Beanie Faces Jail Over Taxes This Thursday

(AllHipHop News) Beanie Siegel’s comeback could be derailed by a prison sentence later this week.

The Philadelphia rapper is scheduled to be sentenced to prison on Thursday (April 12), for failing to report income to the federal government.

In August, Beanie Sigel pleaded guilty to failing to file federal tax returns from 2003-2005, on more than $1 million worth of income.

According to the Philadelphia Daily News, Beanie Sigel’s lawyers will contest the amount the government says Beanie owes during the sentencing on Thursday.

According to the government, Beanie Sigel owed a total of $348,000.

The news comes just a week after Beanie Sigel announced a new record deal through EMI with veteran music executive Chris Schwartz.

Beanie is facing up to three years in prison for the tax violations.

In related news, Beanie Sigel is preparing to release a mixtape of all-new material next week titled Broad Street Empire Vol. 1: Lost Files.

How many rappers did Clinton hound for taxes in eight years as President? ZERO.
How many rappers did Bush hound for taxes in eight years as President? ONE. (And he was already in prison)
How many rappers has Obama hounded for taxes in three years as President?  TOO MANY TO COUNT.

Conclusion = Hip-hop cannot afford another four years under Obama…how’s that “hopey changey” working out for you anyway?

    • rep87

ITs not the President fault,TAXES have been around before all of the bloggers on this site its amazing how you could blame President Obama, All Entertainers have face this at one point in time from Redd Foxx to Wesley Snipes the list is Black and White ,Hip Hop is not reccession proof ,Willie Nelson to Jerry Lee Lewis had to fight uncle sam , Report the facts only , President Bush rode this country into the ground with two wars and protecting the wealthy 1 percent wirh tax breaks , What we need to do is not Elect Mitt Romney a wealthy 1 percent earner who cant identify with the average hourly worker or small buisness owner

      • Michael Burmeister

Bush had us in two wars…Obama’s got us in FIVE. (Add Pakistan, Yemen, and Libya to the list-and at least Bush had Congress’ approval for his ones).

That Patriot Act Bush got in place…Obama extended THREE TIMES.

These record-high gas prices under Bush?  They’ve DOUBLED under Obama.

Bush added five trillion to the national debt…so did Obama, in less than half the time.

Reason I ain’t voting for Obama…he’s turning out to be Bush 3.0.

      • rep87

    • EL_BARK

      My thoughts exactly……

Its a lot of shit, cats dont know about his situations.

His past, his association with certain people or figures,
As well as shet that was going once upin a time.

Everybody that criticizing him, are looking at it from the outside looking in,
Because they are ignorant to how things work in philly, or anywhere once you pop up on them
      Boys radar.

Call him broke, call him dumb, call him a fuk up.

But bottom line, he was on of the realest rapper to ever touch a mic.

All the shet frauding rapper talk about doing, he really did,
Or was involved in. And he did this at the prime of his sucess.

He really was putting niggas on to get money.
Its many cats in the hood that ate because of him, some shet u niggas wont understand because yall dont know how a niggah like him move.

Think about it, the feds didnt just decide to pick him up from the court that day he made bail for the attempt case.

The feds fuking with him now is part of the game, and i not talking rap game.

Its comes with the terroritory He had manage to avoid, duck and shake, them feds
In every which way they come. Like a philly niggah lol.

This little bid aint nothing, but the feds, letting him know,
We still want that ass, they cant break the wall around him.
So they resort to these tatics lol.

Sigel can do this bid in his sleep…………

      • churchboy2

So being locked up = being real?

        Now that’s stupid.

Your comment demonstrates so much that his wrong with this generation.

      • EL_BARK

Raise your hand when you talk to me.

You got me confuse, i am prolly older then you.
So i dont belong to this generation,
I am an 80’s babies, & the last of a dieing breed.
Please dont confuse with these knuckle head youngsters.

I was taught & groom by the last generation of OG’s
Not these generation X pepsi clowns that pretend to be down.

      • churchboy2

LOL, I’m a 70s baby so I was there when your dying breed left diapers.

But we do agree that this gen is filled with knuckleheads.

  • mrgibson

How are you as old as Beans is, and have as much money under your belt and can’t do something like pay your taxes?  Doesn’t matter how much of a gangster you are my dudes, uncle sam wants his cut of the pie and will come after your ass to get his share.  He may not get you now, but he’ll get you at some point.  Get some lawyers/investors/etc to launder your shit or show you how to hide your money like the REAL bosses do.  Going to jail because you don’t wanna ante up on taxes is stupid.

  • TO BE HONEST THESE TAX EVASION CHARGES MAKE BEANS LOOK SMART. CAUSE UNLIKE YALL FAVORITE RAPPER (RICK ROSS, LIL WAYN, ECT.) BEANS IS A REAL STREET NI&&@. AND ALL STREET NI$$@Z KNOW WHEN THE FEDS CANT HIT YOU WIT ANYTHING ELSE THEN THROW TAX CHARGES AT YOU. AND THE REASON HE KEEP GOIN BACK TO JAIL IS CAUSEHE ON PAPERS AND ANY NI&&@ THATS ON PAPERS KNOWS IT DONT TAKE MUCH TOO GO BACK. YALL ACTIN LIKE HE BE CATCHIN NEW CHARGES. OH AND FOR THE LAWYERS THEY AINT NOTHIN BUT PROFESSIONAL ROBBERS, PUT YO TRUST IN THEM IF YOU WANT TOO SMH..

AND FOR THE RECORD BEANS(STATE PROP IN GENERAL) WAS ROCKAFELLA!!!

    • churchboy2

Unfortunately, this comment does not make YOU look smart.

Did you even consider that Beans actually did not pay his taxes, or did you go straight to the “he’s-so-hood-they-made-up-charges-against-him-theory”?

It costs the feds more money to feed, clothe and house criminals, they have no reason to WANT him in jail… SMH.

      • EL_BARK

This comment alone speaks volumes on why i always tell you take a jump off yours moms porch,
And take a walk around the block. Lol

Al capone with to jail for taxes evasion??? Why
Because the feds couldnt build a case.

Tommy mickens from ny also went for tax evasion.

As well do a lot of people went the feds cant get the charges they really want on you.

And did you just say why would the feds spend money to lock beans up?

And you are really not smart or dense.

Because you dont play by the rules, you got to jail.

People go to jail for drug dealing. Not because the gov give a damn about your personal well being.

People go to jail, because by selling drugs, your are not complying with the rules they have set in place for you. In other words because you are a little slow.
You are going against the grain. They cant tax you on drug money.
Thats the only reason why its illegal, and by you not giving the gov
1/3 of your money. Like regular working people do, you are not following their plan.

Your only purpose in life is to generate money for the gov.
No matter if you make 7 dollar an hour,
        Or making millions.

When you gain money from illegal activities, your not complying so they book you.

Why is liqour and cigarettes illegal when they are far more harmful then weed?
        Cause the gov taxes it.

By the way. Going to jail dont make you real. I didnt say that.

I said mac is a real nigga. And going to jail comes with the terorritory.

Going to jail is not cool, in most cases its means you mess up and made a mistake.

Now you can send 19.99 plus tax @ 8 cents to my pay pal
For me schooling you yet again, with my knowledge.

        Class is out.

      • churchboy2

You went along way to prove that gov’ts make money from taxing – a point which was never in dispute. (I’m not sure where the “schooling” is in that?)

To be clear, we disagree on the “heroism” of Beanie Siegel.

My position is that he is a great rapper but a poor decision maker in life.

The gov’t may want more tax money from all of us, but Beans keeps putting himself in tough spots because of his poor/stupid decisions. (And he can afford great advisors whereas most of us cannot).

Honestly, the man brags IN SONG about stacking funds but didn’t give the feds their cut… [Ed Lover Voice: C’MON SON!]

BTW, you once again equated “realness” with going to jail – and this particular point is the sad generational statement.

When did jail time become the hallmark of realness?

[My bad, you said “real nigga” – I guess that is distinction – Real Niggas do jail time… but I digress…]

      • EL_BARK

I type a reply but it didnt post.

I never said mac was an hero. I said he was a real niggas.
My point of the tax evasion was to point out,
That is a nut charge the feds give you, when they cant get nothing else.

Let me ask you something. Since you said mac should had had money advisors.

If you sold liqour during prohibition. Would you just go to the gov.
And say here go 300,000 dollars. I just want pay my fair share?

Hell no. Because you better had a damn good excuse to tell them where thst 300 000 dollars came from… Also mac was lock up in a fed prison during the year he didnt pay.
Its hard to manage fianances while you in & out of court and drug rehabs lol.

Sometimes its better to remain quiet abd eat charges,
Then to explain yourself, and get jammed up even more.

There has been times i myself, had to sit in jail,
When i had bail money to get out. But rather bail yourself out,
You just sit and wait it out.

Because if you post bail, and at the age i was, (young) i would had gotten my self more in a jam. In fact my lawyer advised not to post bail lol.
It would open up a can of worms. So i sat.

Sounds dumb to to you, but to me it made perfect sense

      • churchboy2

I’m not going to get into your personal issues about why you were arrested; that’s your business.

But just because many people have had tax charges thrown at them when other things did not stick, does not mean Beans is innocent of these charges.

In fact, in his recent AHH interview Beans mentioned finally getting a deal that works for him – to which I commented that he waited far too long into his career to finally get serious about properly managing his business affairs.

Given his admitted negligence, it is not surprising that he may have actually not paid Uncle Sam at some point in his career.

And no, I am not talking about paying taxes on cash earned under the radar – I am talking about paying taxes on funds earned from record sale units that are a matter of public record.

The first rule of the music business is to hire a good business manager & accountant. Siegel was around enough successful artists to know/do this. His apparent failure to do this is his shame.

Even if the charges are “trumped up,” his accounting was suspect enough to draw the attention of the feds.

We will have to agree to disagree, but for me, given his history of federal attention, the blame for this is clearly on Dwight Grant’s shoulders.

  • MadcapMusicDotCom

“I have no need for 20 body guards. I do have the need for a highly skilled, well experienced personal accountant.” – Elvis Presly

His point still rings true. Bend the system, sure. But breaking it when you are in the public eye and clearly raking in big doe? Not gonna go down well for very long. They’re bound to keep a keen eye on you. I don’t belive its karma or anything to do with Beanie. Its just logic.

  • Kenneth Wayne Hicks Jr

WOW IT DON’T MAKE YOU SMART TO GET AN TAX EVASION CHARGE IT JUST FURTHER LET ME KNOW WE STILL GOT AN OLD NUGGA MENTALITY WERE COOL TO GO TO JAIL . BEEN TOO PRISON.
