50 Cent Speaks Out On The Work Ethic Of Lloyd Banks And Tony Yayo

(AllHipHop News) Back in May, G-Unit founder 50 Cent publicly stated that both Lloyd Banks and Tony Yayo “need to get themselves together,” now in a recent interview with XXL, the mogul, rapper, and actor is still not satisfied with their work ethic.

“They just sit there and wait,” he told XXL. “When someone works for you, you have the habit of dealing with things by not dealing with them. You may get in the regimen of coming over and doing it for them.

“I actually haven’t spoke to ‘em very much,” he continued. “I’m to fault for that, though. I think I disabled them.”

When asked to explain his “disabling” comment, 50 Cent said, “I did so much for them that they don’t have a continuous work ethic. They got both of those tapes out there, but did you see any visuals? Anything? There’s certain things that the new guy is doing to create momentum or energy.”

In the two months since 50 Cent’s original comments, both Banks and Yayo have released mixtapes in the form of V6: The Gift and Sex, Drugs and Hip-Hop.

Pressed for further explanation of their respective mixtapes, 50 Cent said, “Dropping mixtapes…that was my ’02 strategy. That’s 2002 marketing. That’s old. You did nothing if you did that. Look what I’ve done with The Lost Tape or The Big 10. There’s videos for everything that was on the tapes. If you’re going to just wing it and drop a mixtape…pick the highlights that people like most and shoot ‘em.”

50 Cent recently released “New Day” featuring Dr. Dre and Alicia Keys as the first single from his upcoming fifth studio album, StreetKing Immortal, scheduled to drop on November 13.

old news, same 50..how bout you comment on that free “5” album that was trash, and also about NAS new album…dude used to say dumb shit bout nas, and nas never paid him any mind…but nas has the best album out now, not only RAP, but OUT now…and his music did the talking..dude could have pulled a prodigy and put out a book bout his divorce, money probs, etc…but he took it to the studio like REAL artists USED to do it….50 just put out that album…you and your jew——ish dad jimmy made up, lets see what the music is hitting on mane…no more excuses….even banks put out a mixtape on the low without responding to your lil comments…whats up with the new music….not even “jocking” as yall would say but shout out to NAS again for the album….oh and 50 your a BOSS…right so be that, and quit whining bout being one…

    • Lyve Wire

that line about being a BOSS is dead on!!! 100%

    • King Cold

not hatin but 5 was a nice album. i dont think yall really listening

    • You have a good point Nas album has been no 1 for awhile now. He brought hiphop back. I feel good about that. 50 has not been consistent himself his beats are pure garbage. His topics but his lyrics are shit I mean not horrible but predictable boring I am going to shoot you lyrics.

  • hard out here.

  • Ravishing Quinc Rude

Yo, real talk, I had no clue Lloyd Banks and Tony Yayo had mixtapes out.

  • kstaxx

I must say I feel 50 Cent on this one, I alwayz felt like if an artist gonna drop a mixtape I dont jus wanna hear it, I want to see the visuals of at least a few tracks that stand out the most. Jus releasing mixtapes nowadays dont cut it you have to approah it as you would a full length album with visuals, vlogs etc.

  • hoeyuno

rap money isn’t what it once was. And if fif isn’t touring then yayo isn’t making money. banks has a little following and could probably do something at a new label. But I hope them 2 were good with there g unit chips cause its never gonna be 2003 again for them dudes. at least they got a longer run then buck

    • maybe not for fif but the opp is aways there for banks and yayo both … i remember a time when folks counted fif out back in his how to rob days … IJS 😉

  • DLOUPO

50 CENT IS WASHED GOING BROKE AND WILL NEVER PUT OUT A HIT RECORD AGAIN

    • new day is a hit 😉

      • DLOUPO

        Its a hit where?

So 50 Cent’s answer to the 2002 mixtape strategy is to use the 1995 strategy of making videos. Banks and Yayo just aren’t interesting people. Nobody wants to see them in an interview, nobody wants to know what they’re up to. If you don’t establish yourself AT LEAST as an entertaining person, why would anybody care? Videos don’t do that, especially the sh*t they would come up with.

    • 1995 strategy are you serious ….?? side note what goes around comes around … rick ross got ads all over this site trying to sell a pair of reeboks that came out in the 90s …. IJS 😉

      • Big Ice Bastardman ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

Considering all the money that is invested in a music video, and the fact that music television is a pale shadow of what it once was, the idea of putting that much money and energy into what is essentially a YouTube video is a huge waste and doesn’t generate nearly the buzz you woould imagine.

  • King Cold

i understand where this dude is comin from..hell if u got wack cats like tyga and soulja boy doin mixtapes and droppin hella vids why cant lloyd or yayo do the same. answer is….laziness….they got rich and didnt know how to act(hood nigga 101) these new cats are on features other cats vids and these two aint doin neither and they have doe so no excuses get to work. dont end up like Buck

    • i wouldnt say thier lazy … banks isnt known for dropping visuals like that but yayo has ……. one thing i was thinking maybe thier mixtape budgets aint as big as fifs but then again thier star power is big enuff to get someone to shoot a video for free or for the super low …..

  • Rahsaan Wright

Alot of cats think that they are going to be able to stay on top forever. That’s not the case. There is a season for everything. Most folks try to milk a dry cow instead of diversifying. Plus we don’t believe in putting money away for a rainy day. Most of us spend our money of bull and then when the money stops coming in like it used to all we have is some gold or platnium chain to our name.

  • lolololololol i been saying to banks and fifty why aint they shooting videos for cold corner 2 or v6…lmao i got my answer and fifty, you are a straight clown b, you brought these dudes in the game they went through this ride with you, now its your job since u the “g unit general” to make em pop, face it yayo wont ever pop, but banks is the only thing u got, if you lose bank$ you’re done fif…HAAAAA

    • kind of true but you can only carry the weight of another mans issues for so long …..

  • dayleedumped

    fiddy pimpin these hoes

  • JaffarR

He’s right. The game has changed a whole lot. YouTube and videos have become a major factor. Back in 2002, a mixtape was all an artist needed to create some buzz on the streets. Nowadays, that does nothing. Look at Game’s numerous tapes. He dropped heat in the form of mixtapes a little before his R.E.D. album, but still couldn’t muster up enough buzz to gain a hit single. Same goes for every artist. 50 keeping it real. Banks and Yayo are like his younger brothers. He’s guiding them…. Maybe he needs to actually sit down with them and talk.

  • Tony G.

Fif actually makes a point here..I doubt if you ever get another studio album from Yayo…he will get his chips only when Fif tours and he’s the hype man…LB can still make money off of touring becuz his albums were cool and he has mixtape classic songs as well as some cool cameos…G-Unit as it once was will never be the same.

  • hopefully kidd kidd dont fall in the same trap cause hes getting that same treatment that yayo and banks used to get

    • Craig

      yep

  • I feel what 50 is saying, but 50 cent is known for dissing other rappers and making up fake beef to create a buzz….Not every rapper wants to create fake beef to sell records, Banks and Yayo are street dudes if they have beef it is going to be REAL and people might get hurt……..50 you fed these dudes for quite some time now, but when they are on contract, they cannot do things independently…….It’s sounds great, that rappers should do more to promote their own projects but when they sign contracts and they have a boss like 50 cent who creates beef and drama with other hot rappers, it’s hard for G-unit to go make friends with the enemies….It’s like 50 cent has his G-unit people trapped in a box with no way out.

Now 50 cent is lashing back at them to create a buzz for his own music…Not too many people see it, but I do…….I am sure 50 cent is going to bring the same bullshit scheme to boxing.

    • Craig

      I see it.

  • Soooo…do the folks at Def Jam or Interscope expect their artist to put out their own videos for their material? Isn’t that the label head’s responsibility to guide his artist to the best of his knowledge to make a profit? 50’s in charge of the label. Everytime he fails he’s full of excuses. For the most part, G-Unit’s music is about as hot as G-Unit’s clothing (and that aint hot). 50 sold a ton of records in 7-8 years ago. He had a good run and has done well in other business ventures, but his time in the music industry is up (Basically ever since Ye eithered him in ’07). Taking industry advice from 50 in today’s marketplace is like getting in the studio with Stevie J expecting to get a hit record. In both cases you’re playing yourself. I actually like most of the stuff Banks has put out in the last few years. He would do better on another label.

  • shockman203

I respect what Fif is saying but Banks last 2 mixtapes was better than Fif’s and if he think those new people he rocking with gonna ever get a deal he crazy Banks is better than all of them on their best flow Fif riding high with all the new deals he got going on right now but lets see what’s his excuse when November come he he only move like 250000 as a whole not first week but as a whole rap is small right now and Fif was the one yelling ggggg-unit till the end now some ain’t rocking hard Fif wanna kick them off his boat remember Fif could’nt get with Dre he was going all stupid on the blogs I haven’t seen Banks doing that the fact is more people rather work with Banks than him because he saying the same think in ever song now listen to the Big 10 and the Lost Tape and u can c for ur self I was the a bis Fifty fan in 1999 now he just wanna be friends with Oprah she did the show with u now check out here ipod playlist still no Fifty (In The Club) don’t count even rock fans have that song

  • 50 better act like he know man, them niggas are only entourage. -__- they not even selling headphones for 50… wtf are u here for bruh.. u got niggas thats waiting for opportunities… wasteful as shit.. n like a genuine BOSS this nigga 50 is taking they slack n branding it his fault by giving to much… u rotten ass niggas..

  • I will say this Yayo is and always will be a hype man …. hes the flavor flav of G-Unit ….therefore you should not have ex[ectations of someone like him … hes not tryin to get better hes 40 + years old he is what he is …. Banks has more potential at 29 than everyone … i feel what 50 saying on the mixtape with Banks he should be releasing independent videos V6 did like 75k on dat piff in like 12 hrs …. n now its stuck … release videos to make those who didnt hear it wanna go get it…… n then Banks has also lost another family member so i can feel why his “grind” may b on a low … 50 said himself they been thru this before over the same type a issue and 50 feels like its best to work thru it but thats easy for him to say cause when he lost his mom he was a kid …. 50 is paying ppl like wack ass Genisus and Kidd Kidd too much attention Banks as went Plat and Gold on everything thus far and to be honest for what hes saying about Banks and Yayo kidd kidd and these other artist arent doing anything for they own buzz either…. if it aint featuring 50 i dont hear from Kidd Kidd….i think Banks and Yayo can also look at it like we did profit from the emergence of G-Unit but we were here too so how u gonna waste all this money on these dudes.Look at the Trav thing … where is he… wasted money…. Hot Rod… released some single not a album after 7 years… waste of money …. so why not invest in some ppl actually like … I dont agree with everything he does … i think Buck and Game scarred him from finding that new hot artist in fear that they will turn on him …. 50 need to get it together …. least him and Banks do …. Yayo need to stick to hypin shows
