Grassroots Hip-Hop organization Tools of War will host their fifth annual True School Hip-Hop Summer Park Jam in New York City throughout the summer.
The summer long event stretches over a series of weekends throughout the entire 2007 summer, beginning on June 7 and ending in August.
Tools of War was founded by veteran Hip-Hop publicist and DJ manager Christie Z-Pabon and Hip-Hop historian Jorge “Popmaster Fabel” Pabon, Senior VP of the Rock Steady Crew.
The Pabons launched the Crotona Summer Park series in 2003 to enlighten the public on the history of Hip-Hop and the importance of the DJ.
Celebrating the positive aspects of the culture, Tools of War will feature many of the pioneer DJ’s who paved the way for upcoming turntablists.
Guest DJ’s throughout the summer include Grandmaster Caz (of the Cold Crush Brothers), Rob Swift (formerly of the X-ecutioners), DJ Scratch and many more.
This year the annual event will be hosted in the historic Harlem Parks and Queensbridge Park.
June’s Turntable Sessions held in Queens is free for all ages and will include various out door battles from various legendary DJ’s.
In July and August, Crotona, Jackie Robinson and Marcus Garvey Parks will all host different DJ tributes, featuring and paying homage to trailblazing Hip-Hop DJ’s.
