(AllHipHop Rumors) Lil Uzi Vert made waves in 2017 with the release of “XO Tour Life” and his debut album.
‘Luv Is Rage 2’ features the “Xo Tour Life,” “The Way Life Goes” and the Pharell Williams produced “Neon Guts.”
The album was released via Atlantic Records. That isn’t a surprise seeing that DJ Drama is an A&R for the label.
For those who don’t know, Lil Uzi Vert is signed to a company called Generation Now. Generation Now is an imprint of Atlantic Records founded by DJ Drama and Don Cannon.
The imprint signed Lil Uzi Vert to a deal in 2015 and spoke about their situation to Pigeons and Planes in 2017.
“When we found him, he didn’t have a real situation going,” said Cannon. He continued, “He was doing things on things own, trying to get his music on. I felt like with our supernatural abilities we could take him out of here, and that’s basically all it comes down to. There’s not really a master plan to it. We just know what we can do with people that are passionate enough and have talent.”
Basically they groomed Uzi to become the Hip Hop superstar that we now see. However, Uzi doesn’t seem too thrilled about their business dealings.
Lil Uzi Vert has made headlines in 2017 and 2018 for financial information associated with his massive “XO Tour Life” single. The most recent headline being the single’s producer TM88 still not being paid for the record.
Uzi recently took to Twitter to vent.
“And if y’all do sign … sign 2 a major Dont sign 2 a rapper or a Dj ……..Its Just Easier When The Time Come For That Fake Sh*t,” said Uzi.
“Lets state the facts and see who REALLY on some fake sh*t,” Drama would later reply.
Rapper Rich The Kid would also chime in Saying,
“That’s why you SHOULDA signed Rich forever.”
To which Uzi would reply,
“Boy I’m not signing for 20racks.”
Rich The Kid would later also respond in a video clip.
“Hey man. Your boss ain’t treating you right. Your CEO ain’t treating you right. Come over to Rich Forever Music. You know what I’m saying. Come over to Rich Forever Music. Ya digg.,” said Rich The Kid.
2017 was very successful for Uzi, but he doesn’t seem happy with his current label situation. 2018 was poised to be a bigger year for the Philly native. Hopefully he can get his business dealings together.
Do you think Lil Uzi Vert will remain signed to Atlantic Records?
