For the second video release from The World Famous Tony Williams’ upcoming solo album, he enlists his long time writing partner and co-collaborator, Ron “Kat” Spearman to concoct the funk ballad #1 Fan. Spearman, a P-Funk All Star alumnus spent several years touring with the God Father of Funk, George Clinton, as a guitarist, bassist and vocalist. For the last few years (with George’s blessing), Spearman has dedicated his craft and time to his own band, Katdelic, a Bay Area favorite known for their sold out shows.
Embodying the essence of being an eclectic project, Williams uses #1 Fan to educate his audience and communicate that breakups don’t have to equal bitterness. The song veers slightly to the other side of the road from the first single, Money which features Pharohe Monch, a bluesy rock inspired banger that also served as the lead off number for his June release, The 7th Day.
My new sound is my old sound, and Ronkat and I went to school together on this funk stuff a long time ago”- TWFTW
