Letoya Luckett’s
debut single "Torn" continues to climb the R&B/Hip-Hop charts
landing at #3 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop
songs charts with over 714 radio spins.
Luckett, who received
Billboard’s Greatest Gainer honor for the week, is preparing her self-entitled
solo album LeToya on Capitol Records.
"I just want to get my voice heard again and to allow people to know me
outside of a group situation," Luckett said of her new musical ventures.
"I also want young girls who look up to me to know not to give up, even
when people try and take you away from your destiny."
The album, which will hit stores on July 25, features a host of Houston rappers
and producers, including Slim Thugg, Bun B, Mike Jones, Killa Kyleone, Michael
Watts, DJ Screw, Jazze Phae, TA and Paul Wall.
While in Destiny’s Child, Luckett co-wrote some of the group’s biggest hits,
including "Bills Bills Bills" and "Say My Name." She has
continued her songwriting by co-writing nine of the 16 tracks on LeToya.
The R&B singer will be touring with Mary J. Blige this summer, from July
14, through mid-September.
