Jay-Z has topped the charts with his latest album The Blueprint 3 and has surpassed Rock & Roll legend Elvis Presley with more #1 albums by a solo artist.

 

The rapper’s 11th album sold over 470,000 copies this week, putting the album in the top slot on Billboard’s Top 200 Albums chart.

 

Jay-Z tied Presley with 10, when his album American Gangster was released in November of 2007.

 

American Gangster debuted at #1, moving over 425,000 amount of copies during the first week in stores.

 

The album pushed Jay-Z’s the rapper in front of iconic Rock & Roll acts like The Rolling Stones and Bruce Springsteen.

 

The Beatles have 19 #1 albums and are the only group in music history to have more #1 albums than Jay-Z.

 

The rapper is aware of the monumental accomplishment and makes a reference to the historic accomplishment on The Blueprint 3.

 

On the track “Reminder,” Jay-Z drops lines referencing his #1 album streak, in addition to name checking Elvis Presley and The Rolling Stones.

Jay-Z is currently working on a new “experimental” album which has no release date.
