Hip-Hop Rumors: RhymeFest Says Chief Keef & Waka Flocka’s Music Is Destroying Minds

Conscious rapper RhymeFest released a blog recently that calls out Waka Flocka Flame and Chief Keef for “destroying young minds.” Check out an excerpt from his blog below:

Chief Keef is a “Bomb”, he represents the senseless savagery that white people see when the news speaks of Chicago violence. A Bomb has no responsibility or blame, it does what it was created to do; DESTROY! Notice, no one is talking about the real culprits, the Bomb maker or the pilot who is deploying this deadly force (Labels, Radio Stations). Its easier to blame the bomb. Bombs are not chosen for their individual talents, they are tools used for collateral damage.

To think of the persona of Chief Keef as a person would be the first mistake, he will more then likely come and go without us knowing much of anything about his personal pains, struggles, great loves and ambitions beyond rap. He is a spokesman for the Prison Industrial Complex. Every corporation is expected to grow at least 4% each quarter, many prisons are privately owned with stock being traded on the open market. If these corporations were to do commercials, jingles and promotions who would they hire? You got it, most of the main stream rappers we salivate over like Rick Ross the former correctional officer turned Drug Lord Boss rapper. Waka Flocka Flame gang bang “GO HARD IN THE PAINT” and Chief Keef the newest lottery pick in the “Get paid to destroy young minds, like we destroyed yours” Sweepstakes.

Lets stop giving our intellectual power resources and admiration to destructive forces while ignoring and starving out the good that is being done, sung and rapped about by artist like Killer Mike, Lupe Fiasco, RhymeFest, Dead Prez, Brother ALI, Maimouna Yusef, Invincible, Jean Grey, Mikkey Halsted etc.

Sydney Lace: this is an open letter for Fest

Dam I hate 2 say it but I agree wit Fest, not taking a shot a Chief Keef cus he’s not the worlds problem. The problem is when I read an article like this I wonder what options are there?
If I say to you that I’ve been doing music for 23 years and was offered a few situations that I passed on due to the fact that I agree wit Fest on the issues, what would you do? who will come to my aid? who will give me the positive push I always desired before I jus say fck it and do what Chief Keef did jus to get in the fckn door? I can see it now, planning to get in and changing what I don’t like about the machine when in reality I couldn’t even change the mind of the very people that can but decided not to help. If you sat down with me you would hear a catalog with 20% of me and 70% of them, only because the 10% that Fest falls under will never read this. If you come in my house, and see poop on the floor…Don’t talk shit, Pick it up. My mama told me that lol

Mucho Respect to Chief Keef and RymeFest tho

    • Q.

Maybe the problem is, we artists, Black people in general for that matter, rely too much on the machine and somebody else’s hand to feed us. We need to learn and understand business and carve out our own industries independently, ones in which we can support and sustain ourselves; there are numerous examples of independent success in Hip-Hop. We don’t need the Big 4 to capitalize off of our own talents; that’s one of the biggest misconceptions about this game. In fact, if you’re really paying attention, you see that nowadays, cats like Keef are getting APPROACHED by the industry because of their independent buzz. The labels are stingy; they rarely develop artists anymore. They just wanna swoop in and buyout the brand while it’s still bubbling. With this YouTube era, they want the artist to have 50,000 Twitter followers and a million YouTube views off internet singles from jump…Then the bloodsuckers wanna make you sign a 360 deal.
In short, this industry needs US, WE DON’T NEED THEM.

      • immackulate

thats exactly what the problem is … take KILLAH MIKE for example a GRAMMY award winning rapper best known from OUTKAST fam – who went from Big Boi’s PURPLE RIBBON label to his own start up GRINDTIME RAP GANG to landing a indie deal dist thru GRAND HUSTLE (him and TI been cool since either one of;em was really known) but Killah Mike turned down lucrative deals because he didnt want to compromise his artistic creativity or change his name (although later adding an AKA “Bigger Mike/Mike Bigger”) hence signing with lifelong friend TI who wouldnt stiffle the mans creativity …

in the end, to him it wasnt about the money – notoriety or the fame
it was about establishing his own brand INDEPENDENTLY 1st and
carving out his own lane – with confidence comes conviction – and now
he reaps the benefits of being respected for the messages behind his music
and not the car or chain that he rocks

  • he sure ant wrong, thats fo sho!!! idk why anyone would want to sign keef, and thats nothing to do with his image or style its just the fact he sucks. same damn flow every track… like the sec i heard that ish i dont like track we heard everyone of his songs lol..

  • junj03

    F this non rumor crap

  • jeanbeatz

I agree with Fest but I will never knock Chief keef Hustle either. There are all kind of angles to approach the music business and many stories to tell. violence is Chicago too sad but true, We have those thoughful people that uplift the hood. then we have those that report what’s going on in the hood. Some participate in hood activities ( good or bad ). They all have there place. We as the consumers are telling the radio stations and the labels that we like the Keef Chiefs. Is it the label fault or us as the consumer? To me thats the question.

    • johnblacksad

Who is Chief Keef, and what is his hustle? Please fill a n!gga in… no homo

      • immackulate

he a local rapper from the CHI who was best known when KANYE remixed his SMASH single “i dont like” or some shyt like that

KANYE actually added a LYRICAL element that was definitely lacking

      • johnblacksad

        ok i see… neva heard of’em before.

What ever happened with that ninja Bump J. from the Chi as well… I believe Kanye was tryin to put him on at one point

      • immackulate

bump j was that dude but he got caught up in a bank robbery and them people hid him behnd bars lol he almost on his way home though – bump j had bars and was G as they came – matter fact he was the 1st one with that 50 CENT deal – lyor cohen flew to that niggahs traphouse to offer him a deal

      • johnblacksad

I aint know that either… that’s too bad, cause he did have a lil nice flow, and his rhymes were gangstally correct!
Maybe he’ll come out the bing with even more substance and rawer sh!t (not like Shyne tho, you’d think he’d come out and put out a mixtape every week… what he do instead?! i’m not even gon go there… lol)

    • Kevin Farley

are we tellin the radio stations that we like certain songs when payola makes sure its played every hour, when an artist hasnt even sold any records or dropped an album yet? the label and the powers that be decide what songs are gonna be played over and over again brainwashin people.i know the countdowns on the radio where i live arent really voted for by the callers their picked bc the label is payin somebody at the station .10 or 15 years ago you’d still have corny songs played on the radio over and over again but dj’s could still pick some good songs or somethin local but i dont even hear that anymore.

    • Q.

The answer is BOTH. Black listeners specifically need to stop glorifying these death chants that people call rap music by these young tools that people call rappers, and get a grip. First of all, there’s very little skill and artistry being shown by this new breed of rappers. Chief Keef is adding nothing relevant to the game, AT ALL. So what’s the point? To get five dollars for you to trick off and say you made it? Please. See, Black folks in particular keep falling in this constant trap of celebrity worship, to the point that we’ll champion anyone who’s getting a little shine, no matter how nonsensical what they’re offering is. We’re so damn accepting, that anybody Black we see or hear on TV or the radio gets a pass. We don’t question the relevance of these people, nor do we challenge the industries which finance them to entertain/degrade us. We just go along and say. “They kinda wack/corny but, at least they making money.” Damn that. This enables the media industry to swoop in and put our worst on display on a global platform. Meanwhile, they lay back sneering watching the deaf, dumb, and blind masses just gobble this slop up like it’s Thanksgiving. Those of us who are awake recognize that this American media machine is wicked. And when it comes to Black people, the machine specializes in churning out modern day minstrels and coons. Hip-Hop isn’t about hope and journaling the American Black experience anymore…this sh!t has descended into a parade of death, a bleak mockery of our culture and ancestry put on display to keep white supremacy alive while simultaneously lining the pockets of our enemies. If you eat sleep, and consume death, then you become what? Death. The game is about MIND CONTROL and the battle for human  SOULS”…You keep the game going by keeping the giants ASLEEP.

Big up to Fest for being a cat in the industry with balls enough to speak out against the destruction of our Culture. Real men and women from all walks need to stand up more against the media machine. Stakes is way too high now.

      • Kevin Farley

white robot supremacy or white alien supremacy?

    • immackulate

bruvahs in the CHI are in a sad state right now … i been there plenty of times and that city aint cut out for the weak at heart HOWEVER chief keef is watered down garbage –
which a lot of these younger artists are

its certain gangsta niggahs that mix societies ill’s with social commentary and a little bit of intellect all the while glorifying gangsta shyt but there are variables involved most importantly WORD PLAY and being WITTY

that being said i give shot outs to LEP BOGUS BOYS and BUMP J for not just being the regular run of the mill gangsta rappers – bruvahs actually got bars too

honorable mention to MIKKEY H. too cuz he stay on some REAL LIVE MANHOOD type shyt

Its for both mane, its like we supposed to know the right from wrong the pain from the celebratory, the real from the fake and in today’s Hip Hop it doesn’t exist. Niggas criticized Young Jeezy a while ago for not being versatile then he switched the format and proved he had a talent and its sad that these young niggas (mostly my generation and yours) never got to grow up around the 2Pac, Ice Cube, Ice T, NWA, PE era so they’ll never understand the messages in which they were trying to deliver to us.

Hip Hop niggas just mad because they favorite rapper ain’t selling.

    • TruthSerum

Shut up idiot, no rapper is selling anymore, Waka Flocka sold a staggering 50K copies of his new ignorant garbage

The biggest star of this generation, Lil Wayne, can barely sell double platinum with 6 singles on the radio, Nicki Minaj & B.O.B are chasing gold with their record on FM spin 24/7

NO RAPPERS ARE SELLING ANYMORE, THAT ARGUMENT DONT WORK

I’m not a big fan of conscious rap, but I listen to Killer Mike, Nas, Lupe, and Common and their music is quality music and they speak art to the ears of heir listeners. Being that I am an artist myself I choose the “Trap” side of rap rather than being a conscious rapper because its my style, but through several songs you’ll see that I am diverse and I speak of issues within my life, as well as brothers and sisters like myself. What Rhymefest is saying is nothing different from what Nas said with the “Hip Hop is Dead” or even what Killer Mike and Lupe Fiasco speak about in music today. The artists such as Keef and Flocka are not to blame because honestly from my views, they’re almost as street as I am and they’re probably artists who want change, hell Flocka earned my respect with his Anti Bully campaign, but its the media who pumps money into the labels and the labels pump money into the artist and it’s like modern day slavery all over again and until someone is real enough to speak about it the “Hip Hop” culture that exists will continue to plague what we used to know as Africa American Pride. But in the end, don’t hate their success because they chose to sell out, it’s their decision, yours (Rhymefest) is to continue educating those willing to listen.

human beings are like sheep. docile and stupid. a sheep grazes in the clearing and wanders off from time to time to just graze away with out a care in the world and then before the sheep knows it it’s surrounded by wolves. now as far as human beings are concerned, we have free will (which in my opinion everyone can do the right thing, and has common sense if used correctly.)  and it just seems to me that ALL OF MAN believes he/she is right in their own eyes, which causes us to place ourselves stupidly into dangerous situations all because we want to live our lives the way we see fit, and if anyone tells us different we’re all defensive and agitated until it’s too late, im curious to know how many people actually TRY to be a good human being to be your brother’s keeper, to live a godly life and avoid worldly things does anyone at least try to showcase morals anymore? We find out about something new and shiny and we are in awe of it and forget everything else in order to prove our particular theories and beliefs, I believe every single human being who is not mentally retarded/handicapped  knows right from wrong. We use phrases like “im doing me do you” as an excuse or “It’s my life if im wrong then let me be wrong!” to pretty much justify EVERYTHING WE DO whether it be wrong or right.IF music/movies is just for entertainment then why do some girls copy every little thing these celebrites do instead of be themselves? why do guys dress up like their favorite entertainers and talk like people on tv all day? why does everyone want everyone to be in their biz? (twitter, facebook, and everything else) what does it prove to anyone? why are people going the extra mile to impress people they don’t even like? i mean i really want to know….

    •  You make some good points but try replacing a bunch of commas with periods man.

  • Take Lupe Fiasco off the list because the first words out of his mouth in the pete rock dispute was “He was from the streets” , like that really means anything?  the government is not caring one bit that 14 years olds in Bushwick are killing each other, or 20 year old in new orleans are dying over foolishness.!!!!

  • thaGOD83

its like a catch 22, people talk down on dudes like rhymesfest, mike dean, saigon, etc.  but the destruction of this machine has to start somewhere, some1 with heart, and love for his/her people has to take a risk and stand for something right..TUPACS dear mama could stop a 40 man brawl, r kelly could make the whole club horny, lil jon can make a whole club rowdy and wanna fight, my point is that music influences you based on the beat, lyrics, hidden messages, etc..rhymefest come from the chi where 30 dudes get shot over the wknd, he ran for office, dude is over qualified to make these allegations….he is actually in the mix of the turmoil trying to bring peace, yet when he sees the youth literally “going dumb” and listening to music that incites violence, dru8g usage/selling, gay shit, disrespect towards women, being an elder in the community, he has to stand up and tell what wrong, and children dont have that uncle, aunt, family friend, that can give them direction..people say “i dont  feel keef or whateva but i can respect his hustle” the same can be said about big meech, or any d boy that destroys the neighborhood with poison, yet get respect for that being their husltle and them being great at it..great at destruction? and dudes like this get a hood pass? but an activist, mentor, gets no pass, all the disrespect/labeling as being a hater, im confused and also frightened for our people in that we a prolonging our awakening (from our spiritual coma) to stay dumb/dormant, too trapped in the physical prison not realizing this is hell, not having 360 degrees of knowledge, killing each other, in this strange land gene-isis 15:13, we have to start supporting love, peace, etc.  and get the farthest away from the things that are holding us spiritually hostage,   Much love to rhymefest

    • The reason why this is happening is mainly because they are aware that the majority of us do not have role models to guide us. The people that we chose are role models are the ones that flash their cash, cars, et and end up dying or spending a long stretch in jail.

They are aware that the fastest channel to get to us is to use these instruments of destruction. These rappers are aware of this to and also want to get involved and be used my the media so that they can make money and during the course destroy more lives.

Its about time we wake up and stop supporting these rappers. YOU ARE THE ONES THAT ARE MAKING THEM RICH. When you buy their records they get paid, and what do you get in return for it? YOU ANSWER THAT QUESTION.

I do not think this post will change a lot as we have been advocating this for a while, I am not going to sound disrespectful, but I do not even think that many people will be able to make sense of what i have written either if it not typed in “Ebonics” or gangsta language.

All I hope is, this post brings awareness to someone who will then begin to rationalise.

      • Makes complete sense ” GEEEeee!” << In Flavor Flav Voice

Not many folks are buying music anyway, in reality, with quantitative easing devaluing the dollar, interest rates penalizing saved $$$, so it isn't about sales, totally.

#1 Rapper doesn't sell 1album on my block, but there are people who do listen to it, who do like it.

A Younger generation member once told me that Weezy was better than KRS-One,  Soooo….., can't say the music isn't popular, but what 'Fest said was deep, about them being prison commercials.

" Rappers spit rhymes that are mostly illegal, MC's spit Rhymes to uplift their people"….KRS-ONE

Except for that childish discussion going on between
Sir Salty McGinty III, toreal  and the other homos below, I think I share similar views with the rest of you.  It’s a tough one, but I need both the conscious and the party and bullshit music.  I gotta have that balance. Too much of one thing is good for nothing.

    • Party music could still be conscious, boolchet music, is just that, good balance is key for any diet, Physical or mental.

  • RichFromBX

at some point personal responsibility needs to be taken…the whole argument around how ‘the industry’ and corporations being at fault is a little played out now. the way these arguments are presented its like these rappers were completely different people that spoke consciousness but then ‘the industry’ stepped in and forced them to change their whole style and be gangstas and spit ignorance…if that’s the case it’s not the industry’s fault, you (the rapper) had the option to say no but you chose not too…

take cigarettes for example, for a while there were all of these movements and protest against the tobacco companies making them out to be the devil…outside of the constant ‘stop smoking’ campaigns you don’t see anything blaming the companies that make them anymore because it reached the point of ‘we’ve told you everything, you know it’s terrible so if you still want to do it go ahead but you have no one but yourself to blame when you’re sick and dying”…

it’s amazing when someone is killed by gunfire there’s a huge outcry to ban guns and get them off the streets with little to no mention of the person who pulled the trigger instead we focus on just the weapon itself…in this article he likens Chief Keef as a ‘bomb’ and he’s only doing what a bomb is suppose to so we can’t blame him but instead focus on the people who’s dropping the ‘bomb’…you can’t have it both ways…unlike a gun, a rapper can choose what ‘bullets’ he or she chooses to spit..

    • True, very true, so are they pawns, or is their music just GOOD? ( To those who feel it is )

  • This real “hiphop” argument is gay, especially when you try to take down other artist to promo your music.  If your not poppin, for the most part its because your not makin good music. “Conscious” rappers have a tendency to think that just cause their music is “conscious”, its good and we should be obligated to listen.  Its just as ridiculous as sayin all Gospel is good music just because they are singin songs about God.
Just to name a few, Common and Mos Def ect never make this argument.  People dont listen to them because they’re “conscious” people listen because they make good music.

    •  He didnt say shit about his own music here chief.  Read more, type less.

      • “Lets stop giving our intellectual power resources and admiration to destructive forces while ignoring and starving out the good that is being done, sung and rapped about by artist like Killer Mike, Lupe Fiasco, RhymeFest, Dead Prez, Brother ALI, Maimouna Yusef, Invincible, Jean Grey, Mikkey Halsted etc.”
        -Take your own advice

      •  “This real “hiphop” argument is gay, especially when you try to take down
other artist to promo your music.  If your not poppin, for the most
part its because your not makin good music.”

Again…Rhymefest…The guy this article is about.  Said not one thing about promoting HIS own music.

      • LOL yo he just said
“”Lets stop giving our intellectual power resources and admiration to
destructive forces while ignoring and starving out the good that is
being done, sung and rapped about by artist like Killer Mike, Lupe
        Fiasco, RHYMEFEST”

You see right there….. right above this statement..he said in a intellectual manner, to stop listening to who he thinks is wack and listen to him and the others rappers he just named….THATS PROMOTING HIS OWN MUSIC

        Your wrong colonel sanders.

    • CaliTransplant

First of all, how can an argument be ‘gay?’ Get a new word, please..

Second of all, Mos and Common talk about conscious vs. ignorant ass hip hop ALL OF THE TIME!

“I see nigga’s slammin her (reference to Onyx) and taking her to the sewer (reference to Das Efx). But I’m a take it back, hoping that the shit stop. Cause who I’m talking ’bout, ya’ll, is hip hop..”Common’s I Used to Love Her

And yes, people do listen to them because they’re conscious as well as good.

But, I like your analogy of gospel music…

      peace.

      • What im sayin is Common, Mos Def and all those guys dont make a 3 paragraph blog about how conscious music is better than ignorant music and try to bring the problems of the black community into it…. and blame it on music.
         They just make music.

  • And by the way niggas was killin niggas before Chief Keef and Waka Flocka …

  • $17637591

He makes some strong points but I dont agree with everything he said. Rap doesn’t create the problems inner city blacks face…but most Rappers do propetuate the problems and are not merely “reporting” the issues of the streets. Its not the artist that are the problem…its the ingnorant people that ony gravitate and support a certain type of music. Thats why i miss the 90’s so much. Rappers talked about the streets but the music had some social conciousness also. Cheif Keefe Waka and Ross make good music but they are all IGNORANT AND COULD CARE LESS ABOUT WHY THINGS ARE THE WAY THEY ARE IN THE INNNER CITIES THEY RAP ABOUT.

    DETROIT HARD HEADZ

    • I think thats the major difference between hip hop then and now.  Back then rappers would talking about whats going on and why it needs to stop.  Now the rappers glorify the negative shit even though a majority of them never lived the life they brag about.

  • immackulate

i cant tolerate WAKA or CHIEF KEEF music at all – but i aint into Rhymefest either
waka and keef make ignoraNT music there’s no thought prevoking lyrics just random 1st thing that comes to mind type raps (even though i heard JADA say WAKA was a very intelligent person – bruvah might just be dumbing down for record sales or just lack of talent)  rhymefest on the other hand is kindah boring to me glad he gave kanye JESUS WALKS cuz he wouldnt have represented right …

it solely comes down to maturity and taste in music … i can tolerate some ignarant shyt (Jeezy being the best example) if its done with a little taste or if some dignity/social commentary is thrown in somewhere but the only so-called “conscious” rappers i knock mostly use hard azz gangsta, boom-bap, type beat/chorus’ that grab your soul and make you listen

ICE CUBE was the GREATEST at walking that fine line of CONSCIOUS/IGNORANT at times
and look at the classics he’s been credited with contributing to hip-hop – WAKA, CHIEF KEEF wont ever get that credit cuz these niggahs are just flashes in the pan – waka not as much because he does have some business sense (obviously attributed from his mother and his Uncle who useta run with SUPREME TEAM also worked for Def Jam as an A&R as a condition to his parole)

However, we do need that party shyt cuz when it’s time to cut loose (it’s in our DNA from African Mowuabe -no f7- to Black American Soul Train line) cuz we all know that FIGHT THE POWER aint gonna get the pary hype!

im on cool on the PARTYAND BULLSHYT cuz it serves a purpose
im cool on CONSCIOUS or social commentary rap cuz its serves a purpose

what purpose does HEAD BUSSA serve besides the stereotypical downfall “US vs US”
quit using THIS WHAT GOES ON IN THE HOOD as an excuse cuz WE SEE IT ER’DAY WHEN I WALK OUT MY DOOR so i dont need a niggah telling me the same ole same ole – we should be trying to escape that shyt and not embrace that shyt and white folks dont give a damn until it comes to the suburbs like crack did

yea but ask cube to perform “burn hollywood burn ” now….he would prob call security on you lol…i cant embrace any music talking bout killing, dope slanging, etc   when i have attended too many funerals, almost lost my life trying to so called huslte back in the day…you on point also, “head bussing” shit talking bout choppers, guns galore, means nothing. how can any1 listen to ross, jeezy, slow gotti, pusha trash, bird, man?, any assholes talking bout they got them “bricks” on national radio..how does that fly when REAL hood dudes cant talk about that shit on the phone without paying the price….

    • messias3

fyi   …they had crack first …. it was called free-bass or “bass” in my g money voice

  • TruthSerum

And here come all the fools with there “HE JUST HATING CAUSE HE AINT SELLING RECORDS” argument

How many copies the new Waka sold so far, a staggering 50K with all that promotion

    BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Not selling without the industry behind you>>>>>>>>>>>>>>.Still flopping with tons of promotion

RAP DOESN’T SELL ANYMORE PERIOD PEOPLE

B.O.B & Nicki are hovering around gold being shoved in our faces all day by the radio, Wayne is this generations biggest Icon and he barely made double platinum with more promotion then Elvis had in the 50’s, LMAO

Chief Keef gonna get him a little ringtone/Itunes single that lasts for 5 minutes and be lucky to go gold when he drops, Rhymefest probably makes more money then him at this point, Chief Keef gonna be Waka Focka 2.0 , that ignorant shuckin and jiving laughing stock they shove down are faces that cant sell nothing anyway

I dont even really care about Rhymefest either, I agree with him on this point but I always found his music boring. He’s wack to me for a diffrent reason. Chief Keef is wack cause he sounds like he has downsyndrome and makes me feel like I’m losing IQ points by the minutes, Rhymefest is wack cause listening to his music is equal to taking 5 tylenol PM’s. Listening to somebody preach holds no more intrest to me then hearing somebody rap like corky from life goes on

But when your right, your right, and he aint said one lie in that blog

    • Ravishing Quinc Rude

well said, my brutha.. well said.

    • mrgibson

word….that’s why pitbull went to that dance music….he caught on to the game early sadly, Flo-Rida too.

    • thaGOD83

well said for real, i know rhymefest did the boondocks theme song lol, and i heard him flow he is nice, but i never actually heard a lot of songs from him, but that shouldnt matter like you said, he was on point..i saw him walking through the CHI one time and he had a great cliche, he called “poverty pimping” in which rappers get paid off of exploiting the harsh conditions in our so called “hood”.. he is very smart, and he gets out there in the streets, so he aint some so called rappers just talking out of his neck…all of the older rappers, nas, jay, every/any1 is wack… for example nas talk all that shit, then kissess nicki in a video, i saw ghostface on hip hop squares…wtf   good point though bro

      • Bumpy Johnson

tell me bout it man…damn i thuohgt i was the only one who noticed that NAS is a hoe…i swear he was my favourite rapper…i use to listen to his shit and almost be in tears and now he f***in promotes and supports these wack asses…god i wish i could punch him in his face….talkin all that ish “hip hop is dead blah blah” and jumped on the band wagon…him and prodigy …F**** yall niggas, hip hop is my passion these hoes just killed it and stombed it.

    • Listening to somebody preach holds no more intrest to me then hearing somebody rap like corky from life goes on.
Amen. I had to learn that when I was rapping nobody want to hear it.

Every ni99a know that this is true. But the main problem is with the parents, how could they be dumb enough to let their kids beleiving these lyrics?
Chief Keef is one of the hardest shitty artists that I’ve seen so far (my opinion) but I bump a few waka’s tracks in my car. It doesnt mean that I’ll feel like blasting a moth3rfuccer for fun or having a rush to sell crack for street cred!

YOU WILL NEVER BE A SO-CALLED “REAL G”! MONEY MAKING CRIME IS NOT FOR DUMB NI99AS!

  • nino970

even tho i understand what he is saying over a 100  people have said this in one way of another about todays hip hop its dead rappers talk about the same thing etc. i  dont even listen to much of todays rap. but do you think saying this and talking about how you think this rapper and that rapper sucks is going to make people stop listening to who ever they like? i learned everybody has different tastes dont like it dont listen you have that right

  • Pierre Elliott

NO WHAT HE IS SAYING IS THAT THE ONLY THING THEY ALLOW YOUNG BLACK MEN TO DO IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY IS TO BE IDIOTS SAVAGES AND GANG BANGERS..

THEY ONLY SHOW *ONE* TYPE OF IMAGE. HEY I UNDERSTAND MY PEOPLES GOT
ISSUES BUT WE NEED TO CHANGE THE IMAGES….WHY ARE WE NOT SEEING
BLACK PEOPLE WHO ARE TALKING ABOUT *POSITIVE* THINGS IN LIFE?

ALL WE SEE IS STRIP CLUB BULLSH*T AND SOFT B!TCH NGGAS IN BRAIDS…
ALMOST EVERY HIP HOP DUDE IN THE MAINSTREAM IS A FCKING JOKE.

WAYNE DRAKE BOOSIE WAKA RHIANNA JAY BEYONCE.

THEY REPRESENT BLACKS WHO ARE WILLING TO SELL THIER SOULS FOR $$

YOU GONNA HAVE INTEGRITY OR BE A SLAVE TO THE LOWEST DENOMINATOR?

AND  YOU SAY THESE RAPPERS ARE OLD AND WASHED UP AND LOOKING FOR
PUBLICITY…IS IT PUBLICITY WHEN THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT SOMETHING RELEVANT?

OR YOU ARE TOO FCKING IGNORANT BRAIN DEAD AND STUPIF TO UNDERSTAND
    WHAT HE IS SAYING???

I THINK YOU ARE BRAIN DEAD…..MOST OF YOU WHO WOULD DISAGREE WITH WHAT
HE IS SAYING CAUSE IT IS THE TRUTH!!!!

    EVEN   N.W.A. HAD A MESSAGE………….

AND IF YOU DONT UNDERSTAND EVEN THEM, THEN YOU NEED TO GO TO WALMART
WHERE YA MOMMA WORKS IN THE STOCKROOM, BUY A $7.99 BELT……

AND THEN HANG YOURSELF… CAUSE YOU DOING THE MENTAL LEGWORK
FOR PEOPLE LIKE THE KKK, THE REPUBLICANS.. AND EVERY OTHER RACIST IGNORANT “READY TO HELP THE BLACK MAN KILL HIMSELF” ASSH*LE….

THATS RIGHT MONKEY, DO HIS WORK FOR HIM….

    BAG WEED.

    • jsj23

Look, every post I see with your name, you are telling people what’s
“real” or what’s “gangsta” or calling people names or telling people
about Black this and Black that.  While you are entitled to your
opinion, at least be honest with yourself and know that you are in no
credible position to be taken seriously.  First your name “Pierre”
sounds like some white French wine sipper, second all those White pin-up
girls you got on your Facebook wall that you glorify and want to paint
and hang in your bedroom shows you got issues with Black women (Go read
Eldridge Cleaver’s Soul on Ice) and I can go on and on…Just be honest
with yourself.  You are not fooling anyone.  Stop trying so hard to be
“Real” and all about “Truth”.  Just be yourself.

      • Pierre Elliott

lol here we go again…lol this is laughable.    I can tell your an angry black woman..im not gonna even give you the rise of getting destroyed by me.

just go somewhere and sit down, if I want someone to hold my d*ck for me
i woulda called your name, slave.

      • jsj23

It’s easy to be tough online.  People can read between the lines.  Your still all Pu$$y.  Go read that book I recommended, when your done I will recommend some more.  I will make an intelligent man out of your pu$$y ass.

      • Pierre Elliott

U MUST BE SOME UGLY THUG B1TCH LOOKIN FOR PIPE TO CONQUER OR SOMETHING..

  • Jas1ne

What happened to rappers who was gangsta and could spit, and had albums you could listen to from start to finish? What happened to originality? Cats are garbage now with their recycled rhymes, sounding like the next man. I give every rapper a chance before I judge, but nobody is really standing out anymore.

    • TruthSerum

Thats really what I miss most, cats like Cube & Pac that didnt get all high & mighty but still came off like intelligent dudes, kept it hard but fed you some jewels at the same time. Now everybody too far to the right or the left, either you want the world to hold hands & sing kumbaya or you sound like your mother dropped you on ya head too many times and you rap like your brain dead.

      BRING BACK THE BALANCE

Shout out to Killer Mike tho, there’s a few out there under the radar still have my attention

      • Jas1ne

Underground is where it’s at my dude. All the names Rhymefest mentioned and then some. Killer Mike is the truth, exactly what hip hop needs right now.

  • EQ

young minds are already destroyed if they like that kind of music or get influence from that type of music..the music aint the problem, its something bigger than music..

  • Jeffrey Wilson

Everyone needs to breakout Cubes Death Certficate album and listen to US.  Sometimes I believe the hype, man.  We’re messin up ourselves and blame the white man.

Music now for the most part is lame.  Except for Killer Mike.  He  kicks knowledge and keeps it street.  That’s what music needs now.  Knowledge.  Bring back Chuck D, IceT,

    •  they’ve already corrupted the mind, once you do that you dont have to do anything else and you make the victim appear to have harmed himself when he was programmed to do so, evil yet smart

  • Oknas

You would think with all the trails and tribulations TI went through, he would come with music with more positive messages but it “seems” like hes back to the same ole junk, dude has a wife and a bunch of kids, you would think it’s time to be a good role model for the people.
Its all about money at the end of the day, until we see that money ain’t everything then that’s the spark of change. Most of these wrong doings in our environment is 90% of the time money motivated. poverty in our society is mostly populated by blacks and when you see white people, rapper and ballers on television flashing their money then that creates jealously, anger and hate. Where do you think these feeling and emotions is taking out on? Ourselves, our family and our community. Plus rappers justifying and glorifying negativity. That’s part of the reason why these crimes are committed, its mostly motivated by money. Our system is the problem, its a trap, until we realize that we are all equal that shit ain’t going to change. Money is more important then life to a lot of these dudes, without life you cant even see money in the first place. We need more of an equality in our society, there are 2 many different divisions(race, class, religion) amongst us that we don’t even see each other as the same and that’s a big problem.

  • duh!!! that shit is killings minds, thats the purpose of it, do you know what would happen if the hood was a place of intellect and not ignorance? those in power cant afford that, prison population would go down, and jail is one of the biggest cash cow in america, its not by mistake that MCs talking about something are underground, if your willing to sell out and make yourself as well as your ppl look less than human you can go to the top

  • GuestwithacapG

What do you think about RhymeFest’s blog?

It’s the truth but I don’t blame these artists. I blame the people who support and defend these artists. If people supported the cure instead of the sickness then not only would the good artists get more spins but the destructive ones would change their tune. They make the music they make because that is what sells and that is what gets noticed more. Look no furthert than everybodies favorite biter/drug kingpin rapper Jay Z. He tells you himself “if lyrics sold then truth be told I’d prbably be lyrically Talib Kweli, truthfully I wanna rhyme like common sense…” Everybody spits that crack. Sense when has crack been a good thing?

    • fortydogg

sumthang similar 2 what i would have wrote/ u tellin da tuth

  • kstaxx

These ol school and underground Hip hop heads and their fans can say what they want about this new generation you aint got to like or respect it but the show will go on with or without you, there still is gonna be more albums/mixtapes, more shows/tours, more fans, mo money, mo money,mo money its so many different type of styles to choose from, Im so sick of all this complaining and whining nobody is forcing you to listen to something you dont wanna listen too, nobody is forcin you to buy or download music you dont want to buy or download, if you dont like what you hear on the radio switch the station or turn it off, if you dont like what you see on TV then change the channel or turn it off.

Whether Rhymefest like it or not rappers like Plies, Waka Flocka, Chief Keef and Fat Trel is speaking the truth and reality of whats goin on in the streets with the young generation rather thats in Chicago, Atlanta, Miami, or Wahington DC. The truth of the matter is its alot of killin, gangbangin, jackin and trappin goin on in the hood and its up to parents to take more resposbility in raising their kids and stop expecting rappers to do it for them.

    • Pierre Elliott

Hater A person that develops a strong dislike for another, solely basing their own opinion on personal judgment rather than objective merit. The formation of a hater’s contempt commonly arises from jealously and/or resentment.

    • BTV Global, LLC

you sound dumb and you’re already destroyed and don’t realize it. The sad thing is Waka know the truth because he’s not gangsta and he’s not living what he’s rapping. Haters generally tend to hate people who are doing well.

      •  Well I don’t hate em cuz they’re “doin well” homeboy, I could give a shit less about that.  I hate em cuz they’re ignorant ass Step n’ Fetchit ass NIGGAS that gives society yet ANOTHER reason to view us ALL as fukkin animals….but of course I can’t expect anyone with a mental capacity as low as yours to ever comprehend somethin like that…coon.

I FIND IT OFFENSIVE AS A BLACK PERSON IN AMERICA, THAT ALL THE IMAGES I SEE ARE ALL GANG OR HOOD RELATED. I LIVED IN THE HOOD, I KNOW ITS REAL….BUT THERE ARE OTHER BLACK PEOPLE IN AMERICA WHO DO NOT LIVE IN THE HOOD. THAT TYPE OF LIFE TO THEM IS JUST AS ALIEN AS IT WOULD BE TO A TIGHT WHITE BREAD AMERICAN FROM IOWA.

TO SAY” THE SHOW WILL GO ON WITH OR WITHOUT US, IS STUPID.
AND TO THE BROTHER OR PERSON THAT SAID THAT….

YOU ARE A TRAITOR OR A FAKE PERSON JUST SAYING ANYTHING TO CHANGE MINDS.

Good exchange & +1 to Both!

      • Pierre Elliott

Soul on Ice is for old world thinking nggas. The type of ngga that dont go no where. The type who IS on probation. The type to feel and think
THE WHOLE WORLD IS AGAINST THEM…. I dont come from that world.

I come from the world of: if you know what your doing is wrong, dont be mad at the outcome. Put it to you this way little dogs. I was that
ngga in the streets. Snaking and catching people out there on that late night tip… But you know what? I grew up. I realized that as long as I blamed EVERYONE else, I would BE the problem.

ANd as that could fester in me, I could get mad.
Smoke some trees, and maybe come out side and rob dudes at gun
point..Then make music that talked about it. But you know what?
I traveled, got a bigger perspective. Became a creator instead of a consumer. I saw things as they are in a BOARDROOM.

Where ALL OF THIS IS DISCUSSED IN DEMOGRAPHICS
AND TRENDS… THEY GOT “BEING BLACK” or “BEING A NGGA”
allllllllllllllllllll in figured out. SO they already know what shoes they want you to buy for the next 45 months. SO while you think im “being”
        tough/….You dont know tough.

Like my mans said in a song I produced.

I KNOW DRUG KINGS THATL HIRE THUG NGGAS TO
        MURK A TEAM——-

        YOU TALKIN BOUT DEATH–

AINT EVER SEEN A MURDA SCENE…

  • messias3

hip hop is alive and well ….look at the fans type….. i love it …. peace

  • he strechin I rather niggas be rappiun than actually out kickin in your door. the bigger problem is why our youth would be able to be tricked into the system by some shit the hear on the radio. We need to breed a culture of self accountablity. Rappers are not role models or politicans. Og’s, and parents should have more influence on the youth than a puppet rapper, lupe or waka etc.

  • Bumpy Johnson

talkin all that ish just to jump on the band wagon a year later..him and prodigy

  • Dadon850

Rhymefst is correct. Chief Keef is a coon, Rick Ross is a fat phoney and Wake Flocka may have down syndrome. Notice how cats that don’t sell records always seem to stay on the radio?? Ross still don’t have a platinum album yet he’s everywhere. Once the machine gets behind you, they use you to help fill their prison cells. Prison is big business.

    • kstaxx

Rhymefest is broke enough said, who really takes the opinion of someone whose broke and irrelevant? not me!! money talks bullshit walks a thousand miles.

      • Spoken just like a TRUE Sambo…your dumbass would probably sell your mama and your first born if the price was right.  Man SIT your goof troop ass on down somewhere boy…

      • kstaxx

Hater Someone who is enraged by evidence of another’s success and as a result has to try to one up the successful person or simply put the successful person down. Hating is much more than just being jealous of the person who has done well. The hater would find much satisfaction in seeing some form of misfortune come to that person.

      • Dadon850

Damn, you are one dumb nigga!!

      • kstaxx

I DONT REALLY CARE WHAT YOU TALKIN BOUT DUCK SAUCE

      • kstaxx

Haters have a special link to one another and they tend to fuel each others hate by hating in groups. It may be a form of stress relief or something entirely different but they do seem to become happy from the escalation of hate for a person that arises in these groups.

      • How do you know hes broke. He wrote stuff that you dont even know abut. Bang Bang Bang what the hell is that. Smokin on 3hunna. And you wonder why these kids cant get a job or respect. Stop using my name.. STAXXVISION!!!  dumbass

      • kstaxx

        You lame as shit boy!!

      • kstaxx

Hater A person who feels anger and/or jealousy for someone who has succeeded in something they have worked hard for. A being who speaks badly,and/or takes negative actions in attempt to create problems for a successful person.

    • kstaxx

Hater A person that simply cannot be happy for another person’s success. So rather than be happy they make a point of exposing a flaw in that person.

  • kstaxx

Preachin ass Rhymefest save it for the pulpit Rev!!

  • Catch22

I think Rhymefest makes a valid point that will most likely go unheard however. The small percentage that control the money will continue to push their agenda and the disenfranchised will continue to live in the turbulence created by it. The hood is never going away in this country. A black mind educated and thinking for itself is a danger to the establishment and would ultimately become infectious leading to a shift in power. Gone are the days of power to the people. Now we  bob our heads in ignorance and smile as the 808 claps. Not all of us are ignorant and blind however and the change no matter how small is coming. Check out the new artist that have recently came out. J.Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Lupe Fiasco, MURS, and so many others. The truth is though that until we as a whole decide to support the opposite of whats popular currently it will never change. Black Men Stand UP!!!!!!

Hater A person whose jealousy of another person success or achievements makes them verbally nit-pick any flaws no matter how small or just make up flaws in order to somehow try and belittle the successful person.

    • LOL  Mufukkas like you kill me with all this “applaud em regardless of what they do” bullshit…..I bet you’d expect your kid to get a medal just for participatin too huh, no child left behind right??  The fukk outta here.  You niggas love to toss that word hater around cuz it’s the ONLY straw you have to grasp onto in these type of discussions.  Y’all never offer a rebuttal of what it is these buffoon rappers actually bring to the table, cuz deep down you know they don’t bring SHIT but more fukked up pipe dreams to sell but you refuse to admit it.  Y’all’s ONLY argument is always the money they bamboozle remedial mufukkas like you into THINKIN they got, y’all defend that shit like they got you on the payroll or somethin….LOL and smh.  NEWS FLASH YOUNGIN:  These rap niggas whose asses your lips are preoccupied with now, in a few years THEY’LL be the “broke, washed up niggas” and they ONLY thing they’ll be remembered by is their musical catalog, and with that in mind I feel sorry for em in advance cuz only then will they realize the damage they caused, once all the camera’s and rented shit’s gone…..shit that’s considerin they’re even remembered at all.

Intelligence won’t sell because you have to have people that recognizes what intelligence is. You can’t dance to intelligence, you can’t bump intelligence, you can’t have sex with intelligence. Intelligence involves thinking. Rhymefest is a thinker. I don’t like the term conscious rapper, unless being conscious means being alive, being a thinking man, then I don’t see a problem. The radio is doing the job of promoting an escape from thought. And doing a great job of it. The balance is missing. Radio and the record labels are dictating what people should listen to by playing the same music over and over again. They don’t give you the choice of Rhymefest or a Chief Keef. Sure, we don’t have to listen to it, but again intelligence recognizes intelligence so to the people who don’t know a thoughtful rapper when they see one, it’s like where to start? If they have to search for 1 then they must not be hot. As far as prison is concerned, I think Rhymefest is right about rappers being the spokesman for prison another place to keep us right where we belong if we would only think before we act.
