(AllHipHop News) Madtv alum Jordan Peele is now an Oscar winner. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences honored the Get Out writer/director with the award for Best Original Screenplay.

Peele made history by becoming the first African-American to win the Best Original Screenplay Academy Award. He used his acceptance speech to thank moviegoers.

“To everybody who went and saw this movie, everybody who bought a ticket, who told somebody to buy a ticket – thank you,” said 39-year-old filmmaker. “I love you for shouting out at the theater, for shouting out at the screen. I love all, thank you so much goodnight.”
