WBLS also terminated the shows executive producer Tarin Donatien, talent booker and publicist Nicole Spence and production director Trev Hollywood.
But the relationship between the self-proclaimed Queen of All Media and her protégé remains strong.
In an on-air statement to fans on Thursday about his departure, Wendy expressed her support and assured fans that he would be okay.
Hes gone, hes not forgotten, she said. He is still part of la familia. That is still my boy. He still sleeps in the purple room when he comes to the house. We still drink our Patron on Friday nights.
In an email on Friday, Williams added, I was disappointed in their decision not to have him on the show but Im not worried about his ability to go on and do very well for himself.
As for their professional relationship, Charlamagne says that it actually continues to expand.
In addition to serving as consulting producer on Fox’s The Wendy Williams Show, which returns for a full run in July 2009, Charlamagne is preparing to release a new book through Wendys newly created publishing imprint.
I write for Ozone Magazine every month and I do various blogs on different websites including my sites www.stupiddopemoves.com and www.myspace.com/cthagod, so it just came to a point where everyone was telling me I should write a book. So I started to do just that and the book will be titled Socially Irresponsible.
The non-fiction tome, which Charlamagne describes as a candid compendium of politically incorrect views and potentially dangerous rhetoric, brings together spirituality and Hip-Hop culture to challenge the Hip-Hop community to be more responsible.
It is scheduled for release in the fall of 2009.
Too often, many individuals look in the mirror and see what is right, but are too afraid to see and admit what is wrong, explains the budding author. Im challenging the Hip-Hop community by pointing out the flaws in the reflections and demanding that those who know better should do better. If you read my articles in Ozone, you should know what to expect.
In the meantime, Charlamagne continues to utilize his independent label, Stupid Dope Moves, Inc., to bring attention to the burgeoning South Carolina movement.
His first project on the label, South Crack The Album has sold 12,000 units to date.
His next project is the release of a street album entitled Ratchet Music by the labels marquee artist, Lil Ru.
Week 10 started

AllHipHops NFL
Game of the Week
Sunday Night Football, 10/09/08, 8:30 pm
New York Giants (7-1)
at Philadelphia
Eagles (5-3)
Philadelphia, PA
My Pick: Giants
Offense: Giants are ranked
fifth, Eagles are ranked sixth. Defense: Giants are ranked third, Eagles are
ranked fifth. I dont know about you, but this is gonna be a great game. The
last time the Giants and Eagles faced off in Philly, the G-men just squeaked
by with the victory. Look for the same in this game.
Both teams have won
three of their last four games. Both the
offense and defense for each team have been playing smart ball, so this game
will come down to which team will make the first mistake.
While the Eagles
have the better QB in Donovan McNabb, Im still going with Eli manning
and the Giants. The Eagles have been playing great ball thus far this season,
but the Giants have been playing great ball since last season. Theyve carried
the momentum from last season in this season and havent stopped since.
The momentum and
consistency the Giants are carrying will continue in this game as they pad
their lead in the NFC.
Sunday, 11/09/08, 1pm games
Saints (4-4) at Atlanta
Falcons (5-3)
Atlanta, GA
My Pick: Atlanta
Lets be honest, who would have thought that the Falcons
were going to be this solid? Their
offense is ranked seventh in the NFL and their 16th ranked defense
isnt too bad either. Could this be the return of the Dirty Bird in A-T-L?
Well have to wait and see at the end of the year.
As well as the Saints offense is playing, their defense is
not that strong. With a defense thats ranked 24th in the NFL, Im
not seeing the Saints getting the win against the Falcons.
Tennessee Titans (7-0)
at Chicago Bears (5-3)
Field, Chicago, IL
My Pick: Titans
When QB Kyle Orton injured his ankle last week and Rex
Grossman came into the game, half of Chicago
jumped off the Michigan
Avenue Bridge. Did we forget that Grossman did lead that team to
in 2006?
Look, Im not a big fan of Mr. Grossmans play making
abilities either, but dont throw him under the bus just yet. Lets see what
happens in this game and make our judgment then.
Oh, they play the Titans this week. Never mind, this game is
over. Sorry Rex, too bad your first start for the season is against the NFLs
only undefeated team with a killer defense. Talk about your luck of the draw.
(3-5) at Detroit Lions (0-8)
My Pick: Jaguars
Lions, QB Dan Orlovsky is out this week with two
fractures and a torn ligament in his right thumb. Therefore, the Lions
went out this week and signed Daunte
Culpepper. It took the Lions to bring Daunte out of retirement.
Yet, its still the Lions and they still stink. Go with the Jags, trust me.
Seattle Seahawks (2-6)
at Miami
Dolphins (4-4)
My Pick: Dolphins
The Dolphins have are the better team in this match-up. They
have better defense and they move the ball well on offense. In addition,
theyre a healthy squad unlike the Seahawks.
Although Matt Hasselbeck and Deion Branch returned to
practice on Saturday, Hasselbeck will still sit out with a bad
back.
With injuries slowing down the Seahawks, the Dolphins look
like the safe pick.
Green Bay Packers (4-4) at Minnesota
Vikings (4-4)
Minneapolis, MN
My Pick: Vikings
The last time the Packers and the Vikings met, it was the
Monday Night opener. It was also Aaron Rodgers coming out party. Now were nine weeks removed from that night
and both teams are 4-4. The Vikes have
won three of their last four games and the Packers are 2-2 in their last four
games.
Both teams are practically even from an offensive
standpoint. The Vikes are ranked 13th in the league. Right behind the Vikes
are the Packers, who are ranked 14th in total offense. One clear advantage in this game is the defensive side of the ball. The Packers defense
is ranked 20th in the NFL, the Vikes defense is ranked 11th.
The other advantage is that the Vikes can run the ball on
offense and stop the run on defense. The Vikes have the second best rushing
defense in the league and the sixth best rushing offense. The Packers have had
issues running the ball this year, and that will be their Achilles heel in
this game.
Buffalo Bills (5-3)
at New England Patriots (5-3)
My Pick: Patriots
This is another game where both teams are pretty even. The Bills are ranked 10th in total
defense and 20th in total offense.
The Pats are ranked 18th in total offense and 14th
in total defense. So Im gonna chalk this win up to the team with the most experience.
The Bills are a good, young team that is experiencing much
success this season. The Pats, not only have the more experienced players, but also
the more experienced coach as well. Ill go with the safe bet in this game and
roll with the Pats.
Baltimore Ravens (5-3) at Houston Texans (3-5)
My Pick: Ravens
Because of Hurricane Ike, this game was pushed back to this
date. Therefore, this game was eight weeks in the making. The Ravens have the better defense in this game, and they
run the ball well. The Texans have an explosive offense, but the Ravens defense
is better. Youre better off taking the Ravens in this game.
St. Louis Rams (2-6) at New York Jets (5-3)
Stadium, East Rutherford, NJ
My Pick: Jets
The Jets are winning games. Theyre some ugly wins, but a
win is a win. Thankfully for the Jets, they are facing the Rams, who are
2-2 in their last four games.
The Rams may have a .500 record for the last four weeks, but
the team is still rebuilding and still struggling. The Jets defense is much
better than how they have performed for the past few weeks and the offensive
rushing attack has been solid.
With the Jets having the better defense in this game, and a
solid ground game, Ill have to roll with the Jets in this one.
4pm games
(6-2) at Oakland Raiders (2-6)
Coliseum, Oakland, CA
My Pick: Panthers
Sometimes as a pro-football fan, there are certain teams you
just want to see do well because of that teams history or mystique. For me,
its the Raiders. Ive always been intrigued with the mystique of the Raider
Nation. Despite their most recent track record of performance, their fans
remain loyal and I respect that.
Then you see them do something stupid like fire their head
coach in the middle of the season. Or better yet, release a
solid defensive player in the middle of the season, so that same said player,
can sign with another team and help them with their playoff push.
Then you realize that whoever is running the team is: a) the dumbest person on
the face of this earth, b) an old, senile man who still thinks this is the
1960s or 70s and tries to run the team in that fashion, or c) all of the above.
The funny thing is that the rest of you would answer C. Since
my answer is the same as yours, I hope the Raiders lose. They stink and the Panthers are the better team overall in this match-up. This
team will continue to lose on and off the field under the current ownership if
a change isnt made soon.
(1-7) at San Diego Chargers (3-5)
Qualcomm Stadium, San Diego, CA
My Pick: Chargers
The Chiefs fell out of the market in trying to sign Daunte
Culpepper, so its back to Ty Thigpen running the offense on the field. The
Chargers record maybe 3-5, but they have the Chiefs this weekend. Similar to
the Raiders, Lions and Rams before them, the Chiefs stink as well.
This should be an easy win for the Chargers. Anything under
a 10 point win is not acceptable. The Chargers will win by an Obama. That means theyll win by a landslide.
(4-4) at Pittsburgh Steelers
(6-2)
My Pick: Steelers
See, this is the problem with the Thursday Night game and
making your picks, once you make them in the Pickem League, theyre locked in.
See my original pick for this game was the Steelers. That was until news came
out on Friday that RB Willie Parker
was out and Big Ben Roethlisberger
is questionable for this Sundays game. Now I gotta pick the Colts for this
game, right?
Not so fast my friend. While the Steelers offense is ranked lower than the Colts, they still have the best defense in the league. Offense brings in fans,
defense wins games and championships. Im going to roll with the Steelers
defense for the win.
Monday Night Football, 11/03/08, 8:30pm
(2-6) at Arizona Cardinals
(5-3)
Phoenix Stadium, Glendale, AZ
My Pick: Cardinals
The entire Monday Night Football Crew is probably asking
themselves, Lord, what did we do wrong to deserve such a punishment? This is
not going to be a pretty game on the field which will make this game hard to
watch. As many of you already know, Im a 49er fan through thick and thin and
this weeks game is definitely the thin.
The Cards have been playing good football, and they can pad
their lead in the NFC West with a win in this game. The 49ers are still a team
in trouble despite the motivational
techniques of head coach Mike Singletary.
The 49ers defense is still underachieving and they still can
not move the ball on offense. QB Shaun Hill will get start for the 49ers this
Monday Night. Hopefully they can make something happen on offense. I still
dont think thats enough for this team to win against a solid Cards offense,
with a revived Kurt Warner running the offense on the field.
As much as I want my beloved 49ers to prove me wrong, its
not going to happen. The Cards are the safe bet.

TODAY’S RUMORS!
IF YOU SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING!
Email your rumors to illseed at [email protected].
Also, posed a very important question about Barack Obama as it relates to G.W. Bush. Click here. It is a very simple question.
ROY JONES VS JOE CALZAGHE
Tonight is going to be the big fight. I cant wait! While I think Joe Calzaghe is one of the most talented boxers out, I really want to see Roy Jones, Jr. pull this one out. Roy has been the best and taken tremendous falls in his career. I want to see him exit on a high note. On the flip side, Joe isnt a spring chicken either so, if HE wins, he plans to retire.
We interviewed both men.
I predict the fighter with the more comments wins! Lol!
LADY DRAMA BRINGS THE RUMORS TO THE WEEKEND!
Lets Recap.. MTV EURO AWARDS went down! And Kanye’s New Video…
Estelle and Kanye American Boy
Kanye West Love Lockdown
Check out performances from Kanye and Estelle who seemed to rip it up, although I could do without Kanyes out of tune high pitched voice lol! Other than that the show looked good! Beyonce also performed but I’m tired of her right about now and her imaginary friend Sasha LOL! But Illseed would be happy to know Kelly’s Back (“Lord, yes!)” says illseed!):
And looking better than ever if you ask me! and Kanye‘s new vid heartless is out:
Now that that’s out the way… Thriller goes to Broadway:
MJ‘s all time greatest single (at least in my opinion) Thriller will be hitting the stage in the US and UK. The Thriller concept will be used to produce two separate productions directed by Broadway guru Jimmy Nederlander. The musical is looking for someone to play Michael and the description for the part goes a little something like this:
Looking for a young black, African-American or dual heritage boy aged 11 to 15 with an excellent unbroken pop/rock voice with a high range, who is exciting, confident and energetic.
Open auditions take place on November 23 at the Lyric Theatre, where singers will be asked to sing either Ben, I Want You Back, or Ill Be There.
Now while the musical may not hit the big stage until a couple more years I hear the UK may be ready to bring the production to life as early as January of 09! This could be pretty interesting. Too bad Sony owns all the rights though 🙁
Janet no Pain no gain… Unless you gain weight and lose your book deal…
Poor Janet’s career seems to be down the shi**er! Not only has her tour been a total bust but she has also lost a Diet Book Deal with a publishing company due to the fact that she has packed on some pounds 🙁 My fav publication the Natl Enquirer (yes folks I did say my favorite) is reporting that the publishing company has postponed the book indefinitely and that it was a mutual decision! This seems to be becoming a trend for Janet… Every time something bad happens in her career its a mutual decision… She gets dropped from her label (mutual decision) she gets dropped from her book deal (mutual decision) She decides to DO Jermaine Dupri… Well maybe not everything…
Snaps to the Kids.. happy Belated B-Day to Diddy… and Cassie and Lauren get Back to Work!
Diddy brought in his B Day with a birthday celebration and an Election party all in one at NYC‘s infamous Mansion nightclub! And while Diddy partied the night away his bust it baby Cassie does her modeling thing with my girl Lauren London in the New Sean John Women’s Ads…
At least Cassie is good at something and its a great way to stay on the payroll if I might add!
Lady Dramas Food for Thought:
Is anyone else feeling offended by Obamas face being plastered over every club flyer this weekend? Why must we always have a re-course of hustlenomics 24/7? Anything to make a profit LOL
If Carmelo can cut his braids for Obama why cant everyone else? I’m all about waves for the babes!
Another happy Birthday to Diddy although Im convinced he’s been a part of the 30 club for way too long? I’m just sayin…
I hear Kelly Rowland is dating some Billionaire… Finally she makes a career move that will hold her spot in the game! I knew she had something underneath all that hair 🙂
I’m out guys! Have a great weekend.. I think we all deserve it! Love me or leave me alone!

Artist: Jamie Jones
Location: DMV area
(Washington D.C., Maryland, Virginia) by way of High Point, North Carolina.
Influences: Cindy
Lauper, Whitney Houston, Madonna, Pink, India Arie, Mariah Carey.
Why You Should Know Jamie Jones:
In 2000, when BET’s 106 & Park countdown debut, it seemed as if the show would
mainly serve as a platform for celebrities. We see now that it actually does
the same for up-coming artists, longing for a moment in the limelight. The
shows Wild ‘n’ Out Wednesday and Freestyle
Friday segments have opened the door for
many unsigned artists to showcase their talents and connect with music industry
insiders.
A young lady won the 106 & Park Wild Out Wednesday [W.O.W] All-Star final and performed at Blaze the Stage. As a twice a year showcase,
Blaze the Stage features the most popular unsigned R&B acts, Hip-Hop acts,
and Dance teams, who have competed in the W.O.W. competition.
Her name is Jamie Jones; an R&B/ Pop/Rock songstress/songwriter,
and a native of High Point, North Carolina, which also happens to be the
hometown of Fantasia Barrino. Jamie hooked up with her management team while in
high school and since then has shared the stage with a few well-known artists.
She also has worked with an array of producers from Hip Hop icon Kwamé to
Precision and other newcomers in the production world.
Though she is still rather young at 20, Jaime has much
respect and admiration for old school R&B, which can be seen as she put her
own twist on the Stylistics classic hit You Make Me Feel Brand New. At the
same time, she deems herself as an 80s baby, which is easily reflected in her
music.
For most of Jamies life, she knew that she was headed
towards music, but high school is where she really started to take it
seriously. As she looks back on her years in school, she remembers how all of
her elective classes had to do with the arts. She was in piano and in chorus
since the third grade.
Her first solo really set it off and after that she was so
hungry to get back on the stage. She was eager to be in the spotlight and sing
in front of a lot of people; now she wanted to take it further.
Sometimes all it takes is a little bit of luck, and in this
scenario, Jamie would agree. While in high school, a teacher heard through her
peers that she could sing and dance. He approached her one day in the hallway
and he explained to her that his brother manages artists.
It wasnt too long before Jamie and her parents made a trek
to Maryland to have a meeting. Since then, theyve been working diligently
making moves on the music front. On weekends while still in school, she
traveled north, so she could record. After graduating, it was obvious that it
was time for Jamie to make the move that would help further her career.
I moved up here [DC] because the studio is up here. I
work with Reginald Rainey of X-Posure Entertainment, my management company. So
hes up here, the studios and the producers that I work with are here. It was a
move I had to make in order to get the project going, says Jamie.
Jamies new found fame has many people that she went to high
school with hitting her up on MySpace, Facebook and calling her phone non-stop,
but of course its all warranted. Besides her old buddies, there are also
people interested in the movement that her song Whatever has created. The
track, which she performed on 106 & Park, speaks about her bi-racial background, as she often refers to herself
as a mutt.
The mutt thing actually started because of my mom
she always called herself a mutt. So me being young and hearing her say it,
thats my mom, she’s a mutt and I’m a mutt too! I kind of embraced it; she
doesn’t really know her background and I dont either. I have to embrace it, I
am who I am Im Black, Im white, what if Im Asian? I used it as a
good thing, for anyone else out there that is of mixed race, its okay. Don’t
feed into the gossip or the negative energy. Just be you!
So as of late, shes been in talks to open up for more
artists such as Rihanna, among others. Jamies just happy that so many shows
are forthcoming and shes in demand from New York to Los Angeles for a variety
of events.
She has visited a couple of major labels, but of course
couldnt give up too much information just yet. Constantly praying that her
dreams will come true, the rising star claims that hopefully 2009 will be her
year. In the meantime, Jamie is keeping busy recently stepping in the studio
with super producer Swizz Beatz and the two created her next single Ayo.
We went over there for a visit, met everybody and we
just thought it would be a good idea to get Swizz on a couple of records. He
heard my songs, understood the direction of my music and was all for it. He
even wanted to do a treatment to one of the songs that I have. Working with
him, he was wonderful; he was so humble and gave me a lot of insight on the
industry. It was definitely a good experience being around him, she says.
Now that Jamie is doing more performances and recording,
shes learning about her edgy side as an artist whos not afraid to take risks
and loves challenges.
I’m going to bring a different energy, since Im so inspired
by the 80s. I’m going to try to fuse the 80s rock with R&B. I want to
become a crossover artist thats not afraid to take that edge and just try to
put it in peoples faces. I wasn’t born with a silver spoon in my mouth. I came
from learning that I have to work hard in this world, and I’m determined and
disciplined. So I just want all of that to come out in my music and I want
young girls to relate to me. I’m just hoping that I can really make a mark.
The burgeoning singer has so much that she is ready for
everyone to see, that is why the one word she chose that could define her is
multifaceted. There are many aspects of her as a person and as an artist, she
claims. She is hoping that it comes across in her music, through interviews and
when she is on TV.
Jamie wants her fans to see her personality, talent, and
understand Jamie Jones, the artist and person.
Realizing that she has a long road ahead of her, she is already prepping for
everything that comes along with stardom.
You have to stay focused and you have to stay hungry. I
haven’t made it yet; Im nowhere close to where I want to be. I’m still pushing
and trying to stay on my path. There are so many things that can take you off
that path; you have to want it so bad. There’s a reason why only a hand full of
people make it in this industry, you have to be willing to sacrifice a lot and
bust your butt to get it.

New Houston Rockets forward Ron Artest has partnered with DJ Drama to release the latest edition in the long-running Gangsta Grillz mixtape series.
Entitled World Wide Warier Presents King of Queens, the next installment features a collection of songs and freestyles from Artest himself, and up and coming artists from his Tru Warier record label, including Challace, MR QB, Foul Monday, and D. Artest.
Previously, Artest worked with Sean Diddy Combs, Juvenile, Nature, and Capone of CNN on his 2006 debut My World. Two years later, Artest feels the new Gangsta Grillz collaboration will show his growth as an artist and CEO.
Team Tru Warier and DJ Drama have created a beast of a mixtape, Artest told AllHipHop.com. Ron Artest is still acclimating to his new Rockets team after an August 14 trade from the Sacramento Kings. Despite the new environment, the former all-star and defensive specialist dismissed any questions of his focus and remains confident that hell be able to juggle his music endeavors and the goal of winning an NBA championship.
Im with a new and exciting team playing alongside great talents like Tracy McGrady and Yao Ming. Im ready to go hard and bring the title home to the Rockets, Artest explained to AllHipHop.com. So, you already know how hard I work on the basketball court and I will continue to work as hard and even harder in the music field.
The new mixtape is available now for download.
Review of Hip Hop for the week including Shakir Stewart (RIP) and Barack Obama.
It is often said that styles make fights in boxing. On Saturday November 8, when Roy Jones meets with Joe Calzaghe, we will see an excercise in contrast. While both fighters posses the requisite skill and stubborn ego necessary to survive and flourish on a championship level, you see immediately that that’s where the comparison ends. While confident in his own legacy Calzaghe is nowhere near a peacock or high porfile. he has silently amassed 15 years worth of victories which has place him in the company of boxing immortals. His 45-0 record is four victories shy of the 49-0 Rocky Marciano standard; he is also closing in on the Brown Bomber’s string of 25 successful title defenses.AllHipHop got with Calzaghe in the days leading up to his showdown with Roy Jones. He got straight to the point.
AllHipHop: Youve taken a lot
of criticism for this fight, with people calling Jones a past prime legend.
However, people seem to forget you defeated two young, highly touted undefeated
champions in Jeff Lacy and Mikkel Kessler. Do you think those wins wont get
the credit they deserve unless those two go on to post great wins, like Hopkins
just did against Pavlik?
Joe Calzaghe: All I can do is beat the opponents that are
put in front of me. I am proud of my career and I think those wins speak for
themselves.
AllHipHop: Youve on record said that Roy Jones
was shot after his back to back KO losses and subsequent performances. What did
you see from him that made you change your mind and take this bout?
Joe Calzaghe: He has had three excellent fights to put him
back in position for this bout. After those disappointments, I kept
watching and saw that he was back to fighting at a top level. He
is still a legendary champion who I am looking forward to fighting
Saturday night.
AllHipHop: Your last handful of bouts has silenced a
lot of critics who questioned your ability and legacy, but that did not happen
until 2006. What fights do you wish you wouldnt have missed out on in your
younger years?
Joe
Calzaghe: I cant look back
on my career and I believe things happen for a reason. Sometimes I do wish
I could have fought Jones before, but it is finally here. I am
excited and look forward to the fight.
AllHipHop.com: Some fans seem to think youve had an easy
run throughout your 15 year career. Who were your most difficult opponents and
why?
Joe Calzaghe: All fights are battles but I am most
proud of my victories over Eubanks, Lacy, Kessler and Hopkins. They were
all hard fights and big challenges for me, and I came out victorious which
obviously makes me feel great.
AllHipHop: Youve been emphatic that this is your last
bout. Assuming you are again victorious, what further involvement do you see
for yourself, if any, in boxing world after retirement?
Joe Calzaghe: First I am going on vacation and will spend
time with my family. Then I will stay around boxing as a promoter as I
already am working with some young fighters that train in our gym back home. I
am looking forward to life out of the ring and will figure it out as it
comes.
AllHipHop: What are the most
difficult things youll have to deal with from this version of Roy Jones?
I have prepared
and am ready for his speed. I have trained hard and can adjust to
anything that comes my way on fight night. I will see when the fight
starts what I will need to do to come away with a victory. I can adapt to
anything and I refuse to lose. That is motivation enough to be able to
handle whatever Roy brings into the ring.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has revealed details to AllHipHop.com about the arrest warrant for rapper/actor Mos Def.
According to Public Information Officer Ramon Denby, two warrants were issued for the rappers arrest on Tuesday (November 4) in regards to an August incident.
The warrants were issued by the Clark County District Attorneys office, which seeks to prosecute Mos, born Dante Smith, on one count of felony robbery and one count of malicious destruction of private property.
As previously reported, the charges stem from an August 26 altercation between Mos Def and Volker Corell, a credentialed photographer hired by the Mens Apparel and Garment Industry Convention, better known as MAGIC.
The initial report was taken by the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, Officer Denby told AllHipHop.com. By the time we arrived, the property, which in this case was a Nikon camera, had been returned. Detectives then took statements from witnesses and spoke to the victim and proceeded to gather the necessary evidence to turn the case over to the District Attorneys office.
As for the apparent delay between the date of the alleged incident and the issuance of the warrants, Denby stated that the process was routine in investigations.
We have to have a certain amount of evidence to present a case to the D.A.s office, who then makes the determination to move forward, Denby explained. This was just a standard investigating time.
The LVMPD is currently awaiting contact from Mos and his attorneys to arrange a self surrender.
Mos Def currently has five films scheduled for release between now and 2010, including Decembers Cadillac Records in which he will appear as Chuck Berry alongside Beyonces portrayal of Etta James.
The Brooklyn rapper, who is as equally an accomplished actor as he is an artist and musician, is also slated to appear in the film adaptation of Iceberg Slims Mama Black Widow.
He will join an all-star cast including Rihanna, Macy Gray, Kerry Washington, Angela Bassett, and Anthony Anderson.
Fans of Royce Da 59 are one step closer to receiving his next studio album.
The highly anticipated Street Hop will be delivered in early 2009 via his M.I.C. Records imprint, through a new deal with One Records, the Detroit rapper has announced.
“One Records is proud to be in business with Royce, said the labels owner, Hanley Halem. He is an amazing talent and we feel that he has yet to reach his peak as an artist. Street Hop is a breath of fresh air, at a time when the industry really needs it and we are anxiously looking forward to releasing it.”
The latest Royce Da 59 release will be his fourth since unproductive deals with both Tommy Boy Records and Columbia Records led to the independent release of his 2002 debut Rock City (Version 2.0).
The new album will be executive produced by DJ Premier, who provided Royce with Boom, the underground hit single from Rock City.
Additional production on Street Hop will come courtesy of Nottz, Green Lantern, Carlos Broady, Ski, Kay Gee, Emile, and of course Premier.
The album will also feature guest appearances by Bun B, Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz and Crooked I, to name a few.
No word on whether the buzz worthy single The Slaughter House featuring Royce, Budden, Ortiz and Crooked I will make the album.
“I’m happy about my new partnership between M.I.C and One Records, because it’s time to ignite the streets, Royce told AllHipHop.com in a statement. This album will definitely show the world why I’m the one to watch right now. I’m ready to show all these other rappers just how wack they really are.”
The Detroit underground king will remain active in the months leading up to the first quarter release of Street Hop.
On November 12, he will embark on a tour with D-12 and Joe Budden during which he will be promoting his recently released Bar Exam 2 and previewing tracks from Street Hop.
Royce is also readying the release of a video for the albums first single, Shake This, produced by DJ Premier.
The video will be directed by Rik Cordero, who recently directed clips by Nas, Q-Tip, Jadakiss, and Ace Hood, to name a few.
Codero will also create the visual for Royces follow up single Part of Me, which was produced by Carlos Broady.

TODAY’S RUMORS!
THANKS, WORLD!
I just want to thank everybody all over for sending me their papers and magazines! I love it! I love talking to all my people from around the world. If you have any rumors, please hit me at [email protected]. Remember, if you see something, say something! No rumor is too small!
CTE RAPPER IN ACCIDENT?
CTE Rapper Boo Da Boss Player aka Boo was in a horrible car accident that broke two bones in his back and one of his arms, I am being told. I heard that he was driving from his home town of Canton, MS to Atlanta and got in a very bad car accident. Get better!
FIELD MOB REUNION?!
Fans of Hip-Hop! I have an announcement to make! Field Mob has decided to put aside their differences and reunite, from my sources. They have reportedly recorded a number of songs together and will probably start putting them out soon. If you look hard on the net, you can find their new stuff, I am told. I havent yet found it, but I am going to start looking as soon as you see todays rumors. Also Kenjo is the man behind the beats, as he usually is when Field Mob decides to get it together. I wonder DTP?
WAS SHAKIR STEWARTS DEATH SHADY?
I will be the first to admit, I didnt want to break this rumor even though I had been hearing it from the jump. Recent industry chatter reinforced what I had been hearing. Now, the leaks are all over the place. People are suggesting that it may be possible that Shakir was somehow affiliated with an ATL street gang and that lead to his untimely demise. Now, there is no evidence supporting that at all. In fact, no foul play has been inferred either only suicide. But, the streets are talking. It has been stated that he had been forced to borrow a lot of money from people that might want to collect in creative ways, if you catch my drift. Also, they said that he wasnt very happy and worked endlessly. The one thing that continues to stick out is that Shakir;s behavior had changed radically in the weeks leading up to his death. We have about 12 weeks to wait for autopsy reports.
MY BOY GOT LET GO?! WENDY WILLIAMS WHOA!
Wendy Williams and Charlamagne Tha God they are like my rumor family. They get it gully. Now, as told by Lady Drama, radio station WBLS has fired C tha G! Wendy released a statement on the air and they are saying that the financial crisis has forced them to cut staff. Its real in the field everybody. TRUST. C has been down with Wendy for a few years now. “They say unemployment has surges higher now than it has in the last 25 years, shoppers have turned frugal, the economy is sinking. The credit problem, financial stresses and everybody is suffering, me, you and everybody. I just want to be honest with you all as honest as I possibly can be….This is not the end of the changes that are happening here.” That last statement is highly suggestive that Wendy may be off the air completely, as Drama stated. I heard that the whole Wendy team was let go. Damn. Charlamagne is a cool cat, who never ceases to amaze with his candid talk.
XM / SIRIUS MERGER = JOBS LOST
I have some information for you all. You know Sirius and XM satellite radio stations are merging. Well, here is the deal. Several Hip-Hop and R&B shows will be lost. These station channels are about to become a part of the Shade45 family. Some of the other XM stuff will be converted into Hip-Hop Nation. The whole mess will get some people gone and other working with strangers.

LOL OPRAH USES PORT-A-P####
How funny is this? Oprah Winfrey the QUEEN had to use a port-a-p#### at the celebration for Barack Obama on Tues. She had never used a portable toilet before that and decided to just use the damn thing, rather than miss Baracks ceremony. Oprah hopes that Barack will stay in touch.
I just hope Michelle is cool:
Also, the word on the street is that Oprah is giving refuge to Jennifer Hudson in her time of mourning. O is letting the actress stay at her luxury Chicago condo. I know she would be singing at the inaugural. Hopefully she can transition by that time.
KATT WILLIAMS ARRESTED!!!!
Katt Willams was supposed to be doing a show at Carnagie Hall, but I dont think thats going to happen. I got word last night from a very reliable source that Katt was arrested last night on felony gun charges. Not only the comedian. About five other people from his camp where also arrested including his security, from what I am getting. Believe it or not, I am hearing that, Katt was at Jim Jones’ studio when it all took place, and they called the dog out on him literally. I dont know if he is going to get out in time for his highly anticipated show. From what I hear, they called Bomb Squad, extra units, narcotics and whatever on the man. I dont know what he did to constitute all that. There was a swarm of armed uniformed officers, sources say. I wonder what Jim did?
JIM JONES HAS ANOTHER HIT!
I know its been a minute since We Fly, but Jim Jones has got another hit it would seem. Check out Jim Jones Pop Champagne with Ron Browz and Juelz Santana. I am not in error, this started out as Rons song. Hes so generous, but I am sure he saw the longterm benefits of the collaboration.
ILLSEEDS QUICKIES
Keri Hilson has been pushed back to the year 2009. Beyonce is always messing people up when they want to come out.
Mak from the IC still around? Tell him I’m still listening to his American Gangster remixes! Whew!
Speaking of, Beyonce has offered her services at the 2009 inaugural celebration. Yeah, me too.
Danity Kane will not do another season of Making The Band with Diddy. They are made, unmade and probably will make up.
Kelly Rowland has reportedly moved all the way to the UK for good. I think she needs to come back home.
For all you people mad that Barack got elected, Palin didnt know that Africa was a continent. S-M-H. Also, the GOP went and got those $150k in clothing from Palin. LMAO.
Tweet from Next is NOT a rapper and has no beefs to mention. Stay tuned – or not.
Girls Next Door star Kendra Wilkinson is engaged to Hank Baskett, a player with the Philly Eagles. I cant give him a pass though. Dude is got sloppy thirds and fourths! Its crazy! More below with Shelz!

RANDOM QUOTES
Joe The Fake Plumber smartens up:
“Hey, the American people spoke. They elected Barack Obama as our president and our new Commander in Chief, and Im behind that 100 percent.
David Letterman went in on Bush and McCain. Of Bush as it relates to Obama, the late night talker said:
“I think I speak for most Americans when I say, anybody mind if [Obama] starts a little early? Would that be a problem?”
Of McCain, he said:
“I would like to say one thing to John McCain. Listen, Senator: you don’t show up for me, America doesn’t show up for you.”
Ouch! Remember, McCain lied to Letterman. Said he couldnt do the show, but got caught doing an interview with another show.
KANYE WESTS NEW VIDEO HEARTLESS
REH DOG IS AN IDIOT.
Why are we talking about Reh Dog? This dude is the wackest wack job EVER.
Obama is not my president. Im shocked by the amount of ignorant Americans out there. Its the end of the United States of America as we know it. I wish I could go into hibernation for 4 years. To say I dislike this Marxist would not be too strong. To say Im ashamed to be black would not be too strong. In 4 years I will be saying you made your beds Americans now die in it. Israel will now have no other choice but to start a war with Iran because Obama will not help them and it has to be done before President Bush leaves office. To call him the anti-Christ would not be too far off base. Im literally sick to my stomach.
So many Americans want to sit back and let the Government take care of them instead of working hard for what they want. No wonder so many Americans have no self esteem, lazy, fat, and out of shape. I bow my head in shame. I shake my fist with disgust. But so it is written and God words are coming to pass. So many people are lost sheeps and cannot think independently. Im a leader and know that this man child is wrong for American capitalist society. If so many of you love socialism why dont you get the hell out and live in Europe? Rev. Wright is indeed correct in saying Americans chickens are coming home to roost. Because in 4 years we will pay for electing Obama as your president not mines.
Reh Dogg
Now we know why hes crying. Please let me remind you this is the man doing the talking here:

SHELZ TELLS THE TRUTH:
Soulja Boy Says He Didn’t Mean It
We all knew he would have to address it sooner or later; and he did. The below quote was respectfully jacked from Streetcred.
“Man basically what happened that day, I was at BET filming the last episode of Rap City and then the Touré dude asked me if I wanted to do an interview with him and I said no. I had seen the interview with Bow Wow and Omarion and he was like roasting them or whatever and it turned out to be bad. I was like, I’m straight, I don’t want to do an interview with you. Then, my management was like if he’s good we can do an interview with him…for promotion or whatever…I was just joking. Most of the questions he was asking me wasn’t making no sense. Like, he was asking me how I wanted to die and asking me all these questions so I thought he was joking with me. I didn’t really take it seriously. Basically it was sarcasm that got blown out of proportion.”
Hindsight is well, y’all know what it is. I’m curious though. Am I the only one who has a hard time believing SB’s wit and sarcasm is so crafty it snuck past Toure?
Saksgate? Africagate? North Americagate? Half-nakedgate? Damn Sarah.
It’s being reported that the GOP is sending a lawyer to Alaska to catalogue and retrieve the $150,000 worth of clothing Palin bought during her short contribution to the McCain ticket. The Republican Party has suggested that much of the clothing was purchased on the personal credit cards of campaign staffers. Oh and someone else from the GOP said Palin didn’t realize Africa was a continent. She thought it was a country with two separate sides; Africa and South Africa. The GOP even suggested Mrs. Palin couldn’t name the countries that comprised North America. Then there was talk about her greeting the staffers one morning in her hotel room wearing nothing but a towel. I’m thinking the Repubs are going to donate Palin to the Scapegoat Hall of Shame. Maybe that was her purpose from jump.
Hank Baskett and Kendra Wilkenson Engaged? DeAngelo Hall Unemployed?
He’s a Philadelphia Eagle. She’s one of Hugh Hefner’s cast aways from The Girls Next Door. And they are getting married. Ummm ok. Congrats. Oh and the Raiders waived DeAngelo Hall. Maybe the Falcons will take him back.
There will be a public memorial for Shakir Stewart on today at Kings Chapel on the campus of Morehouse College. For anyone in Atlanta who would like to attend, the service starts at 3pm. However, the school is requesting you try to get there an hour early. The family has also requested donations to the Stewart children in lieu of flowers via The Shakir Stewart Memorial Fund.
Well folks . Fridays seem to creep around, but the weekend is gone in a blink. There is much to grieve, but more to celebrate. Find the balance and I’ll catch ya next week.
THE OBAMA MOMENT
Hip-Hop doesnt mean we all agree. Some of my readers are LIVID that Obama is the president. I remember feeling that way a few years ago when Bush stole the election. Four years later we have redemption in the form of progression! So, I wanted you to know that Obama has already made plans to meeting with leaders of business, government and academia. This meeting will include Delawares own Vice President-elect Joe Biden, former Cabinet officials, executives from Xerox Corp., Time Warner Inc., Google Inc. and the Hyatt hotel company. Investor Warren Buffett (yeah, that super richest dude guy) will also help solve Americas woes. All you haters, look at McCains economic strategy and hollerate. We dont have to agree, but we have to do better.
On that note…PEACE!

“When I Grow Up”
“Goblin”
In today’s####-or-miss Hip-Hop landscape, most rappers can’t afford risk-taking or lengthy departures from their prevailing formulaic forte. Detroit-reared indie beatsmith Black Milk isn’t too concerned with staying in one lane with his raw sonic signature having more layers than Kwame Kilpatrick has court cases. Establishing his trademark for an impressive laundry list, producing gutter anthems for cats like GZA, Busta Rhymes and Pharoahe Monch, Black Milk has significantly grown as both producer and lyricist from his days in the trio BR Gunna. After his soul-filled 2007 release Popular Demand, he has taken things a step further with his latest offering Tronic, via Fat Beats Records.Employing features like rising YouTube star Colin Munroe and legendary DJ Premier, Black Milk proves he can incorporate any style to his versatile creations that coined nearly all of elZhi’s The Preface and much of Slum Village’s Detroit Deli (A Taste of Detroit). Whether it’s east coast, west coast or dirty south, Black Milk has no trouble adding his own flare to anything. Nevertheless, what he really wants is to use his rhythms and drum patterns to boost the 313, becoming not just a forerunner for Motor City Hip-Hop, but Hip-Hop, period. AllHipHop.com: In BR Gunna with Fat Ray he was usually one of the most vocal MC’s when you were together. How is it now that you are the primary lyricist shifting the light on yourself along with being the producer? Black Milk: Even though we went our separate ways on the BR Gunna thing, Ray and I always stay in contact with each other. We’re cool, that’s my family, and whatever Ray needs I got him, whether it’s beats or whatever. That’s neither here nor there, I have got to do my thing so I can get my entrance into the game. I felt like that BR Gunna thing wasn’t really working out, we need to try something new. If the solo thing wouldn’t have worked out, I would’ve tried something new, I would have tried to go a different avenue. So far, the solo thing has been cool, so far, things have been working out pretty good. But definitely, I’m going to go back and reach out and work with artists I was working with in the beginning trying to get them as much exposure as I get right now. That’s my mindset.AllHipHop.com: On your latest album, Tronic, what’s different about this album than your previous work?Black Milk: I feel like Tronic is my best work yet out of all the projects I have put out over the past couple of years. It’s just a whole new direction from all of those projects. It’s like all those sounds on those projects all into one album but with a new twist to it. Its a futuristic twist but still has the soul, and grimy drum beats. With the new sound the production has stepped up, rhymes stepped up, I’m actually a little more personal on this album letting people know how I feel about what’s going on in the music industry. How I feel about what is going on in my life in general as a whole. I still have my up-tempo tracks, crazy soul tracks, it’s just a variety of different music on one album and the album is still solid, everything is cohesive. I tried to stay away from the soul chops and soul loops because Popular Demand was so soul heavy. With this new one, I wanted to take a different approach and use a different formula, with the beats, song concepts and with the beats and tempo, all of that. I only have one song thats a soul chop on this album and basically, everything else is a futuristic, synth-heavy, bounce rhythm to the tracks. It is real musical, I used a lot of instrumentation for this album. Give The Drummer Sum – Black MilkAllHipHop.com: You have often said you are a producer first and MC second. Why is this when your lyrical skills have advanced just as much as the production? Black Milk: That’s just saying I have more of a love for producing and making the music side of it instead of the MC side of it. If I had to pick between the two I would have to pick the production side and producing other artists. One of the main reasons I rhyme is because I can, I do it well, I got to let people know. I’d be stupid to hold that back. But another reason is it gives me a chance to perform and travel, go to different cities and countries and do shows for people and actually hear my s**t bang in the club and see people wild out to it. AllHipHop.com: How do you feel you have grown overall as an artist on Tronic? Black Milk: The way I listen to music now is totally different than the way I listen to music two or three years ago and when I was doing beats then. I guess you could say I’m somewhat of a perfectionist when I create music nowadays, because I try to make everything as perfect as I can. Back then, I probably just threw a track together and it was dope, then I’m going to rhyme on it and let it go whether it has imperfections in the track or not. Now I listen to everything. With this one I would be making a beat, leave it alone, come back to it two or three hours later and if the beat doesnt sound crazy to me in the first two to four bars while I’m playing it, I will erase it. That was my creative process for this album, like it had to be undeniable or I wasn’t using it.AllHipHop.com: How did a track like “The Matrix” come together with Pharaohe Monch, Sean Price and DJ Premier?Black Milk: That was dope, it’s always good to have a lyricist of Pharoahe Monch’s stature, and everybody respects Pharoahe. He is on the list of one of the dopest MC’s to ever do it. I knew before I even went in to record the new album, I wanted Pharoahe to be a part of it and be on one of the songs. I hit him up and told him we needed him on the album and I got a track and sent it out to him and he did his thing and killed it. I got Sean Price on it and he killed it. And at the last minute we got DJ Premier on the hook for the cuts and scratches, I sent it out to him and he got back to me a day later and asked me what the title of the track is. At first, I wasn’t going to tell him, because I just wanted him to put some cuts and scratches on it. Then I decided to tell him, “Yo, it’s called The Matrix.” The very next day he sent the track back to me. S*** was crazy how he found the Jay-Z sample saying the matrix on it and found it in that short amount of time and killed that hook for me. He sent it back to me a classic Hip-Hop record. The Matrix (Ft. Pharoahe Monch, Sean Price, & DJ Premier) – Black MilkAllHipHop.com: The chemistry on “Losing Out” with Royce Da 5’9” is definitely one of the craziest on the album. How did that track come together? Do you really feel like people are losing out on Detroit?Black Milk: No, I wouldn’t say that people are losing out. That really wasn’t the concept of the song, like if you’re not listening to my music or if you’re not up on Black Milk or Royce Da 5’9” then you don’t know what you’re missing or you’re wack. The concept was basically saying lets talk about all the s**t us as Detroit artists go through and rhyme extra hard as artists to be heard, to put our music out here and create a fan-base that will support our music. It’s a different grind for us because we’re not from a major city, like LA or New York. We don’t have certain things here in Detroit, like out there in those cities. It might be easier for those certain artists to get on where they could probably walk to a label somewhere in New York or Cali and try to politic with different people in the music industry, that’s not how it is in Detroit. We got to work extra hard here and make sure, our music is extra crazy. Then hopefully be heard by people in the music game and get that exposure that a major label artist would that lives in those cities. That’s why we’re always dropping music and always putting out s**t, trying to keep the buzz going and growing at the same time.
