Megan Thee Stallion promised to bring back “Hot Girl Summer” despite its connections to Nicki Minaj. Megan teased her Hot Girl Summer Tour and a new album in an interview with Good Morning America on Tuesday (January 30).
“Oh, we’re having the tour this year,” she said. “The Hot Girl Summer Tour is gonna be 2024 summertime. I feel like I’ve never been able to be outside doing my own thing during the summer since like 2019. So, this is gonna be the first time that I drop an album on time for the summer. I do want to give the Hotties the Megan Thee Stallion experience.”
Megan vowed to keep using her signature “Hot Girl Summer” phrase even though her song of the same name featured Nicki. Megan recently angered Nicki by dropping a new single titled “HISS” on January 26.
“These hoes don’t be mad at Megan, these hoes mad at Megan’s Law,” Megan rapped on the song.
The Megan’s Law reference was widely considered to be a Nicki diss because her husband Kenneth Petty is a registered sex offender. Megan’s Law mandated the disclosure of registered sex offenders to protect the public.
Nicki certainly viewed the lyrics as a jab at her. Days later, she fired back with a diss track titled “Big Foot.” The track mentioned the Tory Lanez shooting, Megan’s late mother and much more. Nicki also threatened to release more disses if Megan responded.
“After the 1st one drop, if dat p#### ass hoe so much as BREATHE wrong ima empty da clip,” Nicki wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter). “If that p#### ass hoe deny 1THING I say, I’m posting every fkn receipt known to man. 5. Yes you heard me! Did 5 extra songs. we’ve been waiting on u HO.”
