Hip-Hop Rumors: Eldorado Red In Protective Custody?

UPDATE: Somebody hit me up on Twitter and denied unequivocally insisted that Eldorado Red is in Protective Custody. Dude IT AIN’T SO!!!!! So, I’m going to believe him, because he said he just talked to him the other day. And I’m out of this one! I need to check my sources!

Remember Atlanta rapper Eldorado Red? I sure do! He was the dude that was arrested and jailed for the murder of Lil’ Phat. Remember Lil’ Phat was one of Red’s collaborators back in the day, but he was also allegedly looped in with the Russian Mob. That’s a big deal. So, when the Russian Mob and Phat got into a beef, they needed somebody to get rid of Phat, they reportedly got Red to do it. Anyway. They I have a source that has basically said that Eldorado Red is in jail and its not very safe for him in there Seems like Lil Phat was well liked and all that. Seems like Red’s welfare is in jeopardy to the extent that the C.O.s and the warden or whoever realizes he’s gonna get killed in Gen Pop (my use of jail slang). This leads me to have info that says he’s in protective custody. This isn’t really a big deal to me, but I thought I would pass it over to the people. It means something to somebody.

By the way, I decided to check for Red on Twitter and sure enough, he’s there! How they got Twitter in jail? Anyway, Red may be coming home soon if his retweets are any indication of what is to come.

It also seems like he’s found God in there.

Anyway…God bless everybody!

Before this whole Nas thing happened, I was really discouraged with rap. I was not excited about the future of Hip Hop. I was doing other things. But, getting the call from Nas just lit the fire again. Really just got me ready to kill everything in my path.

Fashawn’s debut album Boy Meets World was released back in October 2009. He announced that the follow up, The Ecology will be released on September 30th and uses that opportunity to give rappers help on changing their style:

Spike Lee: I Convinced George Steinbrenner To Make The First Red Yankee Hat in 1996

(AllHipHop News) Jay Z may have made the Yankee hat more famous than a Yankee, but Spike Lee was the originator. During an interview with New Era CEO Chris Koch, Spike Lee explained how he got the late Yankee owner to change the Yankee hat color for the first time.

Spike Lee was apart of a panel with Koch, Frank 151 founder Stephen Malbon and Professor Elena Romero at the launch event for Lee’s installment of the New Era Heritage Series collection. During an interview with Complex, Lee explains how his desire to match his hat with his “red Yankee down jacket” in 1996 is what put the wheels in motion to create the first authorized Yankee hat not in the traditional navy blue color:

The World Series is in October and it gets cold so I wanted to have a hat. I called up New Era and they said ‘We don’t know if we can do that. You’d have to speak with Mr. Steinbrenner.’ Mr. George Steinbrenner. The late, great owner I called him up, Mr. Steinbrenner called up New Era and we got the Ok.

Spike Lee’s fashion influence did not start in 1996, as New Era collaborated with the young filmmaker on a special edition “X” hat for his 1992 film Malcolm X. According to Lee, the rare hat may return in 2017:

That was a special hat. So, maybe we’ll bring it back for the 25th anniversary for Malcolm X.

EXCLUSIVE: CJ Fly Explains How He Raps Like A Jazz Instrument, Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival + MORE (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) CJ Fly is the self-proclaimed “Overseer” of Pro Era and  For PART ONE of AllHipHop’s EXCLUSIVE with CJ Flyhe talks about never attending the Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival, how a legendary Hip Hop artist compared his flow to a jazz instrument and more.

CJ Fly met his Pro Era comrades Joey Bada$$ and Captial Steez at Edward Murrow High School and thus the sharpening of the skills happened in those school halls. According to Fly, his earlier education on jazz subconsciously altered the way he rapped, an inspiration that was noticed by one of Hip Hop’s greatest MC’s:

I can’t even explain it. I had music class in junior high school, elementary school. We were learning about people like Winston Marcellus. That just stuck with me. Even down to me rapping and making flows. Buckshot told me it sounds like a horn.

While CJ Fly was born and raised in Bedstuy, Brooklyn, he admits to never attending the Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival. However, CJ Fly says when he touches down at the Festival for the first time, he’ll be bringing a full band a “jazzy experience”. This seems to make good on a promise he made to fans last week:

Donald Sterling Blasts Wife, Her Lawyer & The Media During Clippers Ownership Trial

(AllHipHop News) The ongoing saga involving Donald Sterling and the sale of the Los Angeles Clippers entered a courtroom this week. Sterling and estranged wife Shelly Sterling are fighting it out in court on whether Shelly had the authority to sell the NBA team.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Donald Sterling took the stand on Tuesday and used his testimony to challenge his wife, her legal team, and the news media.

Sterling accused Shelly of misleading him about mental health exams he apparently took in May that were used to determine his ability to be involved in the Sterling Family Trust.

“I trusted my wife. I relied on her. I love her… Those two doctors should not be practicing medicine, you know it and I know it,” said Sterling. He later told Shelly’s lawyer Bert Fields, “You told [the doctors] to find something wrong so we can sell the team. He did what he was told and the woman did.”

Sterling also claimed one of the specialists that tested him was intoxicated at the time of the exam and told him she was now a heavy drinker due to debts from a divorce.

Parts of Sterling’s testimony also included the 80-year-old telling Fields to “be a man,” suggesting news reports about his past statements we created in the mind of journalists, and arguing his wife “can’t run anything” and does not have his level of experience.

“What do you think I’m doing this for, ego?” he asked Fields at one point.

“Yes,” the attorney responded.

NBA owners are set to vote on a proposed sale of the Clippers to Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer on July 15. Ballmer offered to purchase the team from the Sterling Family Trust for a reported $2 billion.

The sale cannot go through without approval from the judge. The parties have until September 15 to settle the deal or the league can put the team up for auction.
