Jay-Z and Beyonce Become Music’s First Billionaire Couple, Reddit Co-Founder Wants Jay-Z’s Nets’ Share

(AllHipHop News) General rule of thumb: once a couple starts buying private islands for one another it should be assumed they are obscenely wealthy. The winning streak Hip Hop’s power couple seem to be on continues as International Business Times reports that Jay-Z and Beyonce are “pop music’s first billionaire couple.”

The couple have been constant fixtures on Forbes’ annual The World’s Highest Paid Celebrity Couples List for years, ranking at #2 and #1 in 2011 and 2012 respectively raking in $150 million in the two years combined.

Recently, Beyonce became the face of H&M’s summer bikini collection and reportedly made $116 million on that deal alone. Jay-Z, still reaping the returns of his historic 2008 $150 million deal recently signed a multi-year, worldwide partnership with Universal Music Group.

The Carters’ money is not the only asset on people’s minds these days. The co-founder of Reddit, Alexis Ohanian told Bloomberg News today (April 17th) that he is very interested in buying Jay-Z’s minority stake in the Brooklyn Nets. Jay-Z is expected to sell his share in the Brooklyn Nets in order to become a certified player agent, especially after his newly formed Roc Nation Sports signed New York Yankee superstar Robinson Cano.

The 30 year old internet entrepreneur further elaborated on why he would want to own part of a basketball team on in a post on Reddit’s NBA subreddit:

“I’m a diehard Skins (/r/nfl knows) fan, but I’ve come to terms with never getting a share out of Dan Snyder. I realize it’s a token amount. But I actually live in Brooklyn and I’m pretty good with the internet — I reckon that could be helpful.

Both Jay-Z and Beyonce are reportedly releasing albums this year and have tours scheduled with Beyonce beginning her Mrs. Carter World Tour this past Monday (April 15th) at the Kombank Arena in Belgrade, Serbia.

  • Only thing I read in this… $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

  • Q.

“The co-founder of Reddit, Alexis Ohanian told Bloomberg News today (April 17th) that he is very interested in buying Jay-Z’s minority stake in the Brooklyn Nets.”

Why? Jigger only owns a 1/15th% (.067%) share of the Nets. That comes to a whopping…hold on…(punches figures in calculator)…Wait for it….

    $350,000! That’s like ONE Maybach.

Billionaire, huh? How is son calling himself an “owner”with only 350K invested in a $5 Billion franchise? Ol’ cheap rich n!gga LOL

    • ġhostdirtyb.

      u stupid

      • BossBeaux

        As F*ck

      • Q.

Thanks. Your pic is infinitely more stupid though.

    • bigdoe6

Hey u got a point. Had to do them numbers myself. He still paid though. lol.

      • Tre C

He invested $350K. like imafoolboy said, .67% of 5 billion is much more than that

      • Q.

I made a a typo. But his share IS worth only ~$350K.

He didn’t make squat off the Nets, because he barely invested.

    • ImaFoolBoy

well if the franchise is worth $5 Billion obviously his share is worth a lot more than 350k…MORE LIKE $33,500,000 which is 0.67% of 5 Billion…go back to school nigga…or at least learn how to work a calculator if you gon hate on niggaz

      • Weedras

        lol! knowledge!!! lol!

      • low key

thats not knowledge yall both dumb because the nets is not even worth 5 billion dollars not even close they worth 400 million at best making jz share worth no more then a mill if he lucky to get that

      • water_ur_seeds

doesnt jay own the stadium though???

      • Q.

        A: HELL No.

Jay barely owns stock in the team (1/15th %).

The stadium itself is worth WAY more than the team.

      • water_ur_seeds

im just going by what he said in ‘open letter’… just googled it, he owns part of the barclays center… he was exaggerating again…

      • Q.

        Overselling…as usual.
At least Diddy gets dividends (allegedly) from the brands he hocks.

But nah, Jig doesn’t own the stadium…maybe some season ticket seats at best. LOL

      • Weedras

dude you don’t know what you’re talking about… first of all the Barclays Center is said to be valued at $741 million and that is now being called into question, the City and Forest Ratner which built the stadium are still in dispute as to the stadium’s true value but not worth Billions as you’re saying… you need to Read more ma dude cause it really seems your just talking and don’t know what you’re really talking about… and if you read any financial news lately you would have seen it being reported that he is selling his stock for ownership in the stadium… do research dude..

      • Q.

Now, before you play yourself further by reacting without reading…show me where I stated the Barclays was worth billions?? …Oh, that’s right, I didn’t. And I did research, which is how I got the figures in the first place. Follow your own advice and…

        “READ MORE MA DUDE”

      • Weedras

did you claim that the Nets are worth 5bil? which is wrong… so according to your assumption that the stadium is worth WAY more then it has to be valued in the billions right? ok then.. The Nets are worth approx. $520 Mil the stadium according to the developer is worth $111 million… the city says $740mil and that number is not WAY more… is it?

      • Q.

“did you claim that the Nets are worth 5bil?”

Let’s see…did I? It’s ironic that you’re telling me to “read more” when you refuse to do so yourself. If you READ the entire exchange, you would see that I made a typo–the figure should have read “$.5 Billion.” Case closed. But I guess reacting is more satisfying than READING. LOL So, all this stanning you’re doing for another dude who gives less than a sh!t about you is accomplishing exactly what, now? OK THEN.

      • Weedras

calm yourself dude…i use my phone to view this so i couldn’t see the entire thread… and for the record i’m not ‘stanning’ for nobody i’m a fan of people talking facts and sense and not just spewing mental diarrhea from their mind which you’re doing… you still haven’t clarified your exaggerated remarks… Nets are worth $522mil , Stadium’s worth between 740 and 111 mil… i’m all about proper info not misinfo.. you’re going hard at a dude who’s making money and not giving a shit about you is more embarrassing… you claim he’s exaggerating but all that you’ve said are exaggerations.. so as i said get your facts right dude and go easy on the diarrhea of the mind…

      • Q.

Now you’re just being ignorant. Nothing you said has excited me yet, duke–I’ve been laughing at your stansmanship since your first reply. LOL You say I’m going hard…not really, I’m just shooting down your BS. In my original post I said, and I quote:

“Jigger only owns a 1/15th% (.067%) share of the Nets. That comes to…$350,000”

Now, I don’t see how you’re confusing a plain FACT with “mental diarrhea” or “exaggeration.” Look it up. I also said that the Nets were worth $522 Million. So, again, WTF are you talking about? Quit being lazy and read the whole thread.

And, trust me, I could give a shit less about Jay-Z. I don’t feel any particular way about dude. I made an observational comment/joke. But I should’ve known you Jay-stans would get hot and bothered by it, defending cat’s honor like he’s blood. LOL Some of y’all act real feminine over this dude–I don’t know why. He doesn’t give a fcuk about you–“you’re a customer, crony.” Look, I know you’re trying to save face because you played yourself, but it’s ok to admit you made a mistake, dude. That’s what real men do (I’m assuming you’re a man?). I admitted my typo, so just admit that you fugged up…No biggie. Jay won’t be thanking you in his liner notes for throwing your cape on for him. LOL

      • Weedras

from what i’ve been reading he has turned most of his stock into equity into the stadium..

      • Weedras

i know the team isn’t worth 5bil….it’s the math that’s knowledge cause its correct… the most valuable franchise in sports is Real Madrid, followed by Manchester United, then the Yankees and the Cowboys… no NBA team is in the top ten so i know all of that.. as a matter of fact no team is near 5bil…

      • Q.

TYPO: $.5 Billion (Approximately 522 Million to be more exact).

MY BAD. However, his share is worth ~$350,000. That number was correct.
But you could have looked this up yourself, right?

So who’s dumb here…me for the typo or YOU for following me and not fact-checking? LOL

        See how that works?
Thanks for the counter-hate though. You can die happy now.

All thanks to Biggie. Both Diddy and Jay Z success are because of Biggie.

    • DLOUPO

        That argument is so 1997!

Would Chief Keef stand a chance if Big was alive?

      • He wouldnt have to;theyre not the same genre .or era.

  • hoeyuno

Shiiiiit I wonder how dash takes in the good news.

    • Well, at least he is not pimped and could possible be a dead man for doing the wrong thing.

    • PliggaNease

dash shouldnt have been such an “A” hole and burned every bridge he ever crossed.

  • Well, the illuminati won’t make them billionaires on their own and this is hype to try and call them billionaires. The illuminati keeps played out people in the spot light and makes sure that initiated political peoples keeps their names mentioned above all others in their fields, but allowing them to gain fortunes that give them power, they will never get. Notice how they must stay entertainers…

    • scott nofriends

wtf illuminati you have too much time on your hands

    • Stop with all the Illuminati bs. We have enough obstacles and real issues to deal with. There’s no need to add an imaginary one to that list. The Illuminati and satan aren’t the one’s making laws that are designed to lock up as many Black men as they can. They aren’t trying to disenfranchise minority voters. They aren’t keeping your wages low while rewarding a few at the top with the profit from your blood sweat and tears. They aren’t destroying our neighborhoods with liquor stores and fast food joints at every corner. They aren’t killing our youth for wearing a hoodie and baggy jeans and then claiming self defense. The people doing all this are real. When we’re not focused on reality the real life villain’s get away and continue their plots to oppress an underclass to enrich themselves and their friends. Rand Paul, Michele Bauchmann, Lindsey Gram, Charles & David Koch, Paul Ryan, Grover Norquist, Wayne Lapierre, Rush Limbaugh, and Rupert Murdock are REAL people causing unimaginable problems for the Black community and this country as a whole. Not satan. Not the Illuminati. Wake up!

      • While I don’t know who satin is (Is he a pimp?), the illuminati are doing those things that you listed! I only use the word illuminati so that people get an idea of what I am talking about. If I just came out and said JEWS and their paid off minions, then even more of your kind would be stupefied.

  • RichFromBX

the bigger question is if they’re paying their “fair share” or do they have their money protected in the same way as the CEOs that are vilified…chances are they’re protecting their money in the same way but are better marketing their donations (tax write-offs)…the Jay Z d!ck riders can call me a hater as much as you want but those are the facts…they pay someone a crazy amount of money to make sure they don’t part with anymore of their money than they have to…

  • @rashaun james Hard work? No amount of hard work could ever merit a billion dollars. It’s luck, connections, and the ability to take advantage of a system that fosters enormous wealth inequality in this country. They are both very talented people but hard work has nothing to do with obtaining that kind of wealth. People need to understand that there’s a finite number of resources in our financial system. When someone becomes a billionaire there’s less money available for everyone else. Billionaires are hoarders and a threat to the middle class as well as those who live below the poverty line. I hate to single Jay and B out because they aren’t the only one’s doing this nor did they create the system that allows it. They’re both very intelligent and pretty good role models for young African Americans. I just want to make people aware of this huge problem that seems to be growing exponentially.
