Hip-Hop Rumors: Kendrick Lamar Pops Off At Meek Mill In NYC!

Kendrick Lamar is in NYC right now – DISSING MEEK MILL. HA! Well, check it. If all the people that he actually named, Meek is the only one that responded in any lyrical fashion. And, when he did reply, Meek wasn’t issuing a death blow. It was just OK. When he said “Kendrick you next” I was expecting fire and fury. ANYWAY.

Kendrick must be like:

This is not to take sides, but to analyze the actions.

Check out what Kendrick said just a few moments ago:

Thoughts? Is Kendrick feeling himself too much or is operation world domination in full effect? Take the poll!

  • Big Red-Office Hrs: 9 to 5

Meek ain’t lyrical enough for k.dot

    • K Dot ain’t lyrical enough for Papoose or Joe Budden….

      • #SELFCUTSYSTEM

        Papoose response was not good

      • Is that you K Dot?

        LOL~N

Seriously though, Pap roasted K Dot, IMHO, as far as shots fired / battle diss, Pap ripped him.

      • ImFred ImRico

that elementary school homo talk was corny man. That Big Sean shit was decent though.

      • He tore Sean up, but the talk about feminizing the BlackMan via Hip Hop was real spill. IMHO

      • Mos High

Some people just dont like papoose but keep 100 he dug into Kendrick, really think Kendrick would respond to Papoose , really come on. He slammed Big Sean as a side meal the other day as well. Papoose will never been on main stream radio but he is main stream to real hip hop heads.

      • the nigga papoose said we laughing at you like hee hee hee. stop it 5.

      • $18592567

Pap flow is wack and old school. He need to update his shit like all the greats do… Biggie before Ready To Die and Jay-Z before Reasonable Doubt are prime examples.

      • This ^^

      • Matt Swan

Seriously? Pat killed it. Kendrick knew it too because he picked on week malls instead. In NYC he knows who he can and can’t mess with. And the rest of it was just some boasting to pump him and the crowd up

      • STPizzle

Paps response was good…But dude was working with feelings which made it not good…Plus he was not called out which made it irrelevant…Plus I just don’t like the n*&^#…Lol

      • Ryan Jackson

Who cares about either one of those lames?

      • $18592567

Pap got bars, but his flow is kinda weak like Cassidy. Budden’s got flow and bars, but K. Dot would punish him in the long run…

      • REALLY?

Budden is his own worse enemy, but his control response was one of the best, while Paps was one of the most brutal.
Cassidy & Pap need beats, but K Dot can’t handle Pap.

      • lol …he said Joe Budden

      • I know…and that’s bad!

        LOL~N

  • nomikal

He dont want it with Lupe, though. Go after a lesser known rapper like week nails

    • Ryan Jackson

Obviously he’s only responding to the rappers he named in the song…everybody else is just wasting time & energy.

    • $18592567

Lupe nice, but K. Dot will overpower him.

dis nicca ASS, I liked his verse on vibe remix and ofcourse Hov killed him on that too!

    • hsc179

Never.Hov verse was coo at best.K.Dot bodied the track after that.

      • DJ7

Didn’t Canibus teach you cats anything in 2nd round ko…”Yo, I’ma let the world know the truth…you don’t want me to shine…you studied my lines and you laid your vocals after mine…that’s a b!tch move…something that a homo rapper will do…so when you say that you platinum…you only dropping clues” ….real spill…every dope rapper is capable of doing this weak sh*t champ…stop buggin

    • rocnation30

      I kno

  • Dadon850

Meek Mill is low budget garbage. J. Cole is on Kendrick level lyrically, but I don’t see him responding. The guys Kendrick called out are not battle rappers and Kendrick knows it. Funny how all the forgotten thirsty rappers responded overnight! Lol

  • Global_Mission

K.Dot got these rappers “feeling some type of way” *rich homie quan voice..smh

NWA, DEATH ROW, and AFTERMATH kinda covers the late 80’s, early to mid 90’s and 2000’s imho…

      • IToldYoMommaYouAintSh_t

and WHO from Aftermath other than Dre is west and made dope music?

      • Taihair Djehuty

        Dogg Pound debuted number 1.

      • IToldYoMommaYouAintSh_t

word, I stated that in the other post with the number 1’s

      • Big Dog

And now the only one out of the east coast that can move any units is Jay-Z. The south still dominating the charts, and Kendrick outselling the whole east coast. Time to stop living in the past and time for the east coast to step their game up and deliver some hits like in the 90s.

      • jdeath

word. Its almost 2014 and they still talking bout the “90’s” thats 20 years ago. It was a good era (98 year my fav.) but it had some wack stuff too.

Make hits its simple. Plus Its a new generation coming up you have to adapt. They dont wanna hear a simple beat with somebody spitting for 4 minutes straight with no hook smh

      • IToldYoMommaYouAintSh_t

C’mon…the man said ‘shift regions”taking it back west’…My question is when was it really ever completley back west in the first place. Shit was always shared on both coasts…except for like 2 years when Deathrow popped off…and even then tribe and a shit load of others were wreckin shit. Now one nigga got it poppin from the west and they are making hits? Fab hits…Nicki hits…Jay hits…Nas arguably the best album next to Kendrick that year…now name 3 or 4 recent west coast artists with those numbers and then I can understand how u can say Cali is making more hits than NY even right now

      • Donny P

        Fab washed..
Nicki? LOL she on 14th minute of fame, she already losing appeal to her audience
        Jay of course
        Nas? Eh.. ok

      • IToldYoMommaYouAintSh_t

If she is then it is what it is…but for the past 4 years she did her thing. U still didn’t name 4 artists that put up those numbers out west…yeah I thought so.

      • Taihair Djehuty

Cali went the Texas route long time ago. Most dudes ain’t giving the majors the time of day out here. Too much politics and BS. Local DJ’s not supporting local acts anymore and the only place one can get any real air play is L.A. The only real radio station for hip-hop (modern) is power 106 and even there, all you here on the radio is the top five on the charts. Independent hustle for now. There aren’t any outlets for West Coast rappers even in our own background. So most are throwing a middle finger to it all

      • IToldYoMommaYouAintSh_t

and the same thing happened to NY

      • Benafranklin

You went factual on a brother I like and respect that but it’s much more then numbers its influence as a whole the west changed the whole dynamics of HIPHOP simply. Impact and influence has everything to do with my point. Yea you can make millions but does any body remember any of puffy or made songs? Or are wild still jamming to murder was the case, gin and juice, ain’t know fun host of other songs. The west is the pivotal point of change. Yes we have the almighty Jay which might I say wouldn’t of been relevent if we wouldn’t of lost 2 PAC or biggie. My point is that it matters not how long or which coast has made more money its about impact and influence which was my point. But you stated some strong arguments we can share info any time

      • IToldYoMommaYouAintSh_t

The west had a HUGE impact on Hip-hop. But that pivotal change does not signify running the game. It signifies an impact which was dope. No one can discredit the west coast’s impact. I’m a fan of mad West Coast artists’ but at the same time the West never solely ran the game unless we are talking about when The Chronic and Doggfather came out (2 years). AND if Jay didn’t carry the torch on a commercial level then who else in Hip Hop was there to spit lyricism and appeal to the masses at that time. But as in today…everyone is talking greasy about NY but has yet to tell me 4 artists from the west that outsold Nicki, Nas, Jay, and Fab. Not sure about ASAP Rocky’s numbers so I leave him out…but there are artists that get main stream air play yet there is a big pile of shit thrown at NY to make themselves feel better, but the numbers do not add up. So if we are talking recent impact…I think Cali is on the come up but which 4 or 5 Cali artists have had equal impact within the last 5 years to be talkin so greasy? I’ll wait and if they can’t name em then I think it is time to stop shittin on NY

      • MADNEWYORKER914

@”IToldYoMommaYouAintSh_t”, they can’t answer your question because the west has been irrelevant for a long time!!! “GAME” had to phukk with the east to get the notoriety that he received, and look how long he lasted??? Not to long after he left “G-Unit”!!!

      • KILL NEW YORK RAPPERS

YA MAMA TOLD U THAT AND THAT BITCH LYIN

      • IToldYoMommaYouAintSh_t

He was dissing Pap…he saying there one dude who has to understand there’s levels to this shit….Hes saying that pap should understand hes not considered as competition and hes not gonna even mention him…at the same time hes throwing a lil jab at meek

    • HalfPast7

Man I think son jus don’t got the bars to go at Pap or Ortiz so he makin up all these lame ass excuses. When Canibus went at LL, LL ain’t give a frrruck about whether Canibus was on the radio, had a hit, or if he had an album. All he knew was that son came for his neck n he had to hold his shit down. So nah, Kendrick lost this battle IMO, even if he decide to respond to niggas he still lost for takin forever. Ortiz took 24 hrs not even, I can’t agree wit these dudes bein irrelevant, Lebron ain’t gonna like a no name street nigga washin him on the court so y would Kendrick not respond?!

      • Taihair Djehuty

How did K.Dot lose? His verse is taking forever? Dudes been touring non-stop. He was in Europe when everybody was dropping their control responses. Not everyone runs to the studio as soon as someone puts their name in their mouth. Not all hip-hop responses have to or have ever come immediately after. And LL’s diss was on the same song as Canibus’s, who was then a rising star rather than a fallen one. He heard the original verse (4,3,2,1) before the song was even finalized. Canibus didn’t respond till several months later as that diss was released in early ’98 if i remember correctly.

      • HalfPast7

Maybe YOU heard it months after but as I remember it was pretty quick because it hit Clue tapes before it ever hit the radio or store shelves. Also, remember that niggas back then couldn’t just run to their attic or their boy’s studio n make a song they can now. He was under Wyclef so he had to go thru all the standard shit just to get into the studio. People nowadays can upload it as soon as they finish the track. All I’m sayin is son shoulda been responded if he that nice. I like Kendrick he my favorite outta everyone he mentioned (2nd to Jay Elec tho) but lets be serious he gonna jus not say nuttin to Ortiz or Buddens jus cuz they not on the radio?! And he still come out the clear winner?! Nah b YOU may see it like that but alotta people don’t. Even Jay went at Jayo Felony back in the day after he tried to say suttin slick.

      • Taihair Djehuty

why would he say anything to Ortiz or Budden’s? What would be his beef with them. Slaugtherhouse and Black Hippy been looking to get into the studio together for a minute. Budden and Ab-Soul are cool with each other. Kendrick’s control verse wasn’t even about beef or any sort of attack. The only person that seemed to take it personal was Pap.

      • HalfPast7

True, that’s what I disliked about Pap and Cass’s response, they started talkin that street mess n shooting shit or wateva wateva and it wasn’t necessary. But of course people gonna take it to heart, even if he meant that KONY line in a different context (which I still think is BS he knew what he was doing) he HAD to know there was gonna be some backlash. Why would he respond to Ortiz or Buddens you ask? Because that’s the game he signed up for, it’s the game he chose to instigate, and he gonna have to clean it up. Idk I guess I jus seen enough battles wit dudes that protocol always seem to be followed and now that rappers have called his bluff I can’t understand that whole “oh niggas is irrelevant I ain’t gotta respond” mentality, that’s like saying “yea I got punched in the face but I ain’t gonna do nuttin cus I get more hoes anyway”. He ain’t even acknowledge Ortiz response when he knew he sent poison to him. Notice Ortiz didn’t even have to curse much or bring any kind of threat or street shit into the mix, pure lyricism and if he can’t respond or acknowledge that then he loses credibility in my book, just my opinion.

      • Taihair Djehuty

The only people he really challenged were his friends. Called them out by name and so far, only Meek has responded. The only other challenge was for rappers to step their game up. There’s nothing to respond to in that regard because it got folks talking about lyrics again and it got dudes like Ortiz, Budden, Lupe, Cassidy, Papoose in the study. He didn’t acknowledge most responses to his verse. He didn’t talk about it till someone finally got an interview and they asked him about which one’s he liked and he actually said that Joe and Joell did the damn thing, though King Los was his favorite…….next to Chocolate Drop lol.

      • Taihair Djehuty

Hmm, don’t know if my response was deleted or just not showing up. Anyways, Kendrick called out by name those who wanted to challenge. Out of them, only Meek has responded. And he did mention Joell’s verse. Not just his but Joe’s as well. After his verse dropped, he didn’t have anything to say about any of the responses until someone finally got an interview out of him to speak on his Control verse and they asked him which responses was he feeling. He said Joe and Joell did the damn thing and that he really liked the response by King Los. K.Dot didn’t lose anything.

      • Prison_Wolf_Maleek

“yea I got punched in the face but I ain’t gonna do nuttin cus I get more hoes anyway”…..Realest shit I read on this site since making my account….

      • Prison_Wolf_Maleek

You are exactly on point…..I think K Dot is scared of Pap and Ortiz, so he is using that mentality to make himself look good, when is really just being a draft dodger……I mean, did Pac give a fukk who Chino Xl was when he came at him? No one even knew who the fukk Chino was, I never heard his diss at Pac till Pac mentioned his name in Hit EM up….Pac, wasn’t like, “well, he irrelevant”, nah, he let the nigga have it….Did Eminem back down from Canibus, saying oh “Canibus is a failed rap artist, he aint on my level, I aint gonna respond?” Nah, he let the nigga have it….Pun even dissed 50 for How To Rob, he didnt say, “well, I don’t wanna give the nigga any spotlight, he a nobody in the game”….nah, he threatened to blow his head off….Thats how it used to be, anybody come at you, they get, regardless of status and record sales….

      • Sunny

Minus Jay and MAYBE a few others, NY rap is dead. The ONLY ppl who’s keeping NY scene alive are the battlers. Papoose been outta there. Niggga dropped that ball a longggg time ago. Who need pap when You got Lux?

    • IToldYoMommaYouAintSh_t

Ya’ll been waitin on NY to fall off on some secret hatin shit LOL aight…time will tell. U mad at NY when all of what is poppin right now is the shit u don’t even like. And on some east coast shit….Meek, Mac Miller, Whiz Khalifa, Cole, Wale, and almost everyone else other than Kendrick that are selling are from the east coast….stop trying to divide niggaz because the shit never ends well.

      • Donny P

Aint nobody hating on NY.. NY fell off tho.. Facts my guy.. Be glad yall got Jay

      • IToldYoMommaYouAintSh_t

If NY fell off then I guess hip hop fell off with it…shit became damn near embarrassing. Niggaz is starting to act like inmates that got locked up and blame everything that’s fucked up in their life on their father not being there for them…so they hate that nigga. Didn’t NY treat you good lmao…u still disrespected…didn’t we raise u well…u still went out and did dumb shit…made coon music…enjoy that shit

      • Negro Peligro

Man New York cats killed rap. None of that stuff they was saying was real. So after every beef you was expecting.

        1. Loyalty
        2. Manhood
        3. Feeding your wolves
        4. Riding for your homies
None of them lyrics they was spitting would come out in real life. Dipset, Roc Breakup, GUnit Break up, DBlock, Wu Tang, Mobb Deep slapped in the face with the whole Mobb around, and just Saigon and His homie, Mobb Deep WROTE A DRY SNITCH BOOK, I MEAN MOBB DEEP IS THE POSTER TO WHY RAP DIED, ALL BAD BOY ARTIST. I mean the list goes on. The only person that held it down on the coast was Lil Kim. She had about the only act of bravery. All ya’ll cats was testifying, filing restraining orders, riding with your peoples enemies. Then get on track how you either send goons out or hold down the fam. So it became the loud mouth talk sh** but ain’t bout it show. Nobody wanted to hear that. I mean just looking at dipset together gives you a Nick at Nite reunion feeling. Like we all know what went behind the scenes when you wasn’t in character. Meanwhile UGK, EightBall MJG, RapALot, Master P,Outkast, Goodie Mob, the list goes on @ people that kept it real and stayed together. So I can sit back listen to what they was spitting and be like yeah that’s for real. I mean EIGHTBALL CALLED THAT years ago. He would say it all the time. THEM DUDES AIN’T REAL. ITS ALL A SHOW. Down South its real.

      • IToldYoMommaYouAintSh_t

Bruh what u sayin??? Every clique goes through that. NWA…Deathrow….Bad Boy…3 6 Mafia…look at Gucci…that shit is called growing apart. Foxy’s camp and Kim’s camp had shootouts…50 and Jah’s camp was stabbin each other…they were all warring..that shit wasn’t fake. Man shut up. People have differences…but they were all spittin…and Goodie Mob DID have their internal beefs…So did Luda’s camp and the list goes on. U on that bullshit patna

      • MADNEWYORKER914

Nigga that fertilizer that you are inhaling down south has really phukked your brain up!!! You are watching to much T.V.!!! “MOBB DEEP” wasn’t the ones that got slapped up, it was the “Infamous Mobb” whop was down with “MOBB DEEP”!!! And how in the phukk are byou even going to talk about New York beefing when “No Limit” and “Cash Money” was at each other, and mad niggas in the “ATL” are throwing shade at each other??? Most of those southern groups that you’ve mentioned don’t even exist!!! Who in the phukk is still signed to “RAP A LOT”??? “No Limit” doesn’t exist, and “Pastor Troy” schitted on “P” something terrible back in the day!!! “Goodie Mob”? Come on dog, theonly one doing any thing out of that group is that suspect looking nigga “Cee-Lo”!!! You down south clowns are the real delusional ones!!! The era of down south rap is actually known as a phukkin joke!!!

      • brotha_man

        nas and wu tang

      • Taihair Djehuty

Donny P actually never said anything about the East Coast, he just said NY fell off. So name dropping Mac, Meek, Wiz, Wale, Cole (South actually) didn’t really prove your point since none of those dudes are from NY. And even out of those dudes, only one doing any serious numbers is Cole. You should of at least named A$AP Rocky

      • IToldYoMommaYouAintSh_t

I think u read it too fast cuz before I said on some east coast shit I used the word AND….so that inclusion was to address other comments on this page about the East Coast needing to step it up again….but yeah A$AP had a decent album too…oh AND by the way (or on another note)…Cole is just as much from New York as Pac is from Cali. Pac went to Cali his Senior year and Cole went to Queens the summer of his senior year for College…sooo shit…what’s the 10 month difference between Pac moving to Cali for the beginning of senior year and Cole moving to Queens the end of his…but Pac is a West coast artist though huh? LMAO people keep shit in convenient perspective to suit their own agendas…but what’s real? Pac is from Harlem and Bmore.

      • Taihair Djehuty

Yeah but Pac claimed Cali, L.A. and showed love to the Bay. Cole claims Fayetteville. That’s the difference. Pac held it down for New York, but he was hollering Cali. Cole doesn’t holla out Beast Coast. And don’t be mad bruh, I was just trying assist your argument since there was at least one NY artist you could have mentioned that did move some units.

      • IToldYoMommaYouAintSh_t

Pac didn’t claim Cali till he was shot in NY but he claims NY more than Pac claimed Cali before he got shot the first time…figure that riddle out… So why Cole make the song New York times reppin Queens on his new album? Aye man I appreciate the alley oop though…listen to that song and get at me..and Pac can claim what he want during his last few years but everybody that grew up wit him know what’s up and I know old headz from Harlem that talk about growin up wit him

      • Taihair Djehuty

I’ve heard the track by Cole. Wasn’t one of my favorites from the album, but to quote Cole on the verse, “A Southern ***** with a New York mind.” He’s mos def showing love to Queens, but he’s talking about the state where he had to go to in order to make it in rap. As you see, he still makes it known where he is from. Though we all recognize his flow is more New York than Southern. Isn’t it the first time and it won’t be the last someone does something like that, especially about the land that birthed hip-hop. Dogg Pound’s “New York, New York” was originally supposed to pay homage to NY before Suge and the video director did their thing. There was a NY rapper that did a song about Cali. Can’t remember the name and don’t feel like turning on my old computer to find it.

      • IToldYoMommaYouAintSh_t

And I’m sure u heard his interviews where he reps NY and feels like he can rep it. I ain’t saying he he reps like Pac I’m saying he is just as much as from NY as Pac is from Cali…which means not really. Pac was just mad…that ain’t no Cali nigga. He can rep it all he want’s but he is a Harlem-Bmore nigga. He prolly spent 4 years out of his entire life there and was just mad at NY because he got shot up in the city he is really from. Felt betrayed so he started spazzin

      • Negro Peligro

A$AP Rocky don’t flow New York though. Represented diown south to me long before he repped New York. HE NICE. But in a lyrical battle. I don’t think he complex enough. I think Kendrick smarter than him.

      • Sinbk Legend

Meek is from philly how is that the south???

      • BigHomie337

Cole is from Carolina, that’s the South homie. Wale is D.C., that’s the Midwest. Stop claiming niggas to try and make the east cost look like its popping. Lol

      • DJ7

D.C. is NOT midwest champ…you buggin

      • IToldYoMommaYouAintSh_t

Lol…all I did was laugh when I read it

      • HalfPast7

Lmaoooo nigga said DC is Midwest

      • MADNEWYORKER914

Nigga do you know how to read a map??? When did D.C. become the mid-west??? From reading your post, you’re making niggas from your area look real stupid!!! The east coast is always poppin!!! “W

      • MADNEWYORKER914

“WHEN THE EAST IS IN THE HOUSE, OH MY GOD!!!” Blazy Blazy.

      • MADNEWYORKER914

@”IToldYoMommaYouAintSh_t” Dog, I’ve been saying that schitt for so long!!! It’s like having that one hating a$$ nigga around you watching your moves and style, and as soon as he gets on, he started throwing shade your way!!! These niggas been watching New York for so long, and now that they’re eating, they want to talk schitt about the “MECCA of Hip Hop”!!! But, it’s nobodies fault but ours because New York allowed this schitt to happen!!!

  • Christopher Atreu Salgado

ras kass is the REAL king of the west hed eat kendrick for breakfast lunch and dinner sick of these mainstream “rappers” actin like shit they not

    • Eric Collapsar

Ras has a song on Barmageddon , it has Kendrick Lamar on it. Kendrick didn’t even come close to out rhyming Ras Kass. These rappers out now ain’t Lyricist. Listen to the whole Ras Kass album. The beats y’all like these wack ass rappers to spit on, Ras did them ugly.

    • Negro Peligro

I ain’t never really listened to Ras Kass gotta go back and see what ya’ll talking bout. The joints I heard he wasn’t spitting hard at all. The same thing happened to me with Cassidy. I was like Cassidy the hotel nigga. Then I heard him spit for real. So I’ll go listen.

      • IToldYoMommaYouAintSh_t

listen to Soul on Ice…u can hear Eminem type shit waay before Em…Ras Kass was nice

      • MADNEWYORKER914

That nigga “Kass” is a beast!!! I got open to that nigga all the way back when he did a joint called “Miami Life” back in the 90’s!!!

    • Papi Peligro

Real talk Kendrick Left Kass looking like Big Sean on that FOCUS TRACK. I’m revoking ya’ll music critic license.

      • Christopher Atreu Salgado

riiiiight kendricks overrated just like how jay killed him on bdkmv theres nothing special about his lyricism or his annoying ass voice…hes like a beginners lyricist so to speak… theres so many nicer mc’s than him its not even funny

      • ImFred ImRico

Jay KILLED Kendrick on that? C’mon son! Jay’s verse was cool but it ain’t beating either of K Dot’s verses. He ain’t top 5 but keep it a 100, the hate is real out here…

Lemme get this straight. YOU CAN SAY SOME STUFF LIKE KENDRICK SAID. Line of MC’s trying to get studio time to respond. THIS DUDE BUSY DOING SHOWS IN NEW YORK. I guess he is the king of New York. Ya’ll can’t get studio time. He doing shows in your city.

    • Tony G.

same thing I said..he sells more than NY rappers…songs get played IN NY more than NY rappers…he sells out shows IN NY…and headlined the biggest show IN NY..Hot97 Summer Jam…why not call himself the KONY

    • HalfPast7

If thats the case then Hov is the King of almost every city in the US according to ur logic. Hov BEEN sellin out shows n headlining n sellin albums more than other rappers so I guess that makes him the king of the country. Sorry I like kdot n alla that but his first album aint nuttin compared to Reasonable Doubt, Illmatic, Doggystyle, The Chronic, etc. so aint no way he can be King of NY. Esco was fukkin 17 when he made Illmatic FOH THAT’S THE KING OF NY RIGHT THERE!

      • MADNEWYORKER914

        WORD!!!!

      • MADNEWYORKER914

        @HalfPast7, WORD!!!!

  • Top5iveAlive

lmaoo Rass Kass is the real king? or is it Game’s knuckles? but nonetheless Kendrick is very confident in himself, when you got Marshall in your corner and Dre. you won’t lose

  • brotha_man

skyzoo could get at k.dot. imo

    • RichFromBX

Sean Price, Torae and Joey Bada$$ can get him

      • brotha_man

        TRUE STORY!!

    • Prison_Wolf_Maleek

Action Bronson, Bada$$, Meyhem Lauren, Freddie Gibbs, Fred Da GodSon, DZA, Maffew Ragazino Sr. all, in my opinion, shit on Kendrick…..

  • alex Richardson

Props to Kdot he gone have a long career and his whole team is very smart.. After his next album he will be on top of the game.. Maybe the next Nas, Andre3000, or way bigger than them. But Meek Mill will probally go broke he 2 flashy and his team of nobodys/goons just spending his $$ when he go broke they will be gone with the wind.. Meek dont even get in Rick Ross beefs thats being disloyal to me. I’m a big GAME fan but i see what 50 cent was saying about not riding for the team you gotta pack your bags and get the Hell out.

  • PhilTheGreat

Lol. Kendrick is a funny dude.

  • Malik

Well, this settles it then, Kendrick aint the king of shite!!!

He knows not to respond to Papoose but he’ll send tweet darts all day at Meek. Dude is smart, you have to give him that, he knows to pick his fights appropriately.

Cuz like Nas said…”your arms too short to box with god”

    • Cheatham Manziel

He said this in Brooklyn and he said no time for irrelevant niggas

      • Obi Won

Right, I thought that was the biggest statement to begin with

      • Malik

Him saying it in BK doesn’t matter, it’s poppin on wax not on the streets
        What makes a rapper relevant?
        Mainstream appeal?
K dot wants us to believe he’s a hip-hop head right?
So, he painted a bull’s eye on his back and heads came at him.
Now he’s offering excuses not to respond to lyrical heads.
But he’ll send tweets to corporate manufactured maggots all day.
What part of the game is that?
Who he claims to be or what he want peeps to believe he represents sure isn’t adding up when put to scrutiny.
I’ll stick my neck out and say dude doesn’t have the bars to compete on this level…not on a Joell Ortiz or Papoose level.

      • Cheatham Manziel

He didn’t tweet he said this ain’t a performance in Brooklyn yesterday. Somebody quoted him on their twitter. Who knows what he got stored up because he heard all the responses. Jay Z was doing these same antics circa 2001 and dropped one of his best albums so was 50. Em back so who knows what they got cooking over there in Aftermath

      • Malik

Nice point and references but from where I stand, K dot is looking weak but it’s up to him to stem the tide, he knows the game

      • Cheatham Manziel

I want to hear a record too. Schoolboy Q album coming out so maybe they can capitalize off it

      • God Body

co-effin-sign. Your analysis has merit in abundance. Somebody buy this man a drink for making the most sense today. Hail!!

    • King Taylor

Did you hear what Kendrick just said ” I have no time for Irrelevant niggas ( Pap, Cassidy and Joell Ortiz)!! And relevant dont mean u good on just one coast it means all coast!!

      • Malik

Kendrick can’t stand bar for bar with any of Pap, Cassidy or Joell Ortiz…you doubt it? Let him prove it.

        No excuses, just bars.

      • King Taylor

I agree with u fam but can they make good music like him or be respected nationwide like him….NOPE!! I love bars but I can go to New York and get any rapper off the corner and they got bars!! Its more than just bars!! You got to have substance too!

      • Opposite Of Everyone

‘relevant’ is a term used by journalists and industry heads; it has nothing to do with the culture of hip-hop but is rather a product of corporate ‘rap music’. In the culture of hip-hop, ANY MC has the right to challenge any other.

  • King Taylor

Kendrick is smart…I hear alot of ppl saying why he wont come at this person or that person…Its easy because if you are not RELEVANT why would I waste my time going at you just so u can get some fame or be in the light!! Its not just about who got bars its about who RELEVANT anybody he named in the verse shouldnt respond because they are RELEVANT not coast RELEVANT but World wide RELEVANT!

    • Malik

Yea, right! You call yourself the king of NY, then when some of your supposed subjects came for the alleged throne, you turn and run away claiming their stake to the crown is irrelevant…but hey wait a minute, what makes Kendrick’s claim to anything in hip-hop RELEVANT to begin with? Heads checked for homie cuz HE GOT LYRICS and now he’s ducking from lyrical heads…the irony.

      • King Taylor

You right Kendrick made a bold statement when he quoted that King of New York line from Kurupt but it has to be the right MC that has to challenge him not rappers with just bars!! Maino said it best NY rappers looks weak now they been weak for years! New York rappers dont make East Coast music anymore and thats what it all boil down too! DJ Paul even said that he hate that New York music sounds like down south music and thats not suppose to happen!!

  • IToldYoMommaYouAintSh_t

To be honest I think Kendrick is the best MC out right now but that isn’t sayin shit. People want to put him in the top 5 already because they are just thirsty for something new…but I can name like 50 albums better than GKMC.

    Capital Punishment
Its Dark and Hell is hot
    Illmatic
    Reasonable Doubt
    Food and Liqour
    Ready to Die
    Tical
    8ball MJG Spaceage pimpin
    Ironman and Supreme Clientelle
    Mobb Deep Infamous album
    College Dropout
    Late Registration
    Get Rich or Die tryin
    Low End Theory
American Gangsta Black Album and so forth
    Common’s Be album
    Scarface the Fix
    Any Pac album
    Fugees album
    Lauryn Hills Album
    Marshal Mathers LP

And man that shit flowed so quick I could probably name 100 better albums now that I think about it…the kid is nice but …..YA’LL ARE THIRSTY FOR SOMETHIN NEW. The game is that fucked up right now…and u know it.

    • HalfPast7

Word! When you grow up listenin to those albums, nuttin new bein released is impressive. Shit Capital Punishment? That was a beast album!

    • Dubz

I give it to GKMC….I think its a classic album. I would listen to it over half the albums you mentioned on this list…that doesn’t take anything away from those albums. When you take the new school vs old school mentality out of the equation…and just search for good music…you will know this album fits in that list.

    • Papi Peligro

Oh no I wasn’t saying Album wise. LOL. We just talking about battling. Album wise he got to get a HIT. He not really a dude that make hits. Like Jay Z to me really has made a HIT since like Jigga What Jigga Who days. Every since Blue Print 2 to me he just made good music. I don’t Kendrick breaking anybody’s already built top 50 list.

      • IToldYoMommaYouAintSh_t

I feel you. But they are going waaaay too far with this Top 5 bs already. he ain’t even better than Big Pun yet and even Lauryn Hill’s crazy ass would merk him. But on another note Jay Z just made his 2nd biggest hit a couple years ago with Empire State of Mind. Also Run this town and On to the next, Niggaz in Paris, were decent hits

    • david3528

This thorny subject matter right here, right now shows how far the rules are being changed right under our very noses. Some rules in Hip-Hop are a no-no as far as change is concerned because once those rules goes, Hip-Hop as we know it is done.

  • Nemesis_Enforcer

OK Kendrick WAS the dude that the whole industry was riding for. He needs to be careful not to upset the whole industry unless he can truly handle it.

    • Taihair Djehuty

you’d be surprised who’s still riding with him. Jay still co-signs him and Jay is still the biggest artist in NY. Nas was feeling the verse. Eminem put him in his new video and Dr. Dre is still behind him. Pretty much the whole West Coast is behind him. Snoop and them been passed the torch. Slaughterhouse and Black Hippy are still cool with each other until stated otherwise. And radio stations still want him on.

You know, I really love this shit. It’s almost getting back to the 90s where the music is getting creative again. These guys are passionate in their craft and competition brings out creativity. That’s why everyone always refers to the same 10 or so guys from the 90s and makes a top five list. I give Kdot all the credit in the world and give Meek his props for firing back. As an avid 35 year old hip hop listener, it’s nice to see this coming around again. Might teach you young kids how to work hard. Now my old ass is going to sleep. Peace.

    • david3528

Except for that Twitter beef nonsense. If you got some slick shit to say, grab a mic, hit the studio, and let it out. Stay off twitter.

Yeah he prematurely compares himself to the to MC giants? and..all this I’m so nice talk ain’t smart either directed at your immediate rap piers. Kdot is gas’d on industry hugs and dap. My point is dude on his 1st CD with all this talk and career has yet to mature. I’ll say it again he’s got the least time in with all this huff and really he’s not proven yet…It’s not how I feel now..It’s how everyone feels later.

  • $18916246

He’s placed pressure on his own head and career as it will be one rapper/mc after another seeking Kdot to prove it, in other words eat ya words. The mistake I feel is failing to generalize his comments in his now famous “Control” verse (all mc’s rant they’re the best).

“PAPOOSE” missed his opportunity to get at Kendrick Lamar in New York or any other N.Y. artist!!! If he was smart, then he would’ve pulled that same move that “KRS-ONE” pulled on that fat nigga from “P.M. Dawn” back in the day by knocking his fat ass off of the stage, taking over the show, and then rocking the mic!!! That would’ve been an epic move for “PAPOOS”!!! That definitely would’ve been a something to talk about in the “HIP HOP” community.
