Rapper Guru and producer Solar will hit the road in support of Jazzmatazz Vol. 4: The Hip-Hop Jazz Messenger: Back to the Future, the latest installment of Guru’s legendary long-running Jazmatazz series of albums.
The tour will kick off tomorrow night (July 18) at the House of Blues in Chicago and will hit 14 cities before winding down in August 3 in Little Rock, Arkansas.
According to Guru, fans of the Hip-Hop/Jazz genre will not be disappointed with his latest collaborative effort, which features guest appearances from heavyweights from both genres, including Bobby Valentino, David Sanborn, Bob James, Slum Village, Ronnie Laws, Caron Wheeler and others.
“Jazzmatazz Vol. 4 is indeed some of my best work ever,” Guru said of the album. “All of the featured guests that we reached out to showed nothing but extreme admiration and respect for the Jazzmatazz legacy and expressed the desire to be a part of this great body of work without hesitation.”
Jazzmatazz Vol. 4 producer Solar also directed the video for the single “State of Clarity,” which features Common and Bob James.
“The video appeals to a wide audience and children can access this video without parents feeling uncomfortable about what they are seeing,” Guru said. “At the same time the video is intelligent, cool and state of the art.”
